I use tincture of iodine (everyday) on skin ulcers which refuse to heal. Sometimes I apply iodine 2 to 3 times a day. I never miss a day when treating squamous cell carcinoma. The area being treated by the tincture of iodine often becomes very sensitive or itchy...don't discontinue the iodine...keep applying iodine on the ulcer. The itchy skin will scab up...it's just the healing process. Scrape off the skin if it again develops a white flaky patch or a brown scab...then, apply more iodine. Use the iodine for at least one to two months until the skin ulcer has completely disappeared. Then, use Retin-A cream to complete the skin rejuvenation process. Use Raw Organic Palm Fruit Oil along with the iodine to promote deep healing and also use Raw Organic Palm Fruit Oil along with sun block to prevent future skin damage. The ulcer patches have developed on my hands and lower arms. One skin damaged area shows my skin separating on crease lines on top of my wrist. The day after I applied the tincture of iodine to the separating skin, the crease lines showed signs of healing, as blood circulation appeared in the area. The areas I treat are all about the size of a quarter, which is larger than the freckle-sized spot. I figure the underlying skin damage takes in a larger area and it may only show up on the skin as a small freckle-sized spot. Last, everyone will ask you why you are using iodine on your skin...it's orange...it's sooo old fashioned. Don't let the embarrassment of orangey skin stop your self-treatment...it beats having a doctor remove the cancer and leaving you with holes where the carcinoma or melanoma used to be. I use this treatment on all skin problems, to include possible melanoma. In addition to the topical treatment, I plan to add a daily dose of Lugol's Iodine in my drinking water. I want to treat all cancers and other health problems from within. I have red hair and white skin with lots of freckles, and I am very sun sensitive. I have been terribly burned year after year while growing up in California. I am now 56 years old, and the skin cancer is just starting to appear. That's why I feel it necessary to add the Lugol's Iodine daily to my drinking water.

Ovarian Cysts

I took iodine for an ovarian cyst. It made it go away. I had been taking Depoprovara shots every three months to stop the formation of the cyst. I also gained twelve pounds. I stopped taking the shots and went on a diet and lost the weight but the cyst problem returned. This time I used iodine and it worked better with no weight gain.

Generally iodine skin test are not reliable, yes. But iodine doesn't evaporate easily either. Try spilling povidone iodine on a bed mattress. It is still there after almost a month (I still have it). I spilled it by accident. Even on my towel it is still there (yellowish color) after several weeks. On the skin it is very unlikely that it will stay that long, even with hydrogen peroxide to detect presence of iodine as iodine salts react with it to cause the color to come back still will no longer be there for several weeks. Therefore the issue does not appear to be evaporation and air pressure, although it is a factor, but a minor one. It appears to be taking a bath or human sweat likely to wash out at least some part of the iodine, especially its salt. However in areas not subjected to sweat, such as knees, they still disappear faster than the iodine staining on a piece of cotton, cloth, wood and other things that we like it to stay clean. When everything is discussed, you just have to get an iodine tested in urine by a iodine tests to check the presence is a more accurate way. It involves taking an iodine tablets and they use a starch tests to in the urine to see if the body is absorbing or not. Those are better tests and you just have to buy their kits.

Hi. I read on your site about someone's experience with painting iodine on the skin, having it disappear overnight, and then reappear after applying hydrogen peroxide. Here is an excerpt from a site I found: From the published data, the skin iodine patch test is not a reliable method to assess whole body sufficiency for iodine. Many factors play a role in the disappearance of the yellow color of iodine from the surface of the skin. For example, if iodine is reduced to iodide by the skin, the yellow color of iodine will disappear because iodide is white. In order to regenerate iodine on the skin, one needs to apply an oxidant such as hydrogen peroxide, complicating the test further. The evaporation of iodine from the skin increases with increased ambient temperatures and decreased atmospheric pressure due to weather conditions and altitude. For example, the yellow color of iodine will disappear much faster in Denver, Colorado at 5,000 feet above sea level then Los Angeles, California at sea level, irrespective of the amount of bioavailable iodine. This was taken from the site: http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/updates/UNIOD-02/UNIOD_02.htm . Just thought you might like to know.

