Osteoarthritis Remedies

General Feedback
Posted by T (USA) on 04/22/2013

I'm 20 years old and have just been told I have Mycoplasma Pneumonia and Osteoarthritis.
I have been prescribed Klacid, but have stopped taking it. Before the anti-biotics the only symptoms I had was body pain in my hips, wrists etc.

After taking the antibiotics, I started to get really fatigued, drained, loss of concentration, loss of motivation, bowel problems etc.

I need advice on what natural things I should take, what diet I should intake and possibly exercise?
I have arthritis in my hips and it is very painful, and my doctor so far has been of no hope

Thank you to anyone who reads this, I need your advise.

Vitamin C
Posted by Tom (Canton, Ohio, USA) on 11/17/2012

I'm currently taking mega doses of Vitamin C for my osteoarthritis. I'm taking 20 grams a day.

My question is this : Should I mix the whole 20 grams in water and sip throught the day, or should I mix us individual "batches" (such as say 4 grams at a time) and take every 3 hours?

DMSO, Castor Oil
Posted by Mike (San Antonio, Tx) on 04/04/2012

Art, thanks for the response. I look forward to trying your DMSO and castor oil mix. Where do you get good DMSO? I see it at feed stores and have wondered if it was good for people. I have also been looking for a good source for HA, that is reliable. I can't find one over 100mg. I believe you said Now double strength. On the MSM, my God they really are doing overkill, it seems to me, in doing 15gr. per day, I however, don't have much to lose. Thank you for offering help/advise. I am going to buy some Now, after my Hylastin is gone. Thanks, Mike

Sir, For the past 3 months I have been on ACV, borax, baking soda, sea salt and occasionally mollasses for hip osteoarthritis. No luck. For the last 2 months I've taken nu-joint, several chicken collagen supplements, at the same time, also knox gellatin, magnesium, and a few others. Again no change. For the last month hyaluronic acid and colloidal silver. No change. Is there anything I should add or detract from the mix? I really do not want a total hip replacement but it is starting to look good for my quality of life. Help! I really need some ideas or help in this. Anyone with ideas? Mike

Hi Mike, You must read Dr Sarno's book on how you can resolve your hip issues. He has worked wonders on thousands of people. You don't need a hip replacement, for sure. Gigi

In reply to Mike from San Antonio: You mentioned that you tried hyaluronic acid, but you didn't say how much you used each day. I found that 300mg per day was a fairly effective dose for me. At 200 mg per day the positive effect was significantly less. I weigh 175 lbs. At 300 mgs per day I first noticed benefit within the first two weeks.

I take 1/4 teaspoon of borax in a liter of water 4 days per week. I use a good glucosamine combination supplement that has the following ingredients in it:

Supplement Facts:

  • Serving Size: 2 Caplets
  • Servings Per Container: 40
  • Amount Per Serving Daily Value
  • Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid) 60 mg 100%
  • Vitamin D (as D3 Cholecalciferol) 2,000 IU 500%
  • Manganese (as Manganese Sulfate) 2 mg 100%
  • Sodium 40 mg 2%
  • Glucosamine HCI 1,500 mg (1.5 g) **
  • Joint Shield
  • Proprietary Blend 1,350 mg (1. 35 g) **
  • Chondroitin/MSM Complex 1,250 mg (1.25 g) **(Chondroitin Sulfate, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Collagen (Hydrolyzed Gelatin),
  • Boswellia serrata (resin),
  • Vitamin C, Manganese, Hyaluronic Acid)
  • 5-LOXIN Advanced AKBA 100 mg **
  • Boswellia serrata Extract (resin)
  • Boron (as Sodium Tetraborate) 3 mg **

I also use Ted's topical arthritis remedy of castor oil and DMSO. I added aspirin, borax and niacinamide to the topical mix to try to improve the effect of his topical.

This combination is very helpful for me and has made a world of difference. I have degenerative disc disease, arthrits in my hips, back , neck, right knee and hands.

