03/30/2009: Dee from Charleston, SC replies: "I am drinking ACV for my reflux and it has worked. However, I started following an alkaline diet on Saturday. I tested my urine to check my PH level. It was a 5.2 and Satrday night it was 5.5. On Sunday (this morning) I checked and it was still 5.5. I continued on the alkaline diet all day today and just checked my ph level and it is 6.0 (I also drank one glass of acv). Therefore, I am drinking acv, smart water, and following the alkaline diet. I hope to be at 7.0-7.5 in a few days, if not sooner. You cannot eat meat and other acid type foods when attempting to alkaline your body. Look up the acid-alkaline food charts."
[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS]  08/09/2010: William from Sansown, Iow Uk replies: "Hi, Reading from another website a while ago, I tried 50ml plus 1 Tsp of bicarb. After three days I noticed that my knee pain had lessened, but I was also suffering fron chronic constipation. Fearing to damage my gut flora I stopped untill things normalised again. I shall now try the slow lane with 1 tbs of Apple Cider Vinegar and a quarter of bicarb. We'll see what happens. Like with everything else, you have to think and not just do. Cheers, Bill"

[QUESTION]  03/04/2009: Gena from Escondido, CA writes: "I would like some help here, if possible. My elderly dad who cannot speak has been on Prilosec for a couple years now. there are lots of ugly side effects. I am going to try the ACV and baking soda because it seems to work for so many people BUT! Since he cannot tell me (until it is too late and he is in pain and throwing up) give me a clue as to what I can do here:

1. give the ACV / baking soda daily (sips all day)
2. after what duration of time can I stop the Prilosec to see if it is working or he is healed of this condition?
3. OR....do I just stop the Prilosec cold turkey and keep letting him sip the ACV / baking soda mixture all day and that should solve this problem?

We HAVE to get off the Prilosec (and meds like this that suppress the stomach acid) as the side effect for my dad has been continual bacterial pneumonia (almost every month now). !!!

So, please anyone have an idea how to proceed since he is unable to talk/tell me how he is feeling until it is too late. Help??"

03/10/2009: Wini from Waimea, Hawaii replies: "1 to 2 TBLS of Apple Cider Vinegar per cup of water depending on how much you can handle. You can add raw natural honey for taste. Honey adds minerals that are needed for healing. If you are taking ACV for acid reflux, nausea or gas then it is best to have it with just water. My entire family has done these remedies from chilhood on to cure the flu, common cold, broncitis, constipation and sinus problems. "
05/22/2009: Noby from Arkansas, US replies: "I sympathise with your dilema, it's hard having a parent that doesn't feel well and even harder when they cannot communicate certain things. I had severe acid reflux due to the sleeping pill I was taking. Apple cider did help during the time I took it. Stopping the pills made it go away. Oddly enough I also get acid from Omega three so stopping that also helped. Perhaps look over your dads medication and or diet to see what could be triggering it. If alkalzing is what helps with the acid reflux you could many try using barley powder or get alkalizing minerals that might be more gentle on the stomache.

Good luck"
05/24/2009: Susan from Queensland, Australia replies: "I originally found this site looking for a cure for acid reflux, heartburn, gas problems. Tried ACV, it only made it worse. The best was Ted's Lemon and Baking Soda with water formula and the Living Green Drink. Since taking this regularly, my stomach problems have settled completely. The key is definitely alkalising. Google acid/alkaline food charts and read up on it, it makes sense. For the Green Drink just whizz a handful of mixed salad leaves with water in a blender and drink. It doesn't taste bad, like a liquid salad. Make up a litre in the morning and sip throughout the day. It is not going to do any harm to try him on it. Good Luck, and many many thanks to the lady who submitted The Living Green Drink recipe. White bread and white sugar give me reflux and heartburn."

EC: Ted's lemon and baking soda alkalizing formula is here.

Here's the original post for the Living Green Drink.