Iodine and Pregnancy: Hey all, I listen to a show on gcnlive.com called the Power Hour 8am to 11am EST, they have extremely good health shows.. And I have heard two in the past year and a half on Iodine.. This past friday was one, and the doctor on there said that iodine is extremely good for pregnant woman and babies.. He said it will increase their intelligence up to two years old.. My son is 11 and I give him 12.5 mg of Iadorol and I take 50mg a day..He said your body will get rid of what it doesn't use. Also painting it on the skin will only absorb 7% he said.. He said the japanese are the healthiest people in the world and one reason is they get 13.something .5 or .8 a day.. also potassium is very important and magnesium. But he said that the iodine has been proven to make a baby be born more intelligent. And we are extremely deficient in iodine in the States.. You can get the potassium from Black Strap Molasses.. I tried the ACV for weight loss and started gaining so I changed to 1/2 c. ACV 1 TBSP. Black Strap Molasses and 1 TBSP. Cayenne (store bought) Pepper and I weighed 149 when I woke up which is normal then when I ate gained my usual 2lbs.. but then as soon as I started drinking the ACV concoction (it was my second day) I went back to 149. Was really exciting.. Plus it gives me energy.. So I mix it in a one quart jar of water and throughout the day keep pouring it in a 4 oz. glass with a straw and sip it whenever I feel low on energy or just want some.. and I just keep mixing it up when I run out.. I am excited to see if I lose weight tomorrow morning.. Just thought I would pass these along.. Wish I would've known about iodine when I was pregnant with my son.. He has comprehension problems and that may be one cause. (you can get Iosol or Lugol's and it's in liquid form iodine the Iadorol is pill form and easier to take..) I hope this helps !!! Sherry :) P.S. Disclaimer I don't give medical advice this is just for your informational purposes.. As the power hour also disclaims..:)

I had been reading about Iodine and how it could get rid of different skin lesions, so I decided to give it a try on several Sebaceous Keratoses on my torso, several quite large. It has worked wonderfully. It took about 2 weeks for them to go away, and I applied it 2x a day most days. I put it on with a q-tip and let it dry before getting dressed. I sometimes scratched them lightly first with a emery nail file before applying the iodine. I use the Lugols, because I also take it by drops internally each day.

I have had at least 10 moles removed by my dermatologist, and after they were burned off (they usually burn, or freeze them), It took about 2 weeks for the cuts to heal (depending on the depth of the cut). Then, once the skin was basically healed, a pink mark was left behind. After a while (usually a month or two), my color would return and blend in with the surrounding area. Some of the areas that my dermatologist cut left a hole in my skin, which has never filled in. So far, Iodine has removed moles from my skin, but never left any holes (depressions) in my skin.

i have candidiosis and mycoplasms that have caused a number of skin problems among other things. So far I have tested iodine on vaginal warts and they are shrinking! also helped alleviate chronic rashes, itching and sores. also, used it on my cat who had a lung infection that did not respond to antibiotics, and rubbing it on her chest seemed to do the trick. i am very impressed and am looking into recipes and other ways to use it.

For 4 days I have been applying Lugols Iodine to my nose polyp, once in the morning and at night. Has reduced in size and shape. Before was very red, now looks like color of surrounding tissue. Will continue this experiment and report to you the outcome.

thanks for mentioning the jcrows.com site to purchase lugols soln. i just ordered a small bottle. There will be government regulations starting next month relating to iodine products, posted on their website, because they are used to produce methamphetamine, but we will still be able to buy it in small amounts for health purposes. i am so sensitive to cold. My hands and feet are always cold. I feel really chilled when it's 60 degrees outside when other people aren't bothered. I love this site. In a short time, i've started oil pulling, altho i might try an alternative remedy because i have metal fillings, acv, and molasses. i'm feelng and looking better. i forgot to mention i'm taking MSM and have noticed my carpal tunnel pain almost gone. thanks again

