I have a 2 year old Pitbull who has had swollen lymphnodes for about 4 months. She goes to the vet regularily for this and still we are not able to find the root of the problem. It is not limited to one place on her body - swollen in her neck, cheast, legs with her neck and cheast area being the largest. Her face also swells & about 2 months ago she had a large abcess on her face that was drained, we thought that was the cause of the lymphnode swelling, but even after that was healed she is still swollen & clearly not still not feeling well. We have done blood tests and lymphnode aspirations which both came back inconclusive for lymphoma- basically "suspicious" cells in both, not able to say yes or no at this point. Her white blood cell count was double what it should be which tells us this is some sort of infection she is fighting off. Antibiotics work and the swelling goes down for a week or two & then comes back. Has anyone ever seen this problem or know of anything I can do to help her? I will take any feedback at this point, just want to get her better!
My 5 year old golden retriever is a mystery. He has been tested for Lymphoma, fungal infections, tick-borne illnesses etc. In October 2010 I took him in for a weepy eye, he rolled over and there was a large lump in his groin. After tests came back inconclusive, we had the lump removed and all tests came back negative. "Maybe a suture left in from the doctor who neutered him since the lump was wrapped around the sperm ducts, " the vet said. Poor recovery from the surgery, fevers, loss of appetite, wasting and then end of November, enlarged lymph nodes in neck. Took him to the Energ vet and Internal med doc and for two days he was tested and IVs. $$$$$$ Possible fungal or systemic bacteria. Brought him home and would not eat or drink at all. Took him off Tramadol and Clavamox and kept him on fluconozole and resumed Rimadyl till he started eating (the trick was cat food) mixed in the rice and chicken concoction. Then there were about 7 lymph nodes under the jaw and in the neck. Started coughing a lot and then took him in for chest xray and he his lungs showed clear but many large lymph nodes. Eating well, stool and urine normal. Found out neither vet had done fungal titers. Just got word today all fungal titers (including Valley fever) came back negative. Breathing is labored and rapid. More comfortable lying on right side. I think he may have left-sided heart failure. Any ideas?
I have been losing so many of my loving pets from so many illnesses and bad conventional drugs... I have one dog here that is actually 80 years old in peoples age. A few months ago she went down/ for what I felt was her last time here on earth.. I carried her to and from the outside to do her duties...& continued to do so for at least a month...in the meantime I was giving her an excellent natural herb/ Oil of oregano/great name brand by Gaia. Thick white mucus was coming out of both ends, it was then she got up & started walking again. She still has a large amount of congestion, but I now understand it that it's a defense against any serious diseases further entering her body....Here is some more great information for sick dogs..Most illnesses come from dogs/cats food...This site is very informative.. Good Luck.... http://www.three-little-pitties.com/dog-mucus.html
Recently all dogs in my area came down with a disease that caused vomiting, diarrhea, & a general state of poor health. Them dogs were very sick, including our two family members. The Neighbor to our west had his Yorkie hospitalized, on IV. Nearly lost her. Our Neighbor to the North had two very sick mini dauschhunds. One of the weenie weenies also had to be hospitalized. The local Vets, who are great but expensive, had no idea what disease this is. There is no vaccine for it. Since we all have pastures irrigated with river water it was guessed that the sickness either came from the soil or irrigation water. My husband & I could not afford Vet when this happened. It looked dismal for our beloved Aussie Twister, and Taboo, a black chow-rot-lab mix! Then I found this site and a plain pumpkin cure. I bought plain canned pumpkin with no additives, and applied the can opener. Directions seemed to be 1 tablespoon per 50lbs body weight. Both of my dogs are over 50 lbs, so I planned on 2 tablespoons each. I pulled the spoon out of the can heaped with pumpkin. Twister grabbed it before I offered. In fact it was testy to get some to Taboo, cuz Twister wanted the whole can. They both felt better within an hour, and later that day had NORMAL stools! I gave them 3 doses of 2 tablespoons pumpkin each day for 5 days. YAY! WOOF! Woof, woof, woof! From Taboo, & Twister too! Many Thanx from our happy, healthy Doggin's!!!
About three weeks ago my little dog Toby vomited blood twice and I watched him very close over the weekend and then took him to the vet on Monday. Upon being examined the vet determined him to be healthy and gave me medication to help decrease fluid that he may be retaining.
