Natural Cures for Heart Disease

Dec 10, 2016

With tens of millions of heart disease sufferers worldwide, our focus should not just be on managing this disease but rather curing it. With the help of a variety of different natural supplements as well as lifestyle changes, you can do just that. If you are at risk for or have been diagnosed with heart disease, consider taking daily supplements such as ginseng, coQ10, cayenne, vitamin E, and hawthorn to effectively treat and eliminate this all too common condition.

What Is Heart Disease?

Mayo Clinic describes the term “heart disease” as one that is used to classify a range of diseases or conditions that affect your heart. Common conditions that fall within this blanket term include diseases of your blood vessels, heart infection, heart rhythm problems, and congenital defects. The term is frequently interchanged with “cardiovascular disease;” however, cardiovascular disease typically refers to conditions that cause the narrowing or blocking of your blood vessels and can lead to a heart attack.

Knowing the symptoms of heart disease can help you identify the condition sooner, which is crucial for preventing more progressive side effects. Chest pain or angina, shortness of breath, and pain and numbness in your legs or arms are all common. Additionally, you may experience a fluttering feeling in your heart, racing heartbeat, lightheadedness, dizziness, and fainting. Some conditions also cause pale or blue skin color and swelling in your legs, abdomen, or around your eyes.

Are There Any Natural Cures for Heart Disease?

While it is important to have medical supervision if you have or are at risk for cardiovascular disease, there are many natural remedies that support more conventional medical treatment. In addition to taking daily supplements, like ginseng, coQ10, and vitamin E, Dr. Sergey A Dzugan also reports that it is crucial to maintain an active lifestyle, avoid high-sodium foods, eat a balanced diet, and manage stress.

1. Ginseng

The Health Wyze Report lists a number of important supplements for treating heart disease, one of which is ginseng. According to research, American ginseng is the best form for heart patients, as it is a milder stimulant than others, such as the Korean variety. This herb is effective for improving heart health, reducing inflammation, managing your cholesterol, and normalizing your blood pressure. For the best results, begin taking 200mg by mouth two to three times a day.

2. CoQ10

CoQ10 is another important nutritional supplement for treating heart conditions. This nutrient is often used as a supplement when individuals are “weaning off of” hypertension medication. It is also considered an all-around heart tonic and is effective for reducing blood pressure and improving circulation. To begin treatment, take 200mg by mouth three times a day. Be sure to look for soft gel capsules as they are easier for your body to absorb.

3. Vitamin E

Vitamin E is another daily supplement that is effective for treating heart conditions among other things. This vitamin helps thin your blood, which improves blood flow and can treat hypertension. Additionally, it helps to normalize blood pressure, so your heart does not have to work as hard and can perform more optimally.

In addition to these nutrients, you should also try cayenne and hawthorn as these supplements help promote better heart health. Keep reading for even more ways to naturally cure heart disease with suggestions from our readers!

ACV, Garlic, Ginger, Lemon recipe

Severe heart pain that would not go away the whole day. Drank a third of a glass of this juice right away and 3 tablespoons thrice a day after that( the juice was lying around for a year that a thoughtful brother had ordered for me mainly because he knew I had no insurance and had high blood pressure! ) and the pain gradually disappeared in three-four days. Would like to mention that I felt a warm burning but not uncomfortable feeling in the region of the heart while taking this wonderful concoction and pressure dropped from 170/90 to 130/85.

This works!

After a crisis, a tablespoon or two as a preventive would be prudent along with healthy portion controlled eating, 20 minutes of brisk walking(walking ups your master molecule -glutathione! ) and regular visits to a good holistic cardiologist.

I have just learned about the garlic, lemon, ginger cure. I have been taking nattokinase and serrapeptase for close to a year now to help clean the arteries. I have noticed a difference in my circulation. My feet don't swell like they use to. I don't get chest cramps very often. And I can catch my breath without feeling concerned. I would never get out of breath, just a feeling of not being able to expand my diaphragm at will sometimes. However, I still have anxiety issues and ringing ears. I also feel tightness in my head as if I have a tight ponytail with no headache. I am terrified of the medical system and try to use natural remedies to self heal. I am 53 and grew up on hamburgers and Doritos. I feel like I need a more aggressive treatment. I don't know if I should stop taking the enzymes if I start the garlic cure. I also don't know if I should do this cure or instead do the Tibetan garlic cure. Any thoughts on this?