Dear Art of tustin CA. Please please tell us the propotion of different ingredient, for arthritis, and degenerative disc disease, which involved castor oil, DMSO, aspirin and nacinamide. This will save us a lot of time to trace back to Ted's recipe and the new improvement you did. Thank you so very much. Cassey. Montebello, Ca.

In reply to Cassey: I started with Ted's topical arthritis remedy and it worked after regular applications. I tried the following variation to see if I could get more relief.

I think Ted's remedy used 50% dmso and 50% castor oil. I used 60% dmso and 40% castor oil. For a small mix that last's me quite awhile I used 3 ounces of dmso mixed with 2 ounces of castor oil in a glass jar. To this mix I added 16 generic aspirin that are labeled as 325mg each. I then added a teaspoon of borax and 5 grams of niacinamide and let the mix sit overnight. The next day I shook the mix vigorously for several minutes and added spearmint essential oil to try and calm down the unpleasant odor of the mix as well as for its antibacterial properties. Shook the mix again and started using it. I'm not recomending or suggesting that anyone else try this, just mentioning what I did and how it worked for me. I also made a point of washing my hands as well as the application area before each application. I found that this mix seems to neutralize the fragrance of the spearmint oil over time so I would never make a larger mix than this and I think a mix half this size might be better so that it get's used up faster. When I first tried this mix, I applied a very small amount to a one square inch area on my inner forearm to test for hypersensitivity or allergic reaction before applying to my problem areas the next day.

I can recommend Devil's Claw for osteoarthritis. I was using tart cherry concentrate with some success but when I switched to Devil's Claw, I suddenly realized the pain I often experienced when hiking or climbing stairs was gone... And I only take half the recommended daily dosage of 2 capsules per day. Each capsule has 500 mgs. I did stop for a while when I ran out and the pain returned so now I wouldn't be without it.

Manipulative Therapy
Posted by Dr Bharti (Lucknow, Up, India) on 12/22/2010

Dear readers,
No other site can be better than earthclinic. Osteo-Arthritis is a disease where apart from pain relief a lot many factors should be considered. First of all it is a degenerative disorder where cartilage is damaged, spurs may be formed, space between the bones forming knee joints may be reduced. Patient suffers excruciating pain, stiffness and disability. As the diseases advances locking, unlocking and rotational movements are also lost. Structures which hold the knee joints also lose their competence. Tendons become less flexible, muscles harden. There are so many options which may temporarily reduce the knee pain. Until structural correction is achieved one cannot get permanent relief in knee joint Osteo-Arthritis.

Manipulative therapy aims at-
Release of chronic tension of muscles, ligaments and tendons forming knees, ankle joints and hip joints. Recalibration of muscles with their relationship, and
Realignment of bones. The following goals are achieved-
Relief in pain
Disability and
Stiffness. Patient may lead healthy life. After the structural correction patient is advised for exercises which may strengthen the muscles. During treatment patient may take pain relief support. In correction very simple tools like straps and ropes are used.

I suffered from osteoarthritis years ago. First only in Spring and Autumn and only on my right knee. The pain would go away with some supplements like shark's cartilage or berry supplements. After a few years nothing was helping and I had difficulty going down stairs, also up but less. Other than that I could walk normally and even run. The doctors all told me that there was nothing to be done, I would have to be on medication for a number of years and then have an operation.

I am 53 years old now and have been pain free for 5 1/2 years. How? Someone told me about a health store in Portugal which had a doctor. I went there and he advised me to use hot sand on my knee which was quite troublesome because I never went to the beach. Then he tried some electrodes and told me to go back a week later. Again he tried the same electrodes and after that another kind which hurt quite a bit. The next day I was almost pain free, left for France, spent quite a bit of time in the sun and the pain disappeared. Till today I have never had any knee complaints again! Maybe it comes back but well, I have gained quite a few years! By the way, I was never overweight and am an energetic person but never did too much exercise.

