I'm surprised not to see Lysine as a remedy for Kennel Cough which is essentially a virus picked up by dogs whether they have been in contact with other dogs or not.

I took my 3 yr old Doberman mix to Longview Lake Park which is just 2 min from where we live. I take him there several times per month and there are rarely any other dogs out there when we go and last night there were no other dogs there.

When we got in the car to start driving home my boy Doberman mix began licking the air incessantly and couldn't stop. I thought he was going to throw up so I drove home as quick as I could. When he got out of the car, he immediately started eating grass. I let him in the backyard where there was plenty of water and grass.

30 min later he wanted in and he was hacking as if something was caught in his throat. He was still doing some licking in the air. I offered him some chicken jerky treats that I buy at Walmart and I offered him the one that has cassava root in it, which he rarely eats and he ate 5 of the Chicken jerky treats.

Then he proceeded to drink water over and over again and cough and gulp the air as if something was in his throat for 2 hours. I finally realized he had all the signs and symptoms of what vets call Kennel Cough.

I did a google search and found a thread from 2012 where Ted replied to a person in Chiang Rai that had a kennel with lots of dogs that often had Kennel Cough or Flu in Dogs and Ted recommended Lysine along with a couple of other things.

The only thing I had on hand was powdered Lysine that I buy direct through Bulk Supplements (don't buy through Amazon as I've received fraudulent supps from them 3 x's earlier this year and Bulk Supp Magnesium Oxide was one of them).

I put a 1/4 of a teaspoon in the palm of my left hand and pried his mouth open and slapped it on his tongue and shut his mouth down so he didn't inhale it. He was considerably better, but was still going for the water bowl which isn't like him.

So about 15 minutes later, I double downed with another 1/4 of a teaspoon of Lysine. That did the trick!

No more licking, gulping air, hacking/coughing or appearing as if something was stuck in his throat and he stopped going to the water bowl.

He went to lay down in his bed after that. It is now the next morning and he is right as rain. Thank you Ted and Earth Clinic.