Replied by Timh

B: As for the enzymes, it is important to take them without any acidosis issues in the gut or body and on an empty stomach preferably 30-60 min prior to meal. A 6 month course should clear out any scar tissue in the arteries.

As for the herbs, Hawthorn berries and Cayenne should be added to your list as they are very important for heart, lungs, and arteries.

You may also consider a vascular cleanse with the herbs White Oak bark, Horse Chestnut, Butcher's Broom.

Thanks for your response. I have been taking the enzymes on an empty stomach. as I said I have been taking them for close to a year. Should I discontinue taking them? And I have been reading up on the lemon, garlic cure. Is there any reason why I should not try this?

Replied by Timh

As for the enzymes, a minimum dose could be taken daily for the entire lifespan, but for disease states one would need to take "therapeutic doses" until recovery.

Yes, do the herbal circulatory cleanses as suggested. For a strong heart, take Magnesium Carnitine, and CoQ10.

ACV, Garlic, Ginger, Lemon, Honey:

The combination of all five ingredients is super effective if made properly and followed diligently.

I make this combination for family friends suffering from high cholesterol problems.

To make approx two liters of medicine....

  • Grind 500/600 grams of Ginger
  • 500/600 grams of Garlic, use a little water if required to make a fine paste.
  • 1 kilogram Lemon to make fresh lemon juice.
  • 600 ml of ACV (Apple cider vinegar)
  • and atleast 1 kilogram of raw honey.

Mix all four contents except honey in a utensil with a thick bottom and put on high flame for 5 minutes but keep stirring continuously without stopping. then lower the flame to a little less than medium and stir for 15 minutes. Finally increase the flame to high again and stir for 5 minutes continuously and then remove the utensil from the flame and let the mixture cool down.

Once the mixture is cool add all the honey and mix well. Store it in a pet bottle and keep it in the fridge.

Before you start this dose, get a cholesterol test done for future reference.

Dosage and Method

Every morning between 5 am to 7 am absolutely empty stomach...not even water

3 teaspoons of the can go back to sleep if you need to.

First 3-4 days you may feel uneasy or maybe have a bad stomach...but don't worry.

After the first 7 days, start going for brisk walk for 20 minutes or a treadmill jog for 10 minutes at 25 KMPH. Follow this schedule for next 23 days, then get a cholesterol test done once again and check. The last person I gave this medicine...Bad cholesterol dropped from 254 to 172 in 35 days.

My best wishes to you all.

Can someone give this to me in U.S. Conversion? When I try it gives me 2+ cups of ginger and I cannot believe that is correct.

Replied by Chris

I wonder if this mixture would kinda replace CoQ10?

Replied by Timh

This mixture is a good "cleaner" for accumulated toxins & waste that collect in the arteries. CoQ10 may help prevent the clogging but would do little for clearing. CoQ10 is a primary energy source for much of the cells in the body and particularly fuel the heart muscle. CoQ10 works best in combination w/ Selenium and Full Spectrum Vit-E. CoQ10 is not well absorbed taken orally so the best is Liposomal CoQ10 or CoQ10 conjugated w/ Glutathione.

Why do you heat this? I would think it would be more effective not heated. I've seen the same recipe made both ways, heated and not heated. Is there a good reason to heat it? Or is it just for a milder garlic taste?

I shredded a cup of ginger & cup of garlic, did not put it into blender, added the lemon juice and Apple Cider Vinegar and boiled it on low heat. I let it cool and added the honey. It is not juice consistency but pulpy. Was I supposed to use enough garlic & ginger to be I cup each of juice? Take it with water? How much each day? Thank you, herb

I combined ACV, honey, lemon juice, and ginger in a glass of hot rain water and drank it in the morning before I consumed anything else. By the end of Day 1 I began to experience heart irregularities. Thinking it was anxiety I again took a glass of the mixture on Day 2. All day long my heart beat irregularly every 3,5, or 8 beats. Incredibly annoying. I stopped drinking the mixture and on Day 3, except for a few skipped beats, everything was back to normal. Day 4, haven't taken the mixture (of course) and waiting to see if I can go through the day without even one "hiccup"...

