[YEA]  05/01/2007: Annie from Waikoloa, Hawaii writes: "I have a persian cat that gave us all ringworm and I used this hand sanitizer melaluca made, It zapped ringworm in a few days. It had green or black walnut in it, I can't remember. But if you can't find that, I mash up some garlic and mix it with tea tree oil and apply it like a paste and put a large bandaid over it. Burns like the dickens but works well."

HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES

10/21/2009: Joy from Chicago, Il writes: "If the ACV and walnut is not working you could try homeopathy. It would be too complex to suggest different remedies but if you went into a homeopathic pharmacy, they could help. There is a remedy made from ringworm (diluted) and it may go under the latin name Tinea."

[YEA]  03/16/2010: Danny from Okeechobee, Florida writes: "I use a piece of ice to kill ring worms. I know this works if you catch it early and its a small area. It just amounts to freezing it like the doctor did when i was a kid.You gotta be able to stand the pain but after a while it will be numb so bear with it till numb and then some. This is a one shot treatment that works for me."

EC: Warning! You can damage tissue or cause frostbite by icing too long.

My son has spot on his thigh so I put ACV and iodine on him to @ least slow the growth till I can get some Tide. Good luck, it works!

It has to be Tide brand. The infection did not transfer from my daughter to my son, it has been like 1 yrs since my daughters infection."

LIGHT BULB CURE FOR RINGWORM

BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  07/15/2008: Mel from New York, New York writes: "Ok, this is my second visit to your site, first one was when i was desperately searching for a cure.

I tried almost everything.
1. clotrimazole.
2. tolnaftate cream and spray.
3. Apple cider Vinegar.
4. Witch Hazel.
5. Rubbing Alcohol.
6. Bleech.
7. Hydrogen Peroxide.
8. Tooth paste.
9. Salicylic acid.
10. Vicks.
11. Mouth wash.
12. Hand-sanitizer(alcohol)
13. Anti-bacterial liquid soap.
14. Icy hot

I tried all the above mentioned items, plus a combination of some of them together as a foot soaking agent.

The moment when i completely lost it, came when I saw a second ringworm right next to the original one. ARRRRRR

I poured a little less then half a cup of bleech, half cup of rubbing alcohol, half a cup of witch hazel, half cup of ACV, and then as soon as i poured half a cup of hydrogen peroxide I heard a whooshing sound and saw bubbles and some somke :-) grin, I thought to myself this would kill the fungus once for all. I then poured cold water, just enough so that I could soak my foot fully into the small plastic bucket. I then rubbed the two ringworms with my fingers under the solution, and kept my foot under water for atleast 10 minutes. The skin peeled off from the ringworms, and the itching stopped. I went to class, and then after few hours, Itching came back. I came home, and I was furious, at the drug agencies and the FDA for creating creams that only stop the growth of the ringworm instead of killing it. (thats how you make money).

I then took a small night lamp in my room, with .10 WATT bulb, and turned it on. Once the bulb got hot, I started cooking :-) It hurt really bad when I started to roll the bulb on the ringworms, but the feeling of killing that nasty bugger overcame my own pain. I really burned the suckers good, the skin turned red, and the bulb was covered in some sort of mildue. Ringworms started flaking, and I kept going, until I knew that the ringworms were dead and were now burning in hell. The itching had stopped. It has been 3 or more hours since this experiment, and the itching had not returned.

The skin of course was red due to minor skin burns, and may even leave a mark, but I will accept it open heartedly because it is just on my foot, and it will be just another battle scar to my body collection.

Arrrrrrggghhh 142nd Pirates for life.

(Do not tell me that it cannot be killed; if it is living, then I will find a way)"

08/07/2009: Elexar from Chicago, Il replies: "Ringworm is not caused by a worm or bug, its caused by a fungus. A contagious fungus. To keep it from recurring, you have to wash everything the spot came in contact with. For example, if you have ringworm of the scalp, you'll have to wash you bed linens (or at least the pillowcase) as you're treating it you don't reinfect yourself. I don't know how effective this is, but i spray things that cannot be washed (like the sofa) with lysol spray or the like."

LIQUID BANDAGE, GARLIC

[YEA]  12/12/2007: marybeth from volcano, hi writes: "I've had ringworm a few times in the last 4 months. I keep getting just one spot at a time. I find that garlic and liquid bandage works best for me. I slice a piece of garlic and put the "wet" side on the fungus for a couple of minutes. Don't do it too long or it will burn. Then I let it dry a bit and put the liquid bandage on-it's found in the bandage aisle the kind I buy is New Skin. It's like nail polish. The garlic kills the fungus and the LB smothers it and I think it keeps it from spreading. I also use neem and tea tree oils and then cover witht the LB."

