I tried the Oil Pulling remedy and found my mouth felt very clean and 'lubricated' - almost like my mouth was younger inside!!! I recommended it to my sister, but I am a little concerned because she is on thyroxin for her thyroid. Does anyone know of any adverse effects from using OP alongside thyroxin?

started oil pulling 20 dec 07. have used olive, safflower, hemp, sesame, oils. also i have had others try the pull also. so far noticed from safflower are teeth got white, gums felt firmer, sinus's cleared, allergies diminished. from hemp i got sleepy. others that tried olive it immediately raised their mood levels and depression. gout pain eased with only one olive oil pull. i also add a couple of drops of peppermint in the tablespoon to kill the germs and open the sinus's too. sesame did not get any immediate results maybe because it is toasted . all in all everyone i have told that used it have been very happy with the results. only problem is trying to explain to them how it works. so i tell them that it works like oil in an auto engine that catches dirt and when you change the oil the dirt comes out. my nephew that is a plumber in oregon relayed that to me when i was trying to tell him to do the pull he automatically understood how the process could work. in his profession he stated that plumbers work with oil and water all of the time. smart nephew i have.

oil pulling cleared my sinus's on first pull.started 12-20-07 it also cleaned the teeth, stopped me from catching a cold, seemed to tighten a loose tooth i had. i was using safflower at that time. i tried olive oil and referred that to 3 of my clients they all reported a mood improvement on the first pull. i tried hemp oil it made me go to sleep. sesame oil i tried it seemed to draw the most toxins into it. to increase the odds for good outcomes i drop about 3 drops of peppermint oil on the tablespoon then fill the rest with the oil. tomorrow i will try the safflower with oregano with oregano being about 2 drops since it is so potent. to get people to do this i had to figure out a way to explain to them how it works and while telling my nephew who is a plumber he finally explained to me how that pulling process works. he said in his trade they deal with oils and waters all day long. he said whenever oil is around it attracts dirt, grime, water, and anything in its path. so when you put it in the mouth it attracts and collects dirt and grime that floats through the body. my reasoning was like an auto engine that uses oil to filter the car engine and other parts of it. but i tend to like my nephews description best about oil absorbs anything in its path.

I had a Sinus infection that started in April 2006, I found out 8 months later is was an infected root canal, which led me on a battle for my health, Traditional Medical and Dental professionsals had me ping ponging back and forth between them, i see now due to their ignorance. had my mouth cleaned up a month ago all metals out, have been detoxing since and feel better and worse at the same time. Started oil Pulling 2 1/2 weeks ago and noticed the Sinus infection has improved and at the same time feels a little worse, can Ted comment on my situation? I feel that the benefits of Oil Pulling can help more than anything, the Biological Dentist had a Homeopathic MD take a saliva test to make sure all metals were out of my mouth before they did a Cavitation surgery on the infected tissue left behind from infected tooth. My question is does it take time for sinus to heal? Any feedback from anyone would be most helpful. Thank You, Toni

I found this site because I was searching for a rememdy for the whiteness on my tounge. I struggled with the idea of OP for about a week and decided to do it. The first time I did it I did it for 20 minutes, but immediatly noticed my tounge was nice and pink again. The second day and beyond(now on my 5th day), i got a cold sore which I get very infrequently, and I also would get weird headaches too, so I hope it is s good sign. It is one of the worst cold sores I have ever had BTW, and I also felt real sick for a little while and sluggish. It almost feels like things are trying to leave my body. I am going to keep it up and see what develops, and will post my results later.

I tried oil pulling for the first time this morning and it had an incredible effect on my thrush. Not only that but my gums have already almost completely stopped bleeding. I've been on medicine after medicine for thrush but each one makes it worse and the doctors were stupmed. 1 session of oil pulling (I only did it for 5 mins to start off) has gotten rid of most of my thrush except the thick parts in the back of my tongue. This is truely amazing.

About 8 months ago, my wisdom teeth were giving me so much pain I could barely speak, much less eat. The dentists would tell me to go to a surgeon to get them removed and the surgeon would tell me to see my dentist because they weren't out enough to be removed! After about 2 weeks of this non-sense, a friend told me to try oil-pulling. After the first 4 days, I started seeing results! My teeth weren't hurting so much and they felt cleaner. I haven't visited a dentist since then, nor any other doctor. I haven't even gotten a cold this year!! I used to get a cold or fever or sinus infections (you name it) every few months with the change in the weather, but not this year! I had a sore throat 2 weeks ago but that lasted 2 days and I was better already! My face looks brighter and I feel more energized as well. I would recommend this to anybody, whether you have problems or not. It's absolutely amazing! I feel healthier now than I did 5 years ago! Thank you so much for sharing this!

