Avoid Aluminum Deodorants

Years ago, back in the day, I would use a roll-on, underarm deodorant before going out on a date! (We usually washed as well! ). It was quite fashionable back then. Trouble was the kick in the teeth that came along with it!!

The following day I would get a sty in one of my eyes - always the same eye but I have forgotten which one. Took me a while to join the dots as it were but I would normally NEVER get an eye sty. What was going on? Dashed uncomfortable - felt like a rock in the eye.

Someone alerted me to the fact that there was aluminium (or 'a-luminum' as you say over there) listed in the fine print on the back of said container.

I kicked the thing into touch and have never looked back as it were. Smelly dates were better than styed eyes.

Hope this major scientific discovery of mine helps some other folks as well!

Cheers from Down Under

Michael

Baking Soda

Sure, just baking soda in a lil bowl, add water and mix until paste consistency, dip gauze or face washer into mix and hold onto eye, while lying down. You'll find it's very soothing, also I did not let my boy wash the residue after, I think it definitely helped. The more frequent you can do is best, baking soda used to be called the universal medicine, and it was after reading it's many uses, ( I lost the article however) I decided to try it. It's worked better than tea and colloidal silver. And no stinging. Sorry I didn't see your question sooner

Yes, the gold ring method totally works for me. I've used this twice now and it's very effective!

Castor Oil, Gold Ring

Hello Queen,

Using underarm deodorants with an aluminium ingredient can cause this problem of a Stye in the eye. Most of them have this ingredient unfortunately. I can assuredly speak from personal experience on this matter. It happened a couple of times to me before I cottoned on and made that connection. Easily solved if you know and can source one without aluminium.

Cheers, Michael

I tried the castor oil, tea bags and baby shampoo on a very big sty, and these remedies have worked wonders. First l washed the eye with baby shampoo, and amplied hot to warm chamomille and green tea bags. Then applied with a cutetip the castor oil. I have been doing this for the past three days and the inflamation is almost gone. I was looking like a monster, was really scared to the point l was ready to go the an eye doctor although l do not have insurance. Thanks for being Earth Clinic!

Yup! It works. My husband used baby shampoo on a terrible Sty he had on his lower eye lid. He was skeptical, but used it in the shower and let it just naturally drip on to his eye ( while washing his hair ). Gone in two showers. Too bad he waited so long heeding my advice!! :)

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar cured my sty! I was taking it for another issue I was having, and soon after starting, I noticed that a sty that had been on my eyelid for over a year was getting smaller! I didn't use anything different so I am contributing this to the apple cider vinegar. Now it is completely gone and my eye isn't puffy anymore.

Used gold wedding ring to rub on a sty. Within 1 hour it was feeling better. And after rubbing it about 4 times within 24 hours, it was gone. THANKS!

Tea

Tea bags cured my eye styes! I had a sty on my eyelid and one under my eye for over a year. One morning I woke up with another one right on the edge of my eye that was really irritating so I found this home remedy and it worked within 24 hours. I grabbed a tea bag (i think it was green tea, but it most likely doesn't matter) soaked it in warm water until it actually produced tea, then held the bag on each stye for ~15 minutes. I felt instant relief on the newest stye so I then repeated the process and held it for longer each time. 2 of the 3 styes are gone and the 3rd is definitely smaller. I'm sure if I kept at it they all would have disappeared but it is a bit awkward holding a teabag to your eye for long periods of time!

Urine

I woke up with a stye this morning. Urine has helped in the past to get rid of it within the same day. I'm going to try that again... It takes a few applications but I remember it worked in the past.

Baby Shampoo

Baby shampoo will cure a sty in no time. Look closely at the infected eyelash and you will see a waxy substance at the hair line. Take a Q-tip dipped in baby shampoo and simply wipe along the infected eyelash wiping at the waxy substance. The sty will not break, but will discharge the infection back out of the eyelash. The baby shampoo will not burn your eyes and cleaning both eyelids, with shampoo and water, will make yours eyes feel great. I cannot remember where I found this remedy but wanted to share.

Rubbing my gold wedding ring on my eye actually worked to get rid of my sty. I couldn't believe it. I was very skeptical of this idea but figured I might as well give it a try, and it actually worked. I rubbed it a couple of times a day for maybe two or three days.

Tea

Stye (I think that this might have an E but Im not sure)

I had a stye about a month ago and I tried putting tea on the stye. Within a couple of hours it was almost gone. I had read that tea helps with swelling so I gave it a try. I simply put a tea bag in warm water for about 1 minute and then poured out all of the water let it cool a bit (you want it to be warm but not too warm to touch) then use a couple of Qtips to soak up some of the tea (by depressing the Qtip on the warm tea bag) make sure it isnt too hot and place the Qtip with the tea on it directly onto the stye. And within a couple of hours it should feel better. I dont think that the type of tea matters but I did use a Green Tea baggie.

To relieve pressure from a sty within a short time (less than 4 hours). Place a small amount of your first urine discharged of the day into a small glass. Drip a Q-tip in the urine and place Q-tip on the sty. You will feel relief in 3o minutes and decrease of sty swelling with in 4 hours. Label glass and cover with Saran wrap and reapply in the afternoon if swelling and pain continues. Done this trick with great sucess through out my 56 years on planet earth.

I suffered greatly from stys when I was a child in the 50s. People didn't go to doctors then like they do now, you just got over it. I learned to tell my mother as soon as I felt a sty coming, and she would remove her gold wedding ring then rub it across the sty. Relief from pain was immediate and the sty healed quickly. I use this same remedy on my grandchildren. Mom said the ring had to be at least 14K to work properly, and I usually rub their sty a few times throughout day for good measure.

I've had a sty for longer than I care to admit to. I was about to try the potato remedy, but then thought, "Why not give the gold ring a try?" I used a thick, 14k gold ring... and almost immediately, I noticed a difference! It's not completely gone, it could be in the process of still healing, but at least it's not noticeable anymore!

Lavender Oil

I just want to concur..lavender oil stopped my stye from getting out of control! As soon as I figured out that a stye was forming I flushed it out with an eyewash in an eyecup. Then I put colloidal silver in my eye several times that day. The next day the stye was bigger, so I read on this site to use lavender oil. Yikes it stung! ..but the next day it had shrunk. I did the lavender oil one more time that day and the next day..GONE. Two days total, amazing.
