Mold and Fungus Remedies

"Molds (or moulds, see spelling differences) include all species of microscopic fungi that grow in the form of multicellular filaments, called hyphae. In contrast, microscopic fungi that grow as single cells are called yeasts. A connected network of these tubular branching hyphae has multiple, genetically identical nuclei and is considered a single organism, referred to as a colony or in more technical terms a mycelium.

Molds do not form a specific taxonomic or phylogenetic grouping, but can be found in the divisions Zygomycota, Deuteromycota and Ascomycota. Although some molds cause disease or food spoilage, others are useful for their role in biodegradation or in the production of various foods, beverages, antibiotics and enzymes." (Wikipedia)

ANTI-FUNGAL HERBS AND FOODS

11/05/2011: Arlene from Boulder, Co: "I just read the comment entitled "ANTIFUNGAL HERBS AND FOODS" under "Mold and Fungus Remedies."

While there is some valuable information there, one underlying error exists-- the writer Sorrokine states:

"Ammonia kills the mycotoxins as well as the mold itself."

Because mycotoxins are non-viable (i.e., not living), they cannot be killed, only removed.

My family has been in recovery from Stachybotrys, Chaetomium, Aspergillus and others for just over 5 years now; I almost died in 2007 from extremely complicated symptoms. We have used a combination of scores of herbal, homeopathic, energetic, and pharmaceutical treatments in the process.

Wishing all mold patients healing~

12/24/2011: Faith from Forest Park, Ohio replies: "MOLD RECOVERY PROTOCOL...

I suffered from mold poisoning and the problem is that the mold settles in the body so you have to detoxify it. The best method that I found was The Gut and Psychology Diet while also including coconut oil on a regular basis. As far as antifungals coconut oil is a great one. I also used olive leaf and organic apple cider vinegar. The ACV should be taken before each meal, a few tablespoons in about an ounce of warm water. Cooking in all of the healthy fats helps you to detoxify the fungus... And making the fermented foods also helps to restore the good bacteria. There is HOPE, the body can repair itself.

In addition to this, it is best to flush the liver every few weeks. If your symptoms worsen, do a Apple Cider Vinegar enema to flush out the toxins, detox baths, or you can also take activated charcoal with plenty of water. Repeat the enema until you get clear fluids, take KELP and other SEAWEEDS to replenish minerals that you are missing AND drink plenty of homemade juices before and after a flush, or plenty of fresh JUICY fruits to replace minerals. Also take unsulphured black strap molasses to replenish minerals as well.

Diet should be based on Weston A. Price and GAP, these foods will heal you and plenty of bone broth will heal. I get my meat through a coop, best bones out there.... The broths alone did amazing things for us!"

12/24/2011: Karen from New York, Ny replies: "Faith - thanks so much for responding!!! I feel like I've tried everything and a year later I just don't feel any different at all.. And it's so frustrating. I will absolutely try your suggestions. was just wondering, what were your symptoms? and how long did you suffer from them? Really appreciate your help.

merry christmas! :)"

12/25/2011: Peppinstepp from Massachusetts, Usa replies: "Drinking juices and fruit may NOT be a good thing!!! Many people who have mold issues also have yeast issues, and all the sugar from the juices and fruit (and these have tons of sugar, ) may be encouraging and promoting the yeast overgrowth, symptoms of which can be just as devastating as those from mold. The best diet for ANY detox is the candida diet (or even the lyme diet which is similar. ) It is very limited but very poweful and it WORKS. You can google it.

I have lyme, mold and yeast issues and I've been on the first stage of the candida diet for a month and I can't believe how fast my body is detoxing. I've never had rashes or pimples and for the past two weeks I've been covered in them. So I can see all the toxins coming out! I also take ammonia baths and have done a couple of colonics. Both of these have helped tremendously, but in my opinion, the MOST important thing in dealing with mold and yeast, is the DIET. No sugar though!"

12/25/2011: Karen from New York, Ny replies: "I'm definitely a little nervous about drinking juices as well w/ my yeast issues.. But I've heard that ammonia baths are highly recommended.. I'm just concerned about if they're actually safe or not??

peppinstepp - what symptoms of yours have gotten better? I've been dealing w/ rashes lately also but I'm not sure if it's my body detoxing or just another symptom.. my worst issue is brain fog and feeling disoriented/dizzy. just hoping something out there will actually help. Thanx so much."

12/26/2011: Emi from Sarajevo, Bosnia replies: "Hi! I am also a mold victim, and have got allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis that has no cure. I have found remedy for my brain fog though, and I feel ok regarding that nowadays. You are lucky if that is all u feel ;-) I take B12, grapefruit seed extract, vco, kelp, B complex, vitamine c, oxygen, neem, nettle (GREAT FOR ALLERGIES!) d3, quarcetine, lysine, larix, probiotics, magnesium citrate and dandelion for liver to cope w/ the toxins. I actually take much more stuff but this I took in the beggining and it helped w/ brainfog along with the moving out of the hell hole as well as the air purifier! Good luck and HNY!"
12/26/2011: Emi from Sarajevo, Bosnia replies: "OMG, I forgot NIACINAMIDE!!!! Supergood for brainfog!!!"
12/27/2011: Faith from Forest Park, Ohio replies: "My symptoms were too many to list, and I don't want to scare you, but seizures, hallucinations, mood swings, rashes, chronic fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, fungus on body, yeast, hearing loss right side, tumors, moles, etc. It's been really tough detoxifying my body while in the house. I got much better, and I thought leaving was the answer, but I'm not where I would like to be. I developed MCS as a result of the mold toxicity.

