Coconut Oil, Borax

I'm just trying to get back here and place my vote for the remedy to jock itch. Turns out that rubbing a little coconut oil into the affected area and just a pinch or so of borax granules hit the spot. Quite literally.

I was miserable for months with this problem! I actually had 3 drs tell me that I had "some" kind of fungal growth but they didn't know what... Had they never seen Jock itch?! They told me to try an otc cream, which I did, and nothing... Well, I ran across some pictures and realized that's what I had. I was suprised, not realizing that women get this too! I was in agony and it really was affecting my life, because I was always uncomfortable and thinking about it. Plus I didn't even enjoy intimacy anymore....
I found this website (which I think is wonderful! ) And although I tried the acv, and alcohol and they didn't work for me, it got me thinking and doing more research. I read how liquid silver is a natural antiseptic and disinfectant. It's been used with success to reduce infections w/ catheters and ventilator associated pneumonia, prostheses, etc. And I decided to try it. I applied it to a cotton cosmetic square and then wiped it several times a day on the affected area. In 2 days I started feeling relief! In 5 days the redness and infection was gone! I'm also making sure I change my towel frequently and put a towel down on the equipment at the gym, when I sit to be safe. I am so grateful to have finally found something that works.
Deodorant

I finally found something that keeps jock itch at bay. Preventing it seems to work better than any "cure" ever did. I just spray on Arrid Extra Extra Dry anti-perspirant every day or every other day and it stays away.

Used some basic unscented deodorant spray ($3) in my groin area today on top of my antifungal cream. Wow, what a difference! My groin stayed dry all day (it's really really humid) and all through my workout. Yesterday I itched and sweat like crazy... Today, no itch at all. Amazing.

Hi, this is rude and crude, but works.
First jockey itch is a fungus. It can come from Candida or the sweat from your fanny. I sweat and learned that if that sweat is absorbed and does not flow into my crotch then I do not have this problem so I daily pack my fanny with tissue. If I do have a problem, then I spray with Dr Tishnors Antiseptic. This formula evolved from a Louisiana doctor during the War Between the States. A great story that saved lots of lives.
I have had poor results using Big Pharma stuff, but I don't like those B______s! , so it may be a mental thing. And yes it burns.

I used a basic unscented deodorant, and when it got super dry and itch, I sprayed a vinegar / water 50/50 solution to alleviate the itchiness. After a few months of suffering from this insane jock itch, I'm seeing a difference!
My groin area got very scaly, so I rubbed the skin with anti fungal ointment to scrape off (definitely not by scratching! ) the dead skin. My guess is that it's a direct result from fungus dying off.
I also sprinkled baking soda on my mattress and left it for hours, and after putting on new sheets, the crawling feeling around the groin totally disappeared.
*** I have tried countless over the counter creams, coconut oil, aloe Vera, and nothing really worked.

I think I had jock itch for months maybe longer. I found a site which I lost which suggested deodorant for tinea. I had a rash on both legs starting at the groin and extending 3 inches down. It matched the descriptions, red and darker on the leading edge. I used my wife's roll on deodorant by smearing on a light coat each morning after my shower. It cleared up in less than 2 weeks, but it had an initial effect in the first few days. 3 weeks and there is now hardly any sign of it. I think most deodorants have the same ingredients.
Dietary Changes
★★★★★
I tried rubbing alcohol and it worked -- eliminated jock itch that I had been experiencing for years. However, I still had to apply it regularly, once a day or once every two days, to keep it gone.
That said, for other, unrelated reasons, I switched to a whole foods plant based diet. After making this switch, the jock itch went away completely. It leads me to believe that either (1) something I was eating (eggs, dairy, etc.) was causing it or (2) something I was not eating but now eat on a regular basis (legumes, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts) has prevented the jock itch from returning. I recommend this strongly for anyone who has been struggling with jock itch.
Dietary Changes
Whenever I (a Type II diabetic) go off-track and eat some refined flour/sugar, the fungus (or candida family) feasts on the higher blood-sugar + goes wild! Usually in the intestine, where it can result in gas/diareha (I was diagnosed with diverticulitis, "untreatable", but using anti-candida natural cure ended it! ) So, it appears that overdoing the consumption of white flour (which is the same as sugar when it reaches your bloodstream) can feed those fungi + cause outbreak of jock rash too. Eliminating that "overgrowth" of candida in the gut is as simple as getting a product from your health-food store, which contains black walnut hull and other ingredients (which can differ by mfg, including oregano oil). My YEA is for the "Candida Clear" product. So, while I am not endorsing any 'cure' (although I use alcohol by instinct, and apply raw shea butter, a natural anti-fungal), this information is just a sort of 'preventative' beyond the usual locker-room warnings.
P.S. I agree with earlier post about avoiding powder with corn starch, it will feed the fungus!

