I was looking on your site a couple days ago and saw a remedy with honey to help lose weight. I tried it and found that i had more energy during the day, had less of an appetite, and fell asleep faster at night!! i love it! the remedy i found was every morning, a half hour before breakfast, as well as right before bed at night, drink a tablespoon of honey in one cup of boiling water with a teaspoon of cinnamon. It has only been four days, but man, what a difference!!

My cholesterol was above normal my Dr put me on Lipitor causing memory issues. So I decided to to stop taking it and eat oatmeal and cinnamon because I had researched natural remedies and this is what I found could lower it. It worked. My cholesterol is still borderline but my HDL and triglecirides are good so my Dr is happy with my results. I have add apple cider vinegar to regimen. Hope everyone has my success. Thank you for your website.

Fungus

I had read somewhere that fungus could not grow in the presence of cinnamon oil (found in any aromatherapy store), so instead of going to the doctor for an expensive and harmful prescription I decided to try it. I applied it to the cuticle of my nail morning and night and the nail grew out perfectly healthy. My mom had the same problem and when she saw my results she decided to try it too and got the same results.

Diabetes

My nine year old daughter was found to have full blown diabetes 2 on May 10, 2006 and I was notified. Her readings were 118 and 117 on the 11th and on May 12th, the morning it was 122 but I began the ACV and cinnamon near lunch time and dinner. I am so excited as the research seems true. The night time reading May 12, 2006 was only 93. Yes, I know it is far too soon to feel secure but with all the other info on Earth Clinic and other places I am hoping this is the real deal, so to speak. This is what I did: 2 TBLS _______s raw, unfiltered w/ mother ACV mixed with 4-6oz of water or tea etc, and 1 tsp of cinnamon picked up with small pieces of apple for my child to eat. Both the ACV and Cinnamon have proven track records for this so I cannot even tell you which was better!!

Hello Rocky. I currently take cinnamon myself & have been quite a while now. You should look preferably for an organic cinnamon product. There are many to choose from but make sure you do get organic. Google cinnamon research & its many health benefits.

I have also gotten my mother on it for her diabetes which this substance is known for helping treat. I take 1/2 tsp twice daily with a little water or olive oil. You can take it with or without food but I take it right after meals. Good luck & God Bless!

Hypoglycemia

WARNING!

Hey ya'll, I've been battling hypoglycemia lately and I've found some great stuff here on EC. So thanks to everyone for posting and special thanks to Ted for all of his input.

I did want to point out, however, that if you are dealing with hypoglycemia, be careful of taking too much cinammon. Most of the blood sugar supplements out there are for diabetics and the emphasis is on lowering blood sugar.

I read on one post that cinammon will "stabilize" blood sugar and it will, if you are diabetic. On the other hand, if you are hypoglycemic, cinammon could potentially drive your blood sugar too low. I guess "stabilize" means "lower" to a diabetic, I should have caught that.

So just be careful with cinammon and hypoglycemia. I experienced this myself when I tried taking 500 mg, twice per day. I took one tablet at night and one in the morning and by mid morning, my sugar plummeted. The cinammon was the only thing I changed in my daily routine. Before this, I had been getting progressively better and sugar swings were becoming less and less frequent.

Cheers, JRo

Menstrual Issues

For profuse menstruation drink freely of a tea made with red raspberry leaves and cinnamon bark or cinnamon bark alone. This remedy will be found very effective for reducing pain and flow.

In a gel-capsule combine ground cinnamon and dried red raspberry leaves of equal volume; not by volume weight. Combine half the gel-cap with cinnamon and the other half with red raspberry. Gently packed the red raspberry leaves. The gel cap size is of your choice. I use size 00.

An easy way to fill a capsule is to place the ground or powdered material in a saucer or on a plate and scoop the two sections of the capsule together through the material; both halves will fill.

Fill one whole capsule with ground cinnamon and one whole capsule with dried ground red raspberry leaves. Use half of the cinnamon capsule and it place on one end of half the red raspberry capsule. Look at the capsule halves closely as one side is longer and a little bit bigger. This is so the two halves will combined to make one capsule.

wow, thanks Leah... a constant dilemma for us omnivores... what is and isn't safe to eat. according to this, ceylon has much less coumarin compared to cassia."

10/23/2009: Katherine from Ventura, Ca replies: "I'm responding to Leah from NY's post with the link attached describing the danger of cinnamon. I read it but it doesn't give enough information to figure out what is a safe or dangerous amount. They give measurements of milligrams and we use measurements of teaspoons. It is impossible to convert their milligrams into our teaspoons because they are using a weight measurement and we are using a volume measurement. So...how much cinnamon is a safe amount? We can't tell by the article you submitted. Therefore we need to find another source with American measurements to help us. Get searching people! FYI...according to the article the liver damage is temporary. You may suffer some jaundice which will clear in a matter of weeks and it only happens to some people, not all according to the article."