Good bacteria in the body is the key if you can get past the detox... That is all the fermented foods that you can stand on a daily basis... Do the enemas and baths to help with detox. Try painting iodine on the body during the morning to help with detox as well, and eating various kinds of kelp. I cook with help in all my bone broths and stews... But again detox is horrible. I would be interested to hear who is still in their home, I'm considering going back and trying to clean up my home because RENTING is worse... You CANNOT control mold in rental units... You will GET WORSE! Plus, if you take your THINGS with you, you are TAKING THE PROBLEM WITH YOU... It gets in your belongings!"

12/28/2011: Faith from Forest Park, Ohio replies: "Regarding FRESH JUICES, I am referring to blending FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, those will feed the body the NUTRITION that the MOLD HAS ROBBED US OF... Yes, CANDIDA, mold is a fungus, but you need MINERALS and you have to get it from fresh fruits and vegetables.

Also, you have to COLON CLEANSE and you have to TAKE A DIGESTIVE AID (the undigested proteins cause MCS). The digestive aid should be taken PRIOR to each meal. Try to find an ALL PLANT BASED digestive aid. The digestive aid will digest the mold and parasites that are feeding on the mold in the body... You may have to double your dosage of the digestive aid, I take two prior to each meal. My meals, again, consist of lots of plant based fruits and vegetables, especially GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES because they are full of calcium. Lots of fatty protein based broths, soups and stews. Lots of bacon and egggs, hormone free because the HORMONES WILL FEED THE FUNGUS, and lots of coconut oil and olive oil because they are both ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIFUNGAL and they help to rebuild the body...

Good luck, we CAN HEAL, I'm much much better than I was... Trust me when I tell you that I was dying."

12/28/2011: Karen from New York, Ny replies: "Faith thanks so much for your help!!! I have also suffered from many of these scary symptoms - and some have resolved itself but still dealing w the rashes, fatigue, brain fog, etc. How long did it take for you to feel a difference or any improvements though?? I moved out of my moldy house and am now currently somewhere which I believe is very clean, we were VERY careful with our belongings and for the most part didn't take ANY furniture (if we did we thoroughly cleaned it with thieves oils) and same goes for our clothes. It's been two months now and I'm not feeling much better, but hoping to start on a diet like you suggested and am hoping that will help out as well. I also just started on something called cholestepure (the alternative to CSM that Dr. Richie Shoemaker uses) to help w/ the mold toxins. I'm nervous about doing the ammonia baths like many others have suggested because I don't know how safe they are but people claim that they're super effective - appreciate everyone's help though, and hoping that this will eventually pass so I can feel like a normal person again :("
01/31/2012: Faith from Forest Park, Ohio replies: "Baths, detox with epsom salts, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide then alternate the baking soda with the acv. You also have to COLON CLEANSE the mold gets in the colon, do psyllium and bsm, one T. Psyllium and 1 tsp. Bsm. Do it regularly and sometimes substitue activated charcoal for the bsm. Also do GOOD BACTERIA, LOTS AND LOTS, bananas, homemade yogurt, homemade kefir, homemade kombucha, these helped me turn the corner... And prebiotics like oat bran, rice bran, HIGH FIBERS... AND LOTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF SEAWEED in your diet daily... It took a year before I was feeling well.... but all this is key to move the mold out of the body..."
02/08/2012: Shatsi from Maskinonge, Québec, canada replies: "Hello, all your reading and diets are interesting. I thought I was alone in the world. We had to abandon our home and ALL our belongings in 2010 due to the presence of serpula lacrymans, a very rare mold (mushroom) with toxic spores. But we had been living with it, unknown, for several months. Needless to say, I am extremely ill since fall 2009. The experts found 5different types of mold in my blood, at very high levels. I have gained a lot of weight, severe skin eruptions, etc......... Too much health problems to name. BUT, the one thing I have trouble with since day one is being able to eat...... Anything with proteins.... I get very ill and cannot keep it down. I still crave some stuff and eat anyways but pay the price. I'm down to white rice, toast, oranges and a fewother things.

Our home was demolished and along with all our stuff, was buried in a contamination dump site. So now we are in a new home that we built from scratch with no help but the health side is not improving. Please let me know what I can do..... I would like to find myself again..... And not be this ill for good. I must mention that before all this, I was already disabled and have a very weak immune system so........ now, all the preexisting conditions have worsen also. Please help......"

02/09/2012: Timh from Louisville, Ky, Usa replies: "Shatsi, check the E. C. page for Mold & Fungus here http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/mold.html and I posted some info on Grapefruitseed Extract here: "BHT SUBSTITUTE? UNAVAILABLE IN PAKISTAN"(sorry no hyperlink). As an opportunity to correct a big oversight, Oscar went into some detail on Grapefruitseed Extract and I hadn't read the entire post missing this until later as I spoke of GSE as if it hadn't been mentioned. But Oscar's theme was GSE as an anti-viral while mine was anti-fungal.

