Lemon Bicarbonate
Posted by Babs (Tarpon Springs, Florida) on 10/20/2015
Hello all. Yesterday I juiced a half lemon and added a small spoonful of Baking Soda to my filtered water. Started sipping it while doing other things. Noticed I started to feel agitated and hyper. Almost a jumpy feeling. Felt like I had Caffeine in me.
My daughter commented that I needed to calm down and I realized it was the drink. I had only consumed a small amount from the glass.
I was diagnosed with Mild Mitral and Tricuspid Regurgitation last year. I cannot consume any caffeine due to this. Has anyone had this happen to them or any advice regarding this? I am ok with ACV as I add it to my water sometimes or my smoothies with no problem. I will never again drink Baking Soda.

I also had a "caffeinated" reaction to the lemon juice and baking soda. I can't handle any amount of caffeine at all, my heart acts up and I feel a horrible sense of dread. My heart was "heavy" feeling and I felt panicky and apprehensive. My husband asked if I had ingested caffeine. I said no, but then realized that last night after taking the lemon juice and baking soda, I couldn't sleep for hours. This makes me sad because it made the pain in my leg, from what Im thinking is another DVT forming, go away in two hours.

I have been taking Unsulphured BSM in the last 2 weeks. Not keeping track of how much. May be more than 2 tbspoons per day. Something truly awful happened to me: I have a fecal incontinence while at a restaurant having a glass of wine (or 2). I did not really feel the urge to go to the bathroom. It happened and it shocked me and embarrassed me to death. Thank God no one noticed. My question is: would BSM and the iron in it have triggered something when combined with wine? I would also appreciate any advice. I am 61 and in a (very) good physical health. Please share your experience if this happened to anyone. Thank you very much and thank God for this site where I can ask such a question.

A warm Hello to Everyone! I am a full time student and heard so many good things about the benefit of Schizandra berry such as mental clarity, mental focus, sharpness and alertness. I bought it from a local Chinese store in my town and started taking it. Here is the funny parts: When I make a tea out of Schizendra berry and drink, I feel tired and need to go to sleep right away. If I take this berry at night, I can 13 or 14 hours of sleep. I wonder how people can take this instead of coffee in the morning. Thank, Sara

I've been taking FGHP for a little while now and have not had the results I would have like yet - but I have had an odd side effect.
I'm retired and normally go to bed about 11. 30, and wake about 8. 30. But now I wake at some ridiculous time, 5 or 6 am and today it was 4 am. I won't get out of bed then - particularly when it's cold and dark out - and so find I doze a little and am then up at 7. 30 or so. I have always needed my 8-9 hours a night but bizarrely, I am not feeling overly tired whereas before if I lost some sleep, I was washed out and fit for nothing.
Has anyone else had this? I've not noticed too much extra energy and my lungs are not clearing yet but I just find this odd.

I recently started using blackstrap mollases-acv and arginine for erectile dysfunction. Its been effective but have not been sleeping at all after taking these for about three weeks. Does anybody have any idea what may be the culprit. I hate to stop them all. Any input will be appreciated. God bless.

Can anyone explain why using sea salt as a mouth rinse has totally stripped my gums away. Where there was no issue before now I have some major gum recession going on, its not painful, just unsightly and a great concern. I'm stocking up on Vitamin C and eating well, but I'm nervous my only choice will be surgery. Any ideas?

★★★☆☆BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS
It has taken forever to come to learn that taking magnesium, regardless of what form, be it glycinate, gluconate, oxide, taurinate, etc. etc. will cause my mouth to burn and my tongue to swell. When I discontinue it, it takes a few days but it stops. It took me years to make this connection. Ted, could you possibly explain this? I would love to learn more about why this happens. For the record, I test high aldosterone/renin ratio and my bicarb is always significantly higher than chloride, though within normal range on tests. My understanding is aldo increases uptake of salt and calcium, my guess which stems from the aldo. Thought I would share the magnesium information as it pertains to me. I wish I would have read a review that would have got me to stop taking magnesium 5 years ago. Taking minerals without the whole group, ie a multi vitamin increases it potential for me also. Hope this helps someone clue in on the magnesium if they are regular uses for constipation, etc. Because that was why I started using it. I must say that I had debilitating menstral migraines and the magnesium stopped those, so double edge sword for me.

Just curious, are you taking a pharmaceutical grade of magnesium or something you bought from a "big box" department store? I've noticed some inferior grades of supplements use fillers (like sawdust). You might inquire about a quality offering at your local health store (local not big box like VValgr&&ns or WrongAide). I started out using a brand at one time available only to healthcare practitioners.