05/24/2009: Archie Ferrarini from West Covina, California replies: "I have found through intensive studies that acid is neutralized by acid.In short, for the times you feel a need for a antacid, try this, take a samll bite of a pepperchini or other hot pepper. It should stop the "burn" feeling and it is healthy and has worked for many many people."
05/30/2010: Johnnie from Apple Valley, Ca replies: "You're right, bell peppers help me out with acid reflux."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  02/01/2009: Mary from Khartoum, Sudan writes: "ACID REFLUX: I have tried ACV+Baking soda for a week. I don't feel any better, I feel very sick. After the first dose (1/4 ts soda+ 2 tbs ACV in a cup of water), next morning I woke up very tired. I disregard my feelings; I thought that my body is getting rid of everything bad, I am cleaning so I continue with the same dose twice daily. I am getting worst- severe fatigue, headache, muscle pain, fever (up to 38), cough, very congested, sore throat. I believe that all diseases even cancer and AIDS can be treated with natural sources, and I believe that alkalizing the body is the key factor. But what is wrong with me now, shall I continue, is all this normal reactions?"

05/01/2010: Ed from Heber City, Ut replies: "I tried everything and could not get better. I started eating bananas and at night I would wake up every hour and have a bite. bananas kept my stomach busy and protected my esophagus.nights were brutal because nothing help from acid reducers, blockers, antacids, teas, apples etc. I tried everything, but the bananas were the best thing. I could fall sleep and allow my esophagus to heal."

My ailment was gone after taking 2 tbsp of ACV and 1/2 tbsp of baking soda 3x a day with a dose of 500mg of magnesium once a day for 4 days. I already stopped taking over the counter drug(omeprazole) and will continue on until my reflux is totally gone. I'm very grateful to this website and i will truly recommend it to my family and friends for them to read and try natural remedies as such."

[NAY]  05/24/2008: Frank from Niagara, Ontario writes: "I've read these pages here a few times now because I'm desperate. I've been on Nexium now for about 1 1/2 years. Losec stopped working which I was on for about 5 years before that. Now the Nexium has stopped working and anything I eat burns going down. I have an aching feeling all the way down my esophogeus. I've been basically eating bland foods just to get something in me. I've tried the ACV with baking soda for 2 weeks on and off. It doesn't seem to help. Do I have to just bite the bullit and go through the pain and just keep up. Has anyone gone through this. I also get stabbing pains in my chest but it always happens at night and it seems like I'm going to die because the pain is so severe. I've taken Aloe Vera Gel, Slippery elm. I would appreciate any feedback."

