Re: Oil Pulling

I started OP about 4 days ago. (2 tsp 2x day, only a few min as I gag easily) 1st day was fine-felt good, lots energy. Day 2 , Same- but my skin looked great so I did one more time, same amt and time. No sleeping improvements like Id been hoping for yet. But day 3 woke up and had a stye near my tear duct-so no OP.Day 5=6 and eye hurts and not improving, plus now a small swollen area under same eye. Any help or feedback appreciated. I so badly would like to maintain OP schedule. By the way, Im vegetarian, low dairy consumption, generally very healthy; justed wanted to try. However my mouth and gums not that heathy-could this be the source?? Thanks for any help.

PS-to the message i just sent-Forgot to mention the oil I used was "100% expeller pressed Sesame". I did also notice cleaner teeth but wondering if that is because of the brushing teeth with baking soda afterwords and extra mouth hygiene in general?

If you are brushing your teeth more than normally, and of course, the baking soda, this, no doubt, has had a positive contribution.

However, many of the things that stain our teeth (tobacco, tea, coffee, chocolate, wine/dark beer, oral bacteria) are not that easily removed with brushing, even with super-duper whitening toothpaste. Oil removes oil, as well as tars and plaque/tartar. The right oil will not only cleanse, but leave a minute protective layer that helps prevent further staining -- that is if you're not brushing with baking soda.

Substitute one or both of your brushings with castille soap (it does not taste bad at all, and if you get one with lavender, actually quite pleasant) and rinse with a little salt water (sea or kosher). I only brush with baking soda just before bedtime.

I use a little sesame (can't stand the taste) mixed with a little safflower or sunflower oil, and occasionally a little coconut oil. While it is always preferable to get the best one can, I, and the other people I know who dabble in oil pulling, have very little disposable income, and we just get the best oils we can off supermarket shelves -- no adverse effects, and many positive results.

Just one little word of caution -- many people actually start feeling under the weather to varying degrees a few days into an oil pulling regimen. This is part of the detoxification process, and how long a person's malaise will last depends on the level of toxins in their body.

I have just started oil pulling to try and cure my tiredness and keratosis. But I worry whether it is safe to detox using oil pulling if I am breastfeeding? Does anyone have any ideas?

Oil Pulling. I've been Oil Pulling since December 2007. I started because of dry eyes. I can't say that it helped my dry eyes but some of the benefits are truly amazing, in my case.

I've worn nail polish most of my adult life and, therefore, have yellow nails. After oil pulling for several months, the yellow disappeared. Now that's amazing. Additionally, without prompting, my dental hygienest asked if I was doing anything different. She said I know you drink red wine but you hardly have any stains whatsoever. I go every 6 months for cleanings. I also believe the dark circles under my eyes are much less noticeable. No one ever says... "you look tired." like they did before.

Lastly, to those of you who have asthma, I did too for about 15 years. Chiropractic fixed that. I had an x-ray which showed an old back fracture and my alignment was terrible. After about 9 months of treatment several times a week, I decided to stop my daily inhaler. Very nervous doing so. CURED. Chiropractic cured me. That's all I can say.

Hope this helps.

This is just a wonderful website - I have learned of many natural remedies that work wonders for all sorts of ailments. Oil pulling is a technique that I haven't heard of before, but am going to give it a try - it sounds like it's good for a number of things. This last week I've experienced severe acne (out of the blue) and am hoping this combined with other antidotes will help clear up my skin. Will be posting updates about my experience with oil pulling...

Yea: I was suffering from intense sinus head ache pain from a prolonged sinus infection. I read about oil pulling and tried it twice the first day I felt better that day. The next day I felt like a million bucks. I had been suffering with this for two weeks. I couldn't believe how quick this worked for me. I had tried antibiotics, the netty pot,and decongestants but they did not relieve the symptoms. It is now the third day and I still feel better. I can smell again.YEA! I will continue oil pulling once in the morning.