I was diagnosed with diabetes II in May 2014. My doctor wanted me to start taking Metformin. I told her I prefer to reverse it with diet and exercise. She was quite skeptical and told me that eventually I would have to take it. I went on a low carb diet with mild exercise that was just walking up two flights of stairs in my home twice a day for 10 to 15 minutes. I was not monitoring my blood sugar. I went back to the doctor early this month (September). My blood sugar was down 8 points and I lost 20 pounds. She was quite shocked and pleased. She asked me what I was doing and I told her. She said continue what you are doing, you don't need the Metformin. Sometimes you have to take control of your health and not wholly depend on healthcare professionals.
I take 200mcg Chromium 2 or 3 times daily and a combination of Gymnema, Mulberry Leaf, and Cinnamon cap once daily to help burn the sugars. Cinnamon in particular is effective for burning sugar and killing fungus.

To Joyce, Lansdowne, Pa.---- I whole heartedly agree with you. "if the disease does not kill you, the medicine sure will".
I did this a few years ago and did not use the glucometer anymore. Psychologically, I could not take it any more after a few years and bad experience with the doctor who told me nothing about self care but threatened amputation, etc. Since I had done yoga for most of my adult life, I had also studied traditional medicine (meaning herbal medicine and Ayurveda)) in my free time just for my education. So I know what to do. Metformin caused instant depression and fatigue lasting in sleep mode all day and night. That was a short interval made worse with insulin while for the first time in my life I gained weight rapidly and the dolt told me to control my diet when I had perfect weight all my life. He gave me hypertension, swollen ankles and a heavy body. Then I told him I would quit with that kind of medical attention and do my own thing. I am back to normal.
That was a few years ago. Study on EC and Green Med Info revealed that these medications for type 2 will kill the patient eventually. The findings are well explained and researched.
Kudos for taking up the courage and follow on your own. I go according to feeling and am doing well. It is a strange world: some people are not afraid to smoke but they are afraid to discontinue proven poisonous medications. Go figure.

Anti diabetic medications are suppose to make it more difficult to heal it naturally. I don't have diabetes but there are enough anecdotal reports that diabetes 2 can be healed naturally. I agree about taking control of ones health.
Diluted Bleach
★★★★★
I used Bleach with water to cure my jock itch I had for 9 or so months. The bleach with water cured it in I think 3 days, but maybe it was a week. Whatever the case it was bloody fast.
I have a shot glass in my bathroom, I squirted a little bit of bleach into there, and then filled the rest up with water and stirred with a cotton bud.
Then I just poured the solution into my hands, and applied and spread it across my crotch area where the jock itch was.
You should smell like a swimming pool down there, so it might be best to do it before bed.
Now I first tried to use bleach directly, and that burnt bad and I had to wash that stuff off quickly. But by just diluting the bleach with a little bit of water I was surprised how the burn of bleach had gone so quickly. Then if I got any itching/irritation, it was not anywhere near as bad as my previous jock itch so it was fine.
The reason I'm saying this is you, is you do not need a lot of water, only very little. I started using half a shot glass of water rather than a full one, because it was just too much water to apply. Remember bleach doesn't thicken the water. So it's like applying water to your crotch, which can be very messy if you have too much (just try a full shot glass without any bleach in it). So don't make it with too much water. And I didn't use any towels to get rid of excess (in the crotch area), I just pulled up my underwear. If the solution had pulled down my leg or went on the floor, I used a towel.
Just so people know specifically which brand I used here in the UK. It was one I already had in my house called Mr Muscle Toilet Power Thick Bleach Gel.
People should know I tried a lot of other things. For example tea tree soap, 10% sulphur soap, and 12% hydrogen peyroxide.
Sulphur soap by Christina May actually helped a lot but never killed the jock itch, it basically dried the crotch area so much that it stopped it, but would cause cracks in my skin, including one crack in my foreskin.
Tea Tree Oil soap did nothing.
And 12% hydrogen peroxide, though it burnt like hell and very painful, did kill the jock itch, but only for a day, and it would return the next day. And this is 12%! So I manned up and use the strong stuff, and it didn't kill my jock itch.
Seriously guys and gals, use diluted bleach with water. You won't get the pain or burning like hydrogen peroxide will give you (especially when you have cuts), and might experience a slight irritation and itching. But after a week you'll banish this cursed thing forever.
You might want to wear gloves when you do it, as you might accidentally touch your eyes later on like I did, and even though I washed my hands with soap, the bleach had absorbed into my skin and there was still residue. So I accidentally rubbed my eyes and some bleach residue was there, and it started to irritate my eyes. Luckily just washing my eyes with water got rid of it.
Lastly I used Emu Oil after the jock itch was gone to heal the skin quickly. Emu Oil heals skin very fast. There's some doctor who's on youtube, uses emu oil and drugs to help heal skin and transport anti biotics, and really bad skin lesions, like ones open so you can see the bone, that they've had for years. Emu oil heals them in weeks! And it works on the my crotch area where cracks and lesions from this whole jock itch and sulphur soap era happened.
Lastly lastly. How do I know my jock itch is cured? Because when I use to have anything sugary it would start to itch really badly. The other day I has milk, porridge, and a lot of brown sugar, and I mean a lot (5 tablespoons or more). I was trying to cause an insulin spike with my protein after I had just been to the gym. And no itching occured! An absolute miracle! You might not agree with me eating that much sugar for insulin spike, but at least that told me, this thing is properly gone.
I might try and maintain my jock itch free status by applying diluted water and bleach once a week so it never returns.
Hope this helps.

