Milk of Magnesia

Maggie, for thrush or yeast in the mouth. I use Milk of magnesia. I brush regularly with it. I know it seems weird but it really works. I brush my teeth without toothpaste first. I use a small amout of milk of magnesia the taste can be a bit bland unless you get a flavored one. I've used both. Then I rinse and brush with toothpaste. so you will definitely feel a difference! This being said. I'm going to use this regularly orally to help a yeast infection along with acidophilus and yougurt. I will also drink this amazing tea my 19 year old makes. I'm not sure what's in it but it has yougurt so it tastes good and is good for ya.
Urine

Get over the stigma of urine being gross and nasty. Terminally ill people can survive and become well by drinking nothing but their own urine. It is not a waste product, it is a filtration of your blood and has very strong anti-biotic anti-viral and anti-fungal properties.... Do the research, many medicines are backwards engineered from urine.
Yogurt
Posted by Immils (Kentucky, Usa) on 12/18/2011
The reason the yogurt works is because it would be a type of probiotic for the baby. I have been studying natural medicine for approx 12 years now and have treated thrush successfully in babies and diabetic adults. To treat thrush which is a fungal infection called Candidiasis (Yeast for short), I give a strong probiotic and Pau D'Arco. This treatment will cure any yeast infection whether of the mouth or elsewhere. The physiology behind this is simple, the natural flora of the body is depleted and it can't keep the "bad bacteria" at bay so it begins to grow out of control and spread to other parts of the body creating what we see as Thrush or Yeast infections.
Pau D'Arco has a miraculous ability to choose not to hurt the "good" natural flora in the body but to help it grow and kill the "bad" bacteria in the body. The probiotic builds the "good" bacteria of the body up to sufficient numbers to keep the "bad bacteria from affecting us. The "bad" bacteria is always in our body but we have to be stronger and outnumber it. Once the symptoms of the candidiasis goes away then you can stop taking the Pau D'Arco and just take the probiotic for maintenance. Both come in forms that can be given to babies and neither are harmful in any way to the body from infant to adult. Hope this helps and I probably give more information than needed, all my friends and family tell me I do anyway. :)
Salted Butter

Saw the post about Salted Butter and thought, what the Heck why not.
Back story, I have been having several bouts of Alkalosis lately, Related to my Adrenals, Having Spouts of deep breathing, Joint pain and weakness; I realized it was Hypocapnia, or High Bicarbonate or Excess CO2. I thought It was Diabetic Ketoacidosis Causeing thess attacks, but no matter how much BS treatments Id take, it wouldn't go away. Well I guess it was the opposite, Alkalosis, my PH was too high causeing Similar Metabolic and respiration issues. It got so bad, I developed Thrush, as Candida Thrive in an Alkali Environment.
Did the regular BS / Lemon juice Rinses to try and get rid of it. But the BS was making it worse. It would recede for a an hour or 2, then come back twice as hard. I had done so much BS, that I was getting Herx from the Candida die off. And when Candida dies off, it will produce even more CO2. I was in a cycle of Constant Alkalosis. I figured out I needed to stop the BS. So took some other supplements.
I took Zinc, Mag Potassium, and L-Lysine. It was helping a bit, but my mouth was so Thrush filled, It was getting sores, and everything hurt of eat or Drink. Looking here I saw the Milk of Magnesisa, but didnt know if id last another 2 weeks while that reversed.
Back to Top, saw the Salted Butter, and Had some Kerrys Irish salted butter, thinking, God let this work, or ill die from the pain.
Holy Moly! Instant Relief! I put some in Swished it around and spit it out. Then did 2 more times for the sake of thuroughness. Then swallowed a small bit to see if it help my throat and stomach.
Wow! Why this hasnt been tried and tested before is beyond me. Its the easiest, fastest and most effective thing ive ever done for Thrush. It needs to be number one on the list here.
Multiple Remedies

