It is available from fresh coconuts but also in cans and cartons. A friend of mine's infection spread to the kidneys and had to be referred to hospital as the antibiotics were not helping and she was in severe pain. 1 YEA

[YEA]  04/02/2007: Catheryn from Jonesboro, AR writes: "Although I had begun using VCO for other reasons, I realized after only two months that a chronic, "incurable" bladder condition that I had had for twenty-one years was much better. Then it seemed to just disappear. It has been over a year since any symptoms, and I don't expect any. My urologist was astonished."

[YEA]  09/10/2008: Veronica from Thousand Oaks, California writes: "I have been plagued by bladder infections since being married. I know they call it the "Honeymoon" infection because it is common to occur after intercourse. Doctors have always prescribed an antibiotic for my infections, but as soon as I stop taking the medication, the infection returns a few weeks later. I was researching natural remedies and found that cranberry pills keep the bacteria from adhering to the inside wall of the bladder. I like ____ because it has other soothing and healing ingredients like Buchu leaf, Pipissewa, Uvu Ursi leaf, Oregon grape root and Marshmallow root. I take this right after intercourse with a glass of water and I haven't had a bladder infection in almost 5 years. This is amazing because I was constantly on antibiotics year-round and was absolutely miserable. This has been a huge miracle not to be on antibiotics. I'm so glad that I found this remedy that I wanted to share this with anyone who also has been plagued by bladder infections. It's such an easy remedy... I can't believe it took me 10 years to come across it!"

[NAY]  07/22/2008: Robin from Ladera Ranch, CA writes: "I have had bladder infections for half my life and cranberries just don't cut it for me. I've tried the pills, tons of water, unsweetened cranberry juice, craisins (I know craisins have sugar but I've tried that too) and none of it works for me. I did a post on ACV working, I guess everyone is different."

[NAY]  06/04/2008: Tara from Jenkintown, PA writes: "I drank cranberry juice for weeks, and still wound up with a serious kidney infection. I guess it doesn't help everyone."

06/05/2008: Bret (patientadvocate2@yahoo.com) from Phoenix, Arizona replies: "Cranberry juice is not an antibiotic. It acidifies the urine which inhibits ecoli. Also, studies did show that e-coli bacteria cling to the sides of the bladder. Cranberry juice removes this adhesive property and the bacteria are more easily flushed away. Also, if you are drinking Ocean Spray or a Juice Cocktail, you are drinking very diluted stuff that is high in sugar. Frozen concentrate is your best bet, Cranberry tabs also are a great idea. I use these in my elderly patients who are incontinent and get frequestn UTI's. Cranberry is more preventative than curative. Bret"

[YEA]  02/08/2008: Chanana from Aubrey, TX writes: "I have had a handfull of bladder infections, and the minute I feel one come on I stock up on cranberry juice. I find that even when mixed with other juices, as long as it is primarily cranberry juice works well, you might just have to drink a little more of it. But it has worked for me every time."

[YEA]  11/08/2007: Vicky from Victoria, BC, Canada writes: "My doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine once prescribed real cranberry juice for a bladder infection. The stuff worked like a charm and faster than antibiotics. Apparently, there is an enzyme in cranberries that makes the lining of the bladder slippery so bacteria cannot grab on to it. Hence, they are just flushed out of the body. Real cranberry juice must be used, though, not the Cranberry Cocktail kind."

[YEA]  08/21/2007: Cheska from Dahab, Egypt writes: "If your cystitis/bladder infections are sex related try drinking a whole big bottle of mineral water after sex, this does mean you will be running to toilet all night but that is better then waking up in morning with that feeling of pissing razzor blades! It really helps me, the bacteria does not get a chance to get going as is being constantly flushed out. Also try to pee before and after sex. I also wash carefuly with a bottle of water with 15 drops of grapefruit seed extract in it to help steralise area. If you do develop an infection the next day take lots of cranberry tablets to try change your Ph levels as the bacteria cannot survive easily, lemon wedges or juice also help, stay well away from alchohol, sugar and anthing other then wearing lose cotton underware. Ensuring you get a good nights sleep aill boost your immune system and help fight any infection."