02/08/2010: Thomas from Carlsbad, Ca replies: "No reason to FEAR THE Cinnamon and Honey cholesteral Cure,

Leah must work for Lipitor to scare everyone back to statins which can really kick the wazooo out of your liver, but its ok to take so says the rubber stamp FDA.

Apprantly no one read the link Leah provided.

Please follow the one below.

Cassia Cinnamon is a close relative to Real Cinnamon which is native to Ceylon.Cassia Cinnamon is also called Saigon Cinnamon or Chinese Cinnamon. Cassia cinnamon contains COUMARIN which is the problem for the liver. Real cinnimon from Ceylon has only .0004%coumarin. The zeros to the right of the decimal point indicate an extremely small level or one heck of an intake of cinnamon before worrying about liver problems.

Saigon cinnamon on the other hand contains 5% COUMARIN this is alot and is not good and this form of cinnamon should not be used for this formulation. Go figure this is the cinnamon all the big bakers use. Why? Cheaper. So if your eating a lot of cinnabuns you pounding your liver as well as your cholesteral.

So the formula would appear to be safe as long as you use real cinnimon from Ceylon. Lets get started lowering cholesterol with out the use of statin drugs listen to the disclaimers in the ads. They tell you what their going to give you along with your cure in a pill.

04/13/2010: Barry from Savannah, Missouri replies: "FYI about volume measurement: A teaspoon of cinnamon is alomost exactly 3 grams equivalent. Also, I read a wellness letter in 2005 that with only a 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, they observed total cholesterol numbers drop from 18 to 30 points in a 30 day period."

04/13/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "18 to 30 points, is that a drop? And what about the coumarin (not that I know what that is....)."
EC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coumarin

04/14/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Thanks for clarifying this subject, I had never heard of coumarin. Now I understand the dangers of cinnamon but the mini-beet protocol included taking cinnamon on a daily basis... I have tried the second protocol and I have to say that no matter how good it maybe for you I didn't like it. I don't like taking the same juice every day and I didn't like the cinamon either, it tastes awful. I will try to include more beet juice in my diet as well as asparagus, celery and fennel but not every day and not together. We do a lot for our health but... it has to stay a bit of fun otherwise we give it up! I still don't understand about the lower cholesterol."

04/14/2010: Tamara from Fort Collins, Colorado replies: "I just wanted to add my two cents about the cinnamon during the mini beet protocol. Besides containing coumarins (and the amount is dependent on which type of cinnamon you're using), cinnamon helps to regulate blood sugar levels. So, when Robert advises you to start the cinnamon about 15 minutes before drinking the beet juice, he is trying to help you control the blood sugar and insulin response your body will have when drinking a juice made from beets. Beets, as everyone knows, are root vegetables and root veggies have a high sugar content (think potatoes, carrots, etc.) Then, by eating the carrots and apples immediately afterwards, you won't feel the detox effects as much because the fiber from the carrots and apples helps to eleviate and slow down that insulin response once more. So cinnamon plus fiber equals less blood sugar side effects from drinking the highly concentrated (but very effective and powerful) attributes of the beets. Please don't be afraid of cinnamon!"

03/05/2011: Chloe from East Greenwich, Ri replies: "Here is what I found on Wikipedia regarding the toxicity of *Cassia*. As you can see, the most popular type, CINNOMUM BURMANII. which I get in bulk from Starwest Botanicals, is very low in essential oils, and therefore you should not worry about this liver damage scare:

innamomum burmannii, also known as Indonesian Cinnamon, Padang Cassia, or Korintje, is one of several plants in the genus Cinnamomum whose bark are sold as the spice cinnamon[1]. The spice is the least expensive of the three common forms of cinnamon as it has the lowest essential oil content. The most common and cheapest type of cinnamon in the US is made from powdered Cinnamomum burmannii. As a result of the low oil content, Cinnamomum burmannii may have less of the mildly toxic substance coumarin than does C. cassia[2]."