05/26/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Frank from Ontario, Sounds like you are really having a problem there with your stomach. Been there, done that -until I stumbled onto what my underlying problems was and eliminated bleached flour from my food intake. You really have to think and totally remove it because only a bite or two of anything containing bleached flour is enough to set it off. Since I eliminated bleached flour, life has been a lot more fun and less misery from the almost constant heartburn, indigestion, nausea and outright ulcer pain which is miserable. I have never been treated for pyloric helicobacter, which is now said to cause peptic ulcer disease, but I have sailed through lots of emotional & financial stress, with my "cast iron stomach" letting me continue to enjoy my black coffee (add milk & I get indigestion), my occasional "booze on the rocks", Hot sauce (including Habernara & jalapeno) on a lot of my foods without stomach distress."
05/30/2008: Lizelle from Johannesburg, South Africa replies: "In response to Frank from Ontario: Have had severe upper gastro complaints, several hospitalisations, 10 doctors and surgeons, g/scopes and colonoscopy, just to discover its a hiatus hernia causing the heart attack-like symptoms.feeling of food sticking and bloating.
Mistakenly treated for candida albicans 2x. Now 2 conflicting treatment options from surgeons, that's scary! Nexium 40mg/day not doing much. The apple cider remedy has been going for yonks, thank God! prefer to rather try this than an op. will give it a bash and check in latr. All the best to the rest of you. Thanx for this great site."
06/11/2008: Vanessa from Detroit, MI replies: "Frank, you might want to take a look at your diet and talk to your doctor. Recently, I had similar symptoms (acidic stomach, intense pain and lbm) and I was taking Nexium for 5 or 6 months, only to have to double my dosage. It seems to be that my problems were caused by low levels of b12. I had my levels checked and they were very low, once I started taking B vitamin supplements, my symptoms went away and haven't reappeared. At the time I experienced the problem I was maintaining a mostly vegetarian diet and wasn't taking any supplementary vitamins. I was also on oral contraceptives, which I've heard can leech your b vitamins over longer periods of time (but that's probably not an issue for you). Luckily, I don't have pernicious anemia and taking multi-vitamins has helped. Anyway, maybe this won't help you, but it probably wouldn't hurt to get it checked out.."
09/27/2008: Denise from Sterling Heights, MI replies: "Hi, Frank. I had the same feelings since my first pregnancy (25) years ago. I had stopped drinking milk when I was a teenager but was still eating all other dairy (butter, cream cheese, cheese, sour cream, parmesan cheese) My Mom was allergic to dairy products so she suggested that I go off all dairy (very strictly) for a month and then slowly add in one item at a time. I did and found that it was all the dairy that was causing my heart burn. Each dairy product caused something different (heartburn, diarrhea, itching) I still have problems once in a while when I ate something that I did not know was in the food. I read everything very carefully at the store and I question the waitress or waiter when I go out. I am also on Aciphex (prescription) which was the only one that helped me. I found a huge relief taking Aciphex. I will say that it helps me tremendously, along with watching food with dairy in it. I also have Barrett's esophagus, acid reflux and hiatal hernia. I get the same stabbing pains that you do, on occasion. They will be checking it again, along with my gallbladder to see if that is causing any of it. Hope this helps you."
09/29/2008: Anthony from Clarksville, Arkansas replies: "For acid refux and indigestion, a low carb took care of it. Give it a few days and it should clear right up."

12/04/2008: Donna from Klamath Falls, OR replies: "Frank, my husband had very similar symptoms. He had been fighting the night time chest pains for several years. It would wake him up anywhere from 1 to 5 hours after going to bed. He was tested for Gall Bladder which proved NEG. We began to think it could be Prinzmetals Variant Angina for which his symptoms mimicked very closely. Diagnosis for years was GERD. He found that if he kept a glass of cool water near his bed and when he had an attack he would drink the water and within 2-5 minutes his pains would completely subside. [Then he would go back to sleep and I'd be wide awake] He had many events which took him to the ER with thoughts of a MI [heart attack]. Tests for MI always proved NEG. On Memorial Day this year he had another incident that took him back to ER. This time he requested [after the hosp suggested an angiogram] a 64 slice CT scan [which is more accurate and non invasive]. The CT scan showed no heart ailment but DID show a "small sliding hiatal hernia". Looking up the symptoms of the sliding hiatal hernia, it verified his symptoms very accurately."
12/04/2008: Gean from Salina, Kansas replies: "Frank, My daughter has suffered from heart burn for 3 years, since she was 13 yrs. old. The only thing that helps is healthy, whole food diet, PLUS large amounts of acidophilus, like 30 billion per day (we get ours from Puritan's Pride). Anything that is good for the total health helps, like regular meals, exercise, water in between meals, adequate sleep, chewing your food well, etc. She has also been taking milk thistle 1000mg per day, and one kelp tablet per day."
02/17/2009: John from Tenino, WA replies: "Once my Chiropractor told me that acid reflux or acid indigestion was a result of "not enough" acid rather than too much, I use this remedy that ALWAYS works: I go and eat a few pickles and have a sip of the pickle juice from the jar. It has produced near immediate (to half hour) results. If it doesn't then I have a few more and another sip. You might recall that your grandmother might have had a little dish of pickles on the table with every meal. Apparently there's a reason for it. Hope this helps."
05/05/2010: Frank from Niagara, Ontario replies: "UPDATE!..I'm BACK!!! Its amazing that almost 2 years later I'm back looking this up. Thanks to everyone for their response. I had a scope done in August of 2008..had gall bladder test, barium test...all negative!! I started feeling better by the time my scope was done and I was fine with taking Nexium until this past couple of weeks. I've had a hard time eating again and I started out with the symtoms of uncomfortableness in my chest when food goes down. I'm eating little and I'm losing weight. I still get those agonizing chest attacks where the pain is unbearable and usually at night. The ACV treament didn't work for me but I just started again to see how it goes this time around. I think I'm just starting to see that it all has to do with various stress in my life.....to be continued...."

