My hair was turning all white quickly due to stress, so bad that if I let my roots grow out too much from a distance it looked like I was balding because the rest of my hair is (dyed) my natural color of dark brown. About 10 weeks ago, I began sprinkling nutritional yeast - the popular one easily found in the grocery store - on all my food. I'm B-12 deficient, dealing with anemia, and this brand is loaded with all the Bs, including B-12. I've let my roots grow out since this summer out of laziness (they're about 5 inches of it) and I started to notice that the normally all-white hair was looking different. Using a magnifying mirror I saw that not only do I have dark brown new hairs popping up all over, but hair the pure white hair is now looking like a 50/50 mix with dark hair from the root so that must mean repigmentation. I've had friends notice the change as well and some of the change looks like I have dark streaks through the hair and it's kind of neat. The only thing I've done differently is put tons of nutritional yeast on my food. I'm on my 2nd bottle/container of it and it's now half gone. I had no idea my natural color could come back in any way.
My dad had whole head of whites, when my dad was having issues relating to failing kidneys, I put him on high dose vitamin c and some other supplements like beef liver powder etc. What I noticed was after about couple of weeks, his hair turned dark from the crown area.
True. I tried blackstrap molasses holistically but it didn't work.
Which brand, how much do you take and how often?
My grandfather took Brewer's Yeast every morning. I do not know how much he took. And I don't remember how long he took it when I noticed dark (looked black) hairs growing amongst his pure white hair. I do not believe they had nutritional yeast back then. This was around 1964. I do not know which is better, to take Brewer's Yeast or Nutritional yeast? I have not read all the posts to see if anyone answered this question. Does anyone know?
Thank you for sharing, but you forgot to include how much your husband is taking on a daily basis.
Diatomaceous Earth! (Food Grade) My husband and I started taking it in a glass of water daily for its health benefits, and his Salt and Pepper hair is 95% black again over the course of 3 weeks. I had come across people claiming it restored their hair color, but dismissed it as silly. But low and behold, his black hair is back!
I'm sorry to say that this hasn't worked for me the way it has for the original poster. I've tried it for many months and only notice some grey hairs going back, sometimes. It hasn't helped me prevent new greys, either. :(
I had read somewhere that hydrogen peroxide is what turns hair grey in the first place! That our body's make it naturally. I always wondered if taking peroxide would work kind of like the way to fix water retention is to drink more water... Anyway I found this interesting, so thank you!
To Tdp who asked what brand I use, I like the blackstrap molasses at Trader Joe's. But any good quality blackstrap molasses will do!
How much borax did you take per day during those 2 months?
Blackstrap Molasses, Brewers Yeast
To reverse gray hair, try taking Copper Glycinate every day. For some reason "Glycinate" is the only one that works for me.
Laura, I like math, so since nobody has answered you yet, I take a stab at it. The original post says "2,000" mg Ionositol. The person who posted had 1,000 mg capsules/tablets, so I makes sense that ANY any way you get that 2,000 is fine. 2x 1,000,4x500, or so. Then after 90 days you just take 1,000 mg of Ionositol, 500 mg panthotenic acid, and 700 mg PABA.
How do you line a pot with a towel? And, how is this tea if you're putting the peels in the mason jar without adding water to the mason jar? Smh
Why bother putting the skins in the paper if you're just going to eat the skins and drink the water?
Recently, I noticed about 5 strand of hair that has a white tip but black roots. Thats after 6 months of taking BSM daily, vitamin D3 etc.
Whole potato or potato peel for restoring grey hair to black?
My black hair is turning grey. Many sources on the Web recommend boiling potatoes and pouring the juice over your hair to darken grey. None of these sources say what type of potato is best, so I assume any type will do. Some sources say boil the whole potato and pour the water from it over hair, others say to boil the potato peel and pour the water from it over hair. Which is it? I'm thinking perhaps it's best to boil the whole potato so as to get nutrients from both the potato and the skin.
Vit B-12 and graying hair. I was taking B 12 (methylated and sublingual) 5000 mcg (which is rather A LOT) and since my husband was around I gave him one too. That was few days ago. Today I commented that his hair which turned silver gray more than a decade ago looked more like dark blonde than silver but I had no idea why. Tonight I came to EC for something else and found THAT connection. It worked!
Golden Barrel is THE best molasses I have ever tasted.
You mentioned stress, maybe your adrenals need help. You could try hops, nettles, and other adaptogens. Let us know how it goes. :)
I'm 34 years old asian female with rapidly greying hair that was brought on by emotional stress. My grey hairs are all over the top and sides of my head; I'm about 10-20% grey now. It's not common for my ethnicity to grey so early and rapidly. Ive tried BSM 1 tbsp everyday and so far it's been 5 months with no improvement with my hair. The BSM I take clearly contains copper and other minerals. On top of that, I take b vitamin complex a few times a week, B12 daily, 2000IU of vitamin D (I'm deficient), and Maltofer iron syrup a few times a week (for my low ferratin).