Bleach does work. I got my jock itch from cycling and swimming. Only bleach cured my itch. But if I ride my bike for more than 30 minutes it does return. I wash the area with diluted beach during my shower so it doesnt stay on for very long and it gets washed away in the shower. But this is the only process that gave me permanent relief. None of the other ointments or powders or sprays worked.
Dish Washing Liquid
★★★★★
I have been feeling self conscious about reporting this remedy. Because I myself find it so unconventional. But I thought that if it worked for me, it could work for many other people.
For a few weeks, my jock Itch was preventing me form a good night sleep. The itch would keep me awake. I started to check earthclinic remedies and was ready to try the ACV. But I did not do it right away. And then, I discovered another remedy by accident.
The way it happened was that one Sunday morning, I was going to take a shower before going to Church. But I found out that I had no soap. None whatsoever. I knew it, but had forgotten to buy more the day before.
I did not want to miss Church, but also I would feel very unease going to church having skipped shower. Then It came to mind a TV commercial (about a dishwashing liquid) that I used to watch as a little kid. The claim was that it was very effective cleaning dishes, but also so gentle on the hands, that certain beautician was using it to soak her clients hands into it before manicures.
As I remembered, I figured that if it was so kind on the hands, It would not hurt to use it only once to take a shower. And so I did. But because I had this Jock Itch problem, I made sure to apply a small amount of dishwashing liquid to my scrotum and all immediate areas. And just as I was applying and rubbing the area (with a small towel as is my custom when I shower), I could not help to notice an immediate relief.
That day, my itch did not bother me, and also during the night the itch was gone. Therefore, I decided to use it a few more days. But finally, since my whole body skin felt so clean and good after shower, I decided to make a switch. Now I use dishwashing liquid for my shower all the time. But have not told anybody so they won't think I am eccentric.
The specific liquid I use is Dawn Ultra Platinum. Again, It has worked for me, and itch was gone right after first usage, not to return again. But I know I'm not using this liquid for its intended purpose.

