I bought Can-C drops, and have been using them for a year now with no improvement. I guess I am just in that percentage of people it doesn't work on. Maybe my cataract was just too advanced. You are supposed to see improvement in four to six months.

Denise, The only person that I've found that has a healing method for cataracts is Dr. Sam Berne. His website is https://www.drsamberne.com/complete-cataract-guide/ He incorporated a 15% msm drops, eye exercises and supplements. Eye exercise are free. My friend tried the CAN-C drops that work for some people, didn't work for him and he is currently using Dr Sam's 4% MSM solution.

Nobody is talking about cataracts? I would love to hear from anyone that has had good results from natural methods. My sister is facing cataract surgery. She is undecided on having it, and open to natural methods. Please let me know if there is anyone here on EC that knows about successful alternatives. I see the remedy lists, but I don't see anyone stepping up with actual good results;) Thank you much, Denise

I too have cataracts, had lens replacement surgery on left eye and not real happy with the outcome. I can see the periphery of the lens which makes everything look like a piece of "Picasso", artwork. I had pain in my right eye. It was suggested that it was caused by elevated pressure (glaucoma). I found that putting two, (2) drops of caster oil in the eye at bedtime completely eliminated the eye pain and is very slowly showing slight improvement in clarity. I now use the oil in both eyes at bedtime. It does seem to make my nose a bit runny. The oil also stopped itching due to dry eyes. I wish I'd known this sooner. I now search for natural solutions for everything before considering the often toxic and damaging pharma crap. Good wishes for you in all things!

Hey Manju, my personal experience after my surgery was the same as yours. I went back to the doctor twice thinking something for sure was in it. My doctor said it was dry eyes. Dry eyes tear a lot and they feel like something is in the eye. It was hard for me to believe but I accepted his opinion. I learned that good quality salmon oil capsules taken by mouth will help dry eyes and it did, ending my symptoms. Kim

Hello Om

I tried castor oil for few days and some home made solution with white onion juice lemon juice etc. but my cataract has become worse. Now also with great difficulty I am able to type this message. I had several visits to dentist few years ago. recently one of my tooth in lower jaw became loose and dentist told me to remove it. I searchd and search on net how to save my teeth. Last year I went to India and saw a simple dentist and asked him if he can fix my teeth. He pressed my teeth hard, push it down (which was projecting very much up) and put some solution to bind it. When I returned to USA and started driving again, I realised that I am not able to see clearly. Is there no option than to go for surgery? Please help me

It should be Hexane Free 100% Pure Castor Oil - You should input "Uses For Castor Oil" in the Youtube.com browser. You will be surprised at the 1000's of people who have uploaded videos about their own successful experiences using it. You can input the use of all the other remedies mentioned above and you will find many videos on those as well. DMSO
Posted by Dave (London) on 03/15/2018

WARNING!

Please DO NOT put neat DMSO in your eye, you MUST always dilute DMSO when using internally, say to 70% with distilled or deionised water. The stuff from Dr Jacobs smells a little like petrol and leaves a taste like that in your mouth that you need to rinse away with a few small glasses or orange juice or any other fruit juice. It should ALWAYS be a little diluted, say to 70% before drinking for instance, I have drunk three double vodka glasses neat at once on several occasions and am still here, but when neat like that it has a slightly irritating and de-oiling effect on tissue, and when used neat externally, it makes skin on the arm raw looking and feeling and uncomfortable, maybe a little cream or oil with it when used on skin externally would be good.

So thinking about this, you don't want the tissue in your eye, which, like the brain, is largely oil, disrupted, this stuff is a powerful chemical, and might cause tissues in your eye to lose integrity when oil is stripped, so dilute at maximum to 70% and you will still notice a slight exothermic reaction, not enough to burn, just a slight warmth like you drank some lukewarm tea.

I didn't have any colloidal silver so I just used saline solution like for contact lenses. It really is soothing to the eyes. I used 1/4 tsp. Alc to an ounce of saline.

I searched online for hexane free, organic, cold pressed castor oil. I found a brand of 100% pure certified castor oil, it's hexane free, all this is stated on the bottle. I ordered it from online 16 fluid ounces cost approximately $14.00 US dollars, which is not very expensive, considering you only use a few drops at a time, for eyes, at least. The bottle also says it is for external use only, which means you do not consume this, it is for topical use on the skin, or in the eyes. I hope you find what you need.

DMSO - 6.25 percent (Get the Blue glass bottle on Amazon $19.95)
Vitamin C - 1.25 percent
Glutathione - 1.25 percent

Famed herbalist Dr. John Christopher also reported treating cataracts successfully with his herbal eyebright eye drops formula. Some suggest that a combination of the DMSO formula and eyebright might be the best eye drop treatment option of all.

I was diagnosed with the beginning stages of a cataract. Of course, the only solution offered at my doctor's office was to, "wait until I needed surgery." Not an option!

The Internet is full of advice, but can be overwhelming. So here's what I've found, so far, and I'll try to keep it brief:

1. Invest in a good quality multi-vitamin. I use a tab without Iron. It will give you base for adding other vitamins and supplements.

2. Purchase a good quality supplement that contains bilberry, gingko, lutein, and eyebright.

3. Glutathione is important in maintaining good eye health...especially as we age. BUT, I just learned today, that it isn't as well absorbed in pill form. Going forward, I will use the spray (sub-lingual).

