Hello All,

I've been drinking 1-2 tsp. of organic ACV in a 16 oz. bottle of water everyday for 3 months now and I have not lost any weight. I exercise 5-6 days a week (run/walk 3 miles a day) and I've been watching my food intake using a food journal. I have lost inches from the exercise but my weight has stayed the same so far. I will continue to drink the ACV and water because of the many health benefits associated with it. Unfortunately weight loss has not been one of those benefits for me.

You should keep in mind that just because you are not losing pounds does not mean that the treatment is not effective. Muscle weighs more than fat, so your body type and the type of exercise you are taking part in will determine wether you will lose pounds or not. I am a firm believer in not judging your success by the scale, as to how different your clothing fits. I have had success with ACV for weight loss, combine it with a great exercise regimine.

I agree with Melissa. I have often heard of women complaining that they exercise often and only gain weight. The problem is we are told we should weigh a certain amount, but muscle weighs 3 times more than fat. We should be basing our health on the amount of fat in our bodies. If you are losing inches it is because you are losing the fat and gaining muscle. TV shows like biggest loser base their winners on how much they weigh only because the people on it are so overweight that no amount of muscle will make them weigh 400 lbs again. Please understand that being healthy does NOT tie directly to the "perfect" weight, no matter who told you what it is. It ties to eating right, exercising, and making sure that you have a healthy ratio of fat in your body.

I'm changing my Nay to Yea! Since starting the ACV July 2009, I have lost a total of 16.5 lbs. to date! I do not crave sweets and I have alot more energy. I am eating smaller portions as well. Those of you trying this for weight loss don't give up...stick with it. There are so many other positive benefits to ACV anyway so drink it anyway!

I was a very bad case of seborrheic dermatitis on my face and chest, a condition that last 15 years or more. Doctors prescibed creams with cortisol, that worked but worsen the condition with time. I was desperate and hopeless because I refused to continue with this kind of treatment. I found a group that where treating this with Apple cider vinegar. For the first time in my life my condition was cured, It was like a miracle, My face looks better than ever, the more I do the treatment. Today I stumble in this site and found out the weight loss treatment with ACV, could it be possible that this also cures my overweight condition? Could ACV be as powerful in my stomach than in my face? I am going to start today!! I already accepted myself like I am right now, which is like the firt step toward recovery, I am so happy to have stumble in this site because I know ACV works.

RE: losing inches, not pounds. In my younger years, when l was not exercising, l weighed 98 lbs and wore a size 7 jp. When l started jogging 3 mi every other day, after 3 months, l weighed 115 lbs and wore a size 3 jr petite. Muscle is so dense that it takes up very little room, even tho you weigh more. I am 5' tall so 115 should have made me look big, but l was accused of being "too thin" even tho l had gained almost 20 lbs.

I was sooo elated, to find out that ACV is great for natural weight loss. I started taking it about 1 week ago. I actually love the taste of it and have been taking 1 tablespoon full, straight, undiluted, 2 -3 times per day. I normally drink some water after each "serving" of ACV, rather than make the drink with Black Strap Molasses or Grade B Maple syrup. I haven't taken any measurements yet, to see if I've lost inches yet, but am hoping to rid myself of a very, bloated belly. Is this harmful?

It is not healthy to drink Apple Cider Vinegar straight without diluting it as it can ruin your teeth. To see how dangerous try this experiment, pour vineger mixed with water into a kettle up to height of scale and leave overnight and then check the following day and see how sparkling clean your kettle is, all the scale has gone... This is exactly what can happen to your teeth, the enamel wears off with constant use of acv... so best to drink the Apple Cider Vinegar with a straw and then rinse mouth with water for safety.

I've read that white vinegar is acid-forming which is bad for the body, whereas raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar should be alkalizing, which is what you want...

I could not stand the discomfort and went out to buy over the counter med. but my ? is did the acv cause the yeast infection and if I continue to us the acv will the yeast infection stay.help I really would like to stay on acv cuz I need to lose some lbs.and in just 6 days I felt better even got less moody :)

When I first started using ACV I followed the recommended recipe and it was too much. I got a yeast infection and stopped drinking it until it went away. Once it was gone I decreased the amount of ACV to one to two tsp in a bottle or glass of water. The yeast infection didn't come back so you should be ok.

interesting... Dr. Weil in earlier notes dismissed the apple cider vinegar fad... today, he posted this...A reminder to all who know something is helping but are discouraged by the experts..keep your strength. (but what I do like about him, ..he is quick to admit he was wrong)

Vinegar May Combat Fat

Maybe the vinegar effect isn't just an old-wives tale. New research from Japan is lending credence to the age-old notion that vinegar can help reduce fat. Investigators put laboratory mice on a high-fat diet and fed them acetic acid, the main component of vinegar. They put another group of mice on the same diet but gave them water. The mice in both groups gained weight but those on the vinegar "diet" put on significantly less body fat (up to 10 percent less) than the other mice. The acetic acid may work by turning on genes for fatty acid oxidation enzymes. These genes produce proteins that can break down fats and therefore suppress body fat accumulation. Research elsewhere indicates that acetic acid also may help control blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Does this mean a vinegar diet will help humans lose weight or prevent them from gaining? That's for another study to determine, but you could try dressing your salads with vinegar and olive oil to see if it helps. The Japanese study was published in the July 8, 2009, issue of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

Hi, All. Thanks for all the great tips on ACV and weight loss. Three days ago I started drinking 2 TBLS of Whole Foods Organic unfiltered ACV with 10 oz of hot water and a bit of honey. It tastes great! So far, I haven't noticed any difference in my appetite or cravings, but it's still early. I have a question -- what is "mother" ??? I've seen multiple posts referring to mother / ACV and haven't a clue what what this "mother" reference is! Can anyone shed some light? Thanks, in advance.