There are some great links on the Fungus & Mold page w/ one in particular a doctor using all natural products for the removal of the fungus from the body. I think her site is http://www.toxic-black-mold-syndrome.com/index.html. One nutrient in particular is Brown Seaweed Extract. Dr. Shoemaker prescribes Cholestramine® for removal. Both Dr's have websites and books in print that detail the problem of black mold.

Hope this helps and good luck. Please report results, update."

02/09/2012: Louwrencel from Rustenburg, North West South Africa replies: "Hi Shatsi, If all else fails try IV vit c & if that is too expensive try liposomal vit c which is much cheaper & you can make it at home, on the net you can get info on how to make it. What I also do know is that vit c about the only thing that can kill mold in your body, but it is a problem to take high doses of vit c as it causes an upset stomach but with IV vit c you can tolerate doses of 100- 200 gr & with liposomal vit c 5 gr is equivalent to 50 gr of IV vit c. So try it you have nothing to lose."
04/27/2012: Yoli from Ruidoso, Nm replies: "Hello my name is Yolanda and yesterday I was unpacking some inventory at a shop I work at and a package of tops had a strong smell. And a powder on top. It was really damp and my boss said it was mold. Well immediately after I started coughing and had a scratching throat. Some sneezing too. Today I realized I may be the victim of mold inhalation. The cough has persisted and progressed slightly. What can I do? Do I need to be tested by my physician? I need help. Email yoligraves27(at)yahoo. Com"

11/23/2010: Sorrokine from Vs, Ny, Usa: "I was diagnosed by a Toxicologist in 10/09 with Late Stage Two Mycotoxicosis from a biopsy and a urine analysis. Doctors, Allergist and almost every doctor for an entire year could not do this. They told me it was allergies and such. I started to work in the basement office building May of 2008. The symptoms started in as little as three months there. Inside the mold contaminated building, I developed narcolepsy, boils, skin redness, yellow spots on my skin, white hair, vision disorders, depression, digestion issues, vomiting, jitters, shaking, mood swings, almost like a bi-polar disorder, lack of normal bowel movements, burning urine, really, the list goes on forever. Now before this building, and this job, I was a healthy 28 year old, with not one sign of any health issues. In fact I was fit, sound, and happy. Eventually these doctors I had visited each time told me that this is something they cannot investigate or they will loose their license as per the FDA. Found out normal studies in medical school do not include training on any type of mold sickness. What a Load of bull____.

Since being infected with mycotoxins and mold from a terribly poor quality office environment for roughly 18 months, which was covered with several different types of mold, (oozing with mycotoxins to the point they dripped from the walls to the floor - yellow color - they are the result of competing molds in their vicinity. ) I Finally began to look into some sort of cure. Prior to me meeting this amazing toxicologist, who is a leader in Mold sickness around the world, he was also the first to explain to me that the only way to kill mold and their toxins, is AMMONIA. (his info is on my site listed below) That's it. Ammonia kills the mycotoxins as well as the mold itself. TO MAKE THIS CLEAR - Bleach and peroxide cannot kill mold - they will just eat it as food. So He carefully instructed me to pour a 8 ounce cup of 3% clear ammonia into a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes. This saved my lungs which were coated in mold and mycotoxins, as well as killed some of the yeast in my skin and body from absorption and contact. I highly recommend that if you know you're sick from mold, and near death, honestly, this is the first step. Ammonia baths. It saved my life. Also clean your house with it as well if you are not MCS (Multi-chemical sensitive - which is a result of chemical treatments for mold, and the mold itself causes this disorder - Baking soda kills mold on contact, however cannot kill the mycotoxins)

Also it is important to remember a few things on this subject. Washing all your clothing, sheets, towels and such in a cup of 3% clear ammonia is highly important since you release mycotoxins from your skin. They must be removed. Ammonia is the only way. Finally after two years of suffering, almost dying in December of 09, I had to quit the job and leave the premises that contained these terrible molds. My boss, my landlord all could care less. Great people. OSHA, cared little as well. I went to a homeopathic doctor who put me on an anti-candida diet, which is the main reason those who suffer with mold poisoning die so horribly. No carbs, no sugar, no yeast, nothing fermented. Candidas Albicanis is a yeast in our gut that can take over everything in our body when our immune system is compromised. It was eating away at my skin, my muscles, my organs, the toxin invaded my brain, and I lost sight partially in my left eye, and hearing in my left ear. It feeds off of all the sugar and carbs you ingest, starving your cells from the nutrients they desperately need. This diet didn't do much, but it did help with the nausea and vomiting issues. I also had a herbal tea mixture my friend and I researched. Bayberry root bark, Pleurisy root, gotu kola, nettles, Cinnamon and cloves. I was on this on and off in a two day cycle for about two months. Helped drastically, but not so much all the symptoms. Also catnip tea helped with the sleeping disorder and insomnia late at night. Teaspoon of each in a 32 ounce pot. Drank whole pot in one day, repeated next, then gave myself two days to recover.