4. Hyaluronic Acid is important.

5. Extra B5 and Vitamin C is important.

6. Check with your Naturopath as to upper limits and interactions/side effects before you start any supplement regimen.

7. Add rich colored organic fruits, vegetables and juices to your daily diet. I drink a lot of beet and carrot juice and citrus. Have spinach/kale with garlic at least once a week. I also double filter my drinking water. I suppose steam distilled water is best, but I will not buy it at the store in plastic containers. Need to investigate a DIY system.

8. There are a lot of eye exercises that will strengthen your vision. I found a site recently and spoke with one of the business owners. They are one of very few naturopathic optometrists in the U.S. (trust me, I've been looking for weeks): I've already tried the eye exercises and am getting great results.

9. I do a lot of computer work and recently discovered that there is a direct correlation between tightened neck/shoulder muscles and the eyes. Also, with dental work and the eyes. Ask your dentist to limit x-rays, or cover your eyes with another lead blanket. Limit the time that you lie flat in the chair or, during a lengthy procedure, ask if you can sit up or walk around. I developed eye flashes and, later, dark floaters, after a 2 hour procedure at my endodontist's office.

10. Use UV sunglasses. Also, take your glasses off when you can to let your eyes do some of the work and get exercise. Do relaxation and eye exercises before bedtime along with warm and cold compresses and de-stress!

I've used castor oil as an eye drop for nearly 1 year. I have seen no difference in my vision or the density of my cataract. It does not sting and hasn't caused any harm. I don't find the drops particularly soothing either. You may get different results. If you choose to try it, use only organic, cold-pressed, hexane free castor oil. I bought mine on Amazon and fill a small blue glass dropper bottle. Use one drop in each eye before bedtime.

DMSO, Glutathione, Vitamin C

You can make your own eye drops. First, your doctor will pooh-pooh the idea (as mine did) and a compounding pharmacy will charge you about $100. Buy the very pure DMSO in the blue glass bottle for $19.95 on Amazon and pharmaceutical grade Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) that you can also get from Amazon. You can also get Bulk Supplements' glutathione from Amazon.

Warning: Do not use this formula if you've had cataract surgery--even in just one eye. The DMSO ( a solvent) will blur the plastic lens in the eye. I know because it happened to me.

Glutathione is poorly absorbed when taken orally. I make a my own (absorbable) liposomal combo containing equal amounts of vitamin C and glutathione. This helps macular degeneration.

Unfortunately, I haven't noticed any improvement in my cataract using coconut water drops.

P.S. DMSO has a hundred uses so do a little research. It will be money well spent.

I've been "seeing" very positive results in only 3 weeks using drop that contain active Ingredients: Glycerin 1.0% Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose 0.03%Inactive Ingredients: Boric acid, citric acid, N-acetyl-carnosine, potassium bicarbonate, purified benzyl alcohol, and sterile water. 1 drop in each eye every evening.

and 20mg Lutein once daily. Previously I was experiencing cloudy vision and "tired" eyes and was told upon eye examination that I had cataracts. Eyes are no longer tired and I'm reading the bottom line on TV news banners easily from a distance where I couldn't before.

Castor Oil
Posted by Suzanne (Norman, Ok) on 03/10/2017

Warning! I got USP organic castor oil to use for cataracts. I put one drop in each eye. A few minutes later my eyes hurt, I was nauseated and had trouble breathing, and felt weak. I immediately used eye wash to thoroughly wash out each eye. I felt somewhat better but continued to have problems throughout the next day. I looked up the symptoms of a bad reaction to castor oil and it was as I described.

Castor oil stays in your system anywhere from 4 to 18 hours. My advice is don't try this for the first time when you're alone - you may need to someone to call for help. Try a smaller amount to start and have something available to wash out your eye if you need it. The literature I read said the bad side effects can accumulate if you continue to use the castor oil. You won't know if you'll have bad side effects unless you try the castor oil.

Thankfully I recovered but it took at least 18 hrs for all effects to dissipate. This won't happen to everyone but please be aware.

I read in a book about coconuts and how healthy they are for you that if you want to get rid of cataracts, just get a fresh coconut, and strain the water though a coffee filter, and put a few drops in your eyes and BOOM the cataracts are gone. Food for thought: I talked to a fellow who worked at a local health-food store, and told him my woeful tale about using Castor oil for my cataract. He shook his head, and said he had several customers tell him that FLAXSEED OIL was the ticket, not the Castor oil. I researched it on the Internet, but could only find a very few sparse references to using flaxseed oil for cataracts--and most of that was on dogs.

This looks like a case of nutrient deficiency. Low antioxidant status plus other nutrients necessary for eye health prevent many or most chronic eye diseases.

For many yrs there was an natural formula called "Occuguard" which contains many good nutrients for eyes, but I don't know if it's still marketed in this name; or go to local or online health food store for similar formula.

The ingredients list should contain as many of the fallowing nutrients as possible:

  1. Taurine
  2. Billberry herb
  3. Lutein
  4. Zeaxanthin
  5. Vit-A (Cod Liver Oil)
  6. Eyebright herb
  7. Zinc

These nutrients should restore your vision shortly and should not negative interact with the Oclumed product you are taking, however it would be safe to read the "interactions & warnings" labels on the product. If you could disclose what exactly this product contains that would help, but it appears a non-natural product and for short term use.