Hi, I'm 27 years old and suffer from chronic insomnia and severe TMJ. I recently stumbled upon this site in my desperate search for relief. I haven't had any success with medication and devices/appliances for either condition. I have had chronic insomnia for the 9 or more years. I've tried about 7 or so different medications, but nothing seems to work. Concerning the TMJ, it has roughly the same timeframe. It started out with tension in my jaw and popping in my ears, but in the last 14 months my jaw has started locking closed by the time I woke up in the morning. The first time this happened it unlocked on its own about 6 hours after waking. The second time it locked and stayed locked for 4 months without unlocking at all. My dentist and various other appliances, TENS treatments and anti-inflammatories were unable to help. Out of everything it was the TENS sessions that gave the most relief, but only temporarily. It has since unlocked, but I continue to wake every morning with my jaw locked for the first hour after waking. I wear a custom splint, made to mimic my jaw in its most relaxed position after TENSing (a 1,200$ piece of acrylic) and I take 20 mg of flexeril every night before bed. I believe that both the insomnia and the tmj are related and both heavily affected by stress. I recently stopped all of my sleeping medications and started taking baking soda in water 3 times a day along with niacinamide at bed time and transdermal magnesium therapy in the form of "oil". The problem is that I feel worse than ever. I am sleeping better(ish) but my jaw, face, neck, shoulders and temples are throbbing. My head is pounding and I feel dizzy and flu like. It's been for the last 4 days about the day after I started these alternative treatments. Is this a normal response? Perhaps Herxheimer Reaction or something. Should I push forward or is this something that I should bring to the attention of my doctor. Any insight would be appreciated. Ted please if you have any input it would be appreciated. Thanks and sorry for the long unorganized rant.

Hello! Ive struggled with insomnia and tmj in the past. I had to just experiment with different things to find what really worked. and sometimes something would stop working and id have to find something else.
1. have you tried magnesium? it comes in a powder version called natural calm that really works but any powder one that you put with hot water could knock out the tmj AND the insomnia.
2. if your up at night worrying try 5htp at night and GABA. Really helped me out.. this might help your jaw as well since in my experience mental stress really worsens my tmj and insomnia.
3. guided meditations centered on healing and the loving presence of the universe. this could help get to the root of the problem:)
4. Try taking B complex for stress management as well I felt an almost immediate difference.
5. Acupressure could be cool to look into as well. Ive had some interesting results with it!! Works immediately!
Ive found that the more I would stress about my insomnia or my tmj the worse it would get. A little acceptance can go a long way! Good luck! Email me if you have any questions!!

Also for insomnia, rubbing few drops of good quality 'blue chamomile' essential oil on your front and back solar plexus chakras, front and back navel chakras and at the bottom of your feet (middle area) helps fall asleep effortlessly and stay asleep through the night.
It is advisable for overall health to use therapeutic grade essential oils (NOT food grade).
Additionally, a product called Min-Tran (All natural food ingredients) made by Standard Process in the US (and found on amazon. Com) is a great way to balance the sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous system which aids in falling asleep. Unlike prescription sleep meds which badly affect the brain and in some cases damage the brain, Min-Tran does not effect the brain but works to calm down the nervous system.
Good luck, Tina

Here is an old Earth Clinic post, apparently, from an article written elsewhere!! To read it in full, check the Boron link that I posted yesterday.
"One forum contributor suffered with Fibromyalgia/Rosacea, chronic fatigue and TMJ for over 10 years which she believed were caused by fluoride. She used 1/8 tsp of borax and 1/8 tsp of sea salt in a litre of de-chlorinated water, and drank this for 5 days each week. Within two weeks her face cleared, the redness faded, body temperature normalized, energy level increased, and she steadily lost excess weight. The only side-effect was an initial aggravation of her Rosacea symptoms." --T.

Hi, I've suffered with a faulty digestive system for several years, and have had pockets of trapped flatulence which have been so bad that they have caused me to feel very dizzy and upset my balance. However, about five weeks ago I embarked on an alkaline diet, and virtually all my digestive problems disappeared. I do, however, suffer with osteoarthritis in my right knee and pain in my spine, so sent off to Purebulk for the hyaluronic acid powder to try Ted's recipe. This was a week ago. Even after the first dose it seemed to upset my stomach slightly. The rumblings were back, but I carried on with it. Yesterday morning, the flatulence and trapped wind were back with a vengeance, and if I hadn't been standing close to a worktop I would have fallen over. Is hyaluronic acid acidic? Could this be the reason why the digestive problems have returned?
Love to hear your views. Beryl
Cream of Tartar

I had a non-healing boil and started taking 1/4 tsp of powdered turmeric in a glass of water a couple of times a day for a couple of days. I have taken turmeric in the past without a problem. Today I tried cream of tartar instead (same dosing). After the second dose, eight hours apart, my stomach grumbled and I had bad racing heart, anxiety, and had runny stools. I think it was the cream of tartar and I was surprised because I didn't think it had much side effects (but I know things can affect people differently). I heard it is an "acid salt" and wonder if it is because I am a little sodium sensitive. The racing heart happens if I take baking soda alone too but is fine if I take it with apple cider vinegar or lemon/lime juice, maybe because the natural potassium balances the salt out? Anyways high anxiety is an uncomfortable feeling.