You all had me nervous the whole night before I began my Oil Pulling. It didn't taste bad, and I didn't gag. I did it for 15 minutes the first morning. It was more like an exercise for the facial muscles. I hope to see whiter teeth. I also hope my Dentist notices an improvement in my gums!

I've been oil pulling for about a month now. I use Sunflower and Sesame Oil. I like the Sesame (Not toasted) better, but i'm all out so Sunflower it is! My teeth are whiter, my energy is up and my head seems more clear than usual. If you haven't tried this, do.

I'd like to alert Maria from BC that the removal of amalgam fillings is quite hazardous. She should definitely search out and find a dentist qualified to do the work and not just an ordinary dentist. DAMS (Dental Amalgam Mercury Syndrome) is a not for profit organization that can send a list of dentists in your area who specialize and who you can interview before submitting yourself to the mercury removal.

I had immediate relief from a tooth injury from a bad dentist. I can't really explain how it works, but I also sleep better, too. I used extra virgin olive oil first and then sesame seed oil. When I first did it, the tooth pain stopped. I had a terrible taste of metal in my mouth which is one of the reasons I really knew this was pulling toxins out. I also fell very weak and run down for the first two days and then very energetic! I believe it is very helpful and don't know why I did not hear of this sooner as I am very much into the alternative health. Thank you for posting about this!

This is a first for me, I just happened to browse the net and noticed the words "oil pulling". My dentist wants to extract 11 of my teeth and I'm finding that rather drastic. I definitely have gum disease, he's going to do a cleaning next Monday and then start extracting on Wednesday. I'm not so sure about that as of yet. I just did my first 20 minute session of oil pulling with EV Olive Oil and I must say, my mouth feels refreshed and the only sore spot in it is where the hygenist placed a metal plate yesterday and it actually scratched the inside of my lip, so that, hmmm well, it feels much better now. I believe in alternative treatment due to a wonderful skin specialist, who cured me of a horrendous skin infection years ago with the use of plain water out of the tap. My problem never came back, so I'll give this oil pulling a try and I'll be back with feedback.....

I stumbled across this website looking for a cure for my allergies. I have missed weeks from work due to allergies in the last year. I used ACV and that helped with the allergies but I still had some problems. I started oil pulling and I could really see the toxins leaving my body thru mucas ect.. After two weeks my allergies have been cured and I feel great.

Reply to Nay about Oil pulling. The instructions say to do it BEFORE you brush your teeth. Maybe that is why it isn't working for you.

Hi, just wanted to share with you my cure for an infected gum -- hydrogen peroxide. Also wanted to respond to Subashini from Kuwait, because I may have an answer for her about the bad breath and oil pulling.

My story (I'll try to be brief)... got a piece of food stuck in the gum behind one of my front teeth. No matter what I did -- floss, oil pull, swish peroxide -- it didn't come out. I then went to a new dentist last week to have my teeth cleaned and the stuck particle removed. Lucky me -- the hygenist was just filling in for the day and during the teeth cleaning part, said she saw something dislodge but then "lost sight of it". Okay, fine, I thought. That night I awoke in the middle of the night with terrible bad breath. It was so bad it actually woke me up. Yes, I do have sensitive smell!! When I looked at the right front tooth the next day, I noticed that the gum was severely swollen, from the tooth to the roof of the mouth. The bad breath also persisted. I started my holistic regime of oil pulling, then later swishing with hydrogen peroxide. The oil pulling, like Subashini said, made my breath worse. YUCK! I tried swishing with sea salt. No luck. Finally I had the idea a couple of days ago to soak a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide and then hold it (tightly) to the swollen gum for 10 minutes. I also pinched another h202 soaked cotton ball to the back side of the tooth where the piece of food had initially lodged. Interestingly, it didn't hurt, but certain areas of the gum turned white. 10 minutes later the white had disappeared. Glad to say that my bad breath smell immediately disappeared and has not returned. My gum is looking a little better. A couple more days of this (soaked h202 2x a day) and I think I will be back to 100%. I highly suggest this technique if you have a tooth abcess or swollen gums from an infection. It is the best way for hydrogen to penetrate, otherwise it just turns to foam if you swish it around in your mouth.

So Subashini, I think your issue may be an infection somewhere in your gums that the oil pulling is bringing to the surface. Infection smells like dental plaque -- quite disgusting. My suggestion is to pull up your top lip (then pull down the bottom lip) in the mirror in daylight and look for redness in your gums. If you can pinpoint an area, then soak it with hydrogen peroxide cotton ball 2x a day for a day or two. I would predict that your issue of bad breath will immediately go away, even after you oil pull.

Oh, one more thing. You will need to bend over a sink whilst holding the cotton ball to your gums and let your saliva run out. You may need to do round 2 during the same session. Most importantly, you don't want to swallow anything! Rinse well afterwards. Hope this helps someone, somewhere. All My Best, FR
