Eye Infection: Someone told me about the Lugol's Iodine and it can be used for the eye infection I have in my right eye, I've tried everything else, doctors, hospitals, eye washes, antibiotics, and can not get rid of this infection in the eye lid. Do you think the iodine will work? I"ve tried homeopathic remedies, Echinacom and Infectistat, Colidal Silver, and I just picked up some Oreganol. I'm wondering if the Lugol's Iodine will help.

Raw potato juice works very well for pink eye. Take a raw potato and blend it. Then take guaze and soak it in the mixture. Place on top of the eyes. Get a cloth to wipe any excess that may run down your face. Let it stay on the eyes for 10 mins or so. It should relieve the itchy burning immediately. Do it several times a day. The potato mix will not keep, make a small amount each time.
Black Tea Bag

Black tea and salt water cured my conjunctivitis.
Yesterday I woke up with a really itchy, bloodshot left eye and it got worse throughout the day. Then, this morning I woke up and my eye was all gooey, stuck together, swollen, and red. I never go to the doctor, even though my husband has great insurance, because I know all they do is prescribe antibiotics or some other pills from a laboratory and I do not want to mess up my body chemistry. So, naturally, I went to Earthclinic instead. First, I brewed two black tea bags in 1 1/2 cups of hot water. Meanwhile, I decided to try rinsing my eye with a concentrated solution of sea salt in warm water. I did not measure it, but it was quite a salty concoction. I used an eyedropper and put a few drops in my eye. It stung a lot, but I felt like it was working. Next, I used the eyedropper to drop warm black tea in my eye and it was SO soothing. It took all the stinging away! I then laid down and put the tea bag over my eye. Whenever it would cool down, I would put it back in the warm tea and put the other on on my eye. I repeated this procedure until the tea was cooled down. After that, I fell asleep again for an hour or so and when I woke up my eye felt and looked almost back to normal. Thanks Earthclinic!

Flax Seeds and Aloe Vera Juice

Flax Seeds and Aloe Vera Juice Cured My Eye Infection.
This remedy was given to me by the owner of a health food store who learned it from her grandmother: For any type of eye infection (mine was bloodshot and pinchy upon waking in the morning--possibly Pink Eye), she does the following:
Pull out the skin "pocket" below the eye and insert at least two flax seeds or as many as you can get in there. Then put a drop of aloe vera juice on the eye. Leave seeds in overnight or up to 24 hours, then remove them (they will be gummy after drawing the bacteria to them). If eye infection isn't cleared up, repeat for another 24 hours.
Notes: flax seeds can be purchased at a health food store and must be kept refrigerated. Aloe vera juice does not need to be refrigerated. Do not put contact lens in eye while flax seeds are there.

I didn't believe the tea bag cure, but figured it was worth a try to save time and money of going to the doctor. I treated both eyes as I knew from past experiences that they would both be infected soon. I brewed two tea bags in a glass of water, let the bags in the boiling water until it cooled down. I then put the bags without squeezing them dry on my eyes for 15-20 minutes. They did leak a bit so I put a towel around my face and sat back in the easy chair. I also did let some of the liquid drip in my eyes. I did this three times yesterday, and today I'm ready to go out in public! Even my family couldn't believe how fast they cleared up! Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks for this website, When I woke up on August 3 I had the pink eye. I tried that day treating it with saline solution but it continued to ache and the eye was red. However, I checked this site and found a remedy. That evening, I made green tea and applied the bag to my eye and allowed some to drop in my eye. Instantly the pain and redness was gone. When I woke the next morning the pink eye was completely gone. Thank you, this is awesome. Now I have a natural cure for the rest of my family.

When my daughter was young I read in a home remedy book to mix 1 part baby shampoo to 10 parts warm water. Use a cotton ball to clean outside of eye to remove mucus from lashes, then numerous times each day wash eye with same solution, warm is easier on the eye. It worked on my daughter each time. We now use it for the grandchildren when the need arises.

