[YEA]  07/02/2011: Lou In Texas from Somewhere, Texas writes: "My husband began taking 1 tablespoon of Really Raw Honey and 1 teaspoon of ceylon (sweet) cinnamon about 5-6 weeks ago for his arthritis in his knees. He takes this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and does not eat for at least an hour afterward. He could see a definite improvement after the first week and every week since. He now has no pain in his knees at all, unless he stands up too long at one time. Before, his knees were always in pain."

Jones from Las Vegas, Nevada writes: "Could you send the answer to my e-mail? sjones1941(at)cox(dot)net I started Honey and Cinnamon a month ago, and the pain in my knees stopped bothering me after two weeks, but not all the way. At four weeks, no pain. I tried stopping the Hon & Cin, and after one week, the pain was back. Does this mean, I have to take it for life? I'm 69, and plan to live another 33 years. Thank You...

[YEA]  10/29/2008: Parag from Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA writes: "This is a remedy I have seen other people use around me in India for arthritis. I teaspoon of ground cinnamon powder, mixed with 1 teaspoon pure, organic honey. Take it in the morning before you eat anything. And do not eat/drink anything for 30 minutes after. Drinking water is fine. You should see effect within a week, if not within days."

How do you take the cinnamin & honey? do you mix in hot water? I would love to tell her about "natural ways" to help w/ her RA thanks. Love EC"
01/22/2011: Lemarque from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia replies: "Hi Mountain Girl. RA as you know is an autoimmune condition, which firstly makes it very difficult to manage and in the advanced stages pharmaceutical intervention is often necessary to enable the person to function. Both honey and cinnamon are very good anti-flammatory agents and your sister could certainly take them combined in water (2t-spoons honey and 1/4 t-spoon cinnamon) but she may find it a little unpalatable. I would suggest combining them into a fresh fruit/vegetable juice or non-dairy smoothy. There is a very effective Vermont Folk Medicine remedy which she may consider. In a glass of water add 2 t-spoons of honey and 2 t-spoons of ACV and drink morning and night. She could simply add the cinnamon to this cocktail if she wishes. Hope this helps."

For a week and some I have been doing the honey-cinn and I positively feel the difference. I have not taken any prescribed meds. for a week. I add 2 teaspoons honey and 1 teaspoon cinnamon and add this to a cup very hot water. I drink this morning and nite. I also love the fact that it benefits me in other ways. [YEA]  04/02/2008: Ani from Ontario, Canada writes: "Wearing a copper bracelet can significantly help with arthritis, back pain, aches and joint pains. My parents swear by it. In fact my dad makes jewelry and after he discovered that copper helped him with his bad back pain he started making copper bracelets for sale. He has been selling them for over 15 years and the personal testimonials he's heard are remarkable. The amount that it helps is individual of course and varies but most people feel at least SOME improvement while others say they experience DRAMATIC improvement. In any case it's cheap to try and can't do any harm. I'm surprised copper wasn't posted before and curious to read other people's experiences with this."

BETTER BUT NOT CURED

01/21/2011: Pam from Marlborough, Ct, Usa writes: "Has anyone tried Devils Claw for arthritis? I have had a problem with my hands, swelling between the knuckles, and have tried vitamins, acv, tumeric, and they have helped somewhat, but I still have to take pain medicine. I will probably be going to a doctor to find out what is causing it hopefully, but I have a 24 year old horse that was really getting lame and I didn't want to put her down yet. Well I bought her a product that contains devils claw, yucca and a few other things. I give her a small amount in her grain daily and I can't believe in a week the difference it has made, she is acting like an young horse again and is hardly stiff anymore. If anyone knows if it helps people I would like to here from you. Thanks Pam"

01/23/2011: Bess from Calgary, Alberta, Canada replies: "Hi Pam - After injuring my foot and dealing with the pain for over two months, I started reading a book called "The Inflammation Syndrome" (Jack Challem) which mentioned the following about Devil's Claw - "This herb, originally from southern Africa, can benefit people with rheumatoid arthritis, lower back pain and various other rheumatic complaints. In one study, French researchers gave 435 mg of devil's claw daily to 92 people with osteoarthritis. By the end of the four-month study, people taking devil's claw had significantly less pain and greater mobility and also used fewer anti-inflammatory drugs and painkillers. " I hope that helps.