Hi again Mesem, I never tried the sand but the doctor told me that I would have to warm it up in a pan and then put it in a cotton bag (he was going to bring me some from the beach but he never did because then he decided on the other treatment). I have no idea what electrodes he used but I know that he repeated the first ones on the second session and then used others, more painful ones. Here is the name and address of the shop: Alegria & Chaveiro Lda Avenida 25 de Abril 208c - Pontinha. Phone number: 00351 21 478 53 42. It is located near Lisbon, easy access by underground and the doctor did his studies in Cuba where he still goes from time to time.

All activities are limited and dependent on how much walking I would have to do. Because of this, I rarely go anywhere anymore. I am do to have arthroscopic surgery in about two weeks. I don't like going to the doctors, taking pills or getting injections. So having surgery would be absolute torture for me. I am going to try your remedy and hope that it will work for me too! To Mumtaz & others, I also had arthroscopic knee surgery at the OsteoArthritic "Hospital" on Wellesley off Yonge St. in Toronto, Canada & only after the "simple, day surgery" was told later after a visit to my family doctor about osteoarthritis developing in the future as a result of the arthroscopic knee surgery! After tearing a meniscus and the leg swelling like a tree trunk down to the ankle, then scheduling the surgery after a "Doctor" at the local university sports clinic told me, literally red-faced, that I needed surgery! (which was cleverly sold to me by the operating surgeon Dr. Paul M. Toronto) which was scheduled 8-10 months after the initial injury, the knee and leg swelling went down within a few weeks, full flexibility (i. e. ankle able to touch back thigh) not yet as before the injury, but was much, much, much better by letting time and the body's own healing ability doing its job on its own, and all of this before the surgery! I should have listened to the inner voice and gotten up from the hospital bed that morning awaiting the anaesthetic before the Doc cut into me, even though as one of the hospital team informed me the procedures have become so advanced, "I would hardly see a scar on my leg".

If only I had known what I later learned from my G. P. even though I had specifically asked the operating doctor when I talked with him the one and only time before the surgery that I can expect osteo-arthritis in the knee as a result of the surgery.

I now know this case is not an isolated experience/incident and the guise of this needless procedure and its major consequences on one's life is the sole product of some professionally accredited liars.

I also, feel pain in my hip now on the same leg as the surgery (this reminded me of all of the ppl who were waiting at the hospital for hip replacements and I could not understand how the Creator would naturally make this to occur in our bodies solely on the basis of advanced years?

This I am sure is what is professionally opinioned to all seniors needing this done. Pls ppl do not believe the legalized scams of these professionally accredited con artists.

Good luck to all in your natural cures. Pls see the benefits and, yes, scientific studies done on the benefits of pimento oil (or "allspice" as many know from cooking a hearty meal) for osteo arthritic symptoms. I have not started using this yet as I have just found out about its reported benefits? Looks good, and seeming no need for worry about those pesky "side effects". Thanks.

God did not do the above, it is our own selves that cause our problems in our bodies from all the crappy food we have been given through our young lives and then our choices when an adult. Herbs and spices are Gods healing medicine and that of ancient times. I wish I had know this long long ago, now I too suffer from OA of the spine in the form of DDD disc degenerative desease upper and lower spine. Spinal fusion does not work. I did research on it and it doesn't work. Disc replacement is new and the votes not in yet. Cherry's are very good in many ways see this site: http://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/the-miraculous-properties-of-cherries-330530.html

And the one that mentioned coconut oil, yay for you a fellow believer in the powers of coconut oil, but get the good kind not the cheap stuff. And if you are in the country where they use it for fuel to replace diesel lucky you! I am in the US and no one has done it yet. I was taking 3 tbs a day of melted oil and don't worry it takes fine. I have been forgetting to do it and I feel awful... So I just started now and I am going to get some cherries no matter the cost or juice if I can find it.

