Impressive Health Benefits of Oil Pulling

I just started oil pulling. The first day I did it worked out great. However, I have now done it a second time, and I kept needing to swallow. However, the rule is not to swallow, but it was like my body was making this a forced issue. Any advice on how to prevent it while I'm oil pulling?

Hello, I was as skeptical as anyone else about the claims of OP but figured I'd give it a try since it's a natural "remedy" and not expensive. This is the first month of OP and I ahve already seen some changes. I swish a tablespoon with refined Sunflower oil for 20 minutes every morning and thouroughly rinse and wash my teeth and gums with olive oil soap. At first it took some getting used but now it comes as second nature... First I had a dull pain in my right foot. As soon as I took my first step out of bed and put some weight on it, there it was a reminder of the pain... I no longer have that pain in the foot.. would say I noticed the pain was gone about 2eeksd ago. I had bleeding gums everytime I brushed my teeth and after a month of OP, my gums are pink and healthy. For two weeks now, I have not used the medication my dermatologist prescribed for the rosea rash I have on my face and the redness has almost cleared up... with continued use I anticipate the redness to be gone in a month or two. My best advise is to have patience. this is something that will not work overnight but keep at it and you might see some real benefit. I know I have.

Here in Toronto there is a new store called Healthy Planet; they sell a great variety of natural and organic products, their prices are quite reasonably and I saw products that I have heard in my life!!!

You may want to give them a call:

Just want to thank earthclinic for it's awesome website, you are the best. I first tried the oil pulling on 08/02/08 and it has done wonders for me. first thing it's done is corrected my digestive system and in only 13 days I'm loosing my bloated belly, my face is glowing, I'm sleeping much much better, I have energy to spare, over all, I haven't felt this good in over 20 years from a day to day period. just can't thank you enough.

There's just one question I have about how offten you should use this method. OK, today is the 13th day of my using it. I noticed that this morning after my 20 min usage when I spat it out it was still yellow, does this mean that I've cleared out all my toxins for now and would need to wait a few days then go back because I did a repeat later on this afternoon and got the same results. what ever your answer is, I will continue to do the oil pulling it's just too good not to continue using.
May God Bless all of you!

I have been oil pulling for 4 days. I used to smoke two packs a day and drink so much coffee I ended up in the hospital with caffiene intoxication. My teeth look so much cleaner and are starting to get white. They had been terribly stained. I work nights, 12 hour shifts, and always have big black bags surrounding my eyes. These bags are almost completely gone and my skin looks so clear. I also starting drinking 2 tablespoons of ACV in 8 oz of water before each meal. My skin is really starting to glow. My energy is reaching levels I have not felt in years. I am in my mid forties. I am really starting to look younger. This upsets my wife very much. She is upset that I am being stared at now by others whenever we are out together. She sees the differences in my appearance and energy but for some reason will still not try oil pulling or ACV. I am going to start keeping a journal and track the changes in my appearance and energy. I am so pleased with the results and it has only been four days!!!! I am enjoying being "noticed" so much more when I go out. It always nice to know that others find you attractive. I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!! I will continue with both of these practices for the remainder of my life. It is so cheap and yet the rewards are so tremendous.

To Mona from Bangalore: Do not stop rinsing your mouth with sesame oil. I had rhumatoid arthritis three years ago in my fingers and wrists of both bands. Not only did my arthritis was completely cured in three months, but also my puffed up face which was due to allergic rhinitis (cattarrah). Further this practice also cured by wife's 20 year old bladder infection, the numbness on her thigh; my daughter's and niece's tooth ache; dark circles round another niece's eyes and some other cures about which I hope to post in details. Wish you good health and good luck. God bless you.

When people refer to coconut oil, I don't know if they mean the solid, white oil but that sounds yucky. I imagine it causing a gag reflex. Medium Chain Triglycerides oil (MCT) is the lighter, liquid version of coconut oil and would be easier to get whole tablespoon in your mouth. It's more expensive though but good to have on hand for diet. I just thought, you could warm up to liquefy the solid before taking and that may be what everyone does! Oh well, I prefer the lighter taste of MCT or sunflower oil and use less than a Tbs so that I can keep in my mouth for the entire 20 min.

Anytime I've done oil pulling and later feel achey, tired or headache, I knew that was a healing crisis or a detox time when lots of junk is pulled out from your organs and tissue. Drink A LOT of water and help keep your kidneys flushed and you'll recover soon. Weekends are a good time to hit it hard. Try it 2 or 3 times a day... Always 2 hours after a meal or first thing in morning. Take advantage of weekend timing and sleep a lot and DRINK WATER.

