I am treating my Osteoarthritis w. Diet, Exercise, Sun tanning and Hydrogen Peroxide. I made life style changes before I have found this site, but beside that this site gave me additional help how can I cure my condition. I am 51 years old female 6'6" and 126 lbs. I have an Osteoarthritis in my r. knee for three years. It turned really bad in July. The inflammation flared up in my knee and' I had crippling pain in my shoulders and tightness in the back muscles. The pain disturbed my sleep I slept only 3-4 hours at night and I couldn't walk. I remember I was tired since I have had this inflamed arthritis conditions, but I think I was fatigue lot's of times in my earlier life also. It was time to change my diet I thought. My new diet was eating lot's of raw vegetables and fruits and drinking fresh vegetable juices. That really worked, more vegetable juices less sourness! Spending time on the sun 2-3 times a week helped a lot also!!. People forgot about the Sun's healing power and it's FREE! My condition improved a lot within two months. As soon as I got better I started exercising.

I am inhaling 3% Hydrogen Peroxide 3-4 times a day for more than a month. It really helps before the exercise I can do more or if I overwork my knee the sourness and tiredness goes away in 10 minutes after the inhalation. I cannot live without it!

So what is my diet? Raw and some steamed vegetables, juices like fresh carrots, celery, broccoli .....eating baked fish ones or twice a week and maybe one slice of whole wheat bread (not preserved)ones a week and some gout milk yogurt. I am reading everything from Ted. I learned a lot about the vitamins and supplements also. I am drinking the apple cider/baking soda remedies for a couple of weeks since than I cannot kill my energies!! My husband said it's a miracle! The shoulder pain totally has gone my knee improved 50% at least. Four months ago I had trouble to stand up from the chair my leg was so week. Now I am able to walk fast or working out with weights (not heavy weights of course ). Thank you for these wonderful informations on your site. Regards,

Nettles, Honey, Cinnamon

My favorite holistic cure for severe ostoarthritis pain (an RA type) sourced from other countries... 1 cup organic Nettle tea + 2 Tbsp raw, organic, local Honey (best if you get directly from a bee keeper) + 1 tsp cinnamon powder. (Note: you can just use filtered water instead).

1. Steep the tea for 10min (up to 15min if you want to completely relax - no driving afterwards! )

2. Cool by stirring in 1/8c room temp filtered water, then stir in the honey & cinnamon.

3. Keep stirring while sipping... the cinnamon will not disolve.

*Drink 1st thing in the morning w/water, then do the tea in the p.m. (early - mid afternoon is best so the sweet honey will not activate Cortisol during the night! )

This has given me much relief - and stopped the severity w/in minutes... though, it did take several months before completely stopping the pain.

This was in part of a report compiled by Jill Knight, naturalist, PP-OTD, OTR/L, Asst. Professor at Harding University (Occupational Therapist - Preparatory Program). Also note: Weekly World News, Canada (17 January, 1995 issue) gave a list of 9 diseases that can be cured by honey + cinnamon, as researched by western scientists; used also by Doctors in Japan & India.

Boron versus other minerals for OA

I came across this paper from pubmed (2021) https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8732765/

which I found interesting. The table below shows how both insufficient and excess of some minerals can trigger OA (osteoarthritis). The only exception is Boron (no excess has this effect) and Magnesium where only a deficiency but not an excess can trigger OA.

In other words it is only Boron (of the 8 minerals looked at in relation to amelioration of OA) that has the positive effects {anti-oxidant, anti-inflammation, matrix formation, chondrocyte proliferation} and no negative effects when the dosage is 'not right'.

I have taken the boron supplements for years and no longer have any arthritis pain. (I discovered taking it in the evening didn't make me nauseous)

Since it's cheaper I started taking the borax powder more recently. I did get nauseous taking 1/8tsp, so I cut it back to 1/16tsp. I'll try 1/8tsp again after a few weeks.

Dear Iowama,

Fantastic that some people are responding to older postings when they feel they have something to offer each other-wonderful community here on Earth Clinic! I got advised of your recent posting to-day even though my relevant posting was late last year! Thanks for that interest.