DMSO

DMSO diluted 1:3 or so in water cured my terrible jock itch. I tried every remedy on Earthclinic but only DMSO cured it. With just one or two applications it was gone. No burn or pain either. Not sure why nobody else knows about this. I actually put some magnesium chloride in my mixture but pretty sure that was not the reason it worked.
Just soak your area in the dmso water, rub it in real well... leave it on like that at least 5 minutes before rinsing off.
Update:
The dmso actually stopped working within a few weeks. I now believe the answer is topical methylene blue. The only side effect is blue skin. Works rapidly and for days, without pain.
Ok actually I am the original poster (changed name) but I should have waited longer before saying dmso was the cure. It seems the fungus actually adapted to the dmso after a little while.
Currently what I have found works the best is methylene blue. Just a tiny bit spread on the skin. The downside is it makes your skin blue. But it really works fast and works for days before re-application required. Best of all it is not uncomfortable in any way like most other remedies.
I also like to lick a tiny speck of methylene blue for mental benefits.
Failed Jock Itch Remedies
★☆☆☆☆
Just thought I'd say what I have tried, over the years, which DIDN'T work.
Many oils seemed to increase the problem, not decrease it (including Olive Oil and Coconut Oil)
Oregano Oil, thyme oil, Tea Tree Oil and Eucalyptus Oil are all extremely caustic and I would never recommend anybody using any of them on their private parts (even if thinned with Olive Oil). "Burn your skin off" is what they do.
Iodine can work... but you have to apply it multiple times and that causes chemical burns, also.
All OTC products are crap. None work for long. Tinactin worked best; but not long-lasting. Maybe if you never had jock itch before, and you had it for ten minutes, and then you put it on it might work.
Repeated ACV, all-by-itself, didn't get rid of it.
Kyolic Garlic all-by-itself sometimes does pretty well at keeping it away for a time.
BEST REMEDIES:
High-alcohol content alcohol treatment done 3-4 times-per-day, alternating with 5% Hydrogen Peroxide (2 half-teapoons 35% Food-grade Hydrogen Peroxide mixed with 15 half-teapoons distilled water) alternating with 100% ACV with Mother (the cloudy stuff in the bottom of the jar. allowed to dry completely, then powdered with Boric Acid or Borax afterwards. Cover with lanolin after it is all completely dry (I use "NOW Solutions" 100% Pure Lanolin 7 oz. from Amazon).
After the problem has gone away, try mixing a Probiotic with Bifidus Longum and Lactobacillus Acidophillus to coconut oil and apply it. This will kill most of it, but allow some to repopulate. What works in the colon should also work in your butt crack.

This is the first time I've had jock itch. I'm 52 myself and tried the over the counter stuff. IT DIDN'T WORK! All it seem to do spread it more really made worse! Started reading on this site someone mention olive oil and garlic and someone also mention baking soda made a paste with that applied it did burn a bit but took the pain for 30 min. Like they said to do after the first it seemed to almost disappear over night did this for 3 days just in case also did the rubbing alcohol treatment two to three times a day by the third day it was 90 percent gone and was still fading away. Thanks for the insight. Men women do this it worked for me. by the way I also ate one glove of garlic a day like some mention kills it from the inside out.

For the last two years I have been bothered with itching armpits and jock itch. I have routinely shaved both areas and kept clean and dry. I tried everything. Clotrimazole 1% knocked it down but never completely out. One evening I had a terrific urge for garlic bread. I made it with olive oil and lots and lots and lots of garlic powder. I ate the whole loaf with scrambled eggs and garlic. The next morning I noticed I didn't itch as badly. For the next few days I ate garlic on everything. Powdered, fresh and frozen cloves. After about 3-4 days my rashes and itching were completely gone. I haven't had a hint of an itch or rash in 8 months. And I eat a lot of garlic. All I can say is it worked for me and I highly recommend trying it. (Freezing Hint - A store went out of business and I bought a large bag of fresh garlic. Tried hanging it but it started molding. I broke the bulbs into cloves filling 4 one-gal. Sealed bags and put in the freezer. That was more than a year ago and they still taste delicious. I take out as many cloves as needed, cut both ends off and the peel falls away. When thawed they are a little mushing and flavor concentrated, but in a stir fry, salad dressing or smoothy who cares)

The fact that wonderful garlic helped indicates you had or have a yeast infection.
Nystatin is an anti yeast product that is very effective against yeast infections. It came in power form when I last used it. Look it up on the internet to get its history.
Also topically "witch hazel" is very good.
But back to garlic, it is also super beneficial as an anti viral and it boosts the immune system. For a lingering cough, one of those that follow a cold and just keeps on tickling deep in the lungs, using two cloves of garlic raw, every day for a week is a cure used across the world.