How do you get so much garlic and ginger juice? Do you add water to it to get a cupful?

Replied by Done

I found that recipe too, but I didn't see the sense in cooking it. In a cup, I mix 1 tsp (each ingredient) of: lemon juice, minced garlic (already liquidfied in the jar), ACV and honey. Then I add a bit of warm water to liquidity the mixture into something drinkable - then down the hatch it goes! I didn't add ginger because I can't stand the taste of it (not for me I'll stick with the pills). Since I make it in cup it's the right amount to drink two/three times week.

My friend was diagnosed as important arteries blocked 50%. Doctors appointed him to insert a stent for the next week. He told the doctor that his horoscope was not good that time frame and dragged another weeks. But the doctor gave him 12 days appointment. Mean time he tried the ACV, Garlic, Ginger, Lemon recipe with 1 table spoon in the morning and one in the afternoon. On the day of operation, the doctors found out that the arteries were only 10% blocked and told him no need to insert the stent. Amazing home remedy.

After researching I found that it has reacted with metal vessels and I can get metal toxity if I consume. It could damage my kidney or liver. Then I found I can get this formula ready made available by Dr. Patkar's. This is very helpful and I am feeling very good now. No breathlessness. No chest pain. doctor told me to hold my by-pass as my health is improving.

Hi Pradeep,

Honey is mixed only to make it palatable otherwise it may be rather difficult for one to take. What I would suggest you is that make it without the honey and then if it tastes offensive then you can add minimum honey as per your requirement and then take it. That much honey is not going to act adversely.

I have been suffering from angina and shortness of breadth for more than three years. Upon advice from my cardiologist, I went for an angiogram three months ago and found 7 of my arteries were blocked, 2 at 90%, the rest were between 40 and 80%. A stent was immediately inserted on the artery with 90% blockage, and I was asked to go back for another angioplasty in two weeks time. I hesitated as I dislike the invasive operation and I wanted to have a more conservative approach to my heart problems. My son suggested I should try the concoction of garlic, ginger, lemon and apple cider vinegar juice. I did try for about 6 weeks and then one day I suddenly found myself have a very uncomfortable chest pain, and I was very much alarmed because of my heart history. I asked to be sent to the Emergency at Sunny Brook, a reputable research hospital, right away. In view of my recent record the doctor on duty scheduled me to have angioplasty the following morning, and immediately gave me a series of tests. The next morning, the cardiologist in charge studied results of my tests and could not found anything wrong with my heart but he could not take my case lightly in view of the record of blockages. He then decided to give me further tests, including the Echo Stress Test. And again everything was found to be in excellent health and I was discharged in the evening. The cardiologist believed my chest pain was due to indigestion. I have no proof that my blockages were cleared since the doctor saw there was no need to give me an angiogram. But I do believe it is the concoction that brings me back my heart health. I strongly suggest that anyone with a heart problem should try this remarkable concoction.

Hi Jagatheesan,

Honey is mixed to make it palatable, otherwise it will be quite strong and you may not like it. So, if you are diabetic use less of honey as per your taste. You have to take one cup of each, lemon juice, ginger juice, garlic juice, and apple cider vinegar and boil it on low heat till it remains to three cups and then let it cool. Once it is cool then you can mix one cup or even less if you feel like of honey in to it. Keep this mixture in the fridge and take a tea spoon of it two to three times a day. It will help you, this works like a heart tonic.

Since the calcification is too hard the method got failed.

In this place I got strucked.

While I was remembering The Great Healer My Eternal God Father Divine Supreme Lord Shiva Dhanvantry, I came to know about your natural Medicine healing syrup of Apple cider vinegar with lemon, ginger, garlic, honey as well as Mother ACV intake method to remove / clear the calcification fro. the artries

A result like that in less than two weeks doesn't seem credible. I'm very happy for your friend, but given that he only took the mixture for 12 days, I highly doubt that it cleared his blockage by 40%. A misdiagnosis is the more likely answer. They might have thought he was 50% blocked but when they saw him again and tested him again, they saw that they'd made an error.

Good for him though! :)

Hope you are feeling better.