As for my foot, I think I will try pycnogenol first (which helped the author who had a similar foot injury and is also beneficial for those suffering from arthritis). It's a great book (I got it from the library)... All I need to do now is get some of the things he mentioned and experiment to see what works for me. Good luck - I hope devil's claw works for you."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  10/07/2011: Pat from Coventry, England replies: "I have been on devils claw now for around 3 to 4 weeks. I take 1200mg ( 2 capsules) morning and night. Since being on the medication my pain is still there but much less. It is definitely worth giving it a try. It is widely used in Germany and France and has undergone clinical trials. Good luck and keep me posted.

[YEA]  02/14/2009: Edward from Norwich, United Kingdom writes: "I have suffered from arthritis for years and have tried several types of medications. Most give pain-killing results but with side effects. Feeling hungry one evening, I ate a large handful of dried dates, and next morning I felt like a different person. All pain had gone! Why is this? Have I discovered a miracle cure? Could others try this, to confirm or refute. I double checked the food I had eaten the previous couple of days, but the only item that was unusual was the dates. Your's Edward."

EC: Perhaps it is the region where the dates are grown? Read this page of facts from a California orchard: http://www.hadleyfruitorchards.com/funfacts.cfm

We also found this:

"Dates are great for post-viral chronic fatigue syndrome sufferers as well as excellent for those who suffer with anaemia. Most varieties of dried dates are very high in iron. All dates have a reasonable amount of fibre and are a rich source of potassium." http://www.femail.com.au/driedfruits.htm

ENZYMES

YEA

[YEA]  11/28/2011: Soleil from Atlanta, Georgia writes: "My belief about most health issues, that most of us have, is that it stems from our guts. Whether it is arthritis, leaky gut, or any other ailment. If we fix our guts, we fix most of our health problems. For years I've suffered with diarrhea and just came to accept that I had a stomach issue. When you have diarrhea all the time, your body isn't absorbing any nutrients or minerals it needs for your whole health. This being the case, your body will react by giving you certain symptoms.

When we try to discover what causes our symptoms, we read and read and read about what may cause each specific one. We then take supplements to rid us of a specific symptom, while not understanding the overall cause of a specific symptom. In my case, I developed arthritis in both knees and am fatigued much of the time. My knees hurt so badly I couldn't fall asleep at night. I tried many different products, all natural, (Zyflamend, ginger extract, Instaflex etc.) to no avail. I'm a flight attendant so it's very difficult to think of mixing Apple Cider Vinegar and baking soda at work, when there is no time to even eat!

I recently discovered something called "Repair Gold" by Enzymedica (the enzyme experts). Most of the ingredients are enzymes, no MSM, etc. It contains bromelain, protease, amylase, catalase, papain, serratiopeptidase and lipase. I've been able to sleep the last 4 nights and haven't had the usual bouts of diarrhea. It makes me wonder how many others have arthritis and diarrhea. I believe my arthritis stemmed from my malabsorption of nutrients and minerals from the food I eat, thereby causing deficiencies and bone loss, etc. I would never have connected the two. I encourage many of you to continue to research and read as much as you can, and to look way beyond a specific symptom. Wishing you good health and discoveries in nature."

[YEA]  09/04/2011: Dalene from Johannesburg, South Africa writes: "This remedy helped my old arthritic dog recover, nothing short of a miracle, he's like a young dog after the Prednisone the vet prescribed nearly killed him! I suspect this might help for human arthritis? I give him a teaspoon of unflavoured gelatine every day, dissolved in some warm (not boiling) water, add to his food and let cool. It's tasteless so no prob there, and he also gets a fish oil capsule twice a week. He weighs about 10kg so the dose must be adjusted for bigger dogs. God bless al you dog lovers"

I had heard about C_____, or fruit pectin (used to make jellies and jams) can be purchased in any supermarket, stopped one individual from having a knee operation. [SIDE EFFECTS]  09/02/2011: Sara from Sacramento, Ca, Sacramento writes: "Yesterday, I bought a "Heat Wrap" for my mom who is 76 years old. This Heat Wraps is for powerful pain relief and deep muscle relaxation. She is pretty much healthy, but she suffers from Arthritis on her back and both knees. As soon as she put the wrap on her back the heat wrap started getting warm, and she could not stand it for more than 45 minutes. She had to remove the wrap, and she felt a burning sensation on her the bases of her both feet. Now, she suffers from a great amount of pain and she does not have any energy at all. I called to take her to her doctor, but he is on leave till next week. What do you think is the problem and what natural remedy will be helpful in her case?"