I was able to find some info on cream of tartar side effects. I was reading an old Ted post that said autistic and people high in candida already have high levels of tartaric acid and this can cause side effects. He recommended other forms of potassium. He said something about malic acid (apple cider vinegar) can be a kind of antidote to the side effects. Those high in tartaric may be low in malates.
I also read him in an old post of his that some people who are high in nitrates might have trouble taking higher doses of potassium. Ted said to stop eating processed meats, like processed meats (delimeats, hotdogs, etc) and that magnesium chloride or hydrochloric acid supplements may help.
I saw high nitrates in animals they treated them with intravenous injections of methylene blue

Rosemary, the H2O2 could be killing pathogens in big numbers causing what's called "dieoff". Or the H2O2 could be reacting w/ an heavy metal or aldehyde of which it cannot properly detox causing a cascade of harmful free radicals. Stop the H2O2 and take 4 caps Activated Charcoal or Bentonite Clay before retiring for 7 days, then try the H2O2 again. Vit-C w/ Bioflavonoids during the day would also help. It is also important that your body is properly alkalized for the H2O2 to function properly. Much info on alkalizing and "dieoff" or "herx" here on E.C.

Co q10 is something the body makes by itself the only reason to supplement is if he has a deficiency of it. It is recommended that a person take a coq10 sup with a statin because statins deplete q10. If he is not taking statins I would check to make sure if he has enough already and stop the pills.

Help! As per many of your suggestions I tried the 3% HP as a mouthwash/teeth whitener but unfortunately even though by the sounds of it, it seems to have helped many with gum problems, since using it my gums on the bottom teeth have receded considerably to expose an unattractive brownish colour. What to do? I have tried the niacin, vit C and CQ10 combo for 2 months now but that has not helped at all. I realise we're all different but I'm at a loss to explain why I've had such bad luck with HP when clearly it works wonders for others.

I recommend using HP for dental use no more than MAX 1x every other day (pref 2-3x a week) for this reason. My dad lost 3 teeth using HP too often in his waterpik, and my mom got receding gums because (according to her) her dentist told her to use it 3-4x a day.
You can have too much of a good thing. Once its finished oxidizing the baddies, it starts oxidizing good tissue and you don't want that.

Hi Meredith, Try testing your saliva's pH level (using testing method from "The Acid-Alkaline Diet" by Christopher Vasey, N. D. ). If it is highly acidic in your mouth, it may be too acidic to heal your gums. If I recall correctly, hydrogen peroxide is acidic, and I recall reading one dentist's recommendation that the gums would heal quicker in mouth closer to alkaline. Don't quote me on that! You'll have to search around yourself. I'm assisting my husband at the moment with his receding gum line. He recently bought a WaterPik and is using it every day. I'm trying to get him to slow down and take his recovery in stages, acclimating his body, avoiding a Herxheimer or healing crisis if he does too much.
In your shoes, I would test my saliva first, and start rinsing or gargling with diluted baking soda after brushing. We avoid fluoride toothpaste, and now are avoiding glycerin in oral care products, and moderately supplementing minerals for oral health, and easing into a new nutritional program, among other things.

Dear Earth Clinic, I would really appreciate it if you could answer my question. I started taking 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide diluted in distilled water a month ago to heal my candida problems. The protocol that I used was by Dr David G. Williams starting with 3 drops 3 times a day, increasing the dose with one drop each day. I have already reached 20 drops 3 times a day but I had to drop it back because I felt sick.
After a few days taking it I experienced a number of side effects (diarrhea, nausea) but the most worrying one is having a severe heartburn that I have never had before in my entire life. My tongue has had a white coating on it for years now because of the Candida infection but I cured it well gargling with 3% H2O2. After experiencing heartburn the white-greyish coating returned on my tongue even though I still gargle with it. But now I cannot get rid of it. My mouth tastes sour all the time and my heartburn is pretty bad. I am a little worried taking it so I stopped using it.
What am I supposed to do? Is it only healing crisis or my body just can't take H2O2? Should I continue taking it? Is it the right dosage? Thank you so much, Regards, Eszter from Hungary

Eszter, If you have severe Candida it is almost certain you have some toxic aldehydes (a byproduct of fungal metabolism/fermentation) present in the body. This could explain the side effects of H2O2 therapy. In this event take 500mg Niacinamide 3x and 500mcg 1x Molybdem daily for 1 week then try the H2O2 again.
If you still have bad effects from H2O2 then it is advised to switch to a different form of oxygen for oral consumption. This other supplement is Stabilized Oxygen / Sodium Chlorite (NAClO2). I use 10-15 drops daily to increase my depleted O levels w/ good results (more energy).

