I had a severe case of diverticulitis and was hospitalized for several days. The surgeon told me I needed colon surgery. Once released from the hospital, I started drinking 3 glasses per day of aloe vera juice (I bought the gallon jugs from Trader Joes as they are the least expensive) and began taking Turmeric extract (800 mg. Capsules) -- I took 3 capsules morning, noon and night, washed down with aloe vera juice. I also increased my fiber intake (there is a psyllium husk and oat cereal that is loaded with fiber, but you could also just mix a tablespoon of psyllium husks in a Tall glass of water, stir and drink quickly). Long story short, I healed my diverticulitis, the fistula that appeared on CT scan disappeared and the surgeon informed me I no longer needed colon surgery. That was 2 and 1/2 years ago and I have never had another problem with my colon. I still drink aloe vera a few times a week and continue taking 3 capsules of Turmeric daily (the 800 mg ones) and eat the high fiber cereal a few times per week.
I told a friend of mine who had been suffering from ulcerative colitis for 6 months without relief despite a multitude of prescription meds and he tried the combination I described above (he said he also added Boswellian for inflammation) and within 4 weeks he was given a completely clean bill of health from his doctor.
Hope this helps anyone suffering from colon problems!!! I told my doctor and my surgeon and both were very impressed with the natural healing method and just wanted to know how I had thought of that combination. It did not surprise either that it actually worked!

Diverticulitis: First I want to say, Thank you, the aloe vera juice and papaya enzyme works for me. I also found out that fresh organic carrot juice 1/3 cup twice a day also works for me.
l have had diverticulitis for 4 years now, with one ER visit with a 2 centimeter perforation-icu for 10 days on a massive antibiotic cocktail. When l left, gastro doc said "see you in 5 or 10 years." Within 6 weeks, l was back to more pain and suffering, so l visited earth clinic for help. l loved that aloe vera was part of the solution, but l used the aloe growing in my garden. l cut off a large leaf, cut off half of it (about 3 inches long) and refrigerated the rest in a bag, then l blended it with some pineapple juice (real juice), no gse or anything else cause I was too sick to shop.
I took a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (acv) in some water, then drank the blended aloe. It only took a couple days to get right again. The acv in case you didn't know, neutralizes any bacteria or germs growing in the gut. The aloe heals. l am going to try the salt cure, as l am looking for a cure for the diverticula, and tired of the diets needed to prevent the inflammation.
I want to thank everyone for their remedies on this site! I had diverticulus for years. I couldn't take the Flagyl and was on the Cipro constantly. I began the Aloe Vera juice, Grapefruit Seed extract, and Papya Tabs after eating. I have not been on Cirpo since May and it's now September! If I get a twinge (which, if I eat something I shouldn't, I do:), I up the Aloe and the extract, and I'm good to go. I wish I found this site years ago and I hope you all reading this have the same success that I have so far!
I just want to thank everyone's post I read about aloe vera juice/grape seed extract/papaya juice combo. My man has suffered from diverticulitis for over a year and a half. After a final 3rd visit with no relief and a MD's confirmation to our suspicion we decided to take this into our own hands. With no insurance and no Dr willing to take on his case, in fact we were told that the Dr decides who he wants to see. So in a rage of desperation, I visited our local health food store and bought all the suggested ingredients. A day and a half later.... HOLY MOLY! He is back to normal. We even got to go out to breakfast and he actually enjoyed his food with no pain! So again thank you for all your input and we are most definately goin natural on the remedies from now on. -So grateful!
Aloe, Papaya, Grape Seed Extract, Probiotics
After visiting this site after getting a flare up of diverticulitis symptoms 2 years after being hospitalized, I started a regime gleaned from the comments here. I used a combination of aloe Vera juice, papaya enzymes, grape seed extract, and probiotic complex. I'm sold, within 24 hrs all symptoms were markedly reduced. I am tempted to say completely, will keep this up , and definitely make the aloe Vera juice aan ongoing part of my diet.
Well, I've had diverticulitis on and off for many years. It started acting up 2 weeks ago after a trip overnight and eating different foods. My friend came over today and told me to take Apple Cider Vineger. Which I did. At first felt the sharp pain in my lower GI worsening, so I started on my way to the ER. By the time I got there the symptoms were getting better. So I turned around and I'm now feeling about 40% better.
Hot bath, warm water drink and apple cider vineger....could be a cure.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a life saver. I took it on my last bout of diverticulitis. It helped. It has digestive enzymes in it. Organic acv is about the only one you should consume to get the best benefits.
Apple Cider Vinegar
I hope yu have a few minutes to read thru this. I've tried to keep it brief, but that's just not possible when praising ACV! There are NUMEROUS instances where ACV came to the rescue!!
1) I discovered ACV when my stomach ulcer was SO bad, every breath hurt, smoking just burned my stomach and, after eating, pain was constant. I was drinking liquid antacid straight from the bottle every few minutes.
A vegan friend told me that stuff was WORSE for me than the ulcer. He fixed an 8 oz glass of water with equal parts of ACV and honey (2 Tbs each; more honey if needed). By the time I took the THIRD swallow, I could feel the pain and pressure lessening like bubbles bursting inside. I started making it by the gallon (1/2 Cup ACV, 1/2 Cup honey and fill jug with water). Keep it in the fridge and shake before serving. I drank a glassful 30 minutes after EACH meal. In LESS than a month, I was symptom free and have had no problem since. I still smoke, I eat any/everything I want and no problems. I've fixed it for many, many people with acid reflux, chronic indigestion and diverticulitis. Every one of them was able to get off prescription meds within 3-4 weeks. (There's an additional regimen for curing diverticulitis. I'll send it in another time).
I started reading about ACV and found it balances Ph: if you're too acidic, it makes yu more alkaline and vice-versa....