So only as of about 3 months ago, I started a strict regimen of Supplements I heavily research to aid me in my recovery since all doctors said I was just going to die from this. The amazing realization is that what I had researched, is a cure to mold poisoning as well as candida infections. Yeasts, fungi and mold are not based on chlorophyll, they are single cell life forms based on a bacterial way of existence. Living off a host to gain nutrients. From Studying different anti-fungal herbs and foods, I created a regimen of supplements that has saved my life. They are:

Chlorophyll Supplements - (liquid gel caps, or liquid)
Alfalfa Extract - (for digestive and lack of appetite also lifts mood. )
Grape Seed Extract(breaks thru the brain blood bond barrier to clean out fluid inside)
Grapefruit Seed Extract - anti fungal
Milk Thistle - (Liver Function)
Oil of Oregano - Strong anti-fungal(only 3 wks on then 3 wks off)
Burdock (Liver function)
Dandelion (liver function)
Garlic - (Anti-fungal and heart help)
Onion - (anti-fungal)
Neem seed Oil (Exterior and interior treatment)
Rose hip Tincture

These I take in the morning when I wake up, and then again ever six hours. So far in as little as 3 months, All the skin abrasions, yellow spots, red boils, vision disorder, mood disorders, mood swings, bi-polar disorder, depression, hearing disorders, jitters, narcolepsy, brain fog, digestion issues, weakness of muscles, acidic body Ph, yellow nails, odor, omitted toxins after bathing left on towels, (Yes I smelled like mold, and after I bathed, the towel smelt the same way. It is a smell you can never forget. ) all of these symptoms - DISAPPEARING!! COMPLETELY FADING EACH DAY! I am so thankful I never gave up, and I am forever thankful for these wonderful aids in finding my recovery. I wanted to share this with as many people as possible since there are over 500, 000 diagnosed deaths from mold sickness each year, and thousands more that go on undiagnosed until autopsy.

Thank you and Here's to everyone learning we may have to live in a polluted world, but we don't have to live with polluted bodies!"

I was exposed to toxic mold in my office as well, and have been dealing with ongoing symptoms for the past 6 months. It has honestly been the worst thing that has ever happened to me, and I have tried so many different things but haven't felt like anything has truly helped. I honestly feel like I'm drunk all the time, have been really dizzy, moody just not myself, vision changes (was wondering what kind of vision issues you have had also?), hearing issues, hair loss. It's been terrible! But I did go to a doctor recently who put me on an anti-candida diet as well, and am hoping it will make a big difference. I'm drinking milk thistle, burdock and dandelion tea everyday about 4x a day... Is there anything else you'd recommend? I'm feeling more decent lately, but not close to being ok, and I'm just so upset and having such a hard time getting over this. I have very high mold inside me , (moved) and several high and very high heavy metals. I'm going to die from this soon if I can't find some real natural treatments.
Thanks for your help. ~ Judy ~"
03/12/2011: Tom from Regina, Sk replies: "Judy:
Regardless whether it was a hair test or other that determined you have too much heavy metals, here is an interesting tie-in to niacinamide you can start immediately to help with that part of your problems.

It's from the post on Alzheimers just sent in today.

You can buy a big bottle of niacinamide form of B3 (not niacin! ) for about $5 anywhere.

Article is from late 2009, high dose niacinamide in lab mice bred for brain amyloid plaques:

www.articlesbase.com/alternative-medicine-articles/will-remarkably-inexpensive-nutrient-cure-alzheimers-disease-1433911.html

The tubules are like highways inside cells. Dr. Green said that niacinamide is "making a wider more stable highway. " Alzheimer's disease breaks down the highway (tubules). But niacinamide prevents this from happening.

I've previously told you how the toxic metal mercury also destroys these microtubules, potentially causing Alzheimer's disease. So anything that can prevent the damage or reverse it is a huge discovery.

You could also directly bind loose mercury, easily the worst offender of all heavy metals in the body, into the completely inert HgSe which will be excreted using a good selenium supplement, meaning preferably the organic form found right in plants and nuts, selenomethionine:

www.bing.com/images/search?q=selenomethionine&go=&form=QBLH&scope=images&filt=all

www.evenbetterhealth.com/mercury-poisoning-removal.php

Selenium is a potent chelator of mercury (it binds to it and removes it from the body). Mercury exposure can therefore lead to a selenium deficiency.

Selenium at 250 mcg per day should be used in any mercury chelation program. Selenium has an unusually high "binding affinity" for mercury, making it a vital part of the support protocol when detoxifying mercury from the body."

03/13/2011: Diamond from Salisbury, Mass. replies: "Tom; I do not care to buy or deal with any sales pitch especially those that promote information about using mice/rats for their experiments. I go against any one that uses any living/breathing human, animal or even a mammal.
Thanks......"
07/14/2011: Mike from Regina, Sask replies: "You are exactly correct. Your account is 100% accurate. Having worked in the supplement industry, I learned much about different supplements that were on the market (mostly for bodybuilding). Then my boss and I decided that we should bring in natural products as it is a growing market and it's important. Seeing all of the things that you listed is great. Oil of Oregano is one of the strongest natural anti-fungal products out there; an excellent choice.

What prompts me to write this reply is that I am just discovering that my current sickness is due to black mold (Stachybotrys). It is a mycotoxin which gives of potentially deadly spores. I moved into my parents basement in a transition from moving from one city to another. It was an easy way to move and have somewhere for all of my stuff :) This winter destroyed the past records for snowfall which means, a LOT of snowmelt. Basements everywhere were being flooded. Luckily, my parent's house, built in 1987, withstood any water from penetrating into the basement. BUT, black mold can still thrive as the ground is saturated with moisture.