My story is a bit similar to your story of your journey with arthritis. There are apparently hundreds of types of arthritis out there, so it is pretty darn likely that the majority of us will have at least one type pay us a call in our lifetimes, especially as some of us are living longer than we used to (if you get my meaning) and therefore opening ourselves up to elderly maladies.

As our Good Doctor famously opined a few years ago, “I'll get to see all of you folks come through these doors eventually”! Ha! “One thing about old age is that it doesn't last long” he said, cheerful fellow but I suppose you need a sense of humour if you are going to be a doctor in this day and age.

You may possibly be interested to check out my looong list of reported treatments for arthritis(es) here on Earth Clinic.

However, a more targeted response (gleaned from this Site and trial and error), I have found to be as follows. This is helping me but has not “cured” me. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the pain relief I think the following regime has brought me over the last several months.

Upon rising, I do the oil pulling with coconut oil and occasionally olive oil (for a bit of variety).

On an empty stomach, I mix baking soda with lime OR lemon juice in a glass of freshly boiled and cooled water. Our rainwater goes through three filters but I still boil for this job. I could use warm water from the tap but my mummy told me not to years ago, even for cleaning my teeth in a cold climate! A half hour later, and after breakfast, I take a fish oil tablet, two alfalfa tablets along with a vitamin C tablet. In addition, I take an enhanced Turmeric/Curcumin tablet and I am fairly confident that this latter one is the Magic Bullet in my case. These little darlings take from about one week to one month to kick in and while they will probably not reverse the damage sustained over a lifetime of hectic, careless living, they seem to tackle the pain factor pretty well in my case.

I confess to having a couple of cups of coffee each day and that could be a tad acidic but I enjoy them and they keep me “grounded”. I still try my best to alkalise, eat more vegetables, drink more fluids to wash out the dross, & have cut out gluetin over the past four months etc etc. I'll be a good boy one day but it's exhausting! Time was, I just poked things into my mouth without analysing!

After (or during) the evening meal, I take my ACV and this has certainly helped my (former) digestive issues considerably. Straight away, it took away the gas and it probably assists the digestion of an older person anyway. It can assist in an alkalizing programme of course. Many reasons why it could be useful to take on a regular basis. Also, regular gardening and walking work for me. Positive outlook!?

On an ad-hoc basis I will take some magnesium chloride liquid in a glass of water, will increase my water consumption even further, especially if I am doing a lot of outdoor work, take my Boron supplement, enjoy an Epsom salts foot soak and put some gelatin(e) into my tea or coffee. If parts get too sore, I resort to my Soothe Cream that I have mentioned on this site before by slipping it under our Dear Leader's Radar (no mean feat! ).

A smoothie I like goes as follows: take half a cup of orange juice, half a cup of apple juice, one cup of water, 2 cups of diced pineapple, 100gms of organic gelatin(e), one cinnamon stick and a dash of organic honey(to taste).

Add the above (except the water) to the blender until you see a homogeneous mixture. You can then add the water. If you wish to stiffen it up you can stick it into the ‘fridge. When it becomes jellified you can begin to take a spoonful regularly.

Cheers & thanks, Michael

Apple Cider Vinegar, Ginger
Posted by Chrisf (Surrey Uk) on 06/11/2016 4 posts

Update to my ongoing experiments.

I have read about the use of ginger to ease Osteoarthritis. I have also used Apple Cider Vinegar as an additive with honey to relieve sore throat, sinus symptoms etc.

I must report though that you need to be really careful with the amount of ACV you use. One of the ingredients is Potassium Metabisulphate. Too much of this can have bad effects on different parts of the body. I started to get quite serious difficulty in passing urine. My thought process went into rewind to find a reason why I suddenly found it so difficult to pass urine and using a catheter was very painful during insertion when the tip of the tube got to the point where the prostate is.

I did some research about Potassium Metabisulphate and discovered that one of the side effects over too much in the body can cause swelling of certain parts of the body.....fingers, toes, extremities, but also the prostate. What was happening is that my prostate was swelling up and pinching the urethra and stopping urine flow. I stopped using ACV and within 3 to 4 days the symptoms disappeared.

I then read about ginger and results to ease Osteoarthritis. So I followed quantity recommendations and used fresh ginger root every other day. However the symptoms experienced with too much ACV returned. I checked the suggested quantity amount, but I also checked what components make up ginger. I was surprised to see that ginger is very high in Potassium. So I stopped this too and my symptoms disappeared.

