GENERAL FEEDBACK

09/25/2011: Yusuf from Leicester, England writes: "Hello, I recently stumbled upon this website and I have to say it is a god send for me, so much information about natural cures, a Big Thank You to all the posts, keep it up, you don't realise how many people your helping.

The question I'd like to ask is I recently started using Apple Cider Vinegar as a mouthwash and every time this brown speckles, sometimes like thick mucous thing (sorry only way I can think of describing it) comes out, anyone know what it is?

I recently read that some lemon or lime juice with 3x rose water, so 1/4 lemon juice, 3/4 rose water is very good for bad breath elimination, it kills all the bad bacteria and it makes your breath smell fresh, I read it in a herbal book but never tried it myself, so anyone that does, let me know if it works.

I'd greatly appreciate if someone can answer my question for me.

Thank you and keep up the good work."

[YEA]  05/06/2007: Sandra from Near Atlanta, Georgia writes: "Thank you for this site. It is so informative and helpful! I discovered it a few months ago after I did a search for more information on oil pulling after hearing about it on a radio show. Since then I occassionally browse your site. I have yet to try the oil pulling, but I have started using Apple Cider Vinegar and the Blackstrap Molasses. I have not been consistent with the Blackstrap Molasses, but it has helped me. I am anemic with a fibroid & feel the difference in my energy & appearence. I have been using the ACV every day. I drink it in the mornings and I also put it in bottled water & take it with me to work to sip on all day. This has helped me with bad breath and is strengthening my gums and teeth.

I also want to share something that will stop bad breath that I have not seen discussed anywhere. I know from personal experience how big this problem can be. Perhaps my experience will help someone who is hurting and needing help as I was. I quit a very good job because of my problem. I suffered a lot of hurt and embarrassment not to mention the financial stress of being unemployed. At the time I could not see another solution to my problem. My job required talking on the telephone with customers all day long and being in close quarters with many co-workers. I could not afford to go to the dentist. Even though I had that job I was not yet eligible for dental insurance. I wish I'd found the solution before I quit. I had very bad breath from infected gums and an infected tooth with a hole in it. I tried all kinds of things, but nothing would stop the smell. I tried several things and added more things as I discovered them. (Peroxide, baking soda, lots of vitamin C, etc.) Then I decided that I could temporarily plug up the hole with cotton soaked with Tea Tree Oil. Then I started using some dental wax to cover the cotton. That helped a lot, but the smell & taste from the infected tooth came back after a very short period of time. Then one day I decided to see what herbs the herbalist Dr. John Christopher recommended for my problem. In that search I found information on Echinacea. He said this herb actually eliminates foul odors and fetid discharges. It's anti-putrefactive, and arrests pus formation. Also it is an excellent healing agent wherever tissue decay is taking place and it is a blood purifier. I immediately found some Echinacea and Goldenseal capsules that I had sitting around and took some. Then I opened one of the capsules and poured some of the powder in the hole in my tooth and packed it with the Tea Tree Oil soaked cotton. This WORKED! The Echinacea & Goldenseal powder got rid of the odor! It's getting rid of the infection. It turns out that Goldenseal is also good for periodontal disease. It also helps with digestive disorders that might cause bad breath. I'm thrilled! I now have another good job that is in some ways better than the other one. It also requires that I talk to customers on the telephone all day and be in close quarters with co-workers. Everything is fine there. I have not been to a dentist yet, but my bad breath and gum infection is under control. I will eventually have to go to the dentist to have the hole filled, but I am so happy that this problem is solved. No more embarrassment from having bad breath and I don't have to make an expensive trip to the dentist without insurance. Again, THANK YOU for this site. You don't know how much you're helping by the information you provide."

GOOD ORAL HYGIENE, NASAL CLEANSING AND SUPPLEMENTS

[YEA]  02/28/2008: Angel from Miami, USA writes: "topped my bad breath with good oral hygiene, nasal cleansing and supplements.

I removed a piece of popcorn kernel from under my gum which had a terrible smell. After that, my dentist and doctors said I was in good health but I still had bad breath for the next 2 years.