What should I do? Should I switch to taking 2mg copper pills instead? I thought that a food supplement like BSM might be more bioavailable and hard to overdose. Should I add vitamin C to my regime?
Hi I'd like to try this clinical trial method to reverse gray hair but I'm somewhat confused. So I found the inositol online but could only find 500mg so do I take 4pills to make it 2000mg?
Also after 90 days, what do you mean take one pill each ..what is the exact dosage of each of those one pills? What mg does it go down to?..I really hope you can help me to understand. Thank you so much.
Egg, Avocado, Honey
Remedy for Gray Hair
I used 1 healthy egg, avocado, honey. Whipped it up so it is smooth and mixed good. Worked it through my hair and my hair seems darker. Maybe once or twice a week. (Gray hair).
Hi, start practicing yoga.. studies has confirmed that certain yoga asanas can cure diabetes as well as prevent it. You can search yoga for diabetes by baba ramdev in youtube..... While doing yoga, you can also consume BSM for your grey hair as the sugar in BSM will not affect ur body.
One connection I see is that your right part of the body is linked to your left hemisphere. I could theorize then and say that you are likely over using your logical mind (left hemisphere).
Check your stress levels. Are they high or low?
Can you tell me the products you used and where to get them.
Not sure what Sandy it using but Golden Barrel is what I have used for my goats and had a remarkable return of normal color to their coat with it.
Sandy, thanks for the tips - I love your oatmeal preparation method!
~Mama to Many~
I have read the book; "Crude Black Molasses" by Cyril Scott and I quote;
The most convenient way of taking Molasses is before meals. The dosage is one teaspoonful, which should be melted in half a cup of hot water, then cold water should be added, so as to make two-thirds of a cupful, the latter to be drunk warm........... (further down the page) The reason for taking the Molasses in hot water is because by being thus diluted it is more easily assimilated, and also more digestible.
I have been taking blackstrap molasses on my oatmeal every morning for about two months. I take about 2 tablespoons and pour it on top of my oatmeal. I did this because I like the taste of molasses and also because I'm anemic. I was looking at my hair this morning and noticed that I really haven't had new gray hair coming in, like I almost always do.
In addition to molasses, I take many supplements, including B vitamins and iodine. But I really didn't see this kind of result until I started the molasses.
Just in case anyone is interested, this is how I prepare the oatmeal. I put about a third cup of steel cut oats into a stoneware round dish with a stoneware top. I pour water into the oats and season with cinnamon and sometimes raisins and nuts. I place this stoneware bowl into a small, 1 quart round crockpot, make sure there's water around the edges of the stoneware insert, and turn it on at night. In the morning I have perfectly cooked oatmeal every time!
Molasses has also helped with energy levels, constipation, and better skin tone. I just feel better when I take molasses in the morning. If I skip oatmeal for any reason, I just stir the molasses into coconut or almond milk.
What exactly was the therapy? I can only guess your body started to react against the increase of H2O2 and continued after stopping your regimen. I am curious what you did.
I have a quick question about the above, do you take 2 inositol's 2000 mg or do you take 2 1000 mg which total the 2000? I can only find the inositol's in 1000 mg pills.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
I believe all disease symptoms and degenerative aging systems start with a mineral deficiency, so minerals are always first to be added to any cure. I've seen people lose their gray hair in a year and go back to original hair color in most cases.
Apple Cider Vinegar in Apple Juice
My Grandfather taught me to drink apple cider vinegar and honey in water or apple juice daily when I was a young lad. I am now 77 years old and only no grey hair to speak of.
Apple Cider Vinegar in Apple Juice
I'm guessing the 96 year old cousin took 1-2 teaspoons of ACV in apple juice. Honey doesn't seem necessary since apple juice is naturally sweet.
How long after you started taking the B vitamins till you noticed you gray disappearing?
That's fantastic! Thanks for sharing your protocol. How long did it take to begin seeing results (i.e. new hair growth returning to your pre-gray color)?
B- Vitamins (Inositol, PABA & Pantothenic Acid) get rid of GREY HAIR
Sorry folks, I found a cure for Grey Hair through a clinical trial article & didn't take the time to share. It's been about a year now and I have been rid of greys and don't have to dye my hair unless I want to. It's comprised of a series of B vitamins.
For 90 days you will take:
- 2 inositol's 2000 mg
- 1 Paba 700mg
- 1 Pantothenic Acid 500mg
After 90 days, you will drop to 1 inositol, 1 paba and 1 pantothenic acid pill a day.
