The Hot ACV & Honey Remedy

For acute laryngitis, this soothing warm drink helps coat the throat and reduce inflammation quickly.

How to Prepare:

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of raw honey.
  • Stir into a glass containing 4–6 ounces of hot water.
  • Stir until the honey is completely dissolved and drink in fast sips.

Standard Daily Tonic Method

If you prefer a simpler approach or wish to use ACV as a preventative measure for vocal health, use the following dilution:

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of organic ACV into a standard glass of water.
  • Consume this mixture 3 times a day until your voice returns.

Why Apple Cider Vinegar Helps the Voice

Laryngitis is often caused by vocal cord inflammation due to infection or overuse. ACV supports recovery through multiple pathways:

  • pH Balancing: Helps create an environment less hospitable to pathogenic bacteria.
  • Mucus Thinning: The acidity of the vinegar helps cut through thick phlegm that can interfere with vocal cord vibration.
  • Biofilm Support: ACV may assist in breaking down microbial biofilms in the throat that contribute to persistent irritation.

Expected Results Timeline

Most readers report feeling a noticeable improvement in throat comfort and vocal clarity within 24 hours of beginning the protocol. If symptoms persist beyond 48 hours without change, it is important to rest the voice completely and consult a professional.

2026 Tips for Best Results

  • Choose the Right ACV: Always use raw, organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar "with the mother" for the necessary enzymatic activity.
  • Voice Rest: While ACV helps the tissue, physical rest is essential. Avoid whispering, as this can strain the vocal cords more than normal speaking.
  • Hydration: Continue drinking plain water alongside your ACV tonic to keep the vocal mucosal lining hydrated.

I felt terrible for two days...on the second day I woke up and I was hoarse. I gargled with unfiltered apple cider vinegar and kept it in my mouth as long as I could stand it, then I gagged and spit it out! I said outloud" man, that taste was terrible! " but I then realized my hoarseness was gone and felt much better-especially after brushing my teeth. It is great for sore throats also.

Last week I had a sinus infection which led to laryngitis. Sinus infections are always miserable, and it was even worse because I couldnt even speak and I had an audition (singing) just a few days ago. Determined to be well by the time my audition rolled around, I drank a few glasses of hot tea a day (typically Earl Grey) with lemon, honey, and cinnamon- this was mostly for temporary relief of congestion. Between the tea I would drink water or some juice with vitamin C. And of course I also had a little ACV every morning. These things combined with rest, lots of coughing, and saying out loud "This is making me feel better" after every glass got my voice back (and my head clear) in 3 days, just in time for my audition. [I did even better than I thought, in case you were wondering ;)]. ACV and a positive attitude will do right by you every time.

I am a professional singer with reflux laryngytis. I have tried 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar 3x a day, yesterday for the first time. I already did see a small improvement. My question is what time of day should i take the acv in water? before a meal, after a meal?.. also any other recommendations to improve this "lump" in my throat? the prescription medicines didn't improve my situation drastically. thanks

I've found a couple remedies. The 1st is 2 tbsp ACV, 1 tbsp Honey, about 4-6 oz HOT water. Mix & stir till the honey is completely disolved/mixed in. Down if you can or drink fast sips.

The 2nd is a "tea". 1 tbsp Cocnut oil, 1 tbsp Honey, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, a large mug of filtered HOT water. I warmed mine up in the microwave to make sure it was hot enough to disolve the oil & honey.