Baby shampoo is the best! The trick is to keep using it twice a day until you are sure the pink eye is gone, usually about 3-4 days. I just pour it on my fingertips, lather them up with a bit of water and rub the closed eyes with the shampoo. I always try to open my eyes just a teeny bit so the shampoo can get in there. It doesn't hurt or burn at all. Afterward, rinse well and dry. Sometimes I follow it with coconut oil (usually only at night though) rubbed onto my closed eyes.

Hi Nancy,
so good to hear the CS worked for your eye. I am thinking of getting CS for list of protocal I see for virus. I woke up couple days with terrible headache and coughing like crazy…raw /scratchy throat today. but I see folks saying take the CS to fight virus. I am scared as its METAL that I will be drinking and its going to be in my body. I didnt think our bodies is to take in foreign METal. Reason why I never had any kinds of Flu shots…I learned flu shots has mercury in it!!!! why would I want that in me. lol. So this Colloidal Silver….that is metal…..isnt that bad for us to put in our body.

Hi there. I just recently bought colloidal silver for the treatment of my pink eye. It first started in my left eye about 4 days ago. I used some antibiotic drops left over from when my children had it just the week before. Woke up about yesterday with my right eye completely swollen and discharging. Couldn't afford to go to the doctor again so I bought some CS. I did my first dose, 2 drops in each eye, at 1:30 pm and it started clearing. Did a 2nd dose, again 2 drops each, at 4:30pm. Still fine. At about 7:45pm I did my final dose, and my right eye instantly swelled and became irritated, red, discharging again and was very painful. I'm wondering what I did wrong, or if I am having a reaction. I don't believe its a reaction necessarily because my left eye is fine. The ppm of the CS is 50.
Any advice on what to do? I really want to stop the spread of the pink eye as we have a very full house and its already made its way past my 2 children, myself and my nephew. So I'm trying to prevent it passing thru my husband, brother and niece. Should I discontinue the use of CS or is this normal? I've never used it before so any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
-Thank you

Keratoconjunctivitis Remedies

I did see my optometrist and he made the diagnosis of keratitis conjunctivitis in my eyes. Prescribed Tobradex drops, but I don't know that I want to go that route and it is very expensive. I have been treating myself with collodial silver and it helps, but does not completely take it away. Does anybody know of any natural or home-made remedies?

I think I overdid it! Started putting drops in today and was doing a drop every few hours. Eye seems even more irritated now. What do I do? Stop using it? Keep using it but only twice a day? What did your mom do when she realized she overdid it? Should I rinse it out?

I work in a large office that was formerly a warehouse. In August, while on vacation, I had a flare up of red eye. First in both eyes, and after visiting an optometrist and using Topomax, now in my right eye only(still). He said I had an upper respirtory(sp) infection that settled in my eye. I saw my MD and he gave me antibiotics which didn't help and I also went to an opthamologist who didn't see a problem. Could something viral last this long? In the past week I've been taking two Benadryls a day, which seems to help somewhat(especially with the runny nose and gritty eye feeling) but I don't want to take them forever! I've also noticed that when I use the computer in a darkened room, my eye really burns.
I mention the building because four of my coworkers have also developed eye problems (suspected pinkeye, iritis, etc) and I'm wondering if there is something in the heat/air system that can be causing this! I thought that since I was up in the mountains when I contracted this, maybe I inhaled a spore or something(if that's even possible).
I would really appreciate some advice on this!

I've had pink eye 3 times in my adult life. I've successfully used colloidal silver to take care of the infection -- 1-2 drops each eye, twice or thrice a day.
Currently, I'm dealing with a chalazion that seemed healed, but now is back. I also have a concern about mold in our house under the flooring and/or in the foundation which I suspect has something to do with my susceptibility to the eye problems and our son's allergies--to dustmites. Your suspicion of contracting something from your environment may not be too far off.
We'll have the foundation checked out, but in the meantime, I am drinking lemon water, plus I've started to use castor oil every night. For the last 3 evenings, it has started to draw the infection out from the chalazion and I am getting a sound sleep each time I use the drops.
I had lasik surgery several years ago, so dry-eye has been a problem. The castor oil also seems to help with keeping them lubricated. They don't feel itchy at all. My hope is that the using the castor oil as maintenance will have a positive effect on not only the chalazion, any would-be infections, but also treat the floaters, bloodshot-ness and pinguecula I have in both eyes. If you live or work in a windy area, always wear sunglasses that would protect your eyes from anything blowing around. The wind would bring on pink eye in my eyes, the dry weather exaccerbates it too.
I was also considering doing the Master Cleanse to see if that would have an affect on my current health problems.

