I had given birth 6 years ago and have had a mild case of hemorrhoids. almost all of those 6 years. They recently got painful and severely swollen for the first time and the women at the health food store recommended rutin. Within 3 days all the swelling was gone, even the painless swelling that persisted since childbirth disappeared. I have poor circulation and sometimes in the dry months get itchy swollen varicose veins behind my knees. This has not been a problem since taking the rutin supplement. A good complement to this herb is horse chestnut, especially for those with varicose veins.

I bought a bottle of Rutin and took one a day until it was gone. It didn't help at all. Maybe I have a different kind of hemorrhoid. Mine are from inflammation (never was constipated) as a result of trying a low carb diet, in an attempt to lose 25 pounds. Low carb diets are dangerous.

I have had a hemmroid for almost a year now. Just last week I started taking Rutin 500mg twice a day, in the morning and one before going to bed. My hemmroid originally was the size of a pea but over time looked more like a inflated balloon that looked like three peas. But, taking Rutin for only a week the inflammation has gone down and my hemmroid thankfully is almost gone, it's less than a size of a pea today. I will continue to use Rutin and take hot/warm showers to reduce the swelling. And I hope by the next week it will be gone, if not I will then continue with Apple Cider Vinegar (the mother). But, so far I am very pleased how Rutin has made me feel and appearance.

I had bad hemmoroids after lifting heavy weights. I ate a bottle of Rutin from the health food store, and after that, all the pain went away. I no longer had to sleep on my left side or my stomache. I could sleep on my back w/out them getting swollen & painful. They were also less tight. The rutin helped a great deal. Then I bought another bottle of it & ate that. It didn't help. Nothing helped for weeks until I took Vitamin B6 (actually a b-complex). I was on a diet that doesn't allow B6 for a long time before I got the hemmoroids. I believe it was related.

I recommend B6 & Rutin, cause the rutin didn't do the job 100%, but it sure helped. The B6 made a major difference.

Rutin are great for piles! Rutin is present in many foods, including citrus fruits, apricots, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, rose hips, and buckwheat. Rutin helps strengthen capillaries and blood vessels, and heals wounds.Rutin is helpful in prevention of recurrent bleeding arising from weakened blood vessels
Or
Vitamin B6 tablets. This remedy works after just a day or two. This will work if your hemorrhoids come from a deficiency of this vitamin, which is MANY cases, it does. I had a neighbor with BLEEDING hemorrhoids and she was able to avoid surgery by simply taking Vitamin B6.
Or
Noni
Or
Castor oil
https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/castor_oil.html#HEMMORHOIDS
Or
Witch Hazel
Or
Soursop is useful for high cholesterol, piles and blood in stools etc. Just buy 1 unripe fruit (raw and hard fruit),wash and cut it into small pieces.Cook it for 1 hr under low flame, when ready add some yellow sugar to taste. The fruit can be cooked again for maximum benefits.

Try taking rutin for hemorrhoids, or any bioflavanoids. it's worked for me. but you have to take it everyday without fail.

I've dealt with hemmies for many years - early on it was from drug use - once I stopped that, I was always constipated which only made them worse. Then I was pregnant and they came on with a vengeance!! Went to the doc I was in so much pain and he gave me some script for butt cream which only worked temporarily. I got used to just using prep H whenever I managed to poop....finally I had my routined figured out and could keep them at bay.

Then one year I was visited by the angriest hemmies I'd ever had!! It was bad - pain, swollen, scared to poop, bleeding, anxiety, it's all you think about when your butt hurts that bad...I thought I would die. I wasn't aware of EC so I just dealt with it....in tears and in fear..they finally went away and I was back to my old routing, hoping they'd never be back that bad....welp - last year I got a thrombosed hemmie - which is a bad hemmie that fills with a blood clot and gets hard and excruciatingly painful...to the ER I went, I considered surgery but the ER doctor didn't even recommend it.....I suffered for 2 weeks and upon taking sitz baths and not eating much out of fear of having to poop, it eventually went away as well.