I like your suggestion on stabilized oxygen and want to try. I have candida and bad reactions to H2O2 such as severe sleepiness, weakness, redness of the face, nausea. I almost starved on it because felt like my food was not moving through even 6 hrs apart from taking it. I ened up taking it in am and eating only late afternoon. Eventually had to stop. It cleared my eyes redness and I lost weight on it.
I want to try that liquid oxygen. Do you take it on empty stomach apart from meals? Have you seen in yourself any reactions to that?
Thanks for the recommendations.

Kk from Seattle, start off w/ not more than 5 drops 2 hrs following meals. The after meal theory supposedly reduces acidity while boosting oxygen. There are several brands w/ varying potencies so just follow labeled recommendation would be best. Also be sure to supplement Niacin and Molybdum so as to avoid aldehyde toxicity and the cascading oxidation that can happen w/ especially H2O2 therapy.

Kk, sorry I didn't mention any adverse effects from Stabilized Oxygen (but then again I didn't have adverse effects from H2O2 either despite a plethora of health problems). After reading about the aldehyde connection w/ yeast or fungus, I began using MolyB and NAD w/ very noticeable improvements. Supplementing Zinc/Vit-A is also recommended as they are critical to immune health as well as gastrointestinal integrity. Challenge your fear and gain confidence with the "start low and go slow" method/motto for supplementation.

Kk, if you have had a Candida infection for any length of time it is likely you also have some aldehyde toxicity. About two months ago I suspected this was one of my problems, supplemented NAD and MolyB (already use Z&A) and experienced detox for about 5 days. Aldehyde could be causing the reaction to the H2O2 so go ahead and start w/ an aldehyde detox for about 1 week, then start the Stabilized Oxy at 2 drops for starters in between meals and work your way up to not more than 10 drops 2x daily. Limit sugars and use lots of Garlic, Oregano, and Cinnamon to help kill the nasty Candida. Give us an update on your progress.

I remember getting severe flashes in the face with long lasting redness on H2O2. The higher the dose of H2O2 I was getting the longer the flash would last.
I see that Niacin can cause flashes too. Could you please explain how does it work that niacin/molybden counteract some side effects of H2O2, like flashing.
Is there any reference to look this up. Did you figure out this yourself?

Niacinamide is a flush free form of niacin. If you do have Fluke infestation then you may also have some type of bacterial infection as bacteria are waste products of Flat & Round worms. This connection explains why I experienced pronounced releif while using Uva Ursi or Cranberry, among other herbs. Here is a link to the Candida - Aldehyde connection.

★★★☆☆BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS
Hi, I was wondering if anyone else experienced severe stomach pain (followed by diarrhea and vomiting), sore throat and fatigue after drinking fresh beetroot juice? I've always loved beetroot, but only had it cooked or pickled before. Now I used some fresh organic beetroot twice in my juice of celery and carrots, and in both cases I got this bad reaction (nevertheless, I got immediate relief from my neuralgia pain). I've never heard of allergic reaction to beetroot, so am wondering what went wrong. I should say I take "B" vitamins, magnesium and Omega3 supplements 2-3 times a day plus collagen in the evening... maybe the beetroot doesn't go well with all the vitamins? Maybe I used too much of it for my body to take (I used one middle-sized beetroot)? Thank you for your replies.

Hi Oldriska. I agree - start with less and build up. Also google mini beet protocol and that suggests eating an apple after to stop nausea, vomiting etc. I have been juicing beets for 6 weeks and initially felt quite sick if I didn't eat an apple afterwards but now can go without and juice a cup of beetroot and some carrots. I haven't followed exactly the Mbp as asparagus and fennel are too expensive. Interesting as the taste of the beets have changed over the time and are now quite sweet and nice tasting. Build up slowly. All the best.

... The liver being the body's cleaning camp can get overwhelmed w/ waste so the beet purges the waste out and causes sickness as it reenters the bloodstream by way of the gut (theoretically). Prior to cleanse take a spoonful of bentonite clay or a couple caps charcoal. I would follow w/ either some garlic or oregano in case of infections.