[YEA]  02/10/2007: Tina from Long Island, NY writes: "In the past couple years I have suffered through lots of uti infections. I was going back and fourth to the gyno and everytime the gyno gave me antibotics which would work but then my uti returns with in weeks to months again. The doctors couldnt figure out why I kept getting them. I decided on my own to remedy. I take cranberry pills everyday. Also everytime after I have intercouse I pee and make sure I clean myself and luckily I have not had a UTI in almost six months I am so happy. I think antibotics do not solve the problem I think they make the antibotics make them worse. I belive in natural healing not drugs!"

CRANBERRY JUICE

1 YEA

[YEA]  05/14/2008: Peggy from Erwin, Tennessee writes: "I don't get UTIs often but when I do I use cranberry juice. I drink at least 64 ounces a day until the infection is gone. It usually only lasts 2 days. 100% Pure cranberry juice is somewhat hard to find in my area but cranberry juice cocktail seems to work too. If you have UTIs often drinking a glass a day helps keep it in check."

[YEA]  10/30/2007: dave L from denver, colorado writes: "I just wanted to tell your site visitors about how I got rid of my urinary tract infection without taking antibiotics. I am male, 45 yrs old. I took D-mannose pills, 3 pills three times a day for a week and the buning at the tip of the penis persisted, even with drinking a lot of fluids, mostly water and cranberry juice.

I was discouraged because I had only a minor infection in the tip of the eurethra and yet I still couldn't get rid of it. BUT then I tried two teaspoons of 100% natural unbleached sea salt and started getting better immediately.( but it almost made me vomit ...I'm glad I held it down).

I also read at that time that baking soda or alka seltzer could reduce acidity in my system and that seemed to help keep symptoms from creeping back as well. I still think the sea salt which is also alkalizing, unlike regular salt, did the most good.(I also read that it replenishes lost salts and minerals that are unfortunatly washed away becuase of drinking some much fluid.) I kept up the D mannose as well until I felt fine for thee days or so (reducing the # of pills from 3 to 2 to 1 gradually)."

[YEA]  09/05/2007: Jake from Chicago, USA writes: "D-Mannose cured my urinary tract infection in one day, mostly overnight. I researched on the internet before I knew about earthclinic several months ago and found D-Mannose touted for UTI. My understanding was that it prevented bacteria from clinging to the wall of the bladder thereby helping the bacteria on its way out of your system, and in fact it worked like magic."

[YEA]  09/04/2007: Ami from Mountain View, California writes: "I saw a desparate help comment from Anonymous in Australia. I used D-Mannose from www.sweet-cures.com and it cured my long-standing bladder infection. I hope I can mention the specific brand, because I tried three other brands of D-Mannose before and they did nothing. D-Mannose from sweet-cures started working overnight. I was getting bladder infections repeatedly (every 2 weeks even after the antibiotic treatment) and finally, my Dr gave told me to take antibiotics every time I have sex, but I didn't want to do that and I started researching. I tried cranberry capsules and that didn't work, and I actually tried D-Mannose too (different brands - some had other herbs/vitamins in it, but I believe one brand was just D-Mannose), and that didn't work. I ordered D-Mannose from UK and that one worked practially over night! I was still starting to get the feeling in my bladder a couple of times even after D-Mannose got rid of it once, so when I felt the feeling, I took D-Mannose a couple of times in a row and it would go away. It's been about 3 years since I took D-Mannose last and I haven't had any bladder infections since. From what I know, D-mannose is a type of sugar - simple sugar - but it attaches to E.coli and Klebsiella."

[YEA]  07/23/2007: Tonya from Portland, USA writes: "I recently got a bladder infection that worsened a few days before leaving town for the week. I had been trying to cure it with cranberry juice & pills, lots of water, and accupressure. It only got worse, even though these remedies had worked in the past. Desperate, I went to my doc before leaving town and he prescribed antibiotics. I cried - I hate the stomach trouble and yeast infection that ALWAYS follow this treatment. I read your site the night before flying out and decided to give d-mannose a try since a friend once reccomended it. MIRACLE! The next day I felt much better (no more bladder/kidney pain) and within two days the burning sensation ceased. I don't know how I would have made it through my flight otherwise! It's now been 4 days and my infection is steadily improving and with much quicker results than I ever got with cranberry pills. If you've tried other natural remedies and they don't work, TRY D-MANNOSE!"
