Vitamin E, Lavender Oil

Lichen Sclerosus: Based on some of the suggestions on this site, I began using vitamin E oil and certified pure therapeutic grade Lavender oil on the affected area and all symptoms have stopped. Lavender oil has analgesic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, to name a few. I have had LS since puberty but was misdiagnosed until 3 years ago. No cure and steroids are a no-go for me so management is my focus. Symptoms vary based on diet, exercise, and hormones, though this combo seems to be working well so far. I may try the purple emu oil in the future or possibly make an essential oil combination using lavender, melaleuca (tea tree), and oregano. Thanks to the makers of this site! It helps a lot!

I started using Essiac Tonic a few days ago. My symptoms have gotten so much better already. I'm also taking/eating probiotics and taking slippery elm & marshmallow root to heal my gut (I think I have a leaky gut and it causes my LS). I'm also on low-oxalate gluten-free diet. I really do think that Essiac Tonic will cure my LS, combined with proper diet.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Lavender Oil

Hi, I have had Lichen Sclerosus (LS) most of my life, it was finally diagnosed 2 years ago and I had surgery 1 year ago. It helped alot. I have tried apple cidar vinegar, it helps a lot, I also will drink it! This is a life savor. I have recenlty found that applying lavender essential oils made thy itching stop immediately! Try a spot to make sure it doesn't burn. It did not burn me, but was slightly warm. It did not cause any other yeast infections or BV at all, which I was worried about. I am one of those weird people who get both at the same time. Try it! It helped a lot!!!

Hello, thanks to all of you for the many comments and helpful suggestions re. L.C. I am 60 yrs old and have been diagnosed 3 years ago with L.C.

I read and re-read many of your suggestions and for the last 4 days I have had some relief with the following suggestions: 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup white vinegar in bath and soak for 15min. It has cut down on itching and I'm less inflammed.

Zinc oxide seems to work on decreasing redness and itching ( applying 2x a day) However is it OK to use continually on vaginal tissue?

Also applying cold water after each time I urinate. Started Essiac tea but too soon to access. Thanks, Moira, N.Y.

Essential Oils

Hello, I am thinking I may have LS just because of the symptoms I am experiencing. Can all of the essential oils be used in conjunction with one another? Also would Vitamin E oil work as well?

Vaginal Medication Link to Ls
Posted by Katy (New York) on 10/10/2013

Carol... Not sure exactly what you have tried or if you read thru the other posts on the site. I can only suggest what I has worked for one of my clients who had it. I had her use infused oregano oil 3 to 4 drops under the tongue, twice daily. I also suggested making a vaginal douche consisting of 50% apple cider vinegar, 50% distilled water with a healthy tablespoon of plain yogurt mixed in. This will be very soothing as well as help the tissues to heal. Diet is also a concern as I'm sure you know and I'm sure you've talked with her about diet, but it is important - getting her to stay away from sugar may be a challenge, but it is necessary.

With her diet, if she can get a lot of probiotics into her from yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut (it's got to be fresh - not canned, bottled - pasturized), also kombucha is a good source. Hope she finds relief soon! Katy

My daughter has been suffering with LS she is 12 and has had it for some time. I didn't use the steroid creams but now I am as fear it has progressed. It is very itchy and lots of discomfort. We had tried holistic treatments and herbs and acupuncture as well. I am very interested in the light therapy where do you go to get that? Where do they use the light exactly? Please help. Thank you

Anti-Candida Diet

★☆☆☆☆

This is in regard to Lichen Sclerosis:

I see where some say that a candida diet or taking Essia Tea will be of help, but I don't believe it for one minute. I have had no sugar for 6 months with very little bread and have been on a strict anti candida diet for 3 months (no nothing) along with drinking that tea and I just got LS.