You will have to continue this regimen for life. I have read that once you discontinue the B vitamins for 30 days your hair will revert back. I hope this helps you as it has immeasurably helped me.
The post I'm replying to is two years old, but in case someone else wants to know the answer: You will know you are buying the correct molasses -- the one referred to on Earth Clinic -- if the *front label* on the molasses jar has the words "unsulfured" and "Blackstrap Molasses."
Most people use regular molasses, not blackstrap, for cooking because the regular kind is lighter tasting and sweeter. That kind also usually states on the label that it's unsuphured, but it is not blackstrap. If a recipe calls for molasses, do not use blackstrap molasses. Regular molasses makes great gingerbread, and spice cakes.
Just remember, if you're trying molasses for health reasons, only buy *unsulfered* *blackstrap* molasses. The front label on the jar will clearly state this. Many people say the organic kind of blackstrap molasses has more nutrients. Personally, I don't know about that, but maybe so. In my town only one store sells blackstrap molasses. It's unsuphured, but not organic. The iron content per serving listed on the label only reads 2%. You can order organic unsuphured blackstrap molasses online.
Greetings. I have been following the hydrogen peroxide therapy. First week sick as a dog. Second week back to normal. Using probiotics and water keifer. 4 weeks after using this I feel a lot better but the weird thing I noticed and my wife noticed, my grey in my beard was disappearing. The new growth came in coloured and now I am back to a nice darky shines red over the grey that I had.
Can anyone explain what on earth happened and why????
You should take magnesium, vitamin c, selenium (raw Brazil nuts have the highest concentration 5-7 a day), b complex, and zinc, a couple of weeks before beginning the iodine therapy. It helps in case you have toxins in your system, as you will detox and this helps bond these toxins to remove them with the least amount of side effects. Also, zinc and magnesium work in harmony with iodine. I have been on Lugol's 2 percent for almost 6 weeks. I also use salt loading when I get a head ache or any other(new) symptoms. I am not on it for hair loss, but I have a lot of new growth, anyway!
I heard that too much kelp or too much iodine will cause hair loss!!
I would look for a brand that does contain copper. I think that is important. BSM with molasses even worked to restore the fur color on my dairy goats! But our BSM did have copper in it.
~Mama to Many~
I have bought organic unsulphured blackstrap molasses but that say 0% copper on label of the bottle.. will that works in reversing grey hairs or should I try for something else.. please suggest.. Thanks in advance
In one review I read from someone who had their gray hair reversed, they said they took it every day and didn't start noticing results until 6 months later. Hang in there! I'm taking it too.
Hello Kate, Please let me know which brand of Black strap molasses are you using, becoz none of the brand contain copper.
I tried the plantation brand, Unsulphured Molasses for nearly a year. No results. I read the results of a clinical trial in which those of all ages found re-pigmentation of hair upon taking: 1000mg of Inositol, Paba 700mg, & Pantothenic Acid 500 mg. Take those once a day for 2 months and you will begin to see results. Greys will fall out and you will see the natural pigmentation of your hair back again. You will have to stay on these vitamins to keep the results ongoing. You can say so long to hair dye!!
I used henna for years, and the indigo mix. All of a sudden I became allergic to the indigo. My hair fell out..... I am allergic to EVERYTHING, especially sulfur/sulfate products.
Hi Sara, I would like to know which brand and dosage of Alpha Lipoic Acid you´re using. Have you ever heard of ALA combined with Fo ti (he shou wu) as supplements against greys? I was going to try Vitacost products for these two, do you have any suggestions?
Apple Cider Vinegar in Apple Juice
Does anyone know how much ACV do you add to drink with apple juice and honey for help with grey hair?
Copper is the magic cure for grey hair but need to be careful as too much is not good.
Avoid Corn Syrup
Let's not judge other people please.
How to Identify the RIGHT Blackstrap Molasses
I don't think EarthClinic will let me post the brand name, but you need a brand of BlackStrap Molasses. (It is also "unsulphured" but I don't know if that makes a difference.)
However, the nutrient list on the back of the bottle should read as follows: 20% Iron, 17% Potassium, and 20% Calcium. Depending on the brand, these percentages might vary a little, but not much. That's the best way to tell if you're purchasing the right type. On ocassion, I've seen them at a grocery store, but I usually have to order online.
Get your thyroid working really good. It will improve hair and temperature of the extremes. Check Dr. Brownstein's work and the iodine protocol. Don't do it different than the protocol. You'll get more energy too, that's great :)
Elodie, can you tell us how much you take of each? Is it in tablet or powder form? Which brand or if you can't say which one, then some kind of hint as to which one or where to buy it? Also, how long until you saw results? Thanks!