My gf, who is very healthy and has a great diet like myself, has become oddly sick. Not just regular flu or cold symtoms, but odd uni-lateral pains throughout her arms and legs. Very odd. After doctors just gave her prescription strength drugs (which did nothing), she went to a naturopathic doctor. They figured something else was up, something viral. They gave her many natural products to take and said to stay away from a high-arginine diet. Since we both have a high protein diet for our gym lifestyle, arginine is a very abundant and common amino acid. Her blood work also showed that she had high amounts of creatinine in her blood and another test that was supposed to be between 20-120, she was at 300. I can't remember the test.... Something like C/K, looks for broken down protein in the blood. Hers was high, which is odd because she supplements with branched chain amino acids everyday. When I had this ephiphany tonight about black mold, I researched it. Sore throat and respiratory problems is a major part of black mold sickness. Both her and I have had this nagging sore throat for about a month, and nothing can cure it. ALSO I read that black mold can prevent protein synthesis, which means, it prevents her body from chaining amino acids together to make muscle protein! This could explain the reason for the high amounts of this broken down protein in her blood which could relate to the uni-lateral pains in her extremities.

So I guess my message is, if you have these symtoms for longer than 2 weeks and there seems to be no cure or you aren't getting better, look at your environment. Colds caused by a virus tend to be fought off by your body in 12-14 days, as the affected cells in the nose, nasal cavity, and throat get replaced every two weeks(ish). Colds caused by a bacteria, like strep throat, can be treated with an anti-biotic and can be greatly minimized within hours of taking the first does. However, fungi are a different breed, especially when it comes to black mold. You are constantly being bombarded by spores which continually weakens or suppresses your immune system, not allowing you to get better. LOOK INTO IT.

Thanks for reading, hopefully this can help other so they don't have to go through something like my girlfriend did!"

09/28/2011: Tom from Plainview, Ny replies: "It is very important to remove mold from your home as soon as possible. Breathing in mold spores can be very dangerous to your health. Mold has been linked to asthma, respiratory issues, skin rashes, headaches, dizziness, SIDS and even cancer. We had mold in our home for years and didn't even know it. It does not always give off that typical "moldy" smell. Call in a mold professional to look over your home, they usually give a free evaluation and price quote for a cleanup. Then you will have a better idea of exactly what you are up against."
10/18/2011: Jal from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Re... "So He carefully instructed me to pour a 8 ounce cup of 3% clear ammonia into a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes. This saved my lungs which were coated in mold and mycotoxins, as well as .."

Can anyone else corroborate the safety of this treatment and or its effectiveness. Obviously this is bad for MCS but would it be suitable if I wore a face shield? I am wishing to treat a 5 year old tinea (?) type rash on one buttock :( and I have previous history of reactions to molds and recent treatment with Nystatin that was reduced in the faecal test but did not alter the rash."

11/12/2011: Linda from Santa Barbara, Ca, Usa replies: "I have the same symptoms from a daily black mold exposure for many years. Could you please give me the contact info for that toxicologist you mentioned? My e-mail is sbrus25 (at) yahoo.com. Or maybe somebody can recommend other toxicologists/doctors who can prove the mold in my body. Thank you"
12/12/2011: Fellowmoldsufferer from Minneapolis, Mn replies: "To Mike from Regina, Sask: Some of your girlfriend's symptoms, like the odd persistent sore throat, sound like they can be radiation-related. We are getting radiation from Fukushima since March of this year. It can cause sore throat, especially. The problem is mold sickness will be aggravated by radiation, so those unfortunate people may get sicker faster from radiation. The mold might also become more aggressive, from radiation. The symptoms of one can look like symptoms of the other, so be careful figuring out which one it is - it may be both, as well. I would think one way to tell is if the symptoms were there before March 11, 2011. If they were, and they are worse, it could be mold worsened by radiation. If they weren't, and suddenly came on after that date, especially after a few months so the radioactive particles had time to settle internally in your body from the food, water, and air, then maybe it's radiation (or radiation combined with some new mold exposure). Good luck to all of us getting either of these conditions properly diagnosed by doctors."
12/26/2011: Ladyjustice from Fayetteville, Arkansas replies: "I have a resistant skin fungus that has gotten much worse starting in late March/early April of this year. At the same time my hair started falling out. I am really interested in the connection between radiation and fungi... It seems like this year was a full on assault for my skin. After taking terbinafine it got so much worse..."
01/21/2012: Jcchilliwack from Abbotsford, Bc, Canada replies: "If your hair is falling out; skin on the arms dry, your forearms without any hair on them it could be a number of things. Radiation, flouride and menopause affect the thyroid adversely... Get that checked or put a drop of iodine on your arm and if it's still there the next day.. You have enough. If not get your thyroid checked."