My oral routine is now an enzyme promoting toothgel and mouthwash(that treat my dry mouth and contain xylitol), floss, a tongue scraper, and an anticeptic oral cleanser containing carbamide. I floss, then crape my tongue gently. Then put 10 drops of carbamide gel on my tongue, mix with saliva and spit. I put 3 drops of carbamide gel on my soft bristle toothbrush then brush my teeth, gums, cheeks and tongue. Rinse and gargle with mouthwash. That's ususally three times a day. And about 3 times a week I polish my teeth, etc before I brush -- mix in my hand of 1 tsp each of baking soda and salt with a little water.

I cleanse my sinus/nasal area with a nasal irrigator a few times a week with 1 tsp each of salt and baking soda. Or twice a day if I am having sinus problems.

The other key was treating my sinus/post nasal problem with whole food supplements that contain supercritical garlic and oregano. Also changed my mouth and body's smell with a whole food supercritical antioxidants blend like tumeric, clove, ginger rosemary. And sip plenty of water through the day to stay hydrated. If I chew gum, it contains xylitol.

I needed to do a better job of brushing when and how I should. My body just needed supplements to be more healthy. The byproduct is I generally just feel better. The best thing is for the first time in years, I am not self conscious when I kiss my husband."

[YEA]  11/12/2011: Naiveburrito from Lincoln, Ne writes: "I have had bad breath starting around age 12. It's nothing that's stopping me from having a social life, but, gum has been offered... And sometimes you can just tell. I had strep many times as a kid, and have always had huge tonsils and sinus issues incluing post-nasal drip. It took me awhile to figure out that brushing my teeth wasn't sufficient. A doctor told me I had tonsil stones when I was 18. I read somewhere that a way to see if you had bad breath was to lick your hand and smell it after 30 seconds. I tried that and there was no smell, so I knew it wasn't in my mouth. I had an epiphany and touched the back of my tonsil, and my finger reeked like rotten egg/sulfuric/sickly sweet/salty??? crap.

What I have tried:

Hydrogen Peroxide: Works great on the short term as a substitute for mouthwash. Not a long term solution.

Apple Cider Vinegar: I felt like it freshened things up, but the effects seemed to diminish over time.

Grapefruit seed extract: same as ACV.

I spent hours digging around in my tonsils, but they still smelled bad. There is a deep crypt behind my left tonsil that seems to be the trouble spot.
I bought a neti pot, which really does the trick, but only for 3-4 hours.

One day I bought some colloidal silver. I gargled with it, and it seemed to help. Then, I decided to shoot it up my nose with a dental syringe. I leaned over the sink and slowly shot a stream up, and bent my head over so that it could 'penetrate the sinuses'. It worked better than anything I had tried before!

I got a little paranoid reading about colloidal silver online, and didn't want to overdo it. So, I decided to break out the old Grapefruit seed extract. Success!
I dilute it and shoot it up the nose with the syringe. It really clears things out. I have been doing this for about 2 weeks and realize I am no longer conscious of a gross taste in my throat. When I touch my tonsil, my finger doesn't smell. GRAPEFRUIT SEED EXTRACT UP THE NOSE! I still use the silver sometimes, but usually just once a week. Needless to say I am pretty happy about this. Give it a try if you think your halitosis is sinus related."

H. PYLORI CAUSE

02/17/2011: Louise from Chicago, Il writes: "After about 10 years of chronic halitosis I have finally been cured. I am a healthy 36 year old female but had halitosis no matter what I did. I wanted to get to the root of my problem so I tried oral hygiene. I brushed, cleaned with baking soda, vinegar, various mouth washes. Nothing worked. I then was seen by a ear, nose, throat doctor. I was told I had post nasal drip that could be the cause. After I used a neti pot to clear my nose for weeks with saline, I still continued to have bad breath. I next tried eating different foods, I tried about 10 different diets from gluten free to vegetarian. Nothing worked.

I finally went to a GI doctor. After some testing I was diagnosed with H Pylori, a bacteria in my intestinal lining. It is very common. About half of the world has it!! I have been on a triple antibiotic treatment for it for 3 days now and my halitosis disappeared after the first day! It's a miracle. This could be the source of halitosis for most people and they aren't even aware of it. Yogurt, probiotics, mint, etc, are just temporary cover ups for a long term problem that needs serious treatment."