[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS]  03/06/2008: Janet from Anchorage, Alaska writes: "I started ACV and baking soda about two months ago it has cured my acid reflux/GERD was taking Previcid for over 20 years. My problem is I'm retaining fluids -gained almost 10# using the ACV and baking soda. Is there any other alternative in taking the ACV to continue getting the wonderful benefits without hurting your teeth? I am retaining so much fluid it's depressing. One other plus I have noticed is my hair started growing in length which it had slowed down in growing due to Adrenal Burnout. I really appreciate any advice this web site or Teb could give me. Thanks, Janet"

08/30/2009: Bryon from Escondido, Ca, USA replies: "I believe that potassium is the "sister" of sodium. Does anyone know if there is such a compound as potassium bicarbonate, or something similar that would work with potassium instead of sodium. That replacement might help the persons concerned about sodium and high blood pressure. It might also help with fluid retention?
thanks"
01/13/2010: Shinlee from Mount Vernon, Ohio replies: "Hello.

I have been taking baking soda off and on for years to soothe acid reflux. I'm wanting to do the ACV/baking soda protocol using a very well-known vinegar with the "mother" to hopefully cure the acid reflux. I don't always get heartburn until hours after eating, which makes me wonder if my problem isn't due to stomach emptying slowly (gastoparesis). My stomach (not just abdomen) gets distended like it is bloated.

I have a question regarding baking soda ingredients. I thought only baking POWDER contained aluminum, but have been reading that baking soda contains aluminum. I'm trying to stay clear of aluminum because my mom developed early onset Alzheimer's disease. Aluminum may/may not be a cause of AD...don't want to take chances.

Recently, I have been using an off-brand baking soda instead of the well-known brand found at local grocery stores. Please let me know if this well-known branded baking soda contains aluminum.

Over the years to help resolve this acid reflux health issue, I've tried HCL with pepsin, enzymes and now on a zinc amino acid supplement that may help eliminate acid reflux if the cause is due to helicobacter pylori bacteria.

Thank you for your noble work to help people eliminate health issues the natural way.

Lisa"

[YEA]  01/24/2008: Mary Beth Buchanan from Grayslake, Illinois writes: "For the past two weeks I have suffered both physically and emotionally because the acid reflux pain was so severe that it mirrored the discomfort that I had had during a heart attack last May. I now have two stints and have to take Plavix which in turn has caused heart burn and severe esophageal burning. I was prescribed protonix. At first this gave some relief but had to be increased to twice daily. Then I got a sinus infection & sore throat about three weeks ago and my dr. put me on a Z-Pac of antibiotics and for the past 2 weeks the burning at the base of my sturnum increased. I was desparately in pain yesterday and I found your wonderful web site quite accidentially. And there was the acid reflux info right there before me. It must have been nirvana! I immediately tried the ACV and BS combo (2 tbs ACV to 1/8 tea BS in a glass of purified water)and the pain was GONE! I have now done 4 treatments and am rejoicing! I can't even begin to tell you how relieved I am that I don't have to go do a stress test or angiogram to find out that I was NOT having another damn heart attack! Life is good, once again! Earth Clinic is fabulous and I've probably told 50 people about your site already and I just discovered it yesterday! Thank you! I can't wait to try the oll pulling. Question: Do you think the combination of the plavix and the antibiotic just was too much for a system to handle?"

05/13/2008: Tana from Berrien Springs, Michigan replies: "Apple Cider Vinegar/Baking Soda: I am commenting on Mary Buchanan's post regarding having two stints and having to take Plavix. I would like to tell everyone that there is a wonderful natural product which will eliminate the need for taking chemical blood thinners such as Coumadin, Plavix and even aspirin.