Oral Thrush (Candida) My symptoms: sore throat (which was really white patches on the back of my throat that turned into red sores) and a thickly coated tongue. Thrush can be several colors: white, yellowish, brownish, orange.
After going to 2 MDs (worthless) and a specialist (even more worthless) I was left to figure out treatment on my own. Thank Heaven for Earth Clinic.
Here's what worked for me:
1. NO sugar. The problem exists in the gut, so treating the mouth alone will not work. Candida thrives on sugar.
2. Probiotic: use a good quality REFRIGERATED probiotic. Buy one that is enteric coated (sealed) so it opens in the lower intestine where it will do the most good.
3. Drink LOTS of filtered water.
4. Treat the tongue. I alternated hourly the following: a mixture of baking soda and sea salt on the tongue and rub it in, swish then spit, swishing with vegetable glycerin (spit out), swishing with whole leaf aloe juice (then drinking it as directed), oil pulling with organic coconut oil (swallow or spit), dentist gave me an Rx for Nystatin (not sure how effective this would be alone). I also found that having an apple before bedtime soothed both my throat and stomach. Chew a piece of apple then let the bits rest on your tongue before swallowing.
5. Plain, organic, probiotic yogurt. This is my breakfast. I also left some on my tongue for several minutes before swallowing.
6. Yeast supplements. Contacted my herbalist for a good quality yeast supplement.
7. Do not use a toothbrush on your tongue. It is too harsh. I bought a tongue scraper that has a wide, soft brush that works great. Use the tongue scraper a few times a day and especially after brushing your teeth at night. I disinfect both brushes by tossing them in a jar of alcohol.
8. Get plenty of rest. Infections deplete your body.
9. I have GERD which I think contributed to the thrush. DO NOT USE OTC antacids!! They make your system too alkaline. Ask your naturopath/herbalist about gentiana/scutellaria capsules to aid digestion. Use as directed at meal times and before bed.
10. Be patient. I've been dealing with this for nearly two months and am finally seeing change. But if the infection persists make sure that there are no underlying causes such as diabetes or auto immune issues.
(I have also ordered gentian violet tincture. There are numerous articles on using this product as a swab directly on the tongue in babies. I will update after use)
Coconut Oil

★★★★☆BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS
Coconut oil is an incredible remedy to cure thrush. BUT you have to use it in the wrong way. If you take too much, it can exacerbate your symptoms. Through much trial and error, I have learned the importance of GOING SLOW!! When I took a tablespoon, and even a teaspoon of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, my thrush got so bad I could barely swallow - my mouth got so incredibly dry. Coconut oil is SUCH a potent detoxifier/antifungal - if you already are having a problem with yeast, you must go slow! I started taking just 1/8 of a teaspoon of coconut oil for about a week (even that tiny amount initially caused detox reactions in me) and then all of a sudden the thrush that the coconut oil had in the past cleared right up!! GO SLOW AND START WITH TINY AMOUNTS WHEN IT COMES TO USING COCONUT OIL AS AN ANTIFUNGAL! Good luck!
Gentian Violet

Volume 361, ISSUE 9369, P1657, May 10,2003
During the five decades of my medical career, I have seen gentian violet used as an anthelmintic (enteric-coated tablets administered orally for entrobiasis), a local antibacterial and antifungal surface agent, a laboratory stain, a fungal inhibitor in culture media, and to improve visualisation of surface sutures, not to mention its use as a dye for labelling and marking.
Restrictions on the use of this chemical have now been imposed in the UK, Canada and Australia, based on reports of its mutagenic and carcinogenic effects in animals. However, after centuries of use, there is not a single report linking gentian violet to cancer in human beings. Furthermore, in the National Toxicology Program (NTP) Study on New Zealand white rabbits, no evidence of teratogenicity of gentian violet was recorded. That this cheap and effective antiseptic agent still retains its place in the US Pharmacopeia is reassuring.
Ishak Mansi has not only restated the benefits of a largely abandoned, though useful and inexpensive topical antiseptic, but also touched on the almost obsessive apprehensions of every practising clinician: what if even in doing their best for a patient, a much-advertised trial lawyer finds fault with their handling of the individual?
From the instant a doctor has first contact with a patient, to weeks, months, and years afterwards, he or she has to live in the shadow of an impending lawsuit.
This is not the art of medicine one dreamed of, or was trained for. In such a scenario, even the patient does not get treated in the best traditions of medicine; unnecessary investigations are ordered, and the most expensive medicines prescribed even for trivial ailments. This trend has sent the cost of medical care skyrocketing and has forced doctors into early retirement due to appalling costs of malpractice insurance.
By all accounts, medical practice is in need of a renaissance, the signs of which I do not see on the horizon.

This is in response to the negative feedback for gentian violet and thrush. Look up the website in Canada and look up any possible name for gentian violet on wikipedia and you will find the person who left that feedback is misinformed. Gentian violet, or any of the other names it goes by, are not listed on the website the user mentions.
I used gentian violet--one time--for my baby's thrush. Painted my nipples and she sucked. Within a day, the white spots in my infant's mouth were gone and she was back to eating normally.