Well I have not seen any real benefit from the medication, he urinates no more than normal. His breathing is rapid and he doesn't seem to be sleeping and every so often he jumps like he's in pain and then he will get up and lay next to me. I am scared he may have cancer or something and I wanted to know if anyone out there could give me feedback. I stopped feeding him Ultam dry dog food in Febuary and he is now on a mixture of cooked chicken livers, sweet potatoe, green beens, carrots that is blended. He is still eating and drinking yet very low energy level. Please I need some feedback and I love this website it has so much good information on it I need someone to help me and is there a test that a vet can do to see if he has cancer? Marilyn in MN

I have a female cat about 7 years old she has always been a well cat but the last 3 months she has lost so much weight she looks like a waif and has been throwing up a fair bit. Can anyone suggest what I can try.
I have a maltese poodle mix that is 11 months old that has been having skin problems for about 9 months now. He gets sores that become thick layers of scabs on his back, his eyes and top of his nose get really red and has yellowish, brownish scabs around them, and he also gets these on his paws. He constantly licks his paws, scratches himself, and rubs his face on the floor. He has bad odor when it gets really bad, but his ears always smell. He lost a lot of his fur at one point on his back.
I took him to the vet and they told me that he has food allergies, so I switched him to Natural Balance Duck and Potato food. They have put him on two different kinds of antibiotics, an ointment for his eyes, and eye drops. It starts to get better but once he is off the antibiotics he starts again. I don't know what is causing this to him. Please help.
Hi.. On May 8, 2011 my 5 dogs received their vaccinations including the Rabies vaccine. My Red Tick, Spotsy, who is about 1 1/2 years old, started uncontrollably urinating in the house yesterday. This has never been a problem with her before, and she acts like she doesn't know that she did it. She has no other symptoms or reactions at the injection site. She received Univac 7 and Rabvac 3. The only other change that happened recently is that when I went to get dog food, their regular brand was gone so I bought Pedigree for them. I wondered if anyone else has had this experience, and would appreciate any suggestions as to whether it would be more likely caused by the vaccines or the dog food, and of course, any remedy recommendations. I am going to get her regular dog food today, but not much I can do about the vaccines. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Hi Ted, I have 4 dogs, a staffordshire terrier, chihuahua, and two blue nose American bullies. One of my bullies is a large breed male, Tyson, he seems to be looking skinny lately and I have even boosted up his food intake, my chihuahua seems to be losing weight also, its really odd. My other 2 dogs seem to be fine, everyone is eating fine, drinking fine, playing together and everything. What could this mean? I havent detected any worms, Tyson is being treated for ear infections... (he gets them alot and I have been using ACV, its working and all. I have also been putting a capful or two in their water. Tyson has had alot of problems (demodex), but the parasite hasnt shown back up. I dont know what to do. Layla is the other bully and she was just mated (show dog, very expensive girl!) I do not want anything to happen to any of my babies.. please give me some insight on this situation. Thank you, Jennifer
Hi - I believe my dog was bitten by a brown recluse spider. She has the volcanic lesion in her digit (back paw). I saw remedies for humans - not sure what I can use on the dog and an open wound. For example, should I put the baking soda paste on an open wound? Should I use the echnicea oil on the open wound? Which is better? Should I combine?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, the Vet "thinks" the wound was caused by a spider bite but is it possible that the problem could be from something else like a flesh eating virus (in a dog). My dog is on antibiotics now and pain meds.
Finanlly, what book(s) could I get to help educate me? I am having a really hard time trying to find information especially for my dog and experienced Vets with this type of bite.
Thank You, Robin
Hi! I hope you can reply regarding my problem asap. I have a persian kitten (5mnths old). She stopped eating, drinking, pee and poo last wk (friday). I forced to feed her but no luck. She vomits white saliva and then yellowish. The following day (sat) she was admited at the vet clinic. They put iv fluids and given her antibiotics. That night she had her poo. But the following morning (sun) she had bloody stools and had seizures twice. She can't stand anymore and was very pale! I had been crying since then. Monday morning she responded to my voice, she can sit already and no bloody stools. Tuesday, she's looking better and can walk already, the vet told me as soon as she starts to eat I can take her home.
Sadly this afternoon when I visited her she looked pale again and quite weak. But she had a bloody stool again.. I don't know what to do! Now her two siblings are already sick just like what she have! I gave them water through syringe but they vomit it! I don't know what to do.. What kind of disease they have? They started to get sick last night at 10pm. Its only 4am now and theres no clinic, I need to wait til 8am!! Oh pls somebody help my kitties! I don't wanna lose them.. :(

He ate all his dinner, but not acting right, will not drink- have been on computer searching for info hoping someone can help us.