I'm on my 4th day of oil pulling and what I feel is very strange: Tingling all over my body except my face as though my blood had little needles and poking me all over. wanted to know if that was normal?

Just want to thank earthclinic for it's awesome website, you are the best. I first tried the oil pulling on 08/02/08 and it has done wonders for me. first thing it's done is corrected my digestive system and in only 13 days I'm loosing my bloated belly, my face is glowing, I'm sleeping much much better, I have energy to spare, over all, I haven't felt this good in over 20 years from a day to day period. just can't thank you enough.

There's just one question I have about how offten you should use this method. OK, today is the 13th day of my using it. I noticed that this morning after my 20 min usage when I spat it out it was still yellow, does this mean that I've cleared out all my toxins for now and would need to wait a few days then go back because I did a repeat later on this afternoon and got the same results. what ever your answer is, I will continue to do the oil pulling it's just too good not to continue using.
May God Bless all of you!
Lela

I found your site in June of 2007 because I allowed a dentist to talk me into repairing a chipped tooth, he even claimed he wouldn't do any drilling. But he lied & drilled so deep into my gums a nerve was damaged. I was in non stop pain from the time I left his office dispite the novacane, which got worst after it wore off. I could not sleep & cried every night for a month, almost going to the emergency room but determined not to go back to him and fearful of dentists. After searching the net I tried your herbal remedies for the pain and started oil pulling. And within a few days the pain was gone and the only thing I did to maintain it was the oil pulling. I continued it for about 9 mos and felt the tooth must have healed by then so I stopped oil pulling and about two months later the pain returned but there was swelling this time and I was told I must definately get a root canal asap. Instead I started oil pulling again along with ACV and the swelling went away and the pain stopped again. I also recently found a great book about healing cavities and tooth infections called Cure Tooth Decay by Ramiel Nagel. He has a website I believe is www.curetoothdecay.com. He advises what foods to eat to recover from cavites and pressure tecniques to restore the bodies hormonal balance which I barely tried but was amazed that they seem to work right away and I felt a difference. That tooth is now almost 100%. No sensitivity to hot or cold & I can chew any kind of foods no matter how hard, & the tooth no longer feels weeaker than the others. Unlike before when I had to chew certain foods like steak or nuts on the other side of my mouth.

Thank you for this information. I have been very foolish. I have not been to a dentist since 1990, when I lost the health insurance I'd been using until that time. I have had health/dental insurance for the last 7 or 8 years (through my employer), but my head has been in the sand, because I've been afraid to learn that the dentist will want to pull all my teeth. So that's over 20 years of no professional dental care (yes, I know that's crazy).

I just started oil pulling with Organic Coconut Oil 10 days ago, hoping to resolve some serious health issues. I'm not completely confident yet that it will work for me, but I'm continuing. So far, my back teeth have felt much less loose, and their hot/cold sensitivity seems to be reduced. My teeth look really good (I receive regular compliments on my beautiful smile), but of course, I've been worried about their health. I hope that continuing OP will help to save my teeth, now that I'm smart enough to try.

Shemika, just one question: What kind of oil do you use for pulling?

I started oil pulling for 20 minutes in the morning. I didn't always remember to do it and sometimes I would spit it out and forget to drink water afterwards. I also started using a toothpaste with Thieves oil. One day (now a week) I awoke with my mouth and lips inflamed and full of sores, some bleeding. This has been very painful. I can only drink liquid foods and have a hard time talking.

One other thing. I am not an athlete. I went to an athletic camp for a week from 9-11 and became extremely hot with lots of sweating.

I have a sense that I am going through a rough detox. I swish with HP and drink aloe vera juice along with smoothies I make with papaya/banana or beet greens + beet and carrots.

Any thoughts?