LIQUID BANDAID WITH TEA TREE OIL

[YEA]  03/23/2009: Kelly from PawPaw, MI writes: "I I had a small spot of ringworm on my wrist that I tried treating with iodine and antifungal cream while keeping it bandaged. Neither worked, and in fact the ringworm spot just got bigger. So, I got a no sting, liquid bandage spray at the pharmacy. This spray also has tea tree in it, but I added about 2 cc's to the .61 fl oz spray bottle. I sprayed the ringworm 2-3 times a day, adding a second coat when the first was dry, and made sure I sprayed a large area around the spot as well. I then covered the entire spot with a regular, non-stick bandage. After 3 weeks of other treatments that only made it spread, I saw a major improvement in just 2 days. In a week the spot had faded to nothing, but I kept treating it for an additional 2 weeks, and it's never been back!"

I poured it on my arms, let it sit for a minute and wiped off the drips but didn't wash it off, the ring worm dryed up and was gone really quickly, you could see and feel the results right away."

MISDIAGNOSING RINGWORM

02/23/2009: Misdiagnosed myself from Nashville, TN writes: "I diagnosed myself with ringworm after I showed my scaly patches to friends and family and two of them said definitely ringworm. So as with anything, I skipped the doctor and started looking at Earth Clinic! (how much money have I saved over the years by coming here first?) Unfortunately I wasted a few days on your readers' suggested ringworm treatments... My diagnosis was incorrect, I actually have Pityriasis rosea, which is a virus and just has to run its course, apparently. If you think you may have misdiagnosed your ringworm, put "Pityriasis rosea" into google images. As soon as I saw the pictures I knew it was me. This rash feasts on areas that have never had much sun: breasts and butt for women, butt for men."

EC: "Pityriasis rosea is a common skin condition in children and young adults. It usually begins as one large spot on your chest, abdomen or back and then spreads. The rash of pityriasis rosea often sweeps out from the middle of your body, and its shape resembles drooping pine-tree branches." Source: The Mayo Clinic

MMS

[YEA]  07/25/2009: Kokila from Roslyn Heights, NY writes: "Hi, This is for all ringworm sufferers! Fungus help:

I had a very bad case of fungal skin infections (ringworm most likely) on my legs and hand. I had also a bad case of lymphedema, which I got rid of (see my other entry here), but then the stupid fungus attacked with a vengence! So I got rid of one enemy to only attract number 2! So no more swelling and pain, BUT now ITCH and sores! It was going on for a few months with almost no relief. I tried every cream/remedy known to man without success!

Despairing I told a friend, who told me: try "MMS" aka Magic Mineral Substance created by a man named Jim Humble...It cures all sorts of pathogen related viral infectious diseases. Serious ones like Malaria, Lyme diease, you name it! Skeptical I tried it! It WORKED! All the fungus is GONE! Took a few weeks...but eradicated it, even from my hand, where I had had a weird fungus for a year.

So here's my protocol:
MMS in the AM, along with topically some health food store natural fungal cream, just to protect the skin from lingering nasties.
That's it folks!
I tried: ACV, lavender/tea tree oil mix with sea salt first to dry the skin (paid $40 bucks for the download of that info...didn't work), oregano (wild) oil, garlic, multiple creams, etc. NOTHING really got rid of the torture of this fungus, except MMS. Not trying to advertise it, just spreading the word to help fellow fungus sufferers. Interestingly enough Jim Humble's simple remedy is cheap too.

Good luck...hope this helps others."

[YEA]  07/21/2010: Sid Davis from Springfield, Missouri, Usa writes: "My wife had ringworm under her chin for about two months. She tried Calamine lotion for about a month and 1/2 because she thought she had brushed against some poison ivy, not realizing it was ringworm. When she realized it was ringworm, she painted it twice daily for a week with lugol's solution (5% iodine) and it started to noticeably clear. Then I read about clear nail polish, and she quit the iodine and applied nail polish twice daily for two days, and now it is gone. Looks like the nail polish worked the best."

Nu skin stopped the itching right away and dried skin up. Ringworm had spread all the way around my neck and now all traces nearly gone! [YEA]  08/26/2006: Liz from NC writes: "My roomate and I both got ringworm from a stray cat. We tried all the creams (both prescription and drugstore brands), and hydrogen peroxide (which I assume, does the same as ACV = dries it out). Nothing was working. In fact, it was even spreading. I then was told to used the liquid bandaids. I chose the spray on one because you don't have to touch the infection. It does the same thing nailpolish is supposed to do (suffocates it), however it doesn't crack off. I just kept reapplying the bandaid, and tried not to rub it off after the shower. My ringworm dissapeared in no time at all. I must say that even though I was careful about not touching it, my roomate didn't use the bandaid and her's came back several times. Mine did not come back at all."