I finally started doing research to heal my butt because no way was I going to deal with that again!! I found EC and learned about Rutin. I bought some in the event of the evil visitor....sure enough they came back but this time as lots of blood (not thrombosed)....I thought I was dying out of my butt.....I quickly remembered the Rutin and after day 1 I was no longer bleeding and after day 3 my butt was happy again!! I now take it several times per week, to keep everything intact....!! I can now poop without fear or anxiety... Thank you again EC community for another winner!! Xo

Dear Eve,

20 year ago I recall reading a caution about using Rutin in pregnancy. I cannot remember the source. Now, I realize you are breastfeeding, but the same caution may apply.

Cayenne might be an alternative for you to help with circulation. Is it possible that the cold hands are caused by low thyroid? If so, kelp or the iodine protocol on Earth Clinic may be helpful for you.

Wondering where you heard this risk? If there's a study please share this, thank you. I tried to find something on the Leukemia risk. All I found was an article mentioning that flavonoids in general *might* cause it. So a theoretical risk to a class of plant pigments / antioxidants, and not specifically relating to Rutin. Paper title is “Dietary bioflavonoids induce cleavage in the MLL gene and may contribute to infant leukemia”

I was so surprised when I didn't see Rutin mentioned as a cure for hemorrhoids. My dad had a severe case and my mom read somewhere to try Rutin and it cured them. Mom told me when after pregnancy I got them. I've told neighbors and friends and it's helped them all. Rutin can be found in a health food store. It comes from Vit C. I take 500 mg's every day until the pain is gone. It usually takes about 1 to 2 days for the pain to go and then I quit paying attention. DO give this a try and let me know if it worked for you too!!

Did the Rutin only eliminate the pain or did it also get rid of the swelling and, if so, did it eliminate swelling inside or out?

Have you tried using garlic clove as suppository. It works! Look it up for user directions.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and Cayenne Pepper (CP) have been recommended by many websites for hemorrhoid and its bleeding.

I say be very careful about these 2 so-called remedies. ACV might work for some but it is pretty harsh stuff for the colon and hemroid. It can cause blistering around the butt which is very painful and slow to heal as one user reported on this site.

CP powder aka Chili powder is a circulatory herb but it is well known among physicians - TCM and Homoepathic - to aggravate bleeding hemroids. For this reason these physicians often warn hemroid patients to avoid taking Chilli. So why are so many websites saying otherwise.

The only reason I can think of is as with other remedies, ACV and CP might help some but would worsen the problem for others. The latter category of users probably did not bother to report their negative experience.

I can tell you that I myself have used ACV and CP and found out that they are not safe for hemroids. CP for instance causes my hemroid to bleed again after 7 months of non-bleeding through the consumption of White Oak Bark powder.

Instead I would suggest safer herbal supplements like Rutin, White Oak Bark and Resveratrol. Even for some users these may also be counter-productive. For example some users might find Resveratrol constipating. However their effects are not so radical as ACV and CP.

In answer to 'Treadcarefully from Singapore' I would totally agree with their posting on Cayenne Pepper. I took CP in tea form for 11 days (by mouth) 3 times a day after hearing of the amazing benifits for hemmorroids (internal and external). After about 3 days of the treatment the burning round my anus was intolerable, this of course in addition to the pain I was already in from the hemmorroids. Being someone not to give up easily, I kept going till I could stand it no longer... Ceased the CP and within two days the dreadful burning subsided and in four days it was gone. Wont be trying that again!! Not sure though if the CP capsules would have the same bad effects? Not for me though - have put myself through too much agony already.

As for the ACV, I have certainly found that using it externally (diluted 50/50 with water) and bathing the external area after each BM and before bed to be quite benefical. Still got my hems, but no where near as painful as they were, but am trying all sorts of various remedies and concocting my own from them. My latest being, Butchers Broom tincture (3 times daily), a small mug of 2 tbls ACV, 1 tbls honey, 1 tbls lemon juce, and 1 clove of garlic grated or cut up very small, mix all together and top up with warm to hot water. Take twice a day.... Will post again if I have found that magic potion which we all need....

Hi Maureen,

Can I take these Rutin tablets while I am breast feeding? And what brand of Rutin tablets I can take?

Where did you get that info from? I never heard anything of the sort - leukemia?! I'm breastfeeding and want to take rutin because my circulation isn't great and my hands are so cold, they're uncomfortable on my baby's skin when I change her diapers.
