[YEA] 05/11/2006: Julie from River Grove, IL writes: "I sent in a comment on 5/2/06, and I have an additional comment to make: I noticed some of you have written in and are concerned about how to get rid of the fungal infection in the internal nail. When you use oil of oregano on your nails for treatment of nail fungus, you will notice it is actually absorbed into the entire nail and completely destroys all of the fungus. You will not be disappointed in the results!"

[YEA] 05/02/2006: Julie from River Grove, IL writes: "I am very happy to pass this on to anyone who has this condition because you will absolutely get rid of your discolored/thickened toenails with no side effects! I know because my nails are clear and beautiful again. Apply oil of oregano to your nails with a Q-tip in the morning and evening. You can buy oil of oregano at any health food store. Do this and your unsightly toenails will be a thing of the past. Do this for approximately 6 or 7 months, so your new clear toenails will grow in and that's it! I followed this advice and my nails are completely clear and normal."

[YEA] 04/23/2006: Marylynn from Louisville, Kentucky writes: "I tried olive leaf extract for overall infection in my body. About 3 months later, during a pedicure, I noticed that my toenails were perfect! I stopped taking it after a while, so finally after a long time, maybe almost a year, the fungus came back. I work in a hot, humid and dirty environment where toenail fungus is a common problem. After discovering this, I looked it up on the internet and read that it does indeed cure toenail fungus!"

[YEA] 07/11/2006: Ellen writes: "I've been using Ozonated Olive Oil & 2 drops of white distilled vinegar at the base of the toenail @ 12 hour intervals. The fungal part is growing out and there is a growing "pink" area between the half-moon and the fungal part. This has been a 30 year fungal infection and this is the most progress that I have ever seen. April through June, I was using many different remedies. But in the last 3 weeks, I have been using the 2 drops at the base of the toenail every 12 hours. This is the cheap white (clear) distilled vinegar that is 4% or 5% acetic acid. And I've been using the ozonated olive oil every 12 hours. I apply it to the toenail and then I cover the toenail with a bandaid, to keep the olive oil in place. I bought the olive oil on ebay. It is working and I am excited! I've been using prescription Thymol in an alcohol solution for over 3 years, and it hasn't done this much. Did I say that I am excited?!"

[YEA] 03/17/2008: Ellen from Redwood Shores, CA writes: "I've been working on my toenails since December 2005. I've tried numerous remedies, probably 10-20. And for the first time ever, I see pink growth peaking out of the base of my two big toenails. I am doing 2 antifungals twice a day. Every morning and evening, I am applying Fungoid Tincture and then Tineacide. I try to also apply Clotrimazole 2% during the day sometime, but it's not always possible. I started the Clotrimazole 2% on Sept. 18th, Tineacide on Dec. 14th and Fungoid Tincture on Jan. 20th. Then around Feb. 28th or so, I discovered the PINK! So, I am guessing that it's from the application of the FT, since I believe that it takes about a month to see visible growth. I only hope that it continues to grow and that this new pink nail will be resistant to the fungus at the free edge. I don't work for any of these companies. I just wanted to pass along this tip to anyone who has stubborn toenail fungus, like my 35 year old toenail."

[YEA] 03/15/2007: Rebecca from Victoria, BC, Canada writes: "I had a severe fungal infection under my big toenail. My doctor prescribed antibiotics that I would need to take for a year (lamisil?); this drug had a risk of serious side effects and also required completely giving up drinking alcohol for a year! Before taking the antibiotic, I decided to try just applying rubbing alcohol (50% alcohol readily available and cheap at any pharmacy) twice a day.
I put the alcohol in an eye-dropper and was careful to get as much under the nail as possible; I also cleaned out dead skin if necessary. I did this twice a day, and also at any time when my feet got wet. I saw progress very soon, and the fungus was completely clear in 6 months. I did not lose the nail as had been predicted. I did not change my diet, stop drinking, or take any special supplements - just the external rubbing alcohol directly on/under the infected toenail.
Worth a try for a month; if you are diligent you will see progress and this has to be the cheapest, easiest way to handle the problem."

You can go to any Whole Foods Store and buy Himalayan Salt, like I did. It works! Bleach and Vicks are not natural remedies. Please do not do these remedies you will harm your liver and kidneys not to mention bleach is also a skin irritant. Read the warning labels and you will see that they are completely toxic. Rule of thumb, if you can't eat it don't put it on your skin. Also, Monostat is not a natural remedy either. It is a fungicide. After a while it will not work. Your fungus will grow immune and will need stronger stuff. You can create a super fungus that can eat your skin away. Don't do it."