Friends... Being a female.. I can tell u... Jock itch becomes more problematic.. As the monthly periods add more to the already worse condition of jock itch... It developed as a ringworm in my groin area... Later developed into big rashes.. Itching like hell... Suffered atleast for 4 full days.. Applied antifungal creams... No use.. Was hopeful that it will go by 6th day at least... But no.. It did'nt go... Out of frustration took 4 cloves of GARLIC. (had read in some website.. Garlic to be antifungal). Made a paste... Did not mix anything in the paste... Applied directly on the area of rashes.. It burned like hell... But I was ready to go thru any sort of pain to get rid of it... You won't believe... The itching is gone just in one application.. And hope that another one or two application will set me free... GARLIC REALLY WORKS...

Garlic Did It!
After a battle that goes back six years, if remember correctly, I found a way on this site to cure this infection. Store brand creams never worked for me, they would just get rid of the symptoms but never fully cure me. I wasted years of time spent and hundreds of dollars on clomitrozonale, tinactin, lotramin, gold bond, based on popular site searches until I found this website about a year or so ago; and the real healing began. I tried rubbing alcohol which was the same as those topical creams except more painful. Vinegar which I thought would work but my symptoms always returned. Lemon juice which actually made the area more itchy. Oregano Oil which was incredibly painful and ended scorching my skin. ( Eventually the area shed like a snake) Talc powder, soothing but not curing and finally I found a post that really resonated with me. A user said that we all actually like this infection, how relieving it feels to scratch it, how you just become comfortable with it being a part of you, you never truly understand it...It takes an outside as well as inside approach to this infection to kill TC.
If you have had it for a long time like me it is not only on your outer skin but it is inside you feeding on your blood stream as well. After learning this I followed suit. I changed my diet, no more soda, beer, and barely any carbs. Just meat (fish, chicken) and veggies. I ordered some quadriderm which is a popular centrifugal outside the U.S that has tolnaftate like "tough actin Tinactin" and the fungicidal gentamicin but it did not burn like Tinactin, in fact it was like rubbing lotion on the area. Finally, I minced up a clove of garlic and downed it (it did burn in my stomach for a couple moments but it is tolerable) and this began my most successful healing process to date. I would eat a clove every two or three days and apply the quadriderm everyday once in the morning. When I had TC I used to spray super hot water on the area and that was the most relieving feeling, the water could be so hot, much hotter than I could withstand anywhere else on my body but it was one of the most gratifying feelings I have ever experienced, almost as gratifying as knowing that I have possibly defeated the infection. I can no longer spray the area with scalding hot water now and have gone weeks without experiencing a significant itch. I just may have conquered my Jock Itch thanks to the inside outside approach. Quadriderm on the outside and Garlic for my insides.

Hi, I just tried the direct garlic application, I've suffered jock itch for years, god knows how many at this stage. Also had all the usual over the counter and numerous Doctor visits all giving the same result. The over the counter creams are for me, a complete waste of money. The prescribed creams and even oral pills work for the time you use the plus maybe a few days, then back to square one.
So I mashed up 3 garlic cloves in a desperate bit to even get a little relief, I applied them direct! I won't swear here but, the air was thick with mixed screams and shouted profanities!! Burning like I imagine Hydrochloric Acid would burn! I held out for only 5 minutes. At that point, I ran to the shower. Ice Cold water directed to the area, I stood about 10 minutes washing off the garlic.
This method should have a Government health warning,
I will check back in and leave feedback on the results as they happen.
Do not try this in the vicinity of anyone whatsoever! The screaming tends to scare even Hardiest of Marines!
Gold Bond Powder
★☆☆☆☆
Don't waste your time with Gold Bond's. You will see it dissapear very quickly and then come back right away. Gold Bond only impacts the symptoms, not the underlying cause. I've been applying ACV 2-3 times a day to my scrotum over the past 3 days and the area of infection has become very inflamed and slightly scabbing. Not sure if this is part of the process but will try it for 3-4 more days.

WARNING!
Gold Bond works great when used after applying a cream (lamisil or perscription strength). If your infection is serious do not use the powder by itself, because it won't do anything to fight the fungus and may even feed it because of the cornstach content mentioned above. There is no need for green bottle, the whole point of using it is just to maintain dryness... Don't rely on it for anything else other than keeping you dry. The extra stuff that comes in the green bottle isn't really needed to achieve this goal.