Another vegetable that does similar things is Asparagus, be careful with this one too.

The moral here is to be very careful with things that are high in Potassium. Too much of it can actually be very dangerous.

I'm very glad I've found this site (Earth Clinic) and I want to thank Ted and everybody who have posted their experiences here for others to read.

Now it's my turn to report mine. I've got good news!

Last year (2009) in July I've built a fence around my yard all by my self. It was quite a hard job for one man show with all the digging, lifting, sawing, and hammering but the job was done in a week or so. That was the beginning of my osteoarthritis pain in my hands - I'm not gonna get into detail how the pain was because the ones who have it know how horrible it is.

Of course I had to wait almost 10 months for a booked appointment with a specialist (rheumathologist) to tell me what I've suspected from the beginning, and what was that for if he didn't have any solution for it.

Here is what I've been doing so far - I've started right after some search and research - and it seems to keep the pain away:

I've stopped consuming dairy products. No milk or cheese, thanks! Got soy! :-)

I've stopped consuming meat and fish. I'll pass thanks! Eat Tofu! It tastes like chicken. :-)

The reason I've stopped consuming the above is because these days these products are no longer safe due to man's mass production GMO everything. I guess I've become a vegetarian but you know what: I guess I like it and it's helping me.

Another thing is: everything I eat now is organic. No more GMO products. And according to my books I'm not spending more money because of that.

I've been using Wild Oregano Oil (10 -12 droplets) mixed with Olive Oil (1 Tablespoon) to rub and massage my hands. Wow what a great way to get rid of the pain. It works so well and almost instantly.

I've been taking the Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda on a glass of water 3 times a day like Ted says for the last 3 months.

I didn't notice much it's effects until a couple weeks ago I added a 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to the mix and started warming up the water - I've got the idea from the water cure website and I decided to add it to the mix.

Boy, oh, boy... what a difference that made. I could feel in a few minutes it's power in action. It seems like magic. It works great for me!

I've been doing Oil Pulling too. I'm not so sure about this one but I still do it every morning - Where there's a will there's a way!

I'm not saying I'm cured. But for sure it's keeping the pain away! And maybe with the time. Who knows!

A year from now I'll be back here for an update! I hope with better news or if not these ones are still good for me.

Anyhow I hope this can help others too and if so I would be glad to see their experiences posted in this wonderful site.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I have been taking 1 TB ACV in either 8 oz juice or water 2x daily for the past month now. I have osteoarthritis in both my knees and they ACV has helped immensley with the pain and inflammation. The only problem I have noticed is that I am getting some bad stomach pains and also racing of the heart this past week or so. Has anyone else encountered this problem while taking ACV? Thank you!

I've read that heartburn or other side effects in heart due to ACV may be due to a higher concentration. Try taking a smaller amount than what you're drinking.

OSTEOARTHRITIS: I'm male 62 and have suffered osteoarthritus at lower back areas. Have just started with 4 tsp ACV + 1 tsp manuka honey dissolved in a glass of luke warm water taken twice a day. In only couple of days I experienced better morning wake up as well as had better sleep during night. I couldn't yet be clear on the dosage of baking soda. If you can give me feedback it will be good. Thanks.
Another question: Pl suggest dosage for my grandson aged 6 who has sensitive allergy to nuts and some dairy products. Also suffers off and on chest congestion. Like to keep in touch with you. Thanks for your time.

Apple Pectin
Posted by Lad (Bel Air, MD) on 10/13/2006
★★★★★

Apple Pectin cured Osteo-Arthritis and ganglion cycsts in the small knuckles. The hot-water/ACV soak recommended on Earthclinic was the most helpful topical treatment I ever tried for my painful knuckles. But when I started taking liquid citrus pectin, I noticed more lasting improvement during the day. When I later added apple pectin pills, the pain relief neared 100%. I read where pectin revives stiff, damaged synovial tissue - which is the culprit in ganglions. Doctor's only recommended Glucsoame/chondroiton./MSM, gloves, or surgery! I've tried just about EVERY arthritis supplement out there over the years, (including some fairly exotic and costly ones). But these very cheap, simple and widely available food-based home remedies did the trick for me. It's a shame they aren't more widely known.