Cheers, Francine

Just wanted to write on the progress with oil pulling. Started with walnut oil and within two days the black floaters in my eye disappeared! I had just visited my opthamologist who said it was just old age and nothing could be done about it. I can't wait to tell her about my OP experience. Skin problems also have nearly disappeared.

He does the program with his wife. I have learned so much from him. I dont think they want me to say his name or else I would tell you and really hate leave my info on the internet.

Multiple Oils Tried

I started oil-pulling the beginning of March; so it's almost 2 months now.

I am 58 years old and have had health problems, such as throat congestion, constant coughing, menopause problems (for at least a decade), sudden weight problems, some kind of growth in my throat (due probably to ingesting splenda which causes thyroid cancer).

In the last five or more years, I have refused to go to a M.D. for any of those problems. I felt that they are merely controlled by Big Pharma and therefore they would prescribe things that would not work or would treat the symptoms and cause greater distress in the future. I would attempt to try different remedies on my own. I knew that spirit would eventually bring me solutions.

Immediately the congestion and coughing almost disappeared and is now totally gone. The growth in my throat is non-existant now.

Let me explain about the menopause. This was a huge problem for me. I could not get dressed up and go anywhere without having an embarrassing bout with perspiration.

I keep a room temperature thermometer at my desk at all times. When I would feel overheated, I would check it. Before oil-pulling it would read somewhere between 68 and 71 degrees. I noticed that after oil-pulling, I might get warm, but the room temperature became got higher and higher during the course of these two months. Recently I would get hot, look at the room temperature; it was 76 or more degrees. I can say now, I can go anywhere and do anything without a problem.

I have learned through these years, that despite the propaganda about menopause symptoms being merely a natural occurrence, in reality they are your body telling you that it has reached a dis-eased condition and to do something about it (other than taking hormones).

I feel and have the energy of a teenager again and my libido is same.

I am currently checking out whether I can loose weight with OP. This will take considerably longer to give you the results. To follow directions as suggested, and taking full advantage to the promised raise in metabolism, I try never to eat anything without first doing OP. I'll come back in a year to give you the results. But so far it seems to be working. I think that it works by lessening the glycemic effects of carbs, possibly lowering the amount of insulin in your body, based upon my experience with not getting so drowsy after a meal. I can actually stay awake after a meal now!

I initially used organic olive oil, because that was all I had on hand. It would never turn white, and gags you, btw. I can clearly see why they recommend sunflower or sesame oil.

I start the OP proceedure by brushing and then flossing my teeth. Then I set the timer for 20 minutes and op with 1 tablespoon until I feel a bit of mucus released from my throat at about 8 minutes. I spit that out and do another TBs. of oil. I ususally only make it to 18 mins. and then I brush my teeth, gums, and tongue. I flush several mouthfuls of water, and drink down at least 8 oz of water. I do this always before meals. To increase the anti-microbial effect between meals, I drink tea sweetened with xylitol (which starves the little bastards!). Now I hope there is nothing toxic about xylitol, but you never know with these corrupt corporate criminals that control our government today. As a result of the xylitol tea, my mouth feels cleaner and cleaner all through the day. I hope I have helped some of you. Love and light, Susan

I started oil pulling about 4 days ago. It sounded crazy to me, but with such outrageous testimonials, I decided to give it a try. I've always had slight yellow tinted teeth, and so far they are a bit whiter (I've officially pulled 5 times now). But my biggest thing that I am so excited about - on 4 of my bottom teeth, at the base of the gums I had bad decay stains. It looked so ugly to me and I've been really self conscious about it for years. Well, after the first 3 pulls they are 80% gone. My dentist had told me that there was nothing he could do for them. But I guess he didn't know about oil pulling! My hair is also much softer and fuller and my skin is feeling much more supple and moisturized. I'm excited to see what changes in the next month or so!

I found that my tongue felt amazing after the first time. It was pink and CLEAN. no matter how much I scrub with my toothbrush my tongue never seems to feel that clean. As well I found that the skin on my face was softer and smoother, my pores were smaller. I was afraid that I would breakout in "Adult acne" but i didn't!!!!! As far as all my other ailments, the jury is still out. Stacey

I'm ashamed to admit that even though I have been "natural" my whole life it never occurred to me that dentistry could be as bogus as western medicine. There is a place for dentistry for sure, just be cautious.

My tale: In 2000 when I was 40, I had a root canal/crown. Infection persisted afterward. Dentist prescribed antibiotics off and on.

I quit eating ALL forms of sugar (except fruit) and grains in 2002. My infection disappeared. It returned a year later when I began eating grains occasionally. My new dentist treated it with antibiotics 2 months then INSISTED I see a surgeon. The surgeon explained he would have to dig out the infection and perhaps any fragment of root left in my gum causing the infection. I didn't want to die so had the surgery.

