I've just started oil pulling with olive oil. It's only day 3 but I am just amazed .What I do is I oil pull for 20 or more minutes then I wash my mouth out and then brush my teeth with a mix of turmeric and bicarbonate soda (this I was already doing before I started oil pulling). After a few seconds juices start seeping out endlessly from inside my mouth, nose continously runs and eyes keep watering. I presume this is a detox and built up toxins seep out. Then I cough up masses of phlgem from my lungs. It's white, thick and this morning there must have been about half a glass or more . These effects come when I brush my teeth afterwards with the turmeric and bicarbonate of soda and not with the oil pulling alone nor was this happening when I was brushing my teeth with the turmeric mix before I started oil pulling. So this must be the effect of the two combined. Thanks earth clinic because I can breathe much more easily now.

I have terrible dryness as if the cells of my body are not assimilating water, and have suffered from terrible congestion, resulting in lack of sleep; literally pacing the floor all night when my sinuses are really bad. I found this site and immediately started pulling with organic cold-pressed sesame oil. I did this faithfully for a week, with no difference. What am I doing wrong? I read the testimonials and had such hope. Perhaps for a chronic condition it takes much longer? Please advise, I am desperately trying to cure this.

I thought it sounded crazy. But I am always game for a healthier me. This morning was my first try at "Oil Pulling" and I had Immediate Results! my sinus cavities cleared up Immediatley. I can't wait until I reap the benifits from the Mollasses and ACV.. I'm turning everyone I know onto this site. thanks Earth Clinic

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I was curious about trying this oil pulling that everyone was talking about on the website. So, I went to the store and bought Organic Unrefined Sesame Oil (cold pressed). I oil pulled today. I wanted to spit it out after a minute or two. I don't know why! I hung in for just barely ten minutes and spit it out. I was rinsing out my mouth with water when all of a sudden, I felt sick. I started coughing and gagging a little bit. I then spit out a tiny gob of gray phlegm. Ugh!! Where did that come from?? I feel a little tiny ache in my stomache and throat and, I have a bad headache now. But, my mouth feels clean like I just brushed my teeth. My nose was stuffed up before and, I felt a little congested. BUT, now, I don't feel like that. I can breath fine. Maybe that was what that gray gunk was!! I'm definitely going to keep trying this out to see what else happens. I'll keep you updated. : )

I went to health food store twice yesterday looking for correct oil; the only cold pressed oil that they had was olive. I could hardly sleep with excitement of my first oil pulling... After 2 minutes I had to spit out oil because of mucus in throat. Yellow. Again for maybe 3 minutes I swished oil with mucus in throat, spitting out white substance. Another try for about 2-3 minutes, I spit out white substance and coughted up 2 globs of white thick mucus. Dry heaving and wanting to vomit over toilet bowl. I could have swished the oil around for the full time but for the draining mucus in throat. It was not unpleasant having the oil in my mouth at all as I was using a nice fine olive oil. I'll continue tomorrow morning and trust that with time I'll be able to manage 20 minutes. In the meantime, I am most grateful for this information.

I read about oil pulling on your site, we were looking up benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar, tried the pulling two days ago because everyone at work is getting sick. The first morning I did it, I could tell immediately during and after it was really helping to bring up the phlegm, I was alot more clear. Today was the second day and I am 100% clear and feel somewhat more energetic. I am using expeller pressed organic sesame seed oil for 15-20 mins each morning while bathing. I think its going to be great -- I will let you all know.

... I had my braces tightened this morning. My teeth were killing me all day, then when I got home, I took a dessert spoonful of cold pressed, unrefined sesame oil and oil pulled. It really helped and now my teeth don't hurt as much, so if you know anyone who has braces, tell them!

I recently tried oil pulling - for about a week and it really cut down on my tooth sensitivity a great deal to the point where I didn't think about my toothaches. I did it with olive oil. So glad to see all of the positive comments.

I was wondering where oil pulling ends and going back to the dentist begins again, though. I have a cracked tooth that I was advised needs a route canal. It is edgy and feels rough on my tongue. I know I'll have to revisit for this at some point.

What else can be done? I have read people dealing with these types of issues themselves especially if there is anxiety involved.

Also, how do people ultimately deal with the pressures that the dentists usually put us through in that chair when we get a checkup/cleaning?

It is sometimes hard to get around...especially if you really need their care for a dental emergency down the line.

Thanks ahead for commenting and advising!

Why do all that gross swishing of oil and spit for 20 minutes? Just swish a small sip of hydrogen peroxide for 2 minutes then spit it out and rinse your mouth. This is even better for oxygenation of the gums and promotes healing of minor abraisions of the mouth and will not burn your mouth. (if you have a beard don't let it get on your beard especially if it's tinted or it may turn white. If you do rinse the beard immediately).

Oil Pulling Has Cured 14 Year Gum Infection

I'm ashamed to admit that even though I have been "natural" my whole life it never occurred to me that dentistry could be as bogus as western medicine. There is a place for dentistry for sure, just be cautious.

My tale: In 2000 when I was 40, I had a root canal/crown. Infection persisted afterward. Dentist prescribed antibiotics off and on.