It is called Nattokinase which is a derivative of fermented soybeans. It will break up bloodclots within in hours with no bad side effects. It probably would be well to do this under an integrative physician's care, just to eliminate the rare case of loosening a clot into the bloodstream. I have not heard of this actually happening, but the possibility is there, nevertheless. Aside from that very rare occurrence, the use of Nattokinase should be recommended to anyone who has had heart surgery of any kind. Also, for those who have a tendency for Pulmonary embolisms or PAD/deep vein thrombosis, this product will eliminate them entirely because it will not allow new dangerous clots to form. It may be taken on a daily basis with no danger of thinning the blood too much because it only works in a dangerous clotting situation. There is absolutely no danger of profuse bleeding from an injury or cut, even surgery, because it will not keep the healing clot from forming.

I know that this product works because I had a pulmonary embolism a month after a car accident which bruised my sternum so badly that I couldn't breathe normally. As soon as I got out of the hospital I started the Nattokinase and the clot was cat-scan gone within 10 days! I had just changed to a new doctor and had to sign a release so that if anything untoward happened she would not be blamed but I was happy to do it. Sincerely, Tana"

I am currently on Warfarin 12mg because of a Portal vein clot received after an splenectomy. I do not want to be on this drug since it is the main ingredient in rat poison!!! Besides that I do not want to take any chemical drugs.

I am aware of Nattokinase and actually have been using it on and off for years just 1 pill every other day or so but now that I have developed this clot and are on Warfarin I have been doing research but nobody is mentioning the dosage to use and how often and will your INR still show if you are in the theraputic measurements etc.

Also my spleen was removed because it was enlarged because of Polycythemia Vera as a underlying source. I was diagnosed 16 years ago with the PV and was doing fine with just an occational phlebotamy but after the spenectomy my platelets are going haywire and have been up to 2.5 mil. The operation was in May of 2008 and I have been in the hospital 8 times since then because of no medication, wrong medication .....you name it - I even had cardiac arrest in July because my pottasium level was in the 8's and all because of dr's not knowing what to do.

Does anyboy have a clue what I could do naturally to help my condition with the PV (bone marrow is going crazy making platelets, so the energy needs to slow down there :).)

I came accross this website by reading up on ACV and BS in regards to a bladder infection I have at the moment and it helped within 24 hours....yippy .

Because of this I might just try to use the ACV and/or BS for my problem- it might help????

Also they have me on Hydroxyurea pills 2000 mg a day in order to control the platelets but also they have not found the right dosage yet - we are still trying to figure that out and needles to say that is a horrible drug to be on with the side effects etc. SOOOO please if somebody has some ideas you can email me directly at ingridmjr1(at)yahoo.com. I would appreciate all the help I can get!
I am a very active and normally before this considerate myself in great condition - I am 47 years old! Thanks a bunch in advance."

[NAY]  12/21/2007: Paul from Nashville, TN writes: "My wife has a high sensitivity to Edema and electrolyte imbalance if she gets too much Sodium. She recently had Reflux symptoms and we tried the juice from one large arm of a fresh aloe vera plant straight up with a little purified water. Drink it quick because the critical healing enzymes in Aloe Vera begin to deteriorate within 10 minutes of being cut from the plant.

We also had 1 Tbspn Ginger Root Juice in the morning and Ted's ACV formula but we sustituted Sodium free, Calcium Carbonate-based Baking Soda instead in the standard Sodium-based stuff.

Ted's formula of 1/4 Teaspoon - 2 TABLESPOONS 2-3x per day of Sodium-based Baking Soda is frankly dangerous. At the low end (1/4 Teaspoon of Sodium-based Baking Soda per serving), you are getting 900mg of additional Sodium.

The USDA daily limit is 2200mg of Sodium. Anyone on a low sodium diet should be on 1200mg or less of Sodium.

At the suggested upper limit of 2 TABLESPOONS per serving of Sodium-based baking soda, you are receiving 21,600mg (that's right, Twenty-Thousand, Six Hundred milligrams) of Sodium!

