I have been suffering from hot flashes and night sweats for almost a year. The hot flashes were so severe that I found myself avoiding situations because I might flash and sweat profusely. Also being extremely self conscious of what my body was doing felt like I was becoming introverted. The doc prescribed effexor but I was determined to find a natural alternative.

I read on your site about using the Apple Cider Vinegar. I have used it for 5 days, just generic and OMgosh..... I have gone from flashing for up to 2 minutes at a time every hour with extreme sweating and facial flushing, not being able to sleep through the night and sweating non stop to about 4 flashes a day, minimal facial flushing and sweating and night sweats? Haven't had them for 3 nights and I've slept like a baby.

Thank you so much for posting the info on ACV. I am finally starting to feel confident and comfortable again.

If the apple cider vinegar doesn't work for hot flashes try Lydia Pinkham herbal tablets they really work! And have worked for generations! And for me they stopped nervousness! But it takes about two weeks for the tablets to be effective. Don't stop taking them. Most pharmacies carry them or can order them for you or you can order them from the internet.

I recently turned 45 and started having hot flashes every hour about two months ago. They were making me miserable during the day and keeping me up at night. I tried taking Estroven and it made me sooooo sick! I figured I'd look into black cohosh, etc. , but I was hoping to go with something a little simpler and with less side effects, at least for now. I considered trying ACV for other things, but I can't tolerate the taste. I ordered ACV 450 mg capsules (well-known brand, few additives). I have been taking two capsules twice a day (with food) and after about four days, I am now having 3-4 mild flashes throughout the day! I'll continue taking them and hope to also reap some of the other beniefits that ACV is known for.

Thanks for this fantastic site. I am 53 years old and not had flashes before till last week. Went out and bought ACV (not even organic as this is hard to get in my country) and took 2 tablespoons morning and evening in water. Flashes down to one or two mild ones per day. Unbelievable as did not see how I could bear that horrible feeling of burning And sweating throughout my body. Telling anyone who cares to listen about ACV for hot flashes.

I was having 10-20 hot flashes daily. Read about ACV helping. I cannot stand the taste or smell so I went to health food store and purchased the pills. It has been 3 weeks since I take 1 pill per day and I am down to maybe one flash per day that is very mild. Thank you so much for your website and advise. It has changed my life for the better.....

Menopause came on like a hurricane 5 months ago and the hot flashes were soaking me 8-10 times a day. I tried taking 2 tbs. of ACV in the morning and 2 tbs. At night in a glass of water - after gagging it down, decided I would rather deal with the hot flashes. Skip ahead a couple of weeks of waking up 4-5 times soaked every night and realized I could not deal with them!

I resolved to try the AVC again. This time I used 1 tbs. In a small glass of orange juice in a.m. and p.m. After only 2 days I started seeing a difference. At night, I've been getting a bit overheated but just kicking the covers off for a few minutes will cool me down. I haven't had a single soaking hot flash for the past few days. It has now been 1 week and I am totally hot flash free! I will continue to take this magic drink until I'm post menopausal. Thanks for all of your information - it has truly changed my life!

I just want to CRY - I am having hot flashes that last 2 to 10 mins every half an hour. I no longer know what sleep is. When I found this site I was so excited. I called my wonderful hubby and told him and he brought home 2 bottles of ACV - both organic, believing it would be better for me. Well, the first time I tried this I had an instant hot flash and then got the chills. I was able to sleep about 2 hours straight. So I thought - it will take time. I will stick to it. Now it's 2 weeks later and and it's as if I'm taking nothing.

I'm so desperate - I don't know what to do. ACV it's helping (with or with out the baking soda) that estroven isn't helping, evening primrose, wild yam, black cohosh, nothing so far. where do I turn. I'm now begging for help.

I have found all of your insights to be wonderful. I started taking 2 Tbs of ACV with 1 Tbs of honey today and have not seen a difference yet. I had been taking HRT till my insurance company decided that I did not need it anymore and would not fill my presc. I am desperate and have tried all other things. I am grateful for this site and wish all luck on this horrible journey of menopause.

Try sage tea. I grow it and just pluck a few leaves every day and put them in hot water usually with green tea. It takes a few weeks but you will feel it kick in and the HFs will reduce. You could also try MACA - about a heaped teaspoon a day of good quality product. There is info for both of these supporting use for HFs. In general, Vitamin D daily makes a difference and all the oils - EPO, fish oil etc. You need phytoestrogens from food or if they are still bad, get some hormonal treatment. The HFs could also be due to a thyoid condition so get that checked. Taking plenty of magnesium will help your sleep. All these things have worked for me. The HFs do pass. I have tried the ACV off and on but I have not seen any impact on the flushes. Good luck with it.

Actsup2: it seems as if your Liver/Gallbladder function is amiss. Try taking some Milk Thistle or "Milk Thistle Complex" or "Liver Complex". NOW Foods has a very comprehensive Liver Formula that has got lots of good reviews. The Amino Acid Methionine (which might be found in the Liver Formula) is recommended for women's hormonal issues as it supports Liver detox and Lipid Metabolism. An even more effective form of Methionine is SAM-e (but cost is much higher). Drinking Lemon Water is also effective in promoting "Bile Flow" or improved digestion (which seems to be your problem).