SIDE EFFECTS

[SIDE EFFECTS]  06/23/2010: M from Galveston, Tx: "Thanks to everyone for the info, and mostly for the good humor. When I get days as bad as today, I stay home from work, as I lose all sense of humor and feel like I want to belt somebody. My mother used to drink ACV (straight!) for various infections, and after reading all your testimonials, I decided maybe I'd try some for my respiratory problem. I am getting desperate, as no OTC or prescribed medications are helping. I've had a chronic, violent cough which sometimes results in vomiting, and almost always in loss of urinary control, caused from living in a toxic mold-infested apartment after Hurricane Ike (and this was one I moved to in order to get out of one that flooded). In short, I have been coughing since January of 2009. The doctors don't seem to want to think of my problem in terms of the mold exposure - not sure why they are resistant to that - so they've tried (unsuccessfully, but expensively) treating me with asthma and allergy medications. Today I got some N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) from the health food store, and am hoping that will give me some relief. Sleep would be nice, too. After reading many of your comments, I thought I should report that drinking ACV immediately caused me to BECOME congested, where I hadn't been before. It could be that it's not the thing to take for a mold infection (some hint of that on the mold forum, which I read AFTER I drank the ACV!). Thanks, better breathing, and best wishes to all."

11/23/2010: Sorrokine from Vs, Ny, Usa replies: "Mold poisoning is serious and possibly will end in death. I have late stage two Mycotoxicosis which was from a contaminated building no outside ventilation. I had 18 months exposure. I was only 28. I was healthy before this. Started working there 05/08 3 months started the symptoms.

Surviving my almost death, I left job in 01/10 to try to live. Through careful studies I found this. I cured myself by finding that ammonia is the only known agent to kill mold and mycotoxins they leave behind including Candidas Albicanus. That's the worst part of Mold poisoning is when this yeast takes over from your digestive track. I have posted a remedy on this website explaining all the needed info, however, to give a short answer, and a website with my journey to healing, I will provide you with this.

Grapefruit seed extract, grape seed extract, Chlorophyll liquid or gelcap, Alfalfa Extract, Garlic and onion extract, Oregano, or oil of oregano (if oil 3 wks on 3 wks off harmful to liver if not done so), Milk Thistle, Dandelion, and Burdock root extracts. These combined together in a six hour regiment will cure you. I am living proof. Also if you are really overwhelmed with the sickness, taking a bath with an 8 ounce cup of ammonia will aid in removing the yeast and toxins from your body. Also ALWAYS wash all your clothing, sheets, towels and such in a cup of clear 3% ammonia (only use this kind of ammonia for all said treatments) in your cycle and spray out dryer with it as well. This will kill the toxins you ooze out from this sickness. If you continue to recontaminate your body you will never recover. I wish you well!"
12/19/2010: Zee from Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia replies: "I live in South East Asia. It rains almost everyday. The walls of my house are always damp. Sometimes, our wardrobes would be covered with molds too. I would just wipe them away with dry cloth. But thank God none of us suffered from mold or fungal infections. I attribute this to our diet. I use onions, garlics, chillies, tumeric powder, tamarind juice and all other spices if necessary. I think these are the reasons why we are still healthy till today. Tumeric or tumeric powder is always used on skin rashes. Eucalyptus oil is also good on rashes and burns too, cos of its cooling and soothing effects on the skin which is immediate."
01/26/2011: Shelly from Fayetteville, Tn, Usa replies: "I NEED AN EXACT REGIMEN TO GO BY PLEASE, FOR TOXIC MOLD, I NEED TO START NOW! Please, Shelly"
01/26/2011: Tom from Regina, Sk replies: "Shelly:

Unfortunately, with mold illness/toxicity/exposure, the medical treatment regimen is very individualized depending on gender, genetics, exposure time and levels and mold type, and you haven't said anything about these.

Here is a generic reply given a month ago here. Look for my 12/31/2010 post 1/4 down the page:

www.earthclinic.com/CURES/fibromyalgia_remedies2.html

The key site you want to visit is Dr. Shoemaker's newest one at the root URL www.survivingmold.com

The specific area you want is under the "TREATMENT" tab, at:

www.survivingmold.com/treatment

His FIRST STEP is the most important by far! You will have to leave your moldy workplace or domicile immediately and permanently, since he claims that once exposure time reaches a certain length (again, highly individually specific), the mold toxin damage may be irreversible, even with the best current medical science.

If the patient feels fine with simple removal from exposure, no more steps are needed. There are a few people who are fixed with this step alone.

He uses cholestyramine, a Rx "old school" cholesterol-lowering drug that comes in a gritty powder, as the base of his treatment. It binds and holds, in the gut, the mold toxins that flood down into the gut with the bile after a meal! But for those so badly damaged that even the blood test markers are skewed, he uses all manner of other science, like Epogen the Amgen RBC regenerating drug (hormone), plus now many others.

IF you can print out some pages there, & IF you show some of his work to your PCP who sees the match in symptoms with yours, then perhaps you can get an "off-label" Rx for the cholestyramine right there without consulting with Dr. Shoemaker in the interim to get started on pulling out those mold toxins. The longer they circulate when unable to breakdown & excrete them, the more damage they do."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  05/08/2010: Michele from Sebewaing, Mi: "I have been using a 1/2 tsp. daily of Bragg's ACV in my neti bottle to irrigate my sinuses for the last 6 months. I have known allergies to mold. Since nothing on your site cautioned people with this allergy NOT to use it, I thought it was safe. I am now dealing with the worst sinus infection/reaction I have EVER had in my life. My nose has completely shut down and I cannot breathe. It is scary and I cannot sleep. I cannot breathe out of my mouth for any length of time because when I swallow or it gets too dry I wake up. I have not slept for weeks and finally called the allergy doctor. The first thing they said was to STOP USING VINEGAR. I am very angry that there were no cautions about this either on your website or Braggs'. I have also written to them. This ruins things for me every looking for alternative ways of dealing with chronic problems and doesn't say much for your information."