Hi Lattelisa - I too have tried colloidal silver for pink eye and found that, with applications several times during the day, within a day or two my eye was clear; the pink eye never fully developed.
Two days ago I had a sore throat - it hurt so bad I could barely swallow - it felt like strep in the making. I doubled up on echinacea and took colloidal silver in water 2 or 3 times and ~ VIOLA! Throat is feelin' fine.... Gotta love it. Here's to our Health, by natural means.....Linda

I had really a bad case of conjunctivitis. I made up a mixture of 1 part baby shampoo and 1 parts water in an eye cup and wiped it over my eyelids with a cotton ball. Next, I applied the black tea bags and drizzled it in my eyes along with 2 capsules of eye-bright dissolved in the tea. I found it more effective to pour the warm tea in an eye cup and hold it for about 1 minute on each eye. After a couple applications that day, by evening it had cleared it up. I used Blink eye drops for moisture since my eyes still felt a little dry. Probably from the baby shampoo mixture. When I awoke the next day, for the first time in my life my eyes were clearer than they had ever been. Thanks so much for the tip!

I tried this method. It works wonders WHILE the tea bags are on.... But I waited for the 15 minutes as instructed..... Not much help. I do admit though, the warm tea bags were VERY soothing while they were on. Sadly, I can't have them on 24 hours a day.

I just read somewhere in cyberspace about a gentlemen who when a Polish grandmother spit in the eye of his brother, his family got real mad. He was 7 years old and his brother was only 5 years old. But his pink-eye was cured by the end of that day. And the lady across the street apologized profusely but identified saliva as a natural cure for pink-eye (conjunctivitis). He says that since then he just swishes water around in his mouth when a doctor diagnosed him as having pink-eye. He says that the doctor told him that there is no known cure for pink-eye (conjunctivitis) other than an anti-biotic placed in the eye and that it takes a week for the anti-biotic to work. However, he says he has found that his own saliva kills pink-eye (conjunctivitis) within a day and it only needs to be done once.
Now, I'm not sure if saliva only works for viral conjunctivitis or bacterial as well...So.... having had pink eye for 2 days now (and I'm almost 100% sure it is bacterial conjunctivitis due to the massive discharge I'm having, mostly in the morning, but also periodically throughout the day)... I just tried it. No swishing, no water, just a teaspoon and a tissue. I spit in the spoon, tilted my head back and poured the spit in my left eye while holding the tissue against my temple. Then I did the same for my right eye. The slimyness of my spit made my lashes hold together for a minute. I just kept blinking to try and be sure the saliva was spreed into all areas of my eyeball. Then I wipped the excess off of my lashes. 10 MINUTES LATER AND I AM AMAZED !!!! The burning and discomfort I have been experiencing for 2 days was gone in minutes. My vision is clearer, and yes in only 10 minutes I can for sure see that the veins and dark red lines that were throughout my eyeballs is VERY diminished. My eyes feel SO MUCH better ! I will report back tomorrow to update my progress.

I forgot to add to this posting that I found out what they do in China:
In china, human saliva is used to prevent or cure conjunctiva. The mother licks the newborn eyes (since it only attacks the eyes, it is safe to lick it away).

If you scrape a white potato with a small hand peeler, and put the scrapings on your eyes with a bandage over it this might help. I do it and leave them overnight and it has cleared up conjunctivitis, made me see better also! I would try it for your dry eye syndrome also!
