Wow! This is an amazing home remedy. I had the worst sty on my lower lid inside corner of my eye. It was very swolen and red. The whole area under my eye was also swollen and red. I rubbed a gold earing as I did not have a gold ring, for about 5 minutes and an hour later the swelling and redness is about 50% gone! As I was rubbing it, I could actually see the clear liquid draining out of the sty! Thank you!!!

PS: I washed with Green Tea afterwards and felt even more instant relief.

The gold wedding band cure works. I was developing a painful style where I could even feel the lump rubbing on my eye. My mother had one a while back and tried the baby shampoo and potato cures but neither worked so she had to go to the doctor and have it lanced as well as take antibotics and it took 2 months to fully heal. Therefore, I decided to try something different and went for the gold band method. I had my doubts but I since I had a ring on hand and it would be completely free to try, I thought I would try it. I cleaned my band, pulled up my eyelid (the sty was inside my eyelid), and I rubbed for about 1 minute. The sty had a puss filled yellow tip but the ring did not cause the puss to come out on my eye, thank goodness. The band felt really good and gave a lot of relief, but still I thought "this can`t work". I figured it was just the coolness of the ring that was giving relief. I had to go to a meeting so I stopped rubbing after 1 minute and left. About 2 1/2 hours later I returned home and suddenly realized my eye wasn`t hurting anymore so I checked it and it no longer had the puss tip and it had shrunk and was the color of my skin. That night I rubbed the sty a little more and woke up with no pain. A little of the sty was still there but no pain and no puss. 3 days later it was gone.

I tried the castor oil, tea bags and baby shampoo on a very big sty, and these remedies have worked wonders. First l washed the eye with baby shampoo, and amplied hot to warm chamomille and green tea bags. Then applied with a cutetip the castor oil. I have been doing this for the past three days and the inflamation is almost gone. I was looking like a monster, was really scared to the point l was ready to go the an eye doctor although l do not have insurance. Thanks for being Earth Clinic!

When we were children, my grandmother would rub her gold ring on our stys. It was pretty amazing how quickly it seemed to work. After about 5 minutes of rubbing the ring on the sty, we were off playing again and never gave it a second thought. As an adult I've had a couple of stys in the past 30 years and I've always gone back to the gold ring remedy. Has never failed.

My partner woke up this morning with a sty. He's flying to Chicago today to speak at a conference. Needless to say he's not happy about the sty. After convincing him to rub my gold class ring (from the 1970's when they were still gold) on the sty, the pain immediately subsided. I'm confident by Saturday morning his sty will be gone and he can enjoy his conference.

My husband had the beginnings of a sty a few years ago and we just took a 14 K ring cleaned it and rubbed it on the sty about 3 times a day (just wiped it across about 15 times)and it went away without getting really large. Such a simple thing to do and it saved him alot of pain.

Baby Shampoo

Baby shampoo for styes. When I worked as an ophthalmic tech, I saw many styes successfully treated with the use of baby shampoo. The basic technique is to use very warm compresses on the affected eye first - to open the offending glands - and then gently scrub the lashline with a clean washcloth that has been wrung out in warm water and has only a drop or two of the shampoo applied. If you can manage to use the warm compresses at least two to three times a day, that actually seems to work at least as well as the shampoo.

No, you wash the eye thoroughly inside and out for at least two minutes. Try to do this at least three times a day. It helps believe me. It will sting a bit but the relief is worth it once you start soaping it up. Be sure to wash your hands anytime you come in contact with your eye and hot compresses are a good relief as well. Good luck!

"I'm not usually a blogger - but feel it necessary to write about my positive experiences with clearing a sty in 24 hours". Thank you so much EC. I read all the blogs on how to get rid of sty a on fixed income and no health insurance. So here goes... It was about the size of a peppercorn in the left eye and was hurting really bad. I rubbed with my gold ring-14k for about 5 minutes while sitting on a toilet. In the afternoon the sty size went somewhat down. I drank regular tea and placed a teabag on the eye. The swelling came back to bigger size... Then I applied baby bath wash with a qtip in the evening. I showered at night and felt it open up with steam, I put pressure on it lightly and felt stringy mucous come out. I applied the baby wash again before going to bed. I let it stay overnight. In the morning I washed my face, the sty bump was gone. It was flat. I applied Aloe Vera gel from Trader Joes ($2. 99) on sty area. This afternoon my son comments when he saw my face, "what did you do... How did you get rid of it. " Thank you again, it is gone n 24 hours!!!!!!

Yes, baby shampoo is very affective at alleviating styes quickly. I tried two applications- yesterday afternoon and evening, on a under-the-lower-eyelid sty. First I used a cotton swab with a drop on the end to target the sty directly. It stung slightly and my eye teared up a bit. Before bed, I washed my afflicted eye with the baby shampoo in the shower, which seemed like the gentler and better method. This morning my sty is almost gone, along with the discomfort and swelling. Remarkable! Does anyone know why this works?

My brother, when he was a child, used to often get an eye sty. My mother used to take off her wedding ring and give it to him to rub on the sty for a minute or two. I don't remember her ever sterilizing the ring. The sty would be gone by the next day. I think it is better if the ring has a high gold content, but I did get rid of one myself with a 9ct ring.

I thought this sounded just crazy enough to work. It did!!!! It was sore and hurt to blink. I rubbed one of my gold rings on the inside of my lower lid for a few minutes before bed. When I woke up it was almost gone! It didn't bother me much at all today, but is getting a little sore so I'm going to do it again for longer this evening.

Go and buy Brewers Yeast right away to treat a sty. The same day you start using this the pain goes away. Within 3 days you don't even know you have it. Keep using it for 1 week just to make sure it goes away completely. If you get the bigger tablet take it 3 times a day. If you get the smaller round tablet take at least 2 of them 3 times a day. My dad told me this one. I had painful sty in my eye and it was pain like someone had punched me. Warm water to first clean the eye with cotton wool. Then put few drop of warm milk on the sty in the eye area. For good measure, I soak cotton wool pad and put on my eye until cotton pad has gone cold. In the morning, the sty had burst, I washed eye with water and... it was gone! Only slight reddness, maybe one more day, but all gone.

Glad you were brought up in a village, sorry you suffered thru poverty... But this helped my eye. love you dad.

Yup! It works. My husband used baby shampoo on a terrible Sty he had on his lower eye lid. He was skeptical, but used it in the shower and let it just naturally drip on to his eye ( while washing his hair ). Gone in two showers. Too bad he waited so long heeding my advice!! :)

Tea Bag for sty

Realised I had a sty yesterday for the first time when my girlfriend pointed it out to me, subsequently she had one the day before and dissapeared really quick with the use of some regular old eye drops.

Anyway, read about using green tea teabags for treating a sty. I didnt have any green tea teabags, but used rooibos tea teabags instead, I applied it twice for about 5 minutes each time then rinsed my eye with hot water (mostly just to get the remaining tea stain off my face lol), and BAM the sty has pretty much disappeared.

Flippen amazing, I'm quite surprised at how well it worked and in such a short amount of time, I was actually going to stop by the pharmacy today to get sty ointment until I came across this site.

Thanks for all the useful info on here. Definitely going to be coming to this site more often for the weird and wonderful things that people recommend.