Hello guys! I had a heart attack 1.5 years ago and started using this ACV, Garlic, Ginger, Lemon tonic so a few tips from me:

1. REMEMBER! This is not a medicine (and is possibly just snake oil I.E., A fraud! ). Do NOT stop taking your prescribed medicines (such as aspirin etc).

Desparate people like ourselves search the internet to a solution for our cardio woes and all you find are quack remedies and stories for gullible people from charlatans, cranks and pyramidiots!

2. There are natural items that will reduce cardio problems (such as garlic and ginger) which make me continue with this solution but do not expect a miracle cure! Overnight, 2 week, 2 month blockage clearance? Hah! Better make a sacrifice to the faerie folk!

3. If you have blocked or semi blocked arteries you will probably have them for life now but you can reduce the blockage (very very slowly!) over time if you follow a very strict regime. This means major lifestyle changes. Your present situation is as a result of genetics and bad practices earlier in your life.

4. I have a stent and 50% blocked arteries - this solution has not affected me so I am guessing it is fairly safe to use (in the small recommended doses people describe I.E., 1 or 2 spoons max.)

5. It always turns blue-green for me the moment I start cooking / simmering and reducing the volume down. I think this is normal.

6. To prevent it stinking the fridge out after it is prepared (I don't even refrigerate it, it just sits on my counter ready to use) put it in an airtight container doh! I store it in one of those glass bottles with a ceramic cork on top and a rubber seal at the base of the cork.

The best advice I have seen so far to really reduce a coronary blockage (and medically proven) is the 'Spectrum' system of Dr Dean Ornish M.D. He has treated Bill Clinton and others with advanced arteriosclerosis but his system is a quite radical change.

The major points of the system are to stop smoking (if you do), exercise regularly (40 mins a day of brisk walking 3-5 times a week is sufficient to make you fit!), eat healthily (essentially cutting ALL fats and oils down to the barest minimums for us serious cases - that means cooking without oil, cutting out all dairy, nuts, oily things like avocado and chocolate, seeds etc, reducing caffeine and alcohol intake and finally to put a little more love in your life by adopting a pet or changing your attitude towards family and friends.

I also took up Transcendental meditation (TM) as that was recommeded to reduce my stress, anxiety and aggression. It works! If you believe in a god or gods, then prayer may also be useful in this respect.

You can buy Dr Dean Ornish books (he also has a website) and I recommend if you only buy one, you get "The Spectrum".

Another useful book I came across was "Reverse Heart Disease Now" by Sinatra and Roberts (again both bonafide M. D. S). This book offers similar advice to Ornish with a recommendation to to use mineral and vitamin supplements to alleviate cardio problems.

I hope you find this advice useful! I started my changes after my heart attack and I lost loads of weight! I dropped 3 trouser sizes and I'm gonna keep going unti; I am the size of my late teens / early twenties! It's easy to lose weight if someone tells you that you will die if you don't, lol!

It is too early to see if my blockages are reduced. I will keep you posted if I do get the tests done.

By the way, I have a friend (Indian) who has a blood sugar problem and he keeps it under control by taking great care of his diet also. He avoids or drastically minimises sweet foods like fruits and also white rice (which makes his blood sugar spike dramatically).

Cheers, Mike

In reply to Saudi Mike. It's really very simple. Heart disease is about one thing - cleaning your arteries. Heart disease issue has been filled with so much disinformation. Blood pressure, cholesterol levels, salt intake are irrelevant. Prescription medications are damaging. The natural way to clean your arteries is using FIBROLYTIC ENZYMES. China has done thousands of studies on them. They prevent heart attack and strokes. There are no side effects and the body will use what it needs and no more. No need for so many other alternative remedies either. Better to take a more direct approach. No doctor visits and little expense. Better to let the body heal itself.

For people who have been through the medical system with stents (one of the many unnecessary operations they foist on people) and other crap, it is much harder to advise them since I don't know the implications of all that other medical intervention crap. Medical doctors scare patients away from alternatives.

Hello, i am taking this mix for last 11 week, feeling 20-25% benefit in regard my problem, my main symptoms are breathlessness while walking or doing some work etc.

Stopped aspirin 10 weeks back.

Please advise me how long I have to take ACV, garlic, ginger, lemon and honey.

