Turmeric

1 tsp. of turmeric spice to a glass of warm water once per day for 3 days cured chronic diarrhea and intestinal bleeding. All I can say is THANK-YOU from the bottom of my heart. Had your site not been there, I just don't know how I could go on another day, I thought I was dying.

After the first week of constant diarrhea. I went to see my doctor. We did blood tests and stool culture tests and all results came back negative. He then referred me to a Gastroenterologist who put me on antibiotics for 1 week, these pills did nothing except make matters worse. Then we scheduled a colonoscopy and he said that my colon was all inflamed and scared but could not understand why and that they would need to do more tests. I went on the BRAT diet in the meantime but that did not help either. I was so dehydrated and lost 25 pounds in this ordeal. After almost 8 weeks of constant diarrhea with no end in sight. I started searching on the internet for anything I could find relating to my symptoms. Then I stumbled upon this site and read up on the Turmeric cure. It WORKED!!!

It's a miracle! I have never been seriously ill in my entire life (I'm 46) prior to this. I am on my 4th day AFTER that 3rd glass of Turmeric and it's like it never happened, I am back to my old self!

Lemon Juice

For diarrhea: Lemon water. I have found that drinking lemon water has stopped my 6 months of diarrhea. This is amazing. One 16 oz water bottle( drink some to make room for juice), squeeze one fresh lemon, pour into water bottle. Sip all day. Then do this again the next day and sip on this one bottle for 2 days. Keep making one bottle last 2days and always drink with a straw as to not damage teeth. Best results after about two weeks. This drink also alkalizes your body. Lemon turns into an alkaline after ingested.

Bonus: sleeping through the night.

Eat 3-4 (small) coconut macaroon cookies after your first episode and that will stop your diarrhea. I keep some in my freezer and just eat them when I need to. Works better than Imodium or anything else.

My mom used to boil milk and make us drink it after it cools. It tastes awful and do not add sugar. Just hold your nose and drink it. It works like a charm!

Have you ever tried eliminating gluten? I think it is the #1 cause for IBS.

Pickle Juice

My grandmother always had us drink some dill pickle juice for diarrhea. Usually worked within a day!

Her remedies were passed down from her mother and grandmother She believed in castor oil...or Black Draught syrup...Clover Salve... If one of those didn't cure you or kill you....then you went to the doctor (she always called him the 'pill-crusher')

I can vouch for the dill pickle juice.

Ground Flaxseed

This method is for diarrhea caused by IBS, as I have not tried it for any other kind, and don't know that it would work. I started taking one tablespoon of ground flaxseed (same as flaxseed meal), in the morning and one in the evening. At first it didn't help, so I gave it more time, and after about a month (will be different for different peole probably), I have really noticed that things have improved.

For as long as I remember I have had loose stools every day, and at least twice a day. (Sorry if tmi.. ) But a month into taking flaxseed I have firm stools for the first time in ages! It's remarkable how it has helped.

Most people think of ground flaxseed as a laxative, and it apparently will get you moving if tend towards constipation, but it seems to do this by bulking up your stool, (making it less hard). And in the same way it stops too loose stools by bulking them up and making them more solid. (Apologies again for the detail I am going into. Not sure how else to explain it! )

I'm very happy with it. It's meant to contain loads of vitamins and minerals and to be really good for all sorts of disorders. I'm really happy with it, and will be taking it for a long time!

Ground Flaxseed

Dear Jayne, thank you for the information about the ground flaxseed...I stopped buying it about two years and that is when I started having irritable bowel syndrome ..I am 72 so I chalked this to getting older..I began noticing that soon after I ate dinner I would literally run to the bathroom and many times not make it in time and have to change my clothes...but today, after a particularly bad round of diarrhea I came to this site ( EC ) and found where apple cider vinegar has really helped many people and then I read your testimony and so I am going to start back on ground flaxseed..I am so happy I came across your remedy and did you know that a 1/2 of ground flaxseed daily really shrinks tumors down to nothing in time?

Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil

I went to Morocco this summer and was not as careful as I should have been about avoiding contact with the water. By the end of the trip, I had a classic case of traveler's diarrhea (caused by the presence of E. Coli in the water). My stomach started to bother me and a few days after I left Morocco, I was experiencing excruciating cramping, had liquid bowel movements about 11-12 times per day, had a burning/queasy feeling in my stomach, had chills, could not eat, and was generally miserable. Every anti-diarrhea medication that I tried or was prescribed (I tried 5) had absolutely NO effect on me. It wasn't too long before my fiance's parents knew ALL about my bowel problems (to my embarassment), so my fiance's mom gave me apple baby food which seemed to help a little. I suffered for another 3 days, and on the final day I had to travel home for over 24 hours, including a 11-hour flight, and with my condition it seemed like it was going to be a disaster.

the trip I looked up remedies on EC and bought some ACV (couldn't buy the kind with the mother, because I was not in the US at the time). I took the ACV about 3 times that day and the cramping and nausea disappeared and the frequency of my bowel movements greatly decreased. When I got back to the US I was able to take some ACV with the mother, took some coconut oil in chai (which contains cinnamon), ate some applesauce with cinnamon, and in one day my problem was completely GONE, finally putting an end to my 10 days of suffering. Thank you EC!!!! And readers, PLEASE do not drink the water in developing countries ;)

N.B.: Coconut oil might have been effective in my case because my diarrhea was caused by a bacterial/parasitic infection, but coconut oil generally has a laxative effect on most people, so use with caution!

Tried the 4 tablespoons of vinegar to half cup of purified water; my stool has solidified since taking two cups of this ACV and took one again this morning. It burns a little going down but it's worth the results it offers. I was excited to see my stool texture improve and I'm going to keep doing it for a week to ensure remedy effectiveness. Thank you Earth Clinic:)!! I'm going to do this three times a day for a week.

Boiled Milk

I was once told by my great grandmother this, I tried it and it worked---I couldn't believe it, I couldn't tell you why it works, it just does.

To stop diarrhea boil two cups of whole milk (IT HAS TO BE WHOLE MILK).
Let it cool to a drink able stage.
It forms a skim of "skin" on top as it cools on the surface---peel it off.
Drink it.
I have had it work every time for me.

I would like to add that blackberry juice is great for diarrhea in children. It works for adults as well. Boil fresh or frozen blackberries, strain. Let cool before drinking.I often make a large batch and freeze it so we always have it on hand.

I had food poisoning 14 days ago and although the bad diarrhea subsided, i have had loose bowels a couple of times each day and cramping and gas all day. I wasn't getting any better. I began using pepogest and digestive enzymes and that helped a little. Then i read about acv on earthclinic so i bought some immediately (all i could find was unfiltered/pasteurized). I took a tablespoon in 8oz of water 3 times a day with each meal. After 1 day I am already feeling relief. I have much less cramping and gas and have only gone once today. I hope that this remedy continues to help me improve.

Thank you for your tip on using apple cider vinegar for diarrhea. I had diarrhea for three days straight and found your website while I was searching for a home remedy. I went to a health food store and found ACV in pill form. After the first dose, I felt better but still had some loose stools. After one full day of taking the ACV, no more diarrhea! I feel so much better. I've never had a home remedy work so well before. What a relief!

My 2 year old son and I had a bad case of stomach cramps which turned into 3 days of watery diarrhea every 30 min or so or everytime we ate or drank anything. I checked this site for remedies and tried Apple Cider Vinegar(ACV) (I already had in my cabinet) mixed with water.
I mixed 2 tsp ACV in about 20 oz. of water. I smelled it in the glass and knew it would be hard to get my 2 year old to drink this!! I poured half into a glass for me to drink. I poured the other half into a sippy cup, opened up one of those take-along flavored pouches you shake into bottled water (hard to describe & not use a brand name)and used about half the pouch to flavor his ACVwater in the sippy cup. I did this a few times, maybe every 2 hours, each time using less flavor to make sure he was getting the ACV. It's been about 4 hours and neither of us has gone to the bathroom. It may be early but I'm gona call it and say this remedy actually worked.