To those who have sores/infections after OP: did you follow the directions closely? It says that you are supposed to rinse your mouth and nose out with anti-bacterial solution (salt and/or baking soda). You are also supposed to drink water after OP, and you are supposed to use a naturally anti-bacterial oil like sesame oil. You are basically bringing up all sorts of germs from your system through delicate mucous membranes, and if you don't clean said membranes after OP, expect problems! As for the tooth alignment issues, most likely you had a preexisting condition (maybe deep pockets from poor oral hygiene) and after the OP removed the bacteria your tooth shifted.

One other note: simple toxicological tests indicate that anything put on the gums will flow to the connective tissues around the organs of the body. This can be shown in a lab! So there is the potential for the health of your gums to directly impact your internal organs and visa versa.

Hi Jamie, Could you please detail your oil-pulling schedule? What oil do you use? How long do you oil pull? How many times a day? At what times? How much of a time-gap do you maintain between your eating and oil-pulling? Thanks!

I have been oil pulling for 4 days. I used to smoke two packs a day and drink so much coffee I ended up in the hospital with caffiene intoxication. My teeth look so much cleaner and are starting to get white. They had been terribly stained. I work nights, 12 hour shifts, and always have big black bags surrounding my eyes. These bags are almost completely gone and my skin looks so clear. I also starting drinking 2 tablespoons of ACV in 8 oz of water before each meal. My skin is really starting to glow. My energy is reaching levels I have not felt in years. I am in my mid forties. I am really starting to look younger. This upsets my wife very much. She is upset that I am being stared at now by others whenever we are out together. She sees the differences in my appearance and energy but for some reason will still not try oil pulling or ACV. I am going to start keeping a journal and track the changes in my appearance and energy. I am so pleased with the results and it has only been four days!!!! I am enjoying being "noticed" so much more when I go out. It always nice to know that others find you attractive. I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!! I will continue with both of these practices for the remainder of my life. It is so cheap and yet the rewards are so tremendous.

Since OP uses food and some food exacerbates certain types of arthritis, I would suggest trying a different oil. Look up which foods are contraindicated for your issue and then stay away from oils in that family.

To Mona from Bangalore: Do not stop rinsing your mouth with sesame oil. I had rhumatoid arthritis three years ago in my fingers and wrists of both bands. Not only did my arthritis was completely cured in three months, but also my puffed up face which was due to allergic rhinitis (cattarrah). Further this practice also cured by wife's 20 year old bladder infection, the numbness on her thigh; my daughter's and niece's tooth ache; dark circles round another niece's eyes and some other cures about which I hope to post in details. Wish you good health and good luck. God bless you.

I have been reading the oil pulling feedback, and it seems a lot of people lose their fillings or are afraid they will anyway. What everyone should know about mercury amalgam fillings is that when all the mercury has leached out of them they will get loose and fall out whether you are oil pulling or not. It is possible that oil pulling may speed up the process of getting the mercury out of these fillings, which I think is a good thing as long as you are spitting it out. When we chew and breath we are ingesting mercury and mercury vapors from these fillings. They need to be removed anyway as soon as possible (by a dentist who knows how to do this safely >only) and replaced with some safer material. So in my opinion (worth 2 cents at least) if your fillings come out it is a good thing. Go get them replaced with a mercury-free filling material. Just my thoughts on the subject, everyone should do lots of research before doing anything. Thanks for the website, I really love it, and all who contribute for this valuable resource.

I had a cavity in my wisdom tooth when eventually the tooth began to loosen and caused me pain. I started oil pulling in an effort to stabalize the tooth. The OP had eliminated the pain. After a month the tooth did not stabalize. But the tooth loosened up enough for a family member to yank it out of my mouth. The gums did not bleed and the gums closed up with out complications. When I examined the tooth I noticed that the OP had created a natural filling in the cavity. This amazing proof is why I continued to oil pull besides the other results of whitening of the teeth, stronger enamel and knowing I will never have to see a Dentist again to remove tarter, teeth or fill cavities, etc. I have been Oil pulling for 1 over 1 year and could not be happier with my over all mouth health.