[YEA]  08/18/2011: Noel G. from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia writes: "I suffered from halitosis for 20 years. It is intermittent due to my sinusitis and post nasal drips. Everytime I have symptoms like asthma and cough I usually consult our employee health department, luckily Im working in government hospital I can easily get those medicines. However post nasal drips and halitosis persisted despite of antibiotics, this makes me frustrated. I started to research hydrogen peroxide with silver colloidal silver we used in the hospital to disinfect ICUs frequently touch items. We use this solution due to Acinotobacter baumanni which is hard to kill with other disinfectant. Our disinfectant is made in Belgium called Bioxeco. Furthermore I read alot of aricles that one sources of halitosis is due to anearobic bateria and H202 prevents the growth of it.

I dilluted the stock solution of 5%H2O2 with colloidal silver to 3% by (6ml of H202 solution 4 ml of distilled water = 3%).

Procedure to clean mouth with solution.

1, Brush teeth with branded toothpaste. Dont rinse.

2. Wash the toothbrush with tap water.

3. Pour 10 ml of 3% H2O2 (any volume will do) in cup.

3. Wet the toothbrush with H202 and start brushing teeth, palate of mouth and tongue for several minutes.

4. Use the remaining solution for rinsing.

My halitosis is gone after the brushing. I checked by licking the back of my hand and smell it. I dont smell anything unlike before it smells bad.

I also begun inhaling 3% H202 with colloidal silver for post nasal drips and sinusitis for 10 days now but post nasal drips did not stop. Furthermore I started drinking ACV using the recommended dosage published in this site for 4 days now and hoping to get a positive result after 2 weeks or more. I will soon update my situation.

Finally, I am so thankful for this site. It helps me alot and the anecdotal research is worthful to consider. I believe that some of the remedies may or may not work for others, but for sure those individuals that doesnt exerperience changes may have underlying serious conditions that must be given attention. Such as one person form Bangladesh having white patches in toungue. He must perform various serological procedures that may confirm his conditions. Maybe he can do his research by surfing ( white are the underlying disease with white patches on tongue)"

I have been off white sugar and white flour for 10 weeks now and the candida death caused my mouth to be infiltrated w/ bacteria and my breath was stomach wrenching. One wash w/ peroxide created such a foaming action from my throat all the way through to my teeth that I could not believe the die off of toxins... I'm talking like white golf balls of foam, scraped my tongue after, brushed and rinsed and may I say sweet breath ever since. Doing it again tonight!!!! Delighted. I'm trying many of the suggestions and am delighted by the pooled knowledge. This morning I woke up and almost passed out from the horrible breath that was coming from me - like something had died inside of me and then I'd ingested moth balls. Disgusting. I came here and then tried the diluted HO remedy. Had to do it three times to really see it working. The 3rd time I held it in my mouth for several minutes. I could feel it bubbling, and when I spit, there was a huge amount of bubbles in the sink. I tested my breath on my fiancé, and he said, "I don't know. It works so well I'm not sure I believe it. " Hah! Believe it, babe. I've been chewing gum with aspartame for years because of my fear of bad breath (I teach privately, one-on-one, and have been terrified of my breath). Now I can stop chewing that cancer-causing crap and stop wasting money on expensive "all natural" and ineffective products. Thank you, everyone!"

I always felt like the smell was coming from deep down in my stomach especially because I have very clean white teeth and gums. Almost instantly the smell went away just by gargling the peroxide. The only thing is that I do not dilute it in water."

[YEA]  04/28/2009: Jay-R from Cavite, Philippines writes: "I knew I had halitosis for so many years and God knows how much I have suffered because of this humiliating disease. I lost the girl I loved so much. I couldn't talk in front of people. I could sense based on people's reaction whenever I talk that my breath stinks as far as 10 feet away. I could hardly breath whenever I ride in a car with someone else because the malodor is there even if I don't talk (proof of my chronic condition - the odor comes not only from the mouth but from the nostril also). My job as an executive secretary involves a lot of talking to people, especially my bosses. Because of my stinking breath, I couldnt perform my job well, and the thought resigning has been hanging 'round my mind. I thought it's better to hide in the mountains where I can breath freely than to stay in the city where I feel I had no freedom to breathe.