Eliminating Wheat
Posted by Effingham (USA) on 09/03/2013

Well, it is 2013... Just wanted to let everyone know, I have managed this disease very well with the "Curezone". After careful research and self experiments... I must agree with Suzzie from Oregon. I have read Wheat Belly, but realized this before the release of the book. Found out that eating GMO chips (corn) would send my LS through the roof. I also noticed other products - milk, breads.. They all have in common the GMO.. Round up toxified stuff. I made an honest effort to stop all these and my symptoms clear up. I rarely use the curezone, unless I eat these poisonous foods. Check out all the research on "hyperimmune" and "autoimmune" also "genetic transfer" of the altered DNA in GMO's.. Which could cause permanent changes in our DNA in turn which constantly triggers above responses. Stop the insanity of this food. Why is it that other countries outlaw it but not the USA. This has to be the culprit like the "immune" issues the Bee's are presenting with... Food for thought. Peace.

I have had LS for 6 years, following severe physical trauma and mental anguish. I am athyroid, a thyroid cancer survivor. Part of my labia is gone, eaten away. The clitoris is covered by fused labia minora. I have been using Clobestiral and hormone cream every other day. I still have outbreaks of red, thin and itchy skin with bleeding. White patches come and go. Now, I am having deep pelvic pain where my ovaries used to be. Had a total hysterectomy for severe endometriosus 30 yrs. ago. I have no orgasmic response, but do get aroused to some extent. I do not eat wheat, drink coffee and avoid sugar. I try to use all natural products. I can't tolerate underwear. I am miserable and the Dr. says "see you in a year."

Have had LS for last six years. Severe pain and itching. Some days could hardly walk. I starting using cold water in a sitz bath every day what a relief. Every time I urinated poured cold water from tap overVJ. Also take evening primrose oil two or three a day. At night open a gel cap of the oil put on VJ. I am 90% better. I have tried everything. Cold Water is working for me.

I use pawpaw ointment. It stops the itch immediately. It won't cure the LS but it makes the pain and itch go away immediately.

I have has LS for 5 years now and I'm only 16 years old. So far no doctor has been able to figure out a cure to LS. I've done my own experiments and I've been using Shea Butter for 3 years and I rarely have flare ups or any itching. Though I notice I have more discharge but it's worth not having unbearable itching.

Eliminating Wheat

Eating Wheat was what was causing my Lichen Sclerosus symptoms. The symptoms I had was shrinking labia minor, horrible drive me crazy itching of my clitoris and the area to the entrance to my vagina was not supple at all and was painfully tight. When I quit eating wheat, the itching completely stopped after about a week. (It may take longer for someone else to experience total relief, as the effects of wheat can stay in the body for 6 months) After a month off Wheat, the tissue in my labia minor has started to plump up again and the entrance to my vagina is now supple and stretches like it should. No more pain!!! Halleluiah!

I encourage everyone to read the book "Wheat Belly" by William Davis MD. Modern Wheat has an inflammatory effect on the body, whether you feel the symptoms or not. There is a myriad of diseases that disappear when wheat is eliminated from the diet. Modern Wheat has more in it than just the gluten that causes allergies and doctors do not test for these. Even whole wheat bread (thought to be healthier than white bread) will raise your blood sugar higher than eating a candy bar! There is an episode of Dr. Oz where they showed this is true. This is true even if the bread is made from organic wheat.

To add to the inflammatory effect on the body of Wheat, here in the United States, 90% of the wheat (including corn, soy and canola) produced is "RoundUp Ready". (Only a few years ago that number was 60%) It has roundup poison molecule inserted into the grain so the fields can be sprayed to kill only the weeds. Then the whole field is sprayed with RoundUp, which is absorbed into the crop adding more poison which is later ingested by animals and people. In the US they do not have to label any food that is GM. Every time it goes to vote the industry uses scare tactics about the cost of food going up as a result of new labeling laws. This is simply not true. Many grocery prices have doubled in the past 5 years regardless. You can't put a price on our health, because the alternative is costly for sure! * * * I believe we are already seeing the health consequences from these genetically modified foods, but we can't yet prove it is due to them. I think we are going to see more illnesses that used to be rare, and see new unexplained illnesses due to GM RoundUp ready foods.