I quit eating ALL forms of sugar (except fruit) and grains in 2002. My infection disappeared. It returned a year later when I began eating grains occasionally. My new dentist treated it with antibiotics 2 months then INSISTED I see a surgeon. The surgeon explained he would have to dig out the infection and perhaps any fragment of root left in my gum causing the infection. I didn't want to die so had the surgery.

3 months later my infection returned. The surgeon told me there was nothing he could do except extract the tooth, after costing me nearly $8000.

I came across Dr. Weston Price research. I also read about countless cases like mine on the Net. I am not saying it isn't possible for infection to spread. I am just stating my experiences. The infection continued on and off for 14 years. It was pretty much always there. Not overly bothersome, but definitely there, going away for up to 2 months sometimes. I have been infection free for just over a year. I can't say for sure it is gone forever or if my remedy was the cure. I started oil pulling once a day for 20 minutes with organic cold pressed olive oil or coconut oil. I started oil pulling for my gums, having the infection leave was a bonus!

To be fair I must add I am very healthy. I eat 80% or more raw foods. nothing processed, so these results might not be attained by people with poor diets.

To Wwtd;

Oil pulling effect on tooth infection...

I think the oil pulling definitely is keeping the infection at bay. The effect is to draw out the infection and eliminate rather than letting it fester. The long term duration of the infection means it is deep and on going from a single source and no doubt the original root canal was the cause.

I use colloidal silver two or three times a week as a mouth wash, holding a mouth full for a full minute...a FULL minute. And I make sure that my whole tooth structure top and bottom are saturated during that minute. (I also drink two tablespoons of CS twice daily.) I use CS before and after any trip to the dentist.

I tried organic virgin coconut oil for oil pulling which I had never heard about until now and I love it! It actually solved my oral issues when not even commercial mouth wash would, including my toothpaste! Unbelievable, if I hadn't tried it I would not have believed it, but I told myself, (what can I lose, so , I tried it and after about a month to a month and a half, great results, my mouth has totally healed! ) . I even read the website "wellness mama" and the other health benefits of extra virgin organic coconut oil and wow, even changed my toothpaste from flouride to the same mixture on this lady's website to try it out and it works! I am also looking into anti-inflammatory foods and detox foods to aid in better over-all health and flush out the toxins for myself and my family. I've always tried to watch what I eat and eat healthy, but there's always room for improvement. I do what I can, though, given a very tough economy still right now, so this coconut oil pulling is really helping and I think I'll stick with it.

I have used coconut oil for oil pulling the last 2 days. Part of my gum is inflamed today, like red, puffy, and it feels kind of raw when I touch them with my tongue. I looked everywhere on the internet, and haven't seen anyone with the same experience. Is this normal? Are there ways to heal the gum or should I just keep pulling? I do have lots of fillings and 2 root canals. Thank you!

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I had done OP off and on from the time I heard about it, which was more than 20 years ago. Sometimes , due to certain reasons I might have stopped for a short while , and would have totally forgotten about this therapy.

Then few years back again I started it, and did it regularly 3 times a day, and that was the time got so many blisters in my mouth. I still continued with great difficulty , thinking it was okay, as it must be all the toxins coming out and they would go away, as Sesame oil is also good for treating ulcers anyway in India.

But then I could not even open my mouth it was so painful, that I had to visit a doctor and get medicines to get rid of the blisters. After that, I decided I will not try OP.

Now again I suddenly remembered it and as I am in my 50s with all the associated problems related to this age, I thought I would start again.

So I started with once a day early in the morning and slowly as the week progressed I have started doing it twice a day.

Till now I have had no problems and I really like doing it.I also have not noticed any positive changes in me, but that is okay, we have to give time to healing to see results. I am willing to wait. I feel I must have got too excited and had started doing 3 times previously, that is why too many toxins were released and caused the blister problem. This time I am more sensible, if I see some problem, I would reduce it to once a day, and see when I can re start it to twice a day, or even stop it for a while I have no doubt in my mind regarding its goodness. I have done it both with sesame oil as well as coconut oil. I don't like sun flower and olive oil. I would keep alternating between Coconut and sesame oil.

I will soon get back with my updates.

I have found that walking around or even sitting upright in a vertical position is not ideal for Oil Pulling. Recline your body 45 degrees and the pull is much more effective.

I came across oil pulling while looking for a holistic approach to oral care. I had a filling break from my tooth and I didn't want for it to rot out like ive seen in other people's. So I tried it, at the time I only had evoo, and although the results are awesome, the after taste made me gag. I did the evoo for two weeks, the difference was noticeable, whiter teeth, just an overall clean ( fresh from the dentist type of clean). Then I bought some coconut oil. Way better tasting, same results!! I'm glad I found this technique and recommend it highly!!!

To Clio51 from Manchester. According to Ayurvedic books, oil pulling should be done in the early morning before drink or food with sesame oil. In twenty minutes the oil should look white when expelled. Then rinse mouth several times. The action is on all energy points on the tongue , that is why oil pulling benefits all body organs.

I have done it now for almost a year and loose teeth are firm again. Otherwise my teeth have whitened over time. Other benefits may be there as I have no other issues. Keep it up. Om