I tried all kinds of toothpaste, mints, gums, mouthwashes, lemons, ginger, tea, water therapy, probiotics, dentist, EENT doctor, friends whom I knew had halitosis in the past, but nothing and no one was able to help. But thanks be to GOD, He led me to this site!!! Hydrogen Peroxide is His answer to my prayer for healing.

Knowing the severity of my condition, I started using HP 6% instead of 3% (1 tablespoon HP diluted with 5 tablespoon of water). My first time use was in the evening of April 24, 2009. I sensed how effective it was because the following morning, the foul odor is gone like magic! I intend to continue using it twice a day for a month, then will see if I can stop completely afterwards.

I can't thank you enough for this site. God has given me new life thru you. Thank YOU!! Thank GOD!!! "

05/20/2009: Alain from Ottawa, Canada replies: "Answer to Joanne from Jakarta "HOW TO DILUTE 20% PEROXIDE FOR MOUTH WASH?"

You can dilute it to make a 1.5% solution. 1 vol of H2O2 @ 20% 12 vol of Distilled water will make a solution at about 1.5% i.e. 20%/13.

Formula for ratio of concentrated H2O2 to distilled water to produce a new concentration:

ratio = (OldConc/NewConc) -1

Ex: 20% -->10% requires 1 vol of H2O2 to 1 vol of Distilled water ( 20%/10%) -1 = 2 -1 = 1..

Ex 35% --> 3% requires 1 vol of H2O2 to 11 vol of Distilled water (35% / 3%) -1 = 12-1 = 11."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  08/15/2008: Daneil from Chicago, IL writes: "Just to let people know that I got a condition known as hairy tongue about a year ago when I first started messing about with H202. If you are going to use it for a mouth wash, make sure that even the 3% Peroxide is diluted. At most, the ratio is supposed to be 1:5 in the water.

Anyway, I took it straight and it caused a horrible unsightly condition called hairy tongue which I have NOT been able to get rid of.
I have posted something on this site about six months ago - tried everything, salt water, h202 dilute, lemon water, brushing it with a scraper etc and NOTHING works.

I am not knowing Hydrogen Peroxide. I am sure it is good stuff and has its uses but don't use it as a mouthwash like I did without diluting it. Be careful when experimenting.

Take Care (and if anyone knows something that can help me, please let me know)

I did not know what caused the problem, and tried every oral hygiene method I could think of to remedy it, but to no avail. Everyone to include the doctors said it was because I had a dirty mouth. I have always prided myself on taking care of my dental needs so I knew a dirty mouth was not the problem. To make a long story short, through my persistent, I finally found a doctor who diagnosed the problem. The hairy tongue was caused by excessive yeast in my body. Just as excessive yeast can show up as a vaginal yeast infection, it can also show up as a hairy or white coated tongue in the mouth. [YEA]  06/14/2008: Cathy from London, England writes: "I have been suffering from bad breath for a few years now and had tried various different remedies, some worked, but mainly for a very short space of time, the bad breath always returning. I tried the HP and am very pleased to say my bad breath has COMPLETELY cleared up! I used 2 parts HP to 5 parts water of 3%, 10vol type (that is what is says on the bottle!). I gargle and rinse morning and night, for as long as I can stand, usually max 30 secs per mouthful, then spit out. I then rinse my mouth with salt water. I also wait the 15 mins before I drink or eat anything.

With other remedies and mouthwashes, they simply mask the problem, but with HP because it eliminates the actual bacteria, you then eliminate the bad breath. A big THANK you to this site for helping me in this way, I feel so much better all round. I would definately urge ANYONE with bad breath problems to give this a go.

Make sure to GENTLY shake your bottle before opening to keep peppermint oil evenly distributed, and keep your mouthwash in an opaque bottle (I use the same brown bottle purchased at the dollar store). [YEA]  10/01/2007: FR from NYC writes: "Hi, just wanted to share with you my cure for an infected gum -- hydrogen peroxide. Also wanted to respond to Subashini from Kuwait, because I may have an answer for her about the bad breath and oil pulling.