I have had diverticulitis for years. It flares up a couple times a year BAD. I go to Dr. I get cipro and flagyl. Last few times did not help. So I read about the apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper drink here.
2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in 10 oz of water. (Stanley from Huntingdon, Pa)
It worked in an hour. I would have paid $100 the night before to sleep and not hurt. I just couldn't. Pepto, Advil nothing helped. Then I read this. It worked. I'm still sore from 5 days of hurting but this mix is real deal. I mean it was that noticeable that quick. It's awful tasting. But worth the $10 I spent on acv and pepper

Apple Cider Vinegar, Cayenne Pepper
Several years ago I had diverticulitis to the extent that I just wanted to die. Somewhere I read about Apple Cider Vinegar and cayenne pepper.
This is the formula I used - 2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in 10 oz of water. In two hours I was feeling better. Using this formula for 3 days totally eliminated this problem. I have been using the Apple Cider Vinegar and cp for at least 10 years and it has fixed many other problems. Wishing you well.

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis in 2012 and I had it 3x in first 3-4 years. It was awful experience...then I started my research ...got across GSE and ACV taking that religiously every day for 3 yrs now 1tbs of ACV and 5 drops of GSE every single day ...and no diverticulitis so far...I couldn't find anywhere for how long you can take GSE...I keep taking it and I feel wonderful...good luck dear...BTW I'm from MN to...;)
I used castor oil on my stomach where I was diverticulitis pain, and the pain is about completely gone! I just put it on a small rag over the spot where I was hurting and then covered that with a washcloth. Then I pulled my underwear up over that and left it on most of the day. I wasn't moving around much so it stayed in place. If anyone has suffered diverticulitis pain, or any pain like kidney stones etc. This stuff is amazing!
I have found a "big gun" for my diverticulitis. When the grapefruit seed extract and slippery elm isn't enough, and I start feeling the aching stomach signal that an attack is imminent, I have had perfect success with Colloidal Silver. Take two teaspoons and relief is within minutes. Thank God for relief from pain, because I'm a wuss and want to crawl in a hole when I'm in pain. The directions warn not to take this for more than 10 days. Hope this will help others who have suffered as I have.
I'm back again, but this time I have it! I have a cure for diverticultus pain! At least it has been for me. I've probably had it all my life (that I can remember). I'm 60 now, female, have been vegetarian and "health conscious" for 40 years, but always had digestive issues. After searching this site and trying a few things, I finally ran across DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice). It was prescribed for my husband for "leaky gut". While in the throws of my increasingly common "pain in my left side" I thought, "Why don't I try it"? Wish I'd tried it a long time ago! Practically instantly (at least within a day or two) my symptoms had vanished! Completely gone, and they've stayed gone for several months now (they were almost constant! ). All that from just chewing 2 of these yummy tasting licorice chews before each meal! How hard is that? Please try these out if you're having problems with diverticulitus. I think it's a definite winner... And I hope others will write in with the same experience I've had!
