Shaving
Posted by Becki (Plano, Tx) on 07/02/2011
I have a relatively healthy complexion, but for whatever reason the skin on my legs is very sensitive. Whenever I shave, I always get razor-bumps and it almost looks like my razor is cutting into where some of the follicles are because I'll get tiny dot-like scabs along where the hair is suposed to grow. Is there any way to make shaving easier and to make my skin stop reacting so badly?

I don't have such a big problem as you do but I notice that when I shave my legs in bath my skin feels a lot less dry afterwards and not shaved away like when I shave them dry. If you only take showers it might work as well, do it while your legs are under the water. Or else, maybe shaving cream will help!
Lanolin

My 8 month old daughter had horrible diaper rash that got raw and was peeling and at some point was itching. I tried coconut oil, collodial silver gel from my "toolkit" (Read: Earthclinic) but they didnt work. I also tried some OTC treatments and they worked for a little bit but it wouldn't clear.
This weekend I decided to try lanolin that I had bought for my cracked nipples that I got when I started breastfeeding. It is working like a charm, her bummy is getting smoother, is healing and not itching at all! I used the type that was intended for cracked nipples and it works so well. So after wiping her bottom during a nappy change, I smear the stuff on and thereafter put on some zinc oxide cream over that. Its working quite well.

Has anyone use CeraVe for cleansing the skin? My doctor recommended this.
Glycerin Free
Posted by Francisca (Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France) on 05/10/2011
To the lady who asked questions about products without glycerin, including toothpaste. I found a moisturizing oil from Weleda which doesn't have any, neither it has lanolin which also seems to dry your skin. No idea whether the rest of the ingredients is safe. I bought it in France so I have no idea what the exact name might be in English speaking countries but it is a harmonizing Rose oil. Nothing else for the moment but I will keep you informed. I haven't used it yet so I don't know whether it works or not.
Egg
Posted by Heaven (Plano, States) on 05/09/2011
i had been experiencing large pores , due to my very oily skin. what i used was very simple and you normally always have in the home. plain ole eggs- i would make sure that the egg is beat very well and apply it on my skin usually every other day. cleanse the skin throughly first i use a soap that is made by black opal which exfoliates- i love it so much i have to refrain from using it daily and it helps with blemishes and oily skin. and , yes u will feel the skin tightening as it starts to dry.

yes, it's true. Applying plain non-fat yougurt to your hair and skin for 20 minutes or longer befor showering will instantly take car of dry hair and soft smooth skin. It may sound gross, but trust me, I've been using it since I was a kid, and I've never had dry skin.

I read that Silverbeet reversed sun damage to the skin.. So for the past three months ive been taking a serving everyday without fail.. Its absoulutly true! .. The little liver spots have dissapeared. And one crusty scab type thing has cleared up with no scaring. The thing is?.. If it reverses the uv. damage it must be stiching back up the dna?.. So could it be added to anti ageing treatment as well?

How do you take this. In a supplement or do you take the Chard directly... Cooked?... And how much do you take?

I usually buy it from the supermarket in a plastic bag.. After cutting the top off the bag I pull it (the bag) down leaving the tops exposed.. Then with a pair of sissors cut the amount for a serving. This keeps it fresh for days if you pull the bag up and pop it back in the fridge. Then I just sweat it a bit in the wok, usually with some garlic and ginger, and pheraps some tomatoe.. When its done I then fry some bread in olive oil and then put a fried egg on top, but all the rest is optional. Its been about three months, and my skin has never looked so good.. So I'm sure if you do the same you should get similar results.. Of course you could just eat it in a sandwich raw.. but its more pallatable sweated in the wok.

Sorry forgot to say how much.. Well after the tops get cut it just loosly fills my cupped hands. It then gets tossed into the wok with a bit of olive oil.
Shaving
Posted by Jessica G (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) on 02/05/2011
Hello,
I have had recent major rashes and bumps swelling up around where I shave my bikini line. I have always had some razor bumps in the past, but now I have constant large bumps that are sore and swelling that have not gone away for months. What can I do other than to stop shaving to clear up my skin? And why would this happen now? Thank you - Jessica

Hi Jessica G, I was taught by a 15 yr old girl whose mother taught her this trick. She said always shave downwards not upwards and because it doesn't cut so close to the skin it doesn't leave bumps but it also means the hair grows back faster. So the solution is 'shave downwards every time you shower'. You probably need to wait until the bumps have gone away but if you feel that is not a nice idea then just start this way now. Hope this helps. Lily.