My story (I'll try to be brief)... got a piece of food stuck in the gum behind one of my front teeth. No matter what I did -- floss, oil pull, swish peroxide -- it didn't come out. I then went to a new dentist last week to have my teeth cleaned and the stuck particle removed. Lucky me -- the hygenist was just filling in for the day and during the teeth cleaning part, said she saw something dislodge but then "lost sight of it". Okay, fine, I thought. That night I awoke in the middle of the night with terrible bad breath. It was so bad it actually woke me up. Yes, I do have sensitive smell!! When I looked at the right front tooth the next day, I noticed that the gum was severely swollen, from the tooth to the roof of the mouth. The bad breath also persisted. I started my holistic regime of oil pulling, then later swishing with hydrogen peroxide. The oil pulling, like Subashini said, made my breath worse. YUCK! I tried swishing with sea salt. No luck. Finally I had the idea a couple of days ago to soak a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide and then hold it (tightly) to the swollen gum for 10 minutes. I also pinched another h202 soaked cotton ball to the back side of the tooth where the piece of food had initially lodged. Interestingly, it didn't hurt, but certain areas of the gum turned white. 10 minutes later the white had disappeared. Glad to say that my bad breath smell immediately disappeared and has not returned. My gum is looking a little better. A couple more days of this (soaked h202 2x a day) and I think I will be back to 100%. I highly suggest this technique if you have a tooth abcess or swollen gums from an infection. It is the best way for hydrogen to penetrate, otherwise it just turns to foam if you swish it around in your mouth.

So Subashini, I think your issue may be an infection somewhere in your gums that the oil pulling is bringing to the surface. Infection smells like dental plaque -- quite disgusting. My suggestion is to pull up your top lip (then pull down the bottom lip) in the mirror in daylight and look for redness in your gums. If you can pinpoint an area, then soak it with hydrogen peroxide cotton ball 2x a day for a day or two. I would predict that your issue of bad breath will immediately go away, even after you oil pull.

Oh, one more thing. You will need to bend over a sink whilst holding the cotton ball to your gums and let your saliva run out. You may need to do round 2 during the same session. Most importantly, you don't want to swallow anything! Rinse well afterwards. Hope this helps someone, somewhere. All My Best,"

It kills the bacteria in your mouth which the cause of bad breath. Also brightens your teeth a bit. I take a swig of 3%, swirl it around my mouth for a min or so, spit it out and wallah, breath is fresh."

This will help with all kinds of infections. It will help dotoxify the entire body. "

1-Do gargles with hydrogen peroxide. All the bacteria accumulated by years will be killed and your breath will be as fresh as it can be.

2-Do the same once a week or maybe once a month. If you still have any problem, that I doubt it, probiotics will be the solution for getting rid of bad breath if it is accompanied by body odor.

But the first step is the gargles."

But here's a remedy that no one may have thought - a treatment for "tinea cruris" commonly known as jock itch. I had an issue with this for several months and during this period, several times a week, I used Curex and other over-the-counter options to eliminate it, spending $20.00 to $30.00 to no avail. I knew hydrogen peroxide was effective in killing bacteria, so, as a last resort, I cut the pharamcy 3% grade 50%, just like the mouth wash, and used it-in 2 days!!! the itch and soreness was gone! No joke. Total cost 20 cents!"

He died one month after being diagnosed with the cancer. A few months ago I started dating a gentleman, who is a great guy but he had bad breath, he brushed and gargled Listerine which didn't help, but masked the bad breath for a few minutes. Since it was his breath, and not his personality that was bad, I bought a bottle of hydrogen peroxide for him to brush his teeth and tongue with and also gargle. The next time we went out the bad breath was gone and he said he can tell the difference. I don't know what he had or what happened scientifically but the hydrogen peroxide worked."

If you use this solution at night you will notice a lack of morning breath in the am.....The peroxide kills the bacteria that causes bad breath....last but not least...peroxide is cheap!!"