I'd suggest keeping it up for a year, but if you want to stop the breathlesness start taking cayenne. It works straight away by dilating small blood vessels and increasing the oxygen. It will increase the effect of the other treatment as well.

Hello Gavin, starting from tomorrow cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon a day, is it ok?

Secondly will this interact with ACV, Garlic, ginger lemon and honey?

thanks, best regards, Davinder

Yes i'd say that would be adequate, if you make it into a paste with butter or oil on bread or something similar, it makes it more palatable, some people like the heat, so its up to you. It increases the effect of other treatments as well by opening up the small capillaries.

Can you please indicate the specifics of the mixture you used for blocked arteries? What were the proportions of each ingredient and what amount and how often did you consume the mixture? Thank you.

I would like to try this remedy. However, I don't have a juice extractor. I have a blender. Can I blend garlic and ginger really fine and just use the wet pulp to cook with lemon juice and ACV, instead of squeezing juice out from the wet pulp of garlic and ginger.

I wonder whether anyone else has tried the above and whether it worked or not. Your advice is highly appreciated.

Can someone please tell me how long this mixture will last in the frig? I made some and then came down with a stomach virus. I could hardly keep water down. What I have is a week old, is it still good or do I need to toss it and start again. This tonic may be good for you but it stinks up the whole house plus I hate to waste it and the time and effort.

Hi Patrick, Well, I don't think that the color would be greenish. Since we add the honey in to the mixture that gives a kind of dark color to it. But, as I have said earlier if the mixture is kept in the fridge it is ok to use. Because if it is kept out in the room temp. It gets fermented and then the taste is affected, but as for benifits are concerned in my opinion should not change, because fermented food to some extent is healthy, like khimchi, ACV. Good Luck

I just made it last night. Used a slow juicer for 16 medium cloves of garlic, about 600gm ginger, 3 lemons & a pyrex bowl to cook. The final mixture color is yellowish ochre. (Includes 1 cup of apple cider + 1 cup of honey)

I will consume it for general health maintenance.

My aunt has started consuming 1 tbsp before breakfast for 3 weeks now, & she confirmed that there is no change in the color of her mixture. Good for bowel movement, too.

[Tips: Can use the ginger & garlic pulp for cooking or fry them in oil & add a tbsp for salad dressing or food.}

Hello Guys,

For the guys whose recipe turned green, did you consume the recipe? Did it work? Cause I followed the same instructions and I got a green mixture as well.

Warsaw, Indiana, Usa

The reason your mixture changes to a greenish tint is because it is being cooked in a metal pan. The acidic level of this mixture, while great for your arteries, corrodes the metal, making it unfit to use (unless you enjoy high levels of metal toxicity in your system). Try using a glass or ceramic cooking utensil.

Hi, This is in response to Abhi, Rameshchandra, David, Tara and Raghav, heart attack and having stent placed is no disqualification to take the natural things. All the ingredients of the mixture you are talking about are what we eat day to day, they are very healthy and are heart friendly and under no circumstances they will harm the heart. Ted and Bill have written a lot on this subject on this site so feel free to take it. Statins on the contrary have very strong side effects and in my opinion should be avoided as for as possible, they do less good and more harm. Ted on this site has recommended lemon oil 10 drops twice a day as a good aid to clean the arteries. Good Luck

And don't forget the trials on Pomegranate juice are very interesting, it actually reverses atherosclerosis, and unblocks blocked up arteries. The science on this one is very good.

The mixture will help keep more build up out the stint.

The lemon juice will do that. When my wife drinks the juice of a half lemon daily, her stint in her kidney stays amazingly clean and when replaced they come out quickly and without build up. Also a remedy for disolving kidney stones is one half lemon in a glass of water and drink... Do that ten times a day for two weeks. The stone will dissolve and come out without pain because the sharp edges have been eaten away by the citric acid.

On my father's heart surgery I got him on 1,000 iu of NATURAL ... not synthetic Vit E a day. He never got a build up and he lived 20 years after his heart surgery. Start with 200 iu of natural Vitamin E (d alpha tocopherol) NOT dl alpha tocopherol... And over a month increase to 400 etc till you are at 600 minimum. Vit E will thin the blood, so if one is on a blood thinner, you'd need to begin cutting back on the thinner as you increase the E. Asprin is a thinner, don't forget.