This is close to TEN TIMES the recommended limit for a NORMAL person!  This has very serious health effects!

Sodium drives the electrolyte balance of the whole body and these levels can cause all sorts of nerve and heart complications (as we read above). I would just about guarantee that the people reporting trouble above are doing over a 1/2 teaspoon or more of Sodium per serving.

Ted's ACV formula is frankly - dangerous!

Sodium is the LAST thing you need to be adding to your body at this level. The reason most antacids are made of Calcium Carbonate is because it can be safely taken in quantities to counteract acid and actually have a health benefit to the typical person.

I am all for ACV and reducing it's pH, but it should be supplemented with Calcium Carbonate such as Sodium-Free Baking Soda which is calcium-based. If you are a woman over 50, this is actually a major health benefit.

We are only doing one ACV treatment per day in the morning and using 1 teaspoon of Calcium-based baking soda. That is 1200mg of Calcium or 120% of the daily recommended value of Calcium. Most people don't get enough Calcium anyway so this works out fine.

You have to do some common-sense research on things or you can end up in major trouble....Paul"

EC: Just did a product search on google and Calcium Carbonate appears to be the sodium-free baking soda alternative that people keep mentioning. http://www.ener-g.com/store/detail.aspx?section=11&cat=11&id=125

But... read more about Calcium Carbonate on Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium_carbonate

"Calcium carbonate is a chemical compound with the chemical formula CaCO3. It is a common substance found in rock in all parts of the world, and is the main component of shells of marine organisms, snails, pearls, and eggshells. Calcium carbonate is the active ingredient in agricultural lime, and is usually the principal cause of hard water. It is commonly used medicinally as a calcium supplement or as an antacid, but high consumption can be hazardous"

10/12/2011: Jason from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "1/4 teaspoon is actually only 300 mg of sodium. So at the low end of Ted's formula you are getting an extra 600 mg of sodium, not 900."

I'm completely off my Nexium (after 3 mos. usage with no relief), I've had no flare ups, my throat/larynx feel much better - almost like normal (pretty badly burnt, very hoarse, sore throat, etc), and I'm back to eating my "normal" stuff! Thank you!"

[YEA]  09/26/2007: Tony from Adelaide, South Australia writes: "Apple Cider Vinegar helped my acid reflux; I had a heart attack back in 2003 and had a stent fitted, I was 56 years old at the time, and part of my medication was to take something to combat acid reflux, which I had not had a real problem with up until then. I was put on a low dose of Acimax (20mg) and a range of other drugs that heart attack victims have to put up with. Any person in my situation will tell you that any pain or twinges in the chest region will tell you of that unearthing fear of the return of another attack. I think the reason for doctor's giving you acid reflux drugs is just for that reason, because a lot of scares that people like me have are for that reason only. Now, over the years I had many scares and several times taken to the hospital by ambulance and several stress tests for the heart and I always came up positive, which was good. Now they up'd my dose of Acid reflux medicine to 40mg of Nexium, believing reflux was the problem and just recently I had an Endoscopy and I found out I have a Sliding Hiatus Hernia and so I now know where my chest pains were emanating from. My biggest annoyance now was that the Nexium was not working, and I suffered many a night with these unnerving chest pains. I then turned to the internet hoping I could find a cure, and I did, in the form of Apple Cider Vinegar and Bi-Carb Soda. What a god send, I wasn't sure at first, but my brain was telling me that taking a tablet to stop the body producing acid for digestion, which is a normal process, the body was only going to try to produce more to balance it out. Well now I can say I have stopped taking Nexium for over 3 months now, and I can't wait until I see my doctor next time to tell her of the good news, but I'll leave it until I have a good 6 months clear of my problem. Although some how I don't think it will make any difference to her way of thinking, unfortunately they've programmed to think drugs are always the way to go. Thank You to this website and I can now go through the rest of my life without the thought of being propped up on about 4 pillows trying to get a good nights sleep."