05/09/2010: Bessie from Calgary, Alberta, Canada replies: "Michele, I'm sorry that you had such a bad reaction to the ACV in your neti pot - although it seemed a long time coming if you did if for six months before having problems. Maybe using 1/2 teaspoon of ACV daily as a sinus wash was too much - did you try a few drops first? Unfortunately, not every remedy works for everyone all of the time - just like anything else in life. Anything you do (or eat, for that matter, in the case of allergies) is your own responsibility. Please don't blame Earth Clinic or Braggs - that's why companies have disclaimers . . . use at your own risk. I hope your problems resolve."
[YEA]  10/12/2011: Njhairguru from Closter, Nj replies: "I too am allergic to mold; I NEVER had ANY adverse reactions to using ACV. Maybe its just the mold "die off"... Just use sea salt, and "DRINK" the ACV instead. It will cure your rhinitis, allergies, etc. you"ll see..."

Then I read something about citric acid and how it is made from mold.. After starting to avoid it (IT IS HARD SINCE IT IS EVERYWHERE) I do feel better.. So if you are exposed to mold, look out for citric acid!"

I am about to be desensitized to mold via injections/drops under the tongue, but I am wondering if I start washing my hair with borax, and or injesting borax/clove oil/manganese/sodium ascorbate etc.. If it will have any effect on the desensitisation process?

Any reply would be greatly appreciated!"

[YEA]  01/10/2010: Angela from Cheltenham, England: "My daughter is a student and the house she shares is damp and full of fungus on the walls. Her room is the worst. When I went to pick her up for the Christmas holidays I took a plastic spray bottle of Borax and water (just put enough Borax in so that no more will dissolve). I sprayed the walls with it when I arrived and then wiped all the fungus off. After helping her pack I sprayed the walls again and just left them to dry. This was a last ditch attempt to make things better because the landlord would not do anything.

When I took her back after Christmas I didn't know what we would find but imagine my delight when we walked into her room to find not a trace of mould.

Thanks to all on this website who have written about Borax and how it kills fungus.

I hope this helps others in the same situation.

By the way, I live in the UK and it is impossible to buy Borax in any shop (even Boots). They are now selling something called 'Borax substitute' and no-one will give me a straight answer as to why they won't sell Borax. One assistant in Boots said that it was because old people used to put it in their eyes. Anyway, I eventually ordered a tiny amount from Amazon and to be honest you don't need a huge amount. Though one chemical company said they would sell it to my by the ton at a very good price."

I always suspect my clothes may pong of damp (although nobody else confirms it!). Another posting has suggested that inhaling the spores can cause all sorts of health problems, so Im really interested in your Borax suggestion.... so can you tell me where I can get some in the Cheltenham area. Thanks. Bev"

[YEA]  07/29/2008: Nicole from Chicago, IL: "Mold Toxicity and Chlorella: Once you no longer live or work in a moldy building, you will still have the neurotoxoins circulating in your body. The best way to remove them is to take a dose of chlorella (algae) 30 min before each meal, and the timing matters."

[NAY]  12/04/2009: Yvonne from Tempe, Az replies: "I've survived mold and done much research, I would disagree with chlorella and green juices in general, since these usually produce cooling and/or dampening conditions in the body which would only make the situation worsen. Avoid mushrooms too except chinese reishi mushroom."
12/10/2009: Anne Dublin from Dublin, Ireland replies: "Hi,

According to Paul Pitchford's 'healing with whole foods' the energy of Chorella is warming and doesn't cause or contribute to damp energetically speaking.

I'm on the colder side and don't find it cooling at all. I'm an acupuncturist and I've also suggested my clients who are on the energetically 'cold' side use it too and they have all found it helpful and not at all cooling."

DENY AIR AND WATER

YEA

[YEA]  05/07/2012: Grant from Huntsville, Ontario, Canada: "I'm so happy to find your site and know I'm not alone in my suffering of the past 10-15 years. During recovery from a past surgery, I was able to study more and found there were over 20,000 different mold types with no exact cure for them all. The World Health Organization says that mold health problems can only be cured by natural medicine methods. The many stories shared on this site will benefit so many sufferers.

There is the common recommendation of mold removal frequently using bleach related methods, but here's another fact. Mold is a plant. Plants will die without water or oxygen. Washing with bleach often kills the top of the plant, but not the root and it will grow back. Often repeated applications of bleach or some mold control sprays can go on for weeks or longer. If this "plant" could lose its water or air source, it has to die. In leaky basements, the mold grows on the concrete and wood. I tried sealing the moldy concrete floor with WD40. After two applications two weeks apart, the area has been mold free for years. Unfortunately the latest WD40 has changed its formula and no longer is effective.

BUT the idea works! The best substitute is Fluid Film. It's safe around food, etc., will not rot wood and has a pleasant smell. Simply clean off the mold, spray the area, scrub it lightly to work it into rough surfaces and re-apply. Touchup may be required in a few days. Because Fluid Film can be used as an automotive undercoating for rust, it sticks to vertical surfaces and seals from water exposure. With the roots sealed, the mold "plant" dies.

