When I noticed my feline companion had a case of mange a few days ago, I went into action. I had no tea tree oil (which was my first choice) but I did have eucalyptus oil. I wet a cloth, not quite dripping, and added a dozen drops of eucalyptus oil, then rubbed it on the scabbed bare patch at base of tail, and on the tail which she had started chewing at. About an hour later I noticed an improvement. And by the next morning, she had completely stopped scratching, and started eating and sleeping better. This is the second time I have treated a cat this way - with no problems. I also hear Neem oil is good too. According to the National Library of Medicine site: "Essential oils, especially tea tree, clove, palmarosa, and eucalyptus oils, are potential complementary or alternative products to treat S. scabiei infections in humans or animals, as well as to control the mites in the environment."