Witch Hazel
Posted by Georgina (Tolmie, Victoria, Australia) on 03/04/2013

I don't know about the Essiac Tea but I recently read on a Lichen Sclerosa Forum about Witch Hazel. The writer had felt that in someway her urine was to blame for her symptoms. I had had some similar thoughts so decided to follow her advice.

For the past week I have been drying myself, after having a pee, with a tissue, and then wiping myself with a tissue with some Witch Hazel on it. The effect has been quite dramatic. No more itching or soreness at all.

Is it possible, I wonder, that there is some toxic reason for the urine to affect the vulva so badly. All one gets from the medical profession is that Lichen Sclerosa is believed to be an auto-immune system breakdown. That seems to be their answer for anything they don't have an answer for.

In closing I should say that I don't believe my Lichen Sclerosa to be a really bad version of the complaint although I have had it for the past ten years. If I can stop using the Diprosone Ointment by using Witch Hazel I shall be well pleased.

Last year I had my first flare up of Lichen Sclerosis, I didn't know that's what it was till I got it back this year in early February. I'm not interested in using steroid creams so I researched alternative treatments and came across Essiac Tea. I followed the instructions, it is now early March and it is almost gone. I also used homeopathic remedies to ease the itch, inflammation and splitting. Homeopathic Graphites, Urtica-urens, Nit-ac and Apis, each in a 30c potency. Am also taking homeopathic Kreosotum and Petroleum and they are taking away the last of the splits and itching. Hope this helps anyone suffering this awful affliction, feel free to message me. Xx

Anti-Candida Diet
Posted by Tina (Sydney, Nsw Australia) on 12/02/2012

I was originally dianosed with Lichen Sclerosis in the late 80s (my early 20's) with extreme redness, swelling and white stripes on my labia minora. Treatment with cortisone via skin specialist was painful and did nothing. A naturopath put me on a Candida diet which we extended to wheat free whilst also using homemade golden seal pessaries nightly. In 9 months I had lost about 10kg (healthy weight for me) and all symptoms. My skin in that area has been thinner since and prone to minor splits, usually during times of stress and my periods. I'm not sure if it's related but I have also developed 4-5 largish subserosal amd pendunculated subserosal fibroids (up to 11cm) in the last 5 years.

Recently I have had a flare up of intense itching in the crease areas of the groin, also due to stress and can easily remove skin if I scratch even firmly. I will get it checked but am looking at the original solution to deal with it. I'm also looking at Red clover tea and will report what happens.

Hi Daisy, I ordered essiac tea, which I will brew at home, and it should be here this coming week. I hope it will work as well as the tea tonic, which I didn't see on the Internet. If this works, you will have found a very elusive cure and many people will finally find some relief from these miserable autoimmunes. I have tried every lead that seems plausible for ten years and I'm so excited to try this! Thank you, Daisy, for posting your experience on EC. I hope we get a bunch of success stories!

Essiac Tea
Posted by Daisy (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) on 11/25/2012

I would treat it like a detox and only take it a few times a year. A bottle of drops lasts me about 2 weeks. When taking it I feel great... I even get a zing in my step. But I wouldn't take it every day all year long. Just a few times a year to reclean and purify your body and blood. Again, if you do take it and it works or doesn't work let me know. If it doesn't work, than I know it was a miracle I was healed and I will quit telling people about Essaic. If it does work than we can let everyone know it really works. I have yearly appts. Now with my doctor and she doesn't know I am cured. I can't wait for my appt and bring the bottle of Essaic Tonic Tea with me.

I buy mine from a [local] health food store. It is also sold online by different people who sell it. Usually health food stores have it and it is in the detox section of the store. I live Hawaii where everything is shipped in so, I purchase it for about $25 a bottle. I plan on taking this 3 times a year. Next year, I will buy a bottle in March, July and then in November.

