Pomegranate Juice

Freshly made Pomegranate juice is a miracle cure for diarrhea. Make u drain out juice after juicing. Instead of juicing you can crush seeds in your mouth, take in juice and spit out seeds. That is what I liked to do since had no energy for juicing at that time. You can eat a porridge of tapioca root. Combination pomegranate and tapioca root works wonders.

Post-Diarrhea Diet
Posted by Alex (Albuquerque, New Mexico Usa) on 03/17/2013
Now that I have a bout with diarrhea sort of under control, what do I eat? When and how much etc, I am starved but concerned of a relapse. I am trying to understand gut flora, and such. I am 78 and this is the first encounter with diarrhea that has lasted now more than a month. All my life I've claimed a 'cast iron stomach' and could eat and drink any thing, no problem. Thanks Alex

Potatoes

I frequently get diarrhea, which has so far been put down to IBS. I often resorted to taking diarrhea pills, but felt I was taking them much too often, and was worried about long-term effects.
Then by chance, I found that whenever I ate boiled potatoes it cleared up quickly. If I make sure that I eat them with a meal every day then I suffer a lot less regularly.

Probiotics
Posted by Deenbert (Ocala FL) on 04/27/2026
Hubby's super tough head cold that went into a chest cough, spread to me, racking entire torso. Had oral surgery coming up soon and couldn't afford to cough or sneeze. Dr. prescribed amox-claud for us, a nasty side effect plagued antibiotic, commonly causing diarrhea and often causing C. Diff. Hubby only had a couple days of diarrhea. I was already on day 7 of being joined to the toilet. Came here, read submissions and decided to start taking my cat's probiotics and prebiotics (she has IBS and it helps her a lot), a few times a day and also threw in some Colustrum chews. Fixed me up quickly! Used Saccharomyces Boulardi + MOS and a combination Acidophalus & Bifidus from Amazon. Got the Colustrum chews from the local Vitamin Shoppe. Also ate plain unsweetened Greek yogurt with live cultures (be sure to read the label; only a few brands say they have live cultures) for breakfast.

Chronic diarrhea:
I used ACV and grinder tablets. I also used turmeric tablet. I went to my pharmacy and asked him what to do. He went to his refrigerator and got a probiotic and sold it to me. It contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis and Bifidobacterium longum. I suffered with diarrhea for years on and off. I do not have it now. I take 1 tablet 2 times a week. I am glad to be done with it.

Psyllium Husk

I suffered from chronic diarrhea and painful gas for two months after taking a 10-week course of Prevacid (a ppi). Stopping the medication didn't help and eating a simpler diet didn't help. I started taking a teaspoon of psyllium husk in a glass of water every day. Within 48 hours the diarrhea and most of the gas were gone. I plan to continue with the psyllium for a while. Thank goodness for small miracles!

I ate something that my body didn't like and immediately got diarrhea that lasted for two weeks. I tried many other suggestions on here that didn't work including 2 Tbs ACV, even though it has worked before, but eating one radish stopped it!!!! I read that the radish is a super food and good for digestion It has so many other benefits too. It was my miracle cure! Look it up!

My young baby daughter got really bad diarrhoea when I was in Europe. The doctor told me to boil rice and the gluggy water that was left after boiling the rice to add it to her milk bottle I added a quarter milk and filled the bottle with rice water. She was happy as she had her bottle, next day she was better two days she was fine.

This is the home remedy my mother always used for diarrhea: Boil one ounce of rice to one quart of water for twenty minutes, then strain and drink.

2 1/2 cups water, 1 cup rice. Prepare rice using above measurements, do not add salt to rice while cooking. After 15 minutes the rice will be soupy. Drain off the excess water from rice and drink Rice Water warm. If diarrhea persist after 4 hours, drink more rice water.
Sesame Seeds

I love this site where I have found many alternative cures. For diarrhea, I toast in a pan, at low heat, two tablespoons of sesame seeds, when they are lightly toasted, I add a cup of water to the seeds, let them boil for three minutes, and then let them cool. Then I put through a strainer and drink the liquid. It helps without fail to stop the diarrhea. But, if you ate something bad, let the stomach clean itself for a day, then take the sesame seeds tea. Hope it helps.

I am diabetic and for some reason not clear to me, eating too much, but also clearly a side effect of metformin, gives me bad diarrhea. This simple remedy is great to stop it.
I toast two tablespoons of sesame seeds when they are a little brown, and yes they pop! Then add half a glass of water. Boil for a minute or two, cool off, pass through a colander, and drink.
One time I had the seeds with me, but couldn't toast them, so I just ate them. It worked too!

Hi One remedy I have used consistently since childhood is one I learnt from my mother. Its a simple South-Indian remedy.
Heat 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds in a pan till it starts popping. Once it starts popping nicely and starts giving out smoke, add half glass of water and let it boil for a few minutes. Cool and filter the liquid. Drinking this pale yellow liquid has been the most effective cure for diarhhea that I have seen. You can repeat it once more.