I found info on the web that suggested Selsun Blue shampoo on the fungus..I bought a generic from a local store. It immediately took away the scaling between my toes and on the sides of my feet. I also had 90% less itching/burning in my groin area after 1 treatment.... Instructions suggested 4-6 weeks of daily treatment and then use 2 times a week after that."

Basically my GP diagnosed that it was a fungal skin infection (it ate away alot of my tan). he told me to completely cover myself in blue selsun shampoo - I cant recall how long for except that it was maybe only once for a few hours. it worked. I now have what I suspect to be a fungal nail infection and thought about using selsun for this as well, and wanted to see if anyone else agreed."

[YEA] 08/12/2005: ENash from Aurora, Colorado writes: "This may seem too simple, but it is working for me. Simply wash your toes and nails with hand soap. Wash every 2-14 days. Less if becoming dry and cracking. More if fungus is developing on the surface of the toes. Rubbing with a dark towel will show fungus as a light color.
I used Fungicream on my toe which had about a 1/4 inch thickness of fungus under the nail. It worked well, but after 2 months, I developed a bright bloody red rash. I stopped the treatment and washed my toes to get rid of the Fungicream. The fungus bloomed and the nail became worse than ever. Three weeks later the rash began to disappear. I continued to wash my toes. I marked the boundary between the pink nail and the fungus damaged nail with a black permanent marker. The line ran across the nail about 1/8 of an inch from the base of the nail. 5 months have passed and the line has moved to about 60% of the distance from the base. There is only pink nail below the line. No fungus has appeared and the original fungus has crumbled.
I expect that it will take 5 more months to push the nail to the end and I think that it will remove the fungus. I believe that the fungus under the nail needs support from the fungus on the skin and that the oil and cleaning with soap removes the support system. Alternatively, it could be to the Fungicream or other conditions. In any case this is simple, has no cost, and is relatively easy to do. If you don't feel like it is working after 2 months, you could try the Fungicream with the cleaning. Be sure to measure where you put the line. It grows slowly and it is difficult to tell that anything is going on until many months have passed."

[YEA] 04/22/2009: Jennifer from Grants Pass, Oregon writes: "Only 3 days ago, I picked up some tea tree oil to (hopefully) get rid of my toe nail fungus. I've been applying it everyday, 3-4 times a day and straight from the bottle with a cotton swab. On day two, I started to mix the tea tree oil with petroleum jelly to make it "stick" to my toes longer. I have to say that did the trick. I am completely rid of the toe nail fungus. I had it on four of my toes, two of which were pretty well infected. I'll be honest, I was really skeptical that it would work, but it did and a lot faster than I expected. I hope everyone has the same luck I do with the tea tree oil/petroleum jelly treatment."
EC: How can you tell that you are completely rid of the nail fungus in 3 days? It takes a few weeks before you can see whether or not the nail is growing back normally again!

I've spent a fortune on all the over the counter creams and also my doctor has prescribed a few things, to no avail. I read somewhere about 2 months ago to use Tea Tree oil. I've been applying the oil for 6 weeks now and have had no itching since the first application and the fungus has cleared up remarkedly. There is still remnants of scarring and discolorization in the area and I really think the fungus is still there but I'm going to continue this treatment. Any suggestions as to what else to do would be appreciated."

[YEA] 01/28/2008: Jeff from Bedford, Virginia writes: "I had the toe condition that you see on TV in which the nail dries and seems to die and becomes unattached to the nail bed. The prescription medicine has side effects of harming the liver so I looked for something non-toxic. I read about Tea Tree Oil and ordered some from a well know mail order vitimen supplier. I used a cotton swab and worked the oil under the nail and coated the entire outer nail. Within two weeks the decay had stopped and I could see the nail bed attached to the new growth. I'll continue until the nail completely is replaced and that should take about 8 months (my nails grow slowly) This stuff is great!"

What I do is apply the tea tree oil first rub it in and try and get it down the back of the nail, then I rub a good amount of vics vapor rub all over the nail bed. I also filled my infected toe nail in both directions Across and down, allowing the mixture to absorb in quicker I only file once a week so not to make my nail sore. I apply this twice per day once in the Morning and again before bed time. I cover my toe nail up with a cotton wool cosmetic pad and surgical tape to keep it in place while I am sleeping."