For dosages that you asked about, start with a tablespoon of ACV with the garlic, lemon mixture and drink on an empty stomach. If your stomach is not bothered by that, do it again before bed. The ACV will help with reflux also. The ginger is a "driver. " It will help deliver the mixture deeply and throughout the cells. If the mix is too much on an empty stomach, then take with meals.

Hi Priti, In your combination there is no ingredient other than honey which should give you weight gain and you are taking only two spoons a day, in which honey portion is too little. What I guess is that you are improving your over all health and therefore your cal. intake has increased which is showing on you, so start some exercise and carry on taking your combination and avoid any junk food. Drinking water after taking the combination is ok. Baldev 09322887066.

Boiling I would suggest, is definiatly a bad thing to do.. It destroys the organic structure of the vitamin c. and probably reduces the medicine to a placebo effect.

I'd be a bit carefull as ginger and garlic are potent blood thinners, and you are already on aspirin. You loose blood from the gut everytime you take an aspirin. Statins are contraindicated with grapefruit. Lemon juice and apple cider vinegar should clean out the arteries, might be best to stick with them. Or knock off the asprin and do the garlic and ginger?

If your blood is getting to thin (coagulation time increases) there is a high risk of internal bleeding (including stroke). I would not mix medication and natural remedies. You have to avoid contusions or any physical accidents.

I agree with Gavin specifically but generally the goal is to reduce the amount of pharmaceutical meds to at least half. Tell your doctor that you would not like to continue taking this large amount of meds indefinitely. Mention you are eating heart healthy food and would like smaller doses (mg) to coincide with your new diet.

As for the natural regimen for artery cleaning, "start low and go slow" is the safe method.

Supplementing Carnitine and CoQ10 will significantly strengthen and improve the Heart.

Yes... Take it slow and build up the Apple Cider Vinegar and lemon juice over a couple of weeks, you don't want to strip to much calcium off the artery walls to fast, remember it has been deposited to protect the artery wall, probably because of something in the diet.... Free running table salt seems to be a main culprit, change to sea salt.... and probably too much calcium from various sources. The Apple Cider Vinegar and lemon juice dissolve the calcium in just the way it cleans a furred up kettle, so make sure you keep your fluids up, to flush the offending residue out. If you suffer from breathlesness and cyanosis (blueing of the extremities) have a serious look at cayenne but remember this is also a blood thinner.

Hi Davinder - Like the others said, you will need to do some research before combining conventional medications with alternative methods.

Is it possible for you to see a naturopath or find a doctor who is open to a more natural approach to health?

Having said that, there is some interesting information on serrapeptase for heart health on the internet.Well worth checking out. Good luck!

I have a pot of this concoction on the stove "as we speak". I am here looking for a proper way of preparing it as one recipe calls for all four cups of the liquids to be boiled down to one, only one cup, and then adding the honey. I think I will go for the recipe indicated here. I am using a juice extractor for all the juices as opposed to buying them on-line. The house smells wonderful. I was told that I have a small calcium blockage in one of my arteries, so I will use this until Jesus comes, and we shall see what the results of my next test will be six months down the line. I think that the honey will counterbalance the acidity nicely, but I'm no doctor, so don't take my word for it--just seems to make sense to me. Cheers and stay healthy.

Barbara in San Antonio: did it help? My husband has heart problems (valve calcifications)- he is drinking IT once a day--his appointment with cardiologist is 1/20/15! So until that time he agreed to try IT. by IT I describe the stuff that we do. He was afraid of ACV because of his acid reflux so for first batch we used 3 lemons, 3 huge apples, big chunk of ginger and 5 bulbs of garlic. Juiced it all, boiled and simmered for 30 min (turned greenish) and added 3 tbsp. of honey (not more because of his diabetes. His stomach was ok with it so for the second batch we doubled ginger, garlic, lemons, used 3 apples again and half cup of ACV. This time it did not change color but this time I didn't boil it before simmering. I think this is better. He drinks it now, his stomach is fine, but he still gets breathless sometimes... too often... For the third batch I want to use 1 full cup of ACV and no apples. PLEASE advise me how many lemons, bulbs of garlic, how big a piece of ginger to make 1 cup of juice from each???

I have to blend it first before my juicer takes it so I really need to know quantities.