Joni, it is made from different plants. It is an old native american cure and people are claiming it shrinks tumors. Its so gently you can use it on your animals. Chemotheraphy patients are using it along with thier Chemo. It comes in all forms... Powder... Pills... Liquid... I prefer liquid... I have a hard time swallowing pills. I hope it works for others. It is wonderful not being itchy especially at night. I have some scaring on my wrists but all other scars have healed. If this doesn't cure others... than I have received a miracle from God.

Hi Daisy, The only type of Essiac I've seen is in a powder form for making a tea. You said your product is in liquid form. Is this a tincture? How wonderful this has cured you!

Essiac Tea
Posted by Daisy (Ewa Beach, Hi) on 11/19/2012

I took the whole bottle, I was cured within a few days of taking it but took the whole bottle of non alcohol formula. I really stress this because the alcohol one tastes God awful. Anyway, read about the benefits on the internet. I bought the liquid kind. 40 drops on an empty stomach in the a. M. And 40 drops on an empty stomach in the pm. I really want someone esle to try to see if it cures them too! I was diagnosised through a doctor and told and prescribed all the same stuff as anyone else. Essaic Tonic Tea purfies the blood, cleans the organs even the lungs and is a parasite killer too! Again, I took this not intentionally trying to cure my LS but I am cured. I haven't had a break out since this year June and no longer use any creams.

Hi Daisy, Can you tel us how long you took the essiac tea tonic and how many times a day did you take it? How many drops? You are the first person who has ever been cured of LS that I have seen. I have Lichen Planus and have been trying to cure it for almost ten years. My doctor and dentist admit they don't understand the disease. Mine is all internal and systemic, no skin outbreaks.

I have been trying Lisa's suggestion for water kefir for about a month and I think it is good for the whole body. I have ordered some essiac tea with high hopes, and passed your tip along to others with LP. I am praying this works for me and others. Thank you so much for posting!

I had Lichen Sclerosus and was misdiagnosed for a year. I got it under control by steroid creams but it was not gone. For a reason I don't need to go into, I bought someone a detox liquid called Essaic Tonic Tea (nonalcohol) and they didn't want it. So not to waste my money, I used the whole bottle and was cured! I told my friend with Lupus and she takes it and it is making her feel better. It is a miracle the way this stuff works. Its all natural and won't hurt you. I don't sell it, you have to go to a natual health food store and buy the nonalcohol formula.

Zinc Oxide
Posted by Sydney (Richmond, Virginia/usa) on 11/10/2012

I have had LS for 18 years. I have tried everything my doctor has suggested and had it under control for many years. About 1 1/2 years ago I had a flare up that has persisited. I am burning and itching. I can no longer use the prescription medications. I have tried Perrins products which helped at first but are no longer giving any relief. I am considering other options such as Emuaid and the Zinc Oxide powder or Scar-Zone mentioned above. I have tried Desitin which contains zinc oxide, in the past however, and am wondering if I need to even try to zinc oxide products. Can someone tell me if there is a significant difference? Has anyone tried the Emuaid?

Also, for immediate, calming relief there is a product which is mixed with water and used as a compress. It is available at most drug stores and is similar to the vinegar idea. I have used this for years with flare ups.

I believe the Lichen Sclerosus is a yeast/fungal infection and can also be a Thyroid problem. My family uses Essential Oil of Thieves, Ocotea, Oregano... To name a few that are antifungal oils and do no harm to the body. Myrrh oil is also GREAT for the Thyroid. Please do not try using oils that are not pure... Know the company you purchase from and make sure they are pure. Fungus disappears when the oils are used.

I was diagnosed with LS two years ago. Pure essential lavender oil in the bath has helped me, and also Perrin's cream. Attention to diet, and cutting right back on sugar and yeast products has also helped. I agree that this is a horrible disease, and sometimes I can't believe I have it, but does anyone know how much research is going on to find a cure? What have we all got in common that would trigger this in us?