07/15/2011: Charlie from Marion, Indiana replies: "hello, first of all thanks to leah for the warning on cinnimon and coumarin. i was taking mega doses of cinnimon and honey. to help reduce cholesterol and blood sugar. yesterday i recieved the results of a blood test for cholesteral and sugar. while they both improved, the results of my liver functions was completely off the chart. my last blood work for liver functions taken 3months ago was a little high at 132 this test showed my liver functions at 720 so i would have to believe there is a corralation between the use of cinnimon and liver complications. seems i have traded one health concern for another..

i am going to stop using the cinnamon and start drinking beet and carott juice to see if i can reverse the damage. will post my results later. thanks to all who submit their concerns on this web site. CHARLIE"

07/15/2011: Gavin from Manganui, Northland, New Zealand replies: "Yes only use Cinnamon from Srilanka. The Cinnamon from the Philippines has the stuff that does the liver damage. Ok in small amounts but not good in large amounts."

07/16/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Hi Charlie, be careful with too much carrot juice as well, they seem to help develop certain forms of cancer, at least that is what I read..... One almost comes to the conclusion that everything is bad for you! Maybe the truth is that everything in moderation is good for you and also food that is properly grown, not the type full of chemicals!"

07/16/2011: Jay from Toronto, Ont, Canada replies: "To Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France who wrote "..... be careful with too much carrot juice as well, they seem to help develop certain forms of cancer, at least that is what I read..... One almost comes to the conclusion that everything is bad for you! Maybe the truth is that everything in moderation is good for you.

Francisca, where did you read that carrot juice helps develop cancer? There are several alternative medicine treatments that use carrot juice as part of their protocol to treat and even cure cancer. Gerson Therapy is one that comes to mind

Be careful with using the phrase "everything in moderation is good for you". Doctors recommended moderate cigarette smoking in the 1930's for people with anxiety issues."

07/16/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Oh my, Jay..... You know very well what I meant! Which is, that whatever you eat, drink, has to be in moderation or else it might still hurt you! Common sense, really.... Therefore it is sensible to eat a variaty of foods, not only focus on one or two that might indeed be very good for you but they cease to be if you eat them the whole time! Actually.... why am I even explaining this? Who talked about smoking? Come on....

Sorry I don't remember where I read about the carrot juice but I did a short while ago. No one is saying that you shouldn't drink it ever but the thing is maybe be careful with the amount! Anyway, my approach nowadays is exactly as I said: Everything can be good for you or bad for you depending on the approach (and no, I don't mean smoking, as I don't mean taking any kind of poison, or toxic chemicals.... sorry but no, I don't mean that! ).

Anyway, try drinking too much carrot juice and you will turn orange! Years ago a man died doing exactly that, far too much carrot juice!

Sinus Issues
Posted by Brandy (Athens, GA) on 03/10/2009

I have a question instead of a remedy? I had nasal septoplasty and turbinate reduction in Oct. 2008. Still having some trouble with congestion and doctor says I have GERD now. Which is a type of reflux. I have been on Previcid for 2 months and even though I do not feel I have reflux he says I need to take pills two times a day instead of one. How does honey and cinnamon work with breathing issues? I always thought honey worked against asthma. I do not have asthma but how would honey and cinnamon affect this? Thanks

Essential Oil Inhalation cure for Bronchitis, Sinus Infections, Pneumonia

I regularly get sinus infections due to a deformity in one of my sinuses. Until a few years ago when I found this cure I had regular bronchitis and lastly in 2005 I had serious pneumonia. I opted out of health insurance years ago so I had to take responsibility for my own health.
I got onto one of those $39.95 sites with the magical cure but this one WORKED! So here it is for all of you.

The following essential oils are 89% antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal. Cinnamon, Clove and Oregano. First, get the best quality you can.

These oils work magic together BUT, you can use just one or a combo of two if that is all you can get. Put 2-3 drops of each oil in a steamer or a steaming pan of water. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET THE OILS ON YOUR SKIN...They burn. Cinnamon and Clove burn. (Cinnamon Oil is the main ingredient of all those lip plumpers :-) Now, inhale the steam with your eyes closed and take it in as deeply as you possibly can, breathing through the nose and the mouth alternately. When I did this with my pneumonia, I felt a kind of crack in my lungs after three or four breaths and everything started to come loose. I coughed up all the guck and was completely well in 5 days. I was so sick that I had bruised my ribs from the coughing and I was very, very weak. Now at the first sign of anything respiratory, I do this. I have never had a reoccurence of bronchitis or pneumonia and very seldom get any sinus trouble anymore. How happy I am that we can all share these wonderful old rememdies with each other! Thanks to this site and all of you.

Geez now I need a remedy for my over-thinking brain. Thanks for the remedies!!

This is a remedy I have seen other people use around me in India for arthritis. I teaspoon of ground cinnamon powder, mixed with 1 teaspoon pure, organic honey. Take it in the morning before you eat anything. And do not eat/drink anything for 30 minutes after. Drinking water is fine. You should see effect within a week, if not within days.