[YEA]  09/13/2007: Lorne from Willoughby, OH writes: "Great site and very useful information! I've had chronic Acid reflux for years, due to a hietal hernia. I've been on Aciphex, Nexium, Prilosec and just about every other "medicine" you can think of. The ACV and Baking soda goes down kind of nasty, but works like a champ! My question is: the idea of the ACV and such is to balance the body's Ph, right? I believe I'm nearing the proper levels at this point, as I feel better, but how do you test the body's Ph to know when I've got the acid/alkaline levels to the correct balance? Is there a problem if you go too far? Thanks! Lorne"

[YEA]  09/11/2007: Vincent from Atlanta, GA writes: "I have suffered with abdominal pain in my sternum area for the past 2 years or more. Finally the pain got so bad, I went to see a gastroenterologist to diagnose my condition. I figured it was an ulcer, but my endoscopy procedure showed that I was suffering from a hiatal hernia as a result of acid reflux. I was prescribed Prevacid to be taken for several months. I traced my problem back to having taken a hefty amount of ibuprofen from past sports injuries and knee surgery. I play basketball for exercise twice a week and wake up every morning with painful, stiff knees. Had I been aware of the negative results of anti-inflamatory drugs years ago, I never would have taken them. Anyway, after reading about the negative side effects of taking chemical drugs for acid reflux, I started praying and searching the web for natural remedies. I came across Ted's Apple Cider Vinegar & Baking soda remedy and have been on it for 3days now. It works great and quickly to relieve the pain of my acid reflux and to my surprise, after my first day of taking the remedy, my stiff, sore knees have been relieved. I played basketball 2days ago and had very minimal soreness and stiffness in my knees the next morning. I was able to climb the stairs in my house with no problem for the the first time in months. During my doctor's visits over the last few months, it has been discovered that my blood pressure is at pre-hypertension levels (138/88). I read several testimonials that users of the ACV remedy have experienced lowered blood pressure and cholesterol levels. I am anxious to have my blood pressure checked again to see if I am experiencing the same results. Hey, the acid reflux is getting under control and my knees don't ache and aren't stiff anymore. 2 down, 1 to go (blood pressure). It amazes me that I was able to come across one solution for all three of my conditions. I believe God directed me to this site for a reason. I will report back about my blood pressure once I get my next reading. Great stuff!!"

[YEA]  09/09/2007: Brandon from Evansville, Indiana writes: "I'm in my last semester of college and have been dealing with Acid Reflux for some time. I originally thought it was just my body being mad at the amount of alcohol being consumed. When my Acid Reflux started becoming unbearable I completely quit drinking but still my problem continued to worsen. I woke up this morning at 3 with classes at 8 with the most intense flare of acid reflux thus far. I found this site and read about the ACV and baking soda remedy and immediately drove to Wal-Mart and purchased the ingredients. It's about 5 minutes after drinking the mixture and I no longer have any pains. It worked wonderfully and will go through with all instructions of using this remedy. My only question is if anyone knows of a website I can find that lists meals and foods that someone dealing with this condition can eat. I'm having problems finding food that settle with my stomach and would appreciate any feedback."

I just found this site after taking prylosec, nexium, prevacid, and now over counter Pepsid AC which is not helping. Had an endoscopy which showed irritation. I will try the apple cider and baking soda tomorrow morning. This site also lists the trigger foods. I too was wondering what a bland diet was."
05/20/2009: CC from Halifax, NS replies: "I have found that the most troublesome foods for my acid reflux are flour, sugar, milk and the worst of all squash and pumpkin. I believe everyone has different triggers. Always eat fruit on an empty stomach. I have ended up in the hospital eating peaches as a dessert after a meal. A holistic DR. told me years ago that baking soda would help and that I should eat more vegetables. It seems strange that it is wheat that causes too much acid and not fruits and vegetables."