[YEA] 07/17/2006: Crystal from VA writes: "I have hard rough skin around fingernails causing them to become brittle; discomforting in daily tasks like typing and basic tasks involving fingers and hands. My nail fungus problem began on my right big toe. I thought it was an in-grown nail. A whole summer I sat out in the sunlight picking at it with a file and tweezers and finally saw a podiatrist. She told me it was fungus and that the only cure was Lamisil. I of course could not fathom the health risks and financial costs the drug involves. I have a strong faith and am Spiritual, therefore I knew there must be some natural remedy for this problem. I asked around and someone said tea tree oil. For the next few weeks I noticed the problem worsening in my other toes, and more recently has started to grow in my fingers.
In my retail job I waited on a customer who happens to own our local health food store. I asked her, and she also said tea tree oil. My next day off, I went straight to her store and purchased a bottle of Thursday Plantation brand of nail fungus therapy with tea tree oil. I started the treatment on my fingers only and noticed immediately that the discomfort had disappeared. The next day the dead skin was peeling off to reveal my fresh healthy skin underneath. I am on day 4 now and my fingers and nails are starting to look and feel like MINE again! When they are back to normal I'll start the real test on my big toe, on which the nail is almost gone! When speaking to the owner of the store at which I made my purchase, she said the remedy works as long as the treatment is administered diligently! So, if you purchase this product, please stick to your regime! To your healthy and happy fingertips, toes and nails! (: ~Crystal"

I have two other nails that are infected but it is proving to be more difficult to get rid of. I would definitely give the tea tree oil a try. I am now going to try Vicks vapour rub on the other nails."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 10/05/2009: Gay from Winnsboro, Texas writes: "So glad I found this site. I have had toenail fungus for about 8-10 yrs. on my big toe that had spread to some of my other toes. Tried so many things and even went to a Podiatrist but to no avail and then I found yall's site in May 2009. My big toe nail is definitely better but doesn't look as good as the other one. The other 2 are all cured. They weren't as bad. Here's what I did. Mainly followed the advice on here. Mixed 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 peroxide in a little bottle. Mixed 4 parts water to 1 part bleach in another bottle. First applied the vin/per. solution on each nail and let it set for a minute or so and then applied a drop of bleach/water to each nail. I let that dry. I begin to notice a difference in a couple of weeks but then I did have to cut the nail and file it down on top on my big toe to really get the fungus killed. I do this a least twice a day sometimes even 3 times. My nails do look a lot better. I just use distilled vinegar not ACV. And sometimes I do apply a little drop of straight bleach to my big toe and little toe. Thanks again for this site."

[NAY] 07/19/2009: Carol from Largo, FL writes: "Hi Ted,
I appreciate the time you take to offer so much information on how to cure ailments naturally. I've had toenail fungus for many years and have spent tons of money and still can't get rid of it! I gave your formula of ACV with peroxide, followed by clorox and then tea tree oil mixture and did it for about a month and my toenails are still the same! Also, the tea tree oil burns my skin and it peals all around my nail, which makes my toes look really gross! I want to give the alkalizing a try too see if that helps. I feel I have internal fungus (candida) and that's why I can't get rid off this, because I also have seborrheic dermititis and scalp problems.
Is there something you suggest I should do?
Thanks, Carol"

I work as a server in a resteraunt, so it is very important that my hands look neat and well groomed, so the customers dont get grossed out! I have bitten my nails since I was a kid, and I decided that it might look better and help me stop biting if I would put fake nails on, long story short, I ended up with fingernail fungus. It started in 1 fingernail, and is now moving to all, but the problem is, my hands get wet everyday, I have to put my hands in our bleach bucket to get towels to wipe down the tables after customers have left, so this has been a real battle!! bleach doesnt help fight in this situation, it seems to make it worse, but the 1/2 apple cider vinegar and 1/2 peroxide is really working, one of my nails is slowly coming off, and each day I soak in the morning, afternoon and evening before bed, and as the nail clears up i keep cutting it off, my other nails i think i caught in time before they got as bad as this one, i dare not try the bleach after, since my hands are in it all day as it is. but the vineger and peroxide are working good, and i can tell whatever kind of fungus this is, it cant stand it!!! wish me luck, because im in for a ride!! but i cant afford the expensive products they have out there, and its just a shame i had to buy a cheap set of nails, and end up with a fungus! I also think the bucket at work doesnt help the matter any either."