YEA--I read the comments about ACV working for hot flashes. Tried it 2 nights (1 TBSPN ACV--with the mother in 8 ounces of water), and the horrible hot flashes that have been around for 4 years (waking up 3 times a night) are completely gone. This site is amazing!

I had terrible night sweats for about 3 months and was very irritable during the day due to little sleep. I tried this remedy first with regular apple cider vinegar without results. It took about 5 days on the Mother kind and WOW I sleep like a baby. I also take estroven nighttime and I believe this combo is a winner. Try both you have nothing to lose.

Four days ago I was feeling quite desperate, even though I had searched the internet for help with hot flashes before I was suffering. I did not find ACV before. My hot flashes were coming about every two hours and lasting about 30 minutes. They were severe. After reading several testimonials, I got up went to the kitchen and looked to see if I even had any. Well as the powers that be are always lookin out for me there just happened to be a 1/2 gallon in the refrigerator.

I thanked God for the internet and ACV and took my first dose. They eased off immediately, only to disappear altogether by the next afternoon. Thanks everyone for sharing and good luck to you all. Keep spreading the word. Oh one more thing.... My legs feel better also and I havent had any feeling in three of my toes on my right foot for 3 to 4 years...... I can feel my toes the numbness is almost completely gone. Can I say the ACV made that happen???? I think so......

i really love this site, I was at my wits end with hot flashes, when I came across this site. I had tried everything from prescriptions to just dealing with them. I cannot take the over the counter stuff out for hot flashes because of the soy in them. I am estrogen receptive for breast cancer, so all I could really do was deal with them. When I read about apple cider vinegar helping with them I tried it and to my suprise it worked!!!! Right away. I have been on it for about 2 weeks, and they are almost down to none. The ones I do have are really light, I can handle them. And sleep at night!!!!! Yea! Thanks for this site!!! I would never had thought to try apple cider vinegar. Thank you

Started using Apple cider vinegar supplement capsules as I hate the taste of Apple Cider Vinegar. Have been taking 3 in the morning and 3 at night. Hot flashes are practically gone.

This is amazing! So simple and so effective. I'll be 50 soon and started having hot flashes about a year ago. Over the past month, they came much more often. Not terribly severe, but annoying and uncomfortable, especially when they happened throughout the night. As soon as I read this, I took 1 tablespoon of store-bought apple cider vinegar. It burned a bit going down for a few seconds, but was fine after that. Sometimes I take another tablespoon later in the evening. I always eat some food first. The miraculous results: no more hot flashes!!! Been taking it for over a week now... No hot flashes. It also fixed some mild heartburn I had started to experience. Yay!!!!! Try it... And spread the word!

This site is absolutely the best! I'm in menopause and for the most part have had hot flashes under control through use of Chinese herbs and something called Phyto-B. But over the past few days they started to come back with a vengence. I checked here and discovered the ACV cure and tried it (two doses yesterday and one this morning). The flashes that were starting to keep me up all night completely disappeared and I slept really well last night. Will see if it continues, but so far so good!

Also, I do have serious issues with dental enamel, so am adding 1/4 tsp baking soda and then immediately rinsing my mouth with an extra swish of baking soda in water.

Thanks to everyone here who contributes to making this such a great site!

When I found this site yesterday I was amazed at all the testamonials, so I tried the ACV and my hot flashes are almost completely gone! Thank you all for taking the time to share this information!! Like some of you, I am concerned about the amount of acid I'm ingesting. I think I'll try some baking soda in a couple of days. I take 2 Tbsp in a glass of flavored water which isn't too bad, but I also worry about that much aspartame, so I may go back to honey or stevia.

I have been using ACV for all kinds of remedies. I am 50 and had my last child at 45 yrs of age which caused a serge of hormones to go crazy! I had acne bumps on my face, my hair was falling out, I was constantly hungry. I found out about ACV at that time and it worked great! I don't like the taste, so I only use it for curbing my hunger when I really need to lose a few lbs. I have used it on my face to clear it up. Not pleasant at all! If you can stand some red on your face for awhile, it will clear it up. I also use it all the time for any kind of itch. I am starting the drinking again, I just pour a little in a tall glass. I don't use the baking soda, cannot understand why anyone would do that??? The vinegar is actually less acid than our stomach lining. I was told this by a holistic practitioner in our town. I am getting HF all day long and am hoping ACV will help.

WORKED TEMPORARILY

I got great relief from hot flashes with morning and before-bed dosing of 1 Tbs ACV, sweetened with about 1 tsp pure maple syrup which is easier to mix into about 2-3 ounces of water (don't take it straight! Burns the esophagus over time) followed immediately with a gulp of straight purified water, which I swallow to protect esophagus, and then next gulp is swished around my teeth to prevent enamel decay before swallowing. Only problem was drinking all this before bed made me wake to pee throughout the night.

Problems occurred when I stopped taking it for about two weeks (after many months of faithful dosing). Getting it to work again has been the problem!!!

I tried for over a month and nothing! Anybody got any ideas?

There should be no burning effect. The correct way told by Ted, is 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (the natural one from health food store), with 1/4 tsp baking soda in a glass of water. Let it sit for five minutes or a little longer, than drink it down. This is the alkalizing formula. This stopped my crazy making hot flashes in two days no more hot flashes. Hired a natural plant based bioidentical hormone specialist as well.