Pau D' Arco, Boron
Posted by Mama To Many (Tennessee) on 08/08/2016

Dear Jill,

If the reason you have osteoarthritis is because of parasites and microbes, perhaps the Pau D'arco will work.

But I believe borax does other things to help arthritis, like alkalize the body and improve the calcium/magnesium balance that Pau D'arco may not be able to do.

You could try using the borax in juice. I put a little in my coffee and don't notice it. (Just a sprinkle, though, not a 1/4 teaspoon or anything.)

You could also try a different alkalizing remedy, like 1 Tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water.

Magnesium oil topically may give you some relief as well.

I want to thank you for your timely warning that ginger has a high Potassium content. I've just been diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in my wrists and my doctor put me on Prednisolone (a steroid) which makes me feel terrible. But there is a warning on the tablet container not to take Potassium while taking the meds; maybe drinking ginger tea wouldn't do much harm, but one never knows so I'll be cautious. I'm searching the net for more natural cures and land often on the earth clinic website. I'm also doing the Borax cure following Dr Newnham's recipe. it's early days yet but I'm hopeful. thank you again Chris in Surrey. :)

Hi Michael from Va Beach - Have you tried pure MSM for your osteoarthritis? Many capsules have additives so your best bet would be to use the pure flakes (available through health food stores or online). One "formula" found online to help rebuild joint cartilage uses glucosamine sulfate (750 mg x twice a day); MSM (2500 mg per day in divided doses) and, if you have severe arthritis, then add chondroitin sulfate (1200 mg per day). It takes about 6 weeks to work but should decrease your pain substantially before then. The late actor James Coburn used MSM (in very large doses) for his arthritis - it didn't cure him but it stopped the crippling pain. If you do an Internet search for MSM and arthritis, you will find some interesting material. Best of luck - take care, Bess

Vitamin C
Posted by Hisjewel (America, New York) on 04/08/2017

I have an almost funny Vitamin C and D story. If you want a quick as you go relief from Arthritis body aches and knee pain, C and D is the way to go (remember to take your magnesium). I forget the details, however I have mentioned this experience before. I was taking vitamins C and D before I ran into Mr. Shingles. At that time I had worked my way up to about 3 grams of C, and 10,000 IU of D. When I went on a 3 day fast soon after this, the first day of no vitamins I was still running up and down the stairs like a school girl. By the third day my body was full of aches and pains once again, and I remembered my age.

What I had learned from that experience is to cut down from the vitamins a little at a time so my body won't go into shock.

Since then I gave borax a second try. The first time a few years ago I only hung in 30 days and gave up. This time I hung in 4 months and can go up and down the stairs without pain ( I have heart issues too). Up and down the stairs without pain, "That's Good", however the vitamins had me Running up and down the stairs, "That's Great! " but I did not like the backfire, so for now borax it is.

A lot of my friends thanked me for this. They have been taking condroitin, glucosamine, pain killers but didn't work. I have been having osteoathritis for years on top of fibros dysplasia on the bone of my right thigh and my husband has been having backache and knee ache for so long. Thankfully, I met a very old Chinese doctor who told me to take 6 capsule (1000 mg) of Omega 3 for the first 3 months to get our system used to Omega 3. After the 3rd month, continue with just 2 or 3 (depending on how severe your aches are - I take 3 daily) for the rest of your life. It is probably not a cure but it definitely rid us of the horrible pain on our knees and back, wrist and ankles. And all my friends around my age (50 and above) tried it and they have now just depend on Omega 3 and got rid of their condroitin and glucosamine. Take them in one go. Omega 3 are harmless (they are more of EPO or fish oil) not drugs. Please do not replace Omega 3 with Fish Oil. Fish Oil does not give the same effect and may not work.

The problem is most people have consumed fructose, mostly coming from honey and fructose from fruits in the belief that it prevents or cures cancer. The truth is directly the opposite. I have found that in all my patients especially honey was consumed before they had cancer, and they continued to do so. As cancer cells produce HCG, the cancer cells try to feed themselves causing insulin resistance. This prevents healthy cells from getting fed, causing the person to be weak. The person got weak not because of cancer. There are honey recipes out there to treat cancer. This is disinformation and should be avoided at all cost, including manuka honey, organic honey, etc.