Thanks for all your suggestions everyone. Lets heal ourselves and eat Gods way for good health shall we.

Hi, Alittlebitsassy, that happened to me to for the first two weeks, your body is detoxifying. I started with ACV for melasma and spider veins. Melasma improved just a little bit, spider veins got better 50% in only one month. I was not feeling anymore pain on the bones and loved the way my skin start looking, but almost quit because of the bad stomaches and feeling bloated. My mom convinced me to wait a little bit and explained what was going on. I don't regret it, I also lost some weight without even dieting and start feeling more energetic. I stopped drinking it just because of being lazy, but I already started again this week.

Pat Coleby is Australian Animal natural care expert. Many books. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Cures based on mineral deficiencies in our soil caused by super phosphate/modern farming. Promotes use of Dollomite, Yellow Sulphur, Copper, Seaweed meal, Cod liver oil, rock salt & borax.

Been feeding my horses her diet for 4 years - NEVER GOING BACK to modern feeds. ALL problems gone with my horses.
Qld Itch is a copper defficiency,
worms are a copper deficiency,
lice/mites are a sulphur deficiency,
laminitus/founder is a magnesium &/or a calcium deficiency.
arthritus is a boron deficeincy.(Pat takes this herself & still runs a goat farm alone at age of 80+++- despite being diagnosed with osteo arthritus 30 years ago & told to buy wheelchair.

Can't recommend her enough - everything she says proves to be true - amazing woman - highly respected by CSIRO.

Hi Sam, check out the other posts on borax (boron). There is info on the website http://educate-yourself.org/cn/boraxconspiracy03jul12.shtml. The EC insomnia remedies include borax as well. Could be that dimunition in pain levels assist sleep.

Posted by Colleen (Sydney, Nsw, Australia) on 05/30/2013

Walter Last provided this report on his website last year, with full information about borax (the natural, ionic form of boron), how to easily mix a diluted solution, and how much of it to take (costs pennies) - www.health-science-spirit.com/borax.htm.

As he advises, our soils are also depleted of magnesium. Calcium and magnesium are designed to work in partnership. Magnesium moves in and out of bones in order to hold the calcium in proper concentration. Without sufficient magnesium to calibrate it, excess calcium calcifies (ages) the joints, eyes, and eventually the organs.

Dr Mark Sircus and also Dr Carolyn Dean confirm that, the best way to supplement magnesium is transdermally (through your skin). I started this 3 years ago and the changes were dramatic within a few days, because magnesium is critical for virtually every bodily function. None of my GP's ever told me!

This is very affordable. I think the only supplier of the "transdermal" (preferred) form is the marvelous David Dartez - he provides it (online) in the form of concentrated pure seawater and calls it "Magnesium Oil", because of its slightly oily consistency.

Some general practitioners use it to treat children with autism. Pharmacists know about our need for magnesium but most doctors do not (maybe because Pharmaceutical giants sponsor medical schools and influence the curriculum). Borax was removed from the EU market last year, even though it's only as toxic as table salt, so stock up now.

Posted by Wendy (New York) on 11/12/2013

That is not the only provider of transdermal magnesium oil. Please don't mislead people. Magnesium oil can be purchased under numerous brand names.

Hi, Cindy. Thank you very much for this information. Can you please tell me how much sea salt you add to your water and how many times you would drink this each day? Also, how would you factor in the sodium that a typical person eats on a day to day basis? Granted that the source is probably mostly iodized salt... but how often would you drink the water/sea salt? Thank you in advance.

Chronic Dehydration Theory
Posted by Teresa (Kenedy, Texas) on 08/24/2008

The Water Cure

The Water Cure Recipe:
Drink 1/2 your body weight of water in ounces, daily. Example 180 lb = 90 oz. of water daily. Divide that into 8 or 10 oz. glasses and that's how many glasses you will need to drink, daily. Use 1/4 tsp. of salt for every quart of water you drink. Use salt liberally with food. As long as you drink the water, you can use the salt. Avoid caffeinated or alcoholic drinks. These are diuretics and will dehydrate you. Every 6 oz. of caffeine or alcohol requires an additional 10 to 12 oz. of water to re-hydrate you.