Two of my kids had thrush before turning 4 months old. My grandmother told me to use a cotton ball or clean white cloth, wet with bit of babies urine from first morning diaper change and wipe on the white patches on tongue and mouth. Cleared in 1-2 weeks.

Raw Sauerkraut

I started taking raw sauerkraut about a week ago and the thrush I've been battling for years is gone now. I read some research about how raw, fermented foods like Sauerkraut and Kimchi cure yeast, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I took only about a teaspoon for the first 2 days, then I moved up to 1 tablespoon, and now I'm taking 2 tablespoons. Also, I've been having chronic sinus problems and the sauerkraut seems to be clearing that up as well. I guess it really was a yeast issue all along. Make sure you buy RAW sauerkraut. The raw kind helps fight yeast and the kind that's not raw can actually add to it. Good luck out there! There are cures if you really investigate!

Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of HIMALAYAN PINK SALT 1 or more times a day under the tongue for thrush/white coated painful tongue/dry mouth. You should see a BIG difference in 1-2 days. Also, it may be helpful to take a rest from all other supplements (except acidophilus) for at least a few days while trying the salt treatment.

Both myself and my infant suffered horribly from thrush. I breastfeed and had it on my breasts, baby had it on genital area. It was miserably itchy. I began consuming 1 TBSP coconut oil daily, as well as applying it topically to myself and my baby. I also would use tea tree oil/alternate 2-3 x daily,it also helped considerably to avoid sugar, and breads. A few things happened, I noticed right away my asthma improved and was able to go off my meds! I lost 8 lbs the first month, and a total of 30 in 5 months consuming the coconut oil. It took about 3 weeks, but the thrush was totally gone, with no reoccurances!
Apple Cider Vinegar

Have you tried Apple Cider Vinegar? When my last child was born, he had thrush in his mouth. I was nursing him at the time and got a cracked nipple. The Dr. told me I had to quit nursing as the baby and I would just pass the condition back and forth. An old woman told me that was nonsense and to dilute apple cider vinegar with a little water and put it on a q-tip and rub it around in the baby's mouth and to rub soome on my nipple as well. She told me it would be gone in a couple of days at the most. I tried it and it worked. I have since passed this information on many times and it always seems to work. So, it's a cheap and easy thing for you to try if you haven't tried it already.
Fennel

For thrush or a white coating on the tongue:
Go to a Natural Food store and buy ground Fennel seed (Much cheaper than a grocery store).
My daughter use to get thrush all the time as a baby; a Dr. recommended this:
*Use 1 tbs of ground fennel in a coffee maker.
*Use one cup of water.
*Put it in a bottle warm or cold doesn't matter.
Should clear the babies tongue in a couple of days. I used this the entire time my daughter was drinking formula.

I suffered with thrush for 9 mos. Tried Nystatin and several other RX meds. Tried all of the popular probiotics and even tried the expensive Three-Lac. Three-Lac did offer some relief but could not completely get rid of the problem. One week of extra Virgin coconut oil from GNC, Emerald labs did the trick. I had several days of pure hell from upset stomach, loose bowels stomach pain and so on. This eventually subsided and the benefits have been nothing short of miraculous. I wish I had known of this product earlier, it would have saved me a ton of misery and saved me a boat load of cash.

Cure for Oral Thrush (Yeast)!

The organic cranberry extract supplements did not work for yeast, even when I dissolved them in my mouth before swallowing. I just drank about 4 oz a day and it was gone in like 2 days. Like a Miracle!
Fresh Cranberries

If you indeed have oral thrush and at your wits end treating it, give this a shot. Buy a one pound wt. usa package of fresh whole raw cranberries. Wash/drain using plain water. Eat about 1/4 to 1 cup slowly letting it rest in your mouth a bit, 1-3 times a day. Store in fridge. They are so sour it would seem they have to be doing something good. Fresh cranberries are known for balancing blood sugar. I had this thought but have never tried it during active oral thrush. I do munch on fresh cranberries and my mouth feels so fresh and clean afterward. I'd be interested to see if they have a positive effect on active oral thrush. To clarify, I am not talking about cranberry juice. I am talking about Fresh Whole Cranberries. If you are a food whiner and have to have everything you eat taste like a bowl of sugar then you may as well pass on this. Note: I buy fresh USA cranberries on sale average 79 cents/ lb bag, wash/drain and put in slider bags in freezer to enjoy all year. Twenty pounds last me till they are in season again. Thank you.