Lysine, zinc, green tea, N acetyl cysteine and vitamin C are at the top of the list of cancer remedies, as I found most cancer patients to be deficient in them. To stop cancer from growing cobalt ascorbate can be taken by mixing 1 to 5 mg together with vitamin B12 with sodium ascorbate. Sodium ascorbate is done by mixing vitamin C ascorbic acid with baking soda until the fizz is less, then you mix in vitamin B12. Both lysine and cobalt will stop the progression and metastatic cancer.

While I do not know the status or details of your mother, B complex deficiency usually needs to be addressed and vitamin C should be taken throughout the day, especially the sodium ascorbate form. Lysine and N acetyl cysteine are ideally taken every hour for 4 hours in a row twice a day. The immune system will pick up and some effects may be seen the first two days as white blood cells try to eat up the cancer. The person usually improves after 3 days. Meanwhile, blood sugar must be kept under control. Keep it below 100 mg/dL. Cancer is mostly caused from a fructose diet (honey, fruits, and high fructose corn syrup).

Death from cancer comes mostly from three things, cancer cachexia (loss of appetite), morphine (by lowering immune system) and chemo (side effects). You generally don't die from cancer, per se. If we compared, in nearly all cancers most of the decline in health is from the chemo. Some doctors are careful to watch for white blood cells not to go down, when giving chemo, but the problem is chemo causes white blood cells to go down.

Appetite may be increased generally by taking hydrochloric acid concentrate, with between 4 to 6 drops added to 250 cc of water to convert pepsinogen to pepsin so you can digest the food. Digestive enzymes help, especially pancreatic enzymes, specifically the chymotrypsin, to digest the cancer, and bromelain (pineapple enzymes). B50 (b complex) three times a day and vitamin C ascorbic acid will further the digestion too, by supporting the liver, as well as N acetyl cysteine, and selenium to detox the liver, as precursors to glutathione.

This is as simple as I can make it to get initial improvement.

Dear Sirs, I have Osteoarthritis, according to my doctor, thought it started in one hand, then wrist, then elbow, shoulder, pelvis and neck one week and moved to the same spots on my left side a week later, I am negative for the RH factor. Anyway, my skin over my knuckles used to be tight like stretched saran, and my fingers were swollen and couldn't make more than a slight "C" shape with them. I started taking juiced greens with red/black grapes with stems, celery, red apples, sometimes ginger root, carrots and red peppers, kale, spinach, cucumbers, cabbage and giving the pulp to my dog for her arthritis. She got well in about 2-3 weeks. I added turmeric with black pepper, boswella serrata pills, maca pills (a peruvian turnip) kelp pills (maca& cruciferous isothiocyanate (sulphoraphane)(active principle) interfere with iodine absorbtion in the thyroid), fish oil (3/da) vit.E(to stabilize),cat's claw pills, Chondroitin sulphate/Glucosamine sulfate pills.safflower blossom tea for IL-1(inflammatory cytokine that interfers with growth factor that maintains joint cartilage, and most recently horsetail tea (silicon) for stiffness which is since starting reduced by half and sage tea for TNF-alpha (promotes inflammation). Swelling and almost all pain and most stiffness and skin is normal, almost make a fist, still researching remaining factors to be addressed. Dog also gets boiled pigs feet for chondroitin sugars while I am seeking fresh turmeric to use because it has higher levels of volatile oils which block COX2 (inflammatory mediator)- also blocked by ginger root. I occassionaly take 1 tsp baking soda in 2 cups water. May start eating boiled beef feet broth for my chondroitins etc. I also had plantar fasciitis but it went away. I originally got the safflower tea for sore mouth from the IL-1 in my periodontal condition, then I found out it was involved in arthritis also.

Hi Kay, I emailed you, let me know if you did not get it.

After reading my old post, I realize that I left out some very important facts, and I think it is what many people have discovered on their own.

You have to cut out the junk food, mostly sugar, flour, artificial sweeteners, msg. ect..

It's the food people, it's slowly killing us, and causing us pain. Get some wholesome healing foods in us, and many diseases will be eliminated. I am also greatful that I have a spring fed well, and do not have treated water anymore.

Peace, Rena.