Thanks so much! I appreciate the osteoporosis info, esp today! [Edit note: Penny is referring to blurb in our latest newsletter.]

By the way, you HAVE heard about boron for preventing and even reversing osteo-arthritis, haven't you?

Probiotics also rid me of sinus infections, but one needs to gradually work up to take them plentifully & regularly to be effective. A good idea, in my opinion, if one has allergies, IBS, sinus infections or otherwise compromised immunity. I read a scientific detailed report online stating that probiotics bond with carcenogens and "dance" them out of the body.

EC: We wrote Penny for more information:

I think this might be a good link. I think there are others too.

To Jasonmchicago: Ted had previously recommended msm for osteoarthritis, and hyaluronic acid for joint pain/degenerative disc disease. My husband has been on Ted's HA remedy for approx 2 1/2 weeks now, and is amazed at how differently he feels. The pain in his body is disappearing from top to bottom. Ted's remedy really works! Order the HA powder from Purebulk (Ted's recommendation, which is why I used it) or just go to the health food store and get the Now brand that is in capsule form, and includes msm in it. Just open the capsules and follow Ted's recipe for mixing it. Look at Purebulk's instruction page on HA, though, to give you specifics Ted does not mention, such as cold water ONLY, mix every few hours to blend the powder with the water, etc. Just follow Ted's actual recipe of ha powder and sea salt (NOT regular salt! BIG difference! ) Anyway, the reason I wanted to write you, though, is to tell you that hubby is going to now start on the msm for a tiny glitch in his back that he wants gone (although he is now saying that it's feeling so much better with just the HA. ) Read Ted's rather long post on HA. Very enlightening.

I am writing a book on natural cures that the Lord has guided me to write. About 4 years ago I was watching Gary Null on P.B.S. talk about the value of eating organic foods. It seemed reasonable to do since organic foods aren't sprayed with pesticides and also, the soil is richer becuase of the rotation of crops and not using chemicals in the soil. So, I decided to start eating organic broccoli every day. Also ,at that time I had osteoarthritis in both of my knees. I was already eating regular broccoli so it was easy for me to make the switch. A month later after eating the organic broccoli daily, my two sore knees were no longer sore. Praise The Lord! I started telling everyone who had sore joints about this marvelous treatment. It didn't matter what joints were involved, the broccoli would get rid of the pain. I have a friend who told me that she had two very sore ankles for about a year for which her doctor had prescribed pain medication but the pain medication didnt work. I told her about the broccoli and before she tried it she asked her doctor what he thought about eating organic broccoli to get rid of her pain. He rediculed the idea. She decided to ignore his reaction and do the broccoli. Three days later, the pain the gone. Praise The Lord! Also, her husband had two sore shoulders and he was skeptical about the broccoli getting rid of her pain. But after he saw the quick results for her he decided to do the broccoli. Within a short time his shoulers were pain-free.

Trish said she ate one small broccoli head per day. I am a bit confused what a brocolli head is? Is it a single stem (eg 2 inches across) or a bigger stem (that divides into lots of smaller stems eg 8 inches across)? Clearly it's a big difference between the two. It would be easier if someone could please tell me roughly how much would that be in grams? Thanking you in advance.

Two 1/2 years ago, i was diagnosed with two forms of arthritis, osteo-which is throughout my entire spinal column and every joint throughout my body--I also have RA. I am 43 years old. I've successfully held much of the pain at bay with diet & exercise. I am trying ACV for the first time--wish me the best! I will let you know how its going. Thank you for your feedback everyone!

I agree the only medicine I have tried that even comes close is diet and exercise. I eat a large amount of vegetables, expecially broccoli and stay as active as possible. Activity is what keeps us going.