Replies
09/02/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Sara has your mom tired apple cider vinegar for her arthritis. If you look at the arthritis remedies page on this website many people have cured their arthritis by drinking ACV with honey and bicarb of soda.

Also for the deep muscle pain, magnesium oil rubbed in the area should help with that or magnesium chloride in bath water or even epson salts would help, although magnesium chloride is better and longer lasting."

09/06/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "A short term remedy to help the pain is castor oil with DMSO. That means one part castor oil and one part DMSO, for simplicity. Applied to her leg it will relieve pain in minutes, if not then she needs allopurinol 100 mg x 3 times a day. A long term treatment is needed, but we'll discuss later. The energy is required CoQ10 300 mg to have any effect.

Ted"

My query is I am taking along with probiotics vit k2 vit d3 and borax with magnesium tablets as well. The magnesium supplement is a mag calcium complex with the ingredients as mag. As oxide citrate. Is this right as I am worried that taking calcium as bottle label suggests is interfering with the healing process.

Many thanks Chris "

12/30/2008: EJ from Middleboro, MA, USA writes: "Arthritis in cats: My 12 year old Domestic short hair cat has been developing arthritis in her front elbows for the past few years. I don't want to give her any prescription or aspirin for pain, knowing what the side effects are. I'm looking for a natural alternative. I'm giving her some Glucosomine and Chondroitin treats daily. Some days she is better than others. I was reading on the internet about a product called synflex for pets and wonder if anyone has used this and what the results were. She eats Wellness brand canned food and has for years. She's not overweight (10 lbs), is indoor all day and has no stairs to contend with. She's still jumping up and down from the bed and playing periodically. I'm trying to keep her healthy and pain free. Any suggestions would be great. thanks!"

YEA

[YEA]  03/20/2007: Sunny from Fullerton, CA writes: "I am of Korean descent, and for as long as I can remember, my grandparents and my mother have been using ginger for a few different ailments. Recently, I noticed with the cold weather, the flu bug was going around and I have had some pain and swelling in my wrists and finger joints. I made tea by boiling one ginger root, sliced and diced, in some water, added some fresh lemon juice and the peel (how it was done forever in my household) and added honey into my cup. it isn't a cure for a cold, but it certainly helps to relieve symptoms. i took the warm ginger remains out of the pot and mashed it up and applied it topically to my wrists and fingers. the pain is substantially alleviated. if you can handle the smell, it is worth a try. this is not a cure for arthritis, but a natural and very healthy way of relieving pain. there is also a link to show studies done by the U of Maryland on ginger and what ailments it helps with. hope this helps. http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsHerbs/Gingerch.html"

[YEA]  03/20/2007: Katherine from Los Angeles, USA writes: "Arthritis Remedy: Ginger Root/Mint tea. I have found that making tea out of ginger root and mint is more helpful than any capsules. Take about a 1 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger root, peel and then slice root into mug, add some fresh mint leaves, pour good boiling water over and steep at least 1/2 hour (the longer the better) drink before you retire for the night. This not only helps with the joint pain but has also helped me sleep more sound. The mint is important as it helps the stomach - ginger root tea alone can be a bit difficult if one is no longer 20 . This is an acquired taste. DO NOT get carried away like I did the first week and drink more than one huge mug a night. As my Chinese Dr. friend said "it is like listerine for the body". Cleans out the toxins and it is a natural anti inflammatory."

I used to dread winters even though I was prescribed anti-inflamatory pills and painkilers by my doctor. I recently discovered ginger root (I found a newspaper article about ginger that I had put away some years ago) and have been taking it for about 3 weeks now in capsule form from the health food shop. The stiffness has gone from my joints and spine and most of the pain which is gradually disappearing. In fact, the other day I realised that I didn't have any pain or stiffness at all. It is such a great remedy that I am recommending it to everybody I know who has arthritis."
