Oil of Oregano is now my "go-to" cure when I start to have a Diverticulitis attack. Recently I had another severe flare-up. Called my doctor and he called in Cipro and Flagyl, but I held off taking them while I tried to cure the attack with Oil of Oregano. It worked. I did not have to take the antibiotics. I took it several times a day for a few weeks, and I am now pain-free.
Siberian pine nut oil soothed a family member's stomach and intestines that were painfully inflamed.
I have been using Aloe AMP by Serovera it's helped quite a bit. I have had gut pain about every 5 to 6 days now for months. My last test showed I had diverticulitis. I also used grapefruit seed extract drops about 7drops into George's Aloe liquid. It all helps the symptoms but I was still having pain. I cut out nuts and high fiber foods for now because it would seem to bring on pain. I know the Aloe AMP can take a few months to heal my diverticulitis so I will continue with that, it's expensive but I found the brand mentioned for under $90. on Amazon. There's a book called Bible Salt by Saifon Ching that Really is making a Big difference, I didn't buy the book but she explained that pink Himalayan salt can heal the gut if you add water to a a few chunks of the salt in a jar, filled with water. I used a mason jar 8 to 10 oz. of filtered water do not use a metal lid top. I take a sip 3xs a day followed by a gulp of water. WOW what a difference it has made it's about two and a half weeks now and the pain is very slight almost gone and happening less frequently. You can find her video on u_tube, she explains how to and how much. I just had to tell you all the good finds I made guided by prayers for help from the Lord. I believe our body can heal itself given the correct natural remedies.
I recommend psyllium husk I take 5 teaspoons a day with plenty of water for preventing Diviticulitus, it works. Just get the powder from the supermarket.

Salt Water Cleanse for Diverticulitis: Dissolve 2 tsp non-iodized, natural salt (such as Himalayan pink salt or sea salt) in 1 liter warm water. Drink in the morning on an empty stomach. When you first feel the urge to go, just resist the urge and let the solution "brew" in your intestines for about 30 minutes (or more if you can stand it). When you feel you can't stand it any longer, visit the toilet. This will likely result in one semi-solid defecation and 3 or more liquid ones. Avoid eating anything until you can go one hour without evacuating your bowels (which takes about 5 hours for me), then have light meals for the rest of the day. Repeat in 2 days, increasing the salt to up to 3 tsp, if you are not feeling any better. Once you are feeling better, it is important to eat a high-fiber diet and drink plenty of water to prevent flare-ups.
I first decided to try this remedy after having a flare-up due to taking calcium/magnesium/zinc tablets (calcium can cause constipation). After suffering for a few days with pretty severe pain, I figured I would try this remedy. I believe this remedy works by dissolving the contents of diverticula while reducing swelling and inhibiting bacterial growth. The next morning, I woke up pain-free!
Note that using iodized salt in this remedy probably will work but is dangerous because it may result in iodine poisoning. For best results, use filtered water or boiled tap water. I would advise doing this on a day when you are going to be home all day because you'll feel the urge to run to the bathroom throughout the day. Avoid passing gas when not on the toilet because it will probably not just be gas!
I have had good luck with taking sea salt in hot water at the first sign of diverticulitis. If it doesn't help the first time I take it again. I started with it one night and took the sea salt and had to take it a second time and woke up in the morning with no pain. I usually take about 1/2 t of sea salt to a cup of water.
I had my first bout of diverticulitis 6 months ago, went to er thinking it was appendicitis, had a colonoscopy to confirm, mine is on the right side.
one thing about this dreadful condition is there seems to be no consensus on cause or treatments, I just read a medical paper from 1975 which claims it is from holding in poop and gas for too long. Which makes sense to me because I have bad hemorrhoids and have been clenching my butt cheeks together trying to hold it in. I've just had my 2nd attack, and was constipated with terrible bloating, I've tried every remedy on here and nothing worked, I also keep a food journal and it's not diet related (for me).
Well last night around midnight I'd had enough and drank a warm glass of water with pink sea salt (1 tablespoon). 30 minutes later I had a bowel movement and the solids were as hard as rocks, but the bloating was still there and very painful, so this morning I tried a spoonful of organic baking soda in water and my gas and bloating finally exited and I feel 100% better. Good luck everyone
I have had occasional bouts of diverticulitis and have found slippery elm to be very soothing and beneficial. I generally make about 250 ml of warm water in a glass, place in a teaspoon of honey and stir. Add 2 heaped teaspoons of slippery elm powder and stir to a smooth consistency. It's quite pleasant to drink. I take this first thing in the morning and just before I go to bed.
I have also found grapefruit seed extract to be very helpful and works quickly.
I have always recommended Swedish-Bitters to people suffering from diverticulitis. Every one of them was cured of this illness within 5 days of taking this elixir 3x/daily.
Swedish Bitter is a panacea remedy from herbs created during the 16th century by famous scientist and alchemist Paracelsus, who wanted to create a mighty elixir from plants for longevity.
There are two preparations of Swedish bitters: A small version containing 11 herbs and a large version containing 22 herbs. Maria Treben (the famous herbalist from Germany and author of the book Health through God's Pharmacy) favored the small version as she could find no difference in efficacy between the two. However, I favor the 22 herb formula and had great success using it.
Note by Rob: There is a reason why Paracelsus and Samst used 22 herbs. It may not be apparently clear as to why but there was a reason.
When taken internally, Swedish Bitters does a remarkable job of healing and cleansing the digestive system. It assures maximum assimilation of all the nourishing things you eat and helps cope with the elimination of the less desirable elements you ingest. Bitters help to soothe the nervous system, your blood, muscles and organs. When you feel better, you think smarter and are ready to engage in constructive activities.
To maintain optimum health, take a teaspoon of Swedish Bitters in tea, juice or water 3-4 times a day.
I digested Psyllium and Bentonite clay for a colon cleanse. This was to ruin my whole life and caused immediate gastritis and triggered rosacea/rhinophyma. The onset of syptoms were abrum, immediate and extremely severe. I now have blepharitis and meibominaitis as a result. I was very stupid and digesting this product has ruined my whole life. DO NOT TAKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