3 months later my infection returned. The surgeon told me there was nothing he could do except extract the tooth, after costing me nearly $8000.

I came across Dr. Weston Price research. I also read about countless cases like mine on the Net. I am not saying it isn't possible for infection to spread. I am just stating my experiences. The infection continued on and off for 14 years. It was pretty much always there. Not overly bothersome, but definitely there, going away for up to 2 months sometimes. I have been infection free for just over a year. I can't say for sure it is gone forever or if my remedy was the cure. I started oil pulling once a day for 20 minutes with organic cold pressed olive oil or coconut oil. I started oil pulling for my gums, having the infection leave was a bonus!

To be fair I must add I am very healthy. I eat 80% or more raw foods. nothing processed, so these results might not be attained by people with poor diets.

To Wwtd;

Oil pulling effect on tooth infection...

I think the oil pulling definitely is keeping the infection at bay. The effect is to draw out the infection and eliminate rather than letting it fester. The long term duration of the infection means it is deep and on going from a single source and no doubt the original root canal was the cause.

I use colloidal silver two or three times a week as a mouth wash, holding a mouth full for a full minute...a FULL minute. And I make sure that my whole tooth structure top and bottom are saturated during that minute. (I also drink two tablespoons of CS twice daily.) I use CS before and after any trip to the dentist.

Better But With Side Effects

I have been oil pulling about 3 weeks. But, recently I had been itching none stop for the past 2 days. I was wondering is this part of the process because I do not want to stop oil pulling because the way my teeth now feel. Plague stopped building up on my teeth and they absolutely feel wonderful. They feel as if they have had cleaning and a polish. I hope that the itching will stop just as the sensitivity in my teeth and headaches subsided. If anybody can clear this up for me I would be grateful. I have recommended oil pulling to my family and they can see a difference in the color of my teeth.

Did you mentioned what oil you were using and whether you have any allergy problem prior to the itching problem.

I started oil pulling 4 days ago with 100 percent virgin olive oil from Italy. I started due to a gum infection. This is a miracle cure! My gums are already feeling better and an added bonus for me is that for over 15 years I have had a little bit of fluid in both of my ears that no medicine has been able to get rid of. My sinuses are draining and one ear is almost completely clear. I feel the post nasal drip and my nose runs in the day clear and this wonderful treatment is not only helping me with my gums, but it is helping me with my sinuses. A small gap between my teeth has also tightened up. I have more energy and I feel better then I have in years. I am only doing it for 10 minutes a day and once a day. I had my husband do it today and I will wait and see his results. I won't be stopping this anytime soon.

Better But With Side Effects

Has anybody tried oil pulling for hormonal issues? I've been dealing with hormonal problems and gigantic uterine fibroids for years. I have too much estrogen or too little progesteron. Probably candida problem as well. I've been oil pulling for two month. I missed a day or two here and there, but not much. Started with extra virgin/virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil, then extra virgin olive oil, now coconut oil again. It definitely helps with my hormonal issues, and my fibroids, which is why I don't want to stop, but ever since I've started oil pulling, I've been having some serious flu-like symptoms. On and off, mostly on. Mainly sinus problems (that seem to be candida related) and bad fatigue. I'm pretty sure this is healing crisis, but how much longer is this supposed to last? It just would be easier not to give up knowing how much longer to hold on.

Thank you for your advice! I did one thorough colon-liver cleanse 2 months before starting oil pulling. I'm aware how amazing cleanses are, unfortunately I find them very time and money consuming. I'm already using apple cider vinegar and all kinds of herbs that are good for the sinuses and are antifungal. I'm also using colloidal silver nose spray and xylitol-grapefruit seed extract-saline nose spray to treat my sinus infection. Taking cayenne pepper capsules helps with the fatigue. I've just checked out turpentine and borax, never knew they were so beneficial. I knew about iodine, I just somehow never got to try it. I will give these a try, thank you for the tip!

@ Perla:

You say you pull in the morning, and that's fine, but most of the bacterial growth happens overnight, and so that's when I pull, in the evening, just before bed, I may scrape my tongue as well, but I only OP for 20 seconds and spit, then I repeat two more times. I have chronic gum issues, so my 1st spit is red, then second pink, and the third runs clear and I leave it on my teeth so that the natural antimicrobial feature of the coconut oil can give some protection overnight. Best Wishes

Fantastic! Did you start off doing the oil pulling 3 times per day, or did you gradually increase? Can you please share how long you oil pull each time? I've heard 20 minutes is needed for full effects. Thanks!