This is a question to the 03/27/2011 input by Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France. Could she please eaborate on the use of "electrodes"??

Hi Hari, what I mean by electrodes are the electric wires with a plastic thing at the end that glues to your skin. Sorry if I used the wrong name..... You know, there are a lot of deviced like that, for example for muscle pain. I can't tell you what kinds they were, I know he used two different kinds, first one, then another one. I could give you his phone number in Lisbon, Portugal but I have no idea whether he speaks English. He goes a lot to Cuba for medical courses. If he doesn't speak English his assistant, a young man, might!

Hi Fran, if he doesn't speak English is it possible you can give him a quick call and ask what kind of electrodes they were? What exactly was he doing sending little jolts of electricity and at what frequency and can you aks him if the lay person can buy such a device and any books or website he recommends?

Hi Sasha, I don't really remember whether he speaks English or not. I was there with my husband (who only speaks English) over a year ago to thank him for what he had done to me and to tell him how well it had turned out. I don't know whether he will tell you exactly what he did.... But please try to call, if you don't manage to get the information I can try but it would be better if you did because you know what questions to ask. He is called Dr. Orlando and the phone numbers are: landline - 214785342 / 214785350 and mobile: 934782606. Please take into account the differences in the hours but you can check that online. It is a shop so they will be open during normal shopping time I would say from 9am till 12 and 3pm till maybe 6pm. If you tell him that you heard from him from Francisca, who had the knee problem and later moved to France. I think that he will remember me.....

If this approach doesn't work I can try to phone him but again I can't promise he will answer my question. And if he doesn't speak English, which he might, his assistant will because he is quite young.

I have a question about diet and osteoarthritis. The info on Internet regarding the issue is very confusing.

Some sources are suggesting no any kind of meat, no fats, no milk and etc. But others are suggesting healthy fats, proteins, fermented milk products. I understand the diet should be 100% healthy - no refined sugar, no fast foods, coke, but for the rest I really need the suggestions and personal experience.

Kay, you should really think about medicinal marijuana to help the pain. It's completly natural and healthy for you.

Kay, I have had great success in curing Fibro in 72 hours using Rife Technology. I mean the pain totally gone. I have seen this many times and it does not come back.

I have information that most of the Rife machines are not what they "use" to be so for some they may not work.

I recently sent you feedback about ginger. I have been taking it in capsule form daily now for approximately 2 months. It seems to act as a pain-killer. The relief I get is tremendous and most of the time i am completely pain-free from Arthritis and Osteoporosis of the spine. I recommended it to a friend in the US. Here are his replies in two e-mails.

Dear Suzanne: Thanks for tip. I'm going to the shopping centre where the health food store is this afternoon....and I'll get some ginger root. My ankle is in bad shape. If it were a knee or a hip....I'd have a replacement.....but they can't do that very well at this point with ankles. When we return from Viet Nam I'm looking at ankle-fusion surgery. It's not quite as bad as it sounds. One still has some movement where the leg meets the foot......and the pain stops!

Dear Suzanne: Can't thank you enough for the ginger recommendation!! I've only been taking the stuff for a few days....but the results are remarkable. I'm moving around just about pain-free. We leave tomorrow for Viet Nam and I hope to enjoy the walking.......which I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to do.

Thank you for recommending the ginger root for osteoarthritis. Would you please be more specific as to the dose?... I see you wrote 2 capsules, but how many mg are in each capsule? For example, some supplements I looked at said the capsules are 250 mg some say 500 mg. Also would you please recommend or share what brand you are using?

I have been suffering for 2 years with bursitis and osteoarthritis in my hip. I have been on all kinds of medications for this, and it feels better as long as I don't stop my meds. I have been in so much pain that I could not hardly walk. I started taking ACV for 2 days now and my legs are not even hurting. I have so much more energy than I had before. This is so much better than medications.