I copied this info from an article online....

The mother is the dark, cloudy substance in the ACV - formed from naturally occurring pectin (fiber) and apple residues - it appears as molecules of protein connected in strand like chains. The presence of the mother shows that the best part of the apple has not been destroyed. Vinegars containing the mother contain enzymes and minerals that other vinegars may not contain due to over processing, filtration and overheating. ACV ranges in color from a light golden to orange. You'll know you've found natural ACV if you see sediment, referred to as the "mother" on the bottom of the bottle. The bottle should be shaken prior to use.

The baking soda is the opposite effect once it's in your body as I understand. So it's invalidating the ACV-cancelling one another out.

Ive just started taking 2 teaspoons in a glass of water, every morning & evening. The benefit to me for an arthritic toe and to assist with weight loss. My husband has also just started taking it for a heitus hernia(similar symptons to acid reflux). Neither of us are in a position where we can sip the drink throughout the day so we just drink in down. Is this ok? The next comment would be that we then have a drink,we finish our tea or have a drink of gratefruit or coke. Are these taking away the benefits or is it ok to continue along these lines?

Thanks

Hi I have a quick question.. Hopefully some one will have an answer. :o)

Today I bought Organic ACV, I had no idea what the mother was... I thought it was a specific brand of ACV. However at the store there was only one brand, so I picked it up.. When I got home I actually read the label of the ACV I bought. "The mother" is the microrganisim living inside the Vinegar itself. It looks like a little string of snot in side the bottle. Which to me is very amusing.. This snot string will some how make my hair grow thicker, cure a yeast infection, help me loose weight, help dissovle kidney stones, and if applied to a wart remove it..LOL I dont have all those ailments just most of them..LOL

So here is my question, I want to keep my Mother alive, Should I refridgerate my vinegar??

Thanx,
Lara

I may try this once my bottle gets nearly finished. Would at least get some of the properties of whatever is "living" in the vinegar.

Hi Chris, I am having the same issues you are! love drinking apple vinegar, but it doesn't help me loose weight. The one time I successfully lost weight is when I did a low fat, low sugar, low carb diet. Basically I only ate easily digestible food like salad, grilled chicken, fish, hummus. I lost about 10 pounds in 2 months. I am trying to get back to that same diet again, but the wheat products kill it for me. One sandwich on whole wheat bread and I have put on an instant 2 pounds. To All you Nays, I think most of you women are too critical and are obsessing on what the scale is saying to you. A 3 lb weight gain is usually due to water and not actual fat gain. Also if you are working out consistently you may not notice weight loss right away as muscle is heavier than fat, stay off the scale and start measuring yourself on a weekly basis. I think the results will be more gratifying and please don't give too much concern with the scale, try weighing in once a month, if you must. I hope this helps and remember, beauty comes from the inside.

I started drinking ACV about one month ago. I lost 10 lbs due to a combination of things I was taking and I am a small person with around 10 lbs to lose. I think the people that are drinking ACV but aren't losing weight is because they're counting on ACV to be the miracle diet drug. Well it's not. You can't lose weight if you're eating food loaded with sugar, corn syrup, fat and white flour processed foods. You have got to be good to yourself and eat a ton of veggies and fruits and cut out the carbs and sugar and hydrogenated vegetable oils. If you are diligent and disciplined and eat what you're supposed to eat you will lose weight with or without ACV although ACV is pretty healthy for you so I can't imagine not ever taking it on a daily basis.

Just read about your attempt to loose weight using ACV. Do NOT use ACV from any plain supermarket. ONLY use ACV purchased from a health food store. It has to be ACV with the "mother" in it. You'll see the "mother" because it is the sedament at the bottom of the bottle. A boss years ago was enormous and went on the ACV diet. He used to drink it by the glassfulls, which I don't think now is the way to do it but, he got slim and gorgeous. Good luck.

Same deal, ACV always increases the candida on my tongue. Everyone was going nuts about it, but even the smallest bit on my salads would cause my tongue to get the candida spots--so I suspect that's what behind the yeast infections.

I agree wholeheartedly. Those who cannot lose weight might have a candida problem. I did. Candida blossoms with ACV, especially a lot of it. It can also affect the thyroid; so please pay attention to EC's updated amounts for taking ACV. I found less IS better. I got more yeasty and thyroid lumpy with 2 or more tablsp. Of ACV until I stopped taking it and controlled both with VCO. I used VCO as a suppository and took 1 tspoon, twice daily for a week. Afterwards, I went back on ACV but cut back to 1 tspoon, twice daily. Overnight, I lost 1/2 lb. Stop drinking sodas (diet as well), large quantities of ACV, and eating bread and all may find that yeast dies down and they are able to lose weight. Too much ACV, bread, and sugar in any form, feeds yeast - hinders weight loss.

I learned years back to loose weight one needs to heat lipton tea with 1 tbsp honey and 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar for breakfast before eating anything. Again two or three times a day. From what I remember if you did more vinegar it doesnt help as you only need a total of 3 tsp or tbsps can't remember....
