At that point I checked on EC and read about using garlic. I placed a small clove directly against the gum in a very painful area. It burnt for the first 3 or 4 minutes but then I was able to leave the garlic there for about 20 minutes.
With just one application of garlic, there was a noticeable relief from the tenderness and pain. I repeated the garlic clove application a few more times that day and then again the following day and was elated that the inflammation was completely gone over the entire left side of my face. I am so thankful for Earth Clinic and so thankful that our Creator gave us all of these natural cures.

I just wanted to chime in here with what I use to stop the delicate gum from being in contact with garlic, to stop the burn - I simply slice the clove to the size I want, and leave the skin on for the gum side! Easy-peasy.

Ive had tooth pain before but this was the worst pain I had ever had! I dont know why but wont go to the dentist. My usal clover oil, vit c pills treatment did not work. Top right 4th tooth in from back, pain started to go just under cheek bone and I tried the eatting fresh garlic x3 times a day (morning, arvo, night) instant pain relief to my disbelief!! By 3rd day only minimal pain, 6th day pretty much all pain has gone. It trully works. Thank you all for writing up your garlic experience because it made me try it...new found garlic chewer.

I chewed on a piece of garlic as long as I could. When it started burning I just let the garlic juice sit in my mouth on the toothache side. Then I spit it out. I had no pain! Thank God for this remedy!!

I had a toothache that lasted around two weeks. I tried salt water which usually works but it didn't this time. Next thing I tried was tea tree oil and oregano oil. I put one drop on an interdental brush and flossed it in the gap next to the painful tooth. Then I swished the oil and saliva around my mouth for ten minutes before spitting it out. The pain went away for a couple of days then came back. I went to the dentist who took an x ray and said it's not a tooth infection should be a gum infection. I really didn't want to take synthetic antibiotics as they kill all the good bacteria. So I tried tea tree oil and oregano oil again. This time two drops in two applications, one after the other, in the gap and swishing for half an hour. This controlled the pain but it kept coming back after an hour or so.
It was getting really painful so I did some research and found this website and tried raw garlic. I sliced a clove into thin slices to avoid burning my mouth and put one slice at a time between my teeth and chewed it then held the crushed garlic in my mouth as long as I could before spitting it out. Probably five to ten minutes. I took about two cloves this way over the course of two hours. It worked very well, the pain went to zero, but I had garlic burns on my mouth and tongue. I didn't really mind the burns, the pain relief was so good. Next day I used the same slicing method but I tried putting half a teaspoon of honey in my mouth before the garlic slice to reduce the heat. It worked really well. I also tried (separately not together) olive oil, coconut oil and water. They all worked to reduce the heat and the burning of the garlic. I also started swallowing the garlic/honey or garlic/oil mixture after holding it in my mouth a while. After two days of taking four cloves a day in this way the pain was gone and didn't come back. I was so happy that I got rid of pretty severe pain from a gum infection naturally.

Initially when I tried the garlic I chewed it up and the taste was so strong it was very hard to keep it in my mouth as it burned and I didn't seem to get any relief. I continued through the list and tried oils pulling with black seed oil and castor oil, chewed a couple of cloves and made Clove tea, rinsed and soaked the tooth in diluted hydrogen peroxide, and basically tried everything in my cupboard that I thought might fight the infection and inflamation. None of it helped.
I finally gave up and got ready to drive to hospital, but before I left I sliced a single Clove of garlic length ways down the middle and placed it between my cheek and the affected tooth and gum. I did this hoping id get the benefit of the juice from the cut side, while avoiding burning the hell out of my inner cheek. It worked! By the time I reached the hospital at 4am the pain had almost completely disappeared and I turned around and drove home. I slept with a new half clove of garlic tucked in the same spot and got a good 4hrs sleep before my kids woke me up. Im not entirely pain free but the pain is very minimal and compared to last night its nothing. I'm planning to keep a few sliced garlic ready to use throughout the day. If I can make it to Monday I at least avoid the cost of an emergency dentist.
This is the first time I've posted here but I'm so grateful to have found this community many years ago. Its helped me so many times.

I noticed a difference right away, but especially after second day, however my skin was also raw from the contact. I've dropped it down to 1/4 clove chewed for about 20 seconds at night only. I feel no pain at all. I might start stretching out to every other day. Thanks EC.

I've had a tooth that was sensitive to cold liquids for over 3 weeks now. I've gone to the dentist a few times for regular check-ups, but neither dentists I've seen found anything wrong with this particular tooth. Well, it had took a turn a couple of days ago, and it started to hurt when I bit down on it. Near the gumline of the tooth, there was a bruise-like coloring, which is probably where the pain was coming from. I tried clove oil by putting some drops on a Qtip and rubbing it on the gums below the tooth. It numbed it for a while, but the pain came back. I came online and found out that I should put 2-4 drops of clove oil in 1/4 water and use it as a mouthwash. That worked for a bit. I just tried the garlic remedy, and that helped alot more. I took a clove of garlic, cut it in half, and placed it (sliced part) on the tooth and the gum below it. Then, I decided I would just use the garlic to cap it over the tooth and gum. That burned ALOT so I washed my mouth with water, and it felt better. I did it 3 more times, and that bruise near my gumline became a normal flesh color again. I was totally shocked!!! The pain is not there either when I bite down. I'm now gonna try that garlic infused water and rinse my mouth with it. I threw in 3 partly crushed cloves of garlic in a cup of water and boiled it in a pan. I'll be rinsing with it throughout the day. I also forgot to mention that I sliced garlic into thin sticks and used it like a toothpick to get to the gums between the infected tooth and the tooth next to it. It may be thin, but it burns, too.