[YEA]  07/07/2007: Roger from Fairless Hills, PA writes: "The ACV remedy using 1/2tsp of Baking Soda, 2 tbsp of ACV and 4 oz of water does a great job of relieving the acid reflux I was suffering from. At first I was a little skeptical but it works...and works quickly. Additionally, when I can't use it, a Granny Smith apple helps relieve it but not as good. I was on Protonix for almost a year prior to trying ACV, this is a much better solution. I have recommended the site and remedy to many others. Side effect or coincidence? I noticed about 2 weeks after taking ACV that the pain I have had in my knees (had about 2yrs) was also relieved. I had been suffering with pain in my knees every evening to the point I had put a 'neck' pillow under them to help relieve it by slightly bending them...not any longer!:) Thanks Ted!!!"

Who would think something as simple as ACV would cure me! I also test my PH every day as per Ted's advice. I have been using ACV. baking soda, and collidal minerals mixed with apple juice and filtered water 5 days a week. I feel so good! Thank You So Much, Marguerite"

[YEA]  05/04/2007: Tracy from Lafayette, Colorado writes: "Hi. I became a skate skiing junkie last winter and was taking quite a bit of ibuprofen for aches and pains as I was getting in shape. One night I woke up with the most horrible burning pain in my chest. Because my mom has Acid Reflux I knew what it was. I thought it was just my age (41) and that I had inherited it. But, after finding your site, I realized it must have been from the Ibuprofen. I began taking two tablespoons of ACV with 1/4 teaspoon of Baking Soda and a little bit of water to dilute it enough to make it palatable, 3 x a day. It worked GREAT! I've been on the regime for a about a month and a half, taking a couple days off once a week. I haven't had any of the really bad chest pain in three weeks but I can tell that I'm not totally healed yet because, often my upper chest feels "full" like there is pressure in my upper lungs, especially toward the end of the two-day break from the ACV. In the last couple of weeks I also quit alcohol of any kind and about a month ago I started chewing my food really, really well. I'm thrilled that the regime is working so well and that I haven't had that horrific burning, pain in so long. Thanks!"

A visit to a GP was useless (prescribed zythromax and zyrtec) with no effect. I then went to an ENT and was found to have one of my vocal chords paralyzed and was subjected to many tests including an MRI. I was told that it may be a virus and that I had reflux. I was put on 80mg of protonix for 3 months which ended in disaster with severe itching later, acid was flowing up into my throat and I developed a constant sore tounge. I still didnt get any answers until I found this wonderful website. Ted is a genius, they should clone him many times and save this world from suffering. I tried the ACV/bicarb formula as well as the lemon/bicarb and it cured me. I stopped all PPI's and I still use the alkalizing formula religiously it helps me with all my aliments. I'm a regular on your site and I'm telling alot of people about it. Keep up the exceptional work your doing."

04/27/2007: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Most conditions of acid reflux can often be relieved with just ACV and baking soda, done alternatively with Lemon and baking soda. What it does is two fold, allow the body's buffer of pH to be within normal range for both formulas, but it is the lemon baking soda which corrects the body's electrolytes, while acetates found in vinegar help remove intracellular acidosis (inside the cell) by riding the body of lactic acid, which is peculiarly toxic to cells and when this happens, acid reflux.

For really tough cases, which I don't think you need generally, further correcting electrolytic imbalances are possible with 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in on liter of drinking water taking now and then. It helps add the body of micromineral that the body needs to balance itself out too.

In some rare cases of acid reflux if things are not working out, a twice weekly dose of vitamin B complex and magnesium can also help, especially the vitamin B5 and sometimes other Bs vitamins also."

[YEA]  04/16/2007: Anita from Arlington, VA writes: "I was having too many acids in my stomach and they were going up my esofagus. Then I tried the apple cider vinegar only once and that took care of it. This was about a month ago and since I meant comming to this site to leave a comment about it. What I did was to disolve the 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder in 2 tablespoons of apple cider; I let it sit for 3 minutes as suggested in remedy, then, stirred it, put about 4 or 5 onces of water, stirred and drank it. It worked! I must also say that I noticed that sugar in coffee or tea or the combination creates acid in me so without any effort on my part I am rejecting sugar in teas and stopped having coffee and sugar. I must say that I haven't had the acid reflux symptoms for about a month now and I only tried it once along with adopting my new diet behaviour. I am passing your recipe to everyone I meet. Thankful."