Thyroid Issues

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Well it's a weird story because I think Iodine helped me and then didn't do so much good. I had a pain like "something stuck in my throat" and the acupuncturist thought it was my thyroid so she gave me potassium iodine drops to drink (20 or 40 a day - remember it is not regular iodine); and these were great to alleviate the pain and gave me the strength I needed to move, because I was in a point of suffering all the symptoms of a thyroiditis or a thyroxicosis; but then I took Ibuprofen and when the swelling of my thyroid was coming down, the iodine felt terrible so I stopped taking it! I really never knew which was the perfect dosage for the potassium iodine drops! I also took kelp, around 20 pills divided in 4 or 5 times in a day and they helped me a lot, but I was never sure if this is what I needed. I end up going to a specialist who immediately asked me to leave the iodine because he thought the help was just psychological, and charged me 250 dollars for saying this! I hope the traditional doctors learn about the iodine to properly help their patients. And I also hope that people who is suffering the hyperthyroid symptoms and hypothyroid too, should consider having some iodine to help ease the pain and problems. What I recommend very urgently is to have a blood test taken meassuring your thyroid levels (TSH and T4 and T3) way before taking the iodine or Kelp, because it can change those results and affect your helath or, worst, doctors might end up giving you the wrong medication - (as it happened to me and thank God they couldn't harm my thyroid too much!). Hope you all get well! Think that you will! Maria J.

I read here something about iodine curing skin tags, so I decided what the heck. I used the iodine twice a day on a skin tag on my underarm, and nothing much happened for a while, other than the skin around it getting red and irritated, but then this morning, the skin tag was black. Later on, when I went to check it, it was gone!! Wow - it really works. Thank you for this informative and fun website.

Iodine Interactions

WARNING!

I took one tablet of Iodoral (iodine supplement) a day for a year, my blood calcium and alkaline phosphatase levels rose to above normal. A year later my blood test results were even higher, so the doctor gave me a PTH (parathyroid--which sits right next to the thyroid) blood test, and it was very high. As the only thing that I had changed in my life was taking Iodoral, I quit taking it, and 3 months later all my tests were back to normal. The parathyroid's job is to take calcium out of your bones and give it to the brain, but too much in your blood can mean heart attacks, strokes, and osteoporosis. There really aren't any symptoms of an over active parathyroid until it's very bad...feeling cold all the time, brain fog, are two. If you've been supplementing with Iodoral or iodine I suggest you get your blood calcium level tested, then alkaline phosphatase, then PTH (which is expensive, so save that for last).

I'have been experimenting with several remedies. I have been doing the HP inhalation for a few weeks now but only when fatigued. I use a throat spray bottle and spray a few times until I cough while inhaling, that seems to be the only way that I can determine that it's not just coating the back of my throat. I notice that it works almost immediately to get me out of that "desperately need more sleep" haze. It lifts that "heavy" feeling. I tried it again 2 days ago when I only got 4 hours of sleep with the intent that if I did the HP inhalation and it worked AGAIN then I would be convinced. I'm completely convinced for fatigue purposes at this time. I intend to increase my usage soon.

Also, I read where someone mentioned using iodine on cysts. I am using it on a cyst (may be caused by an ingrown hair or not!)on my shin, about the size of the circumferance of a sharpie marker. I started this a few weeks ago and was applying the iodine once a day for about 3 days straight. Then I forgot about it. I just happened to look this morning and it has shrunk by about half and the skin on top just peeled off. I will be starting up again today to see if I can get rid of it completely over the next week or so.

I have Candida but no insurance and I was trying a product that has been rated as the number 1 recommended product. Unfortunately, it felt like my kidneys were not happy about it so I had to get off of it. I am going to try some other methods to see if it helps. I'll post when I know more.