I found a great remedy for after shave skin bumps and I used to get them all the time:
I keep the razor submerge in the rubbing alcohol, the whole time it just sits there. I have a small glass for that and replace it with a fresh alcohol as needed. Never had a one bump ever since. and is very cheep..
Fish Oil, Vitamin E

I used to have the odd break-out, particularly around menstruation. About 5 months ago I started taking taking fish oil with vitamin E - a combined oil in capsules. My skin became very smooth, glowing, even in tone, moisturised looking constantly and clear! I got so many compliments about how good my skin looked generally. I stopped taking it for the fish oil for about 2 months, and the spots, blemishes and a general uneven tone started again. I was so not used to it, and used to receiving compliments. So, I'm back on it, and within 2 days, it's as if my body 'remembers' and my skin is just starting now to clear up. I highly recommend fish oil with vitamin E. It will do your nails and hair wonders too :)

This is great information but I have a question. Strengthen weak skin with fish oil - how is it administered? Oral or topical? I take cod liver oil daily. Does that work?

I was just wondering if it is safe to put ghee in your eyes? This is the first I have heard of it and am hesitant to use it. My eyes could use a little whitening so I'm interested to hear some feedback. Are there any alternatives to use in the eye to correct this problem?

For about 3 months now the skin on my left leg above the knee has become very sensitive and now it is on my stomach. It feels as though something has rubbed the skin and made it sore. I have no rash of any kind, no fever or headache in fact I'm in great health except for the sensitive skin. ACV hasn't helped. I have tried eucalyptus oil, lotions and anything I can think of... I need help! I have been under a lot of stress lately. My father fell and broke his neck in Jan. And so I was at the hospital everyday, all day then he passed away in April so now I am trying to help my mother. Maybe, it's stress that causing my problem? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hi Jeepgirl - This may not even be applicable, but if you put a laptop on your lap/knees, you can experience extreme sensitivity in your skin - especially the left side. I've read that the optical drives of laptops are located on the left side and can damage skin. Some people even put their laptops on their stomachs while stretched out on the couch or bed. Perhaps a light massage of aloe vera gel (or even coconut oil) with a few drops of lavender essential oil mixed in might help with the sensitivity until you find the true cause of it. Good luck!

So sorry about your dad. This happened to me and I believe that it was *shingles* brought on by stress, I had exact same sore to touch skin, I never got blisters that some get with shingles just the extreme sensitive skin;try taking supplements to treat viruses like elderberry, lysine, and immunity builders, hope this helps!

This is an amazing site, so many helpful people. I am so impressed. I hope someone can help me! I have been taking the following combination of pills and supplements for the last 2 weeks. Prescription drugs ;
Lovazo caps 1000 2 caps twice a day
Niaspan ER Tabs 1 Daily
Seroqel 100mg 1 Daily
Arimidex Tabs 1 Daily
Simvastatin Tabs 1 Daily
OTC
81 mg aspirin 1 Daily
Calcium 600 w/ Vitamin D3 2 Daily
Grape Seed 400 mg 1 Daily
Hyaluronic Acid 50 mg 2 Daily
Ester C 1000 mg 1 Daily
Acidophyilus 1 Cap Daily
In addition to this I am also taking 3 tablespoons of organic ACV. I stumbled upon this site looking for a natural cure for my Main Coon Rescue that had a nasty ear infection with vertigo that I took in in mid August of this year. I was amazed at all the information that was available not only for pets but humans too. Needless to say, I started reading all the posts and found myself wanting to try quite a few of them which I have. I am now having a problem and I 'm not sure what is causing it. I started the ACV, Grape Seed, HA, Ester C, & Acidophilus in addition to the other medications & Supplements that I have been on for the last 4 years. My facial skin has gotten extremely dry. I have been cleansing my face with baking soda and applying jojoba oil to face and neck. Only my face and neck are extremely dry. I am hoping someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. Prior to adding the above treatments, I had combination skin. I have also ordered Food Grade H202 and now I am wondering if I am doing too much too soon. Haven't taken the H202 yet, as I want to remedy this problem first. Thanks in advance to anyone who has taken the time to read this post and tried to help.

For total skin care read the information on Virgin coconut oil, add at least 3 tablespoons a day to your food as you eat it, use a small amount to massage into areas of skin that have need of improvement. If it was me I would stop taking all oral supplements for 2 weeks (except any doctor prescribe meds, unless you speak with your doctor about a temporary stop) give your liver a chance to clear up, drink a lot of clean water, be sure you are having good BM, s everyday, eat fresh fruit and a lot of green vegs. I would recommend that you go to "askapatient dot com" and do a side-effects search on the drug cocktail you are taking. Its having extremely adverse health consequences on your body.
Cholesterol medications are one of pharma's big scams.