After posting this information on their website, the company sent me a huge thank you gift of promo goodies, and a local resort contacted me for more information.

Another suggestion along the same lines is aerosol auto paints to seal porous walls with surface mold. The paints are thin enough to seal rough surfaces, dry very quickly and are too smooth and hard for mold to grow on. I've also used engine oil on level cement surfaces. In my experience, I've never seen mold on old garage floors.

Hope this can be of help to those who cannot relocate."

ESSENTIAL OILS

YEA

[YEA]  09/14/2007: Debbie from Park Hills, MO: "M from Texas wrote about ailments possibly stemming from toxic mold. My young son and I are victims of toxic mold inhalation and exposure, so I have learned more about the subject than I ever wanted to know. The most important point I want to get to this person is, if you took things from that apartment, especially if mold was visible on them, you have just brought the problem with you. The mold is now growing in a new home, and you are still exposing yourself to it. My son and I had to leave everything behind and move from our home. Traditionally Western medical practioners do not even want to acknowledge the health problems associated with toxic mold; They have received no training for it in medical school, and there is pressure on them from numerous areas such as insurance companies, real estate management and developers, etc., to not acknowledge the affliction. I am treating my son with a number of natural remedies, although ACV hasn't been one of them, I intend to try it. But what I have found to be helpful is pure essential oils. Oregano is the best, but when mixed with Frankicense, and a special formulated blend of Clove, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Lemon, and Eucalytpus, the synergy of the Oregano is enhanced. I put these oils into a gelatin capsule and take them orally. I also get massages with oils over the spinal area which is where the fungi like to live, in the spinal fluid. These oils with the massage, called a Raindrop technique massage, will help drive the mold from your body. I do experience the mold ejecting from my body with skin bumps that spit out these nasty little white or brown crystal-like things, the size of a piece of salt or a little larger. They get easily infected, so it is important to keep the skin very clean, and to use Colloidial Silver or some other method the keep bacterial growth down. I am open for ideas to replace Colloidial Silver, because it is so very expensive. Any ideas?? Also, we now use a diffuser in our home which diffuses essential oils into the air we breathe. This has helped our conditions a lot, and it helps ensure that as molds are being tracked into our home, that we are killing them.

Just be sure that you are getting PURE ESSENTIAL OILS. They cannot be fragrance grade or be adulterated in any way. If anyone would like more information on where to get these oils, they can feel free to contact me at danngann@att,net. Love your site!!!!!!!! Ask all to pray for us, and for all victims of toxic mold."

Use bottled white vinegar if you wish, which does not contain the trace common vitamins that ACV does nor the mold. I'm still trying to figure this stuff out and appreciate your tips, I'm excited about the VCO, have tried caprylic acid but the spoonfuls of unrefined coconut oil seem more effective! Good luck to you and your son, God/dess bless."
08/15/2010: Laura from New York, Ny replies: "How long will it take to detox from exposure to mycotoxins? I've recently vacated my mold-infested apartment and have started taking essential oils, exercising regularly, and eating a low sugar, anti-yeast diet. My main symptoms are tingling, shaky arms and hands, muscle cramps, extreme fatigue, and chronic sinus infections. Over the last week symptoms have lessened slightly. I hope it will keep improving. Also, I left my apartment as soon as the mold was discovered (it was behind a wall and as soon as the area was exposed my symptoms kicked-in full force). I grabbed some clothes and ran. Is it safe to go back for my bed spread and sheets? Can they be salvaged by a hot wash? I don't want this to follow me."
08/15/2010: Tom from Regina, Sk replies: "Laura:

There is a little known G. P. Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker in Maryland on Chesapeake Bay who has been treating mold and other neurotoxin -exposed victims since the late 1990s! He runs several websites:

http://www.moldwarriors.com/

http://www.biotoxin.info/

If you have one or more of these unexplainable symptoms, you may have been exposed to a biotoxin. Our research in biotoxins began almost 10 years ago, and during that time we have treated over 5, 000 patients with Biotoxin-related Illness. Our cutting-edge work has led to the development of an a brand new on-line screening test which can be completed in about 20 minutes. (Unfortunately, this test is NOT free. )

http://www.chronicneurotoxins.com/

Since he's got several days' reading up on those sites, not including his several 300-500-page books, plus videos you can watch, maybe a snapshot of his work, his findings & the treatment protocol would be better first. It's CSM (cholestyramine, an Rx item):

http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?id=3990&t=CFIDS_FM

The main first thing to do always is to get out of harm's way by vacating any known mold source. A 2nd clear warning given among all this info is any unwell person is to stay away from any "moldy" foods. This would include anything from small rot spots on fruits to blue cheese and even Apple Cider Vinegar.

Here is one site which mentions Shoemaker, and which claims some kind of peach tree extract works to pull out the mold neurotoxins:
http://www.royalrife.com/mold_toxins.pdf

Here's another one with what looks like a lot of real info, or a complicated protocol to follow:
http://www.toxic-black-mold-syndrome.com/index.html

As far as salvaging your bedding, I don't know if you also mean the bed, which until the place is thoroughly cleaned up and defogged for days with either MMS (chlorine dioxide) or ozone, means it'll be thoroughly tainted. To prevent a really long post here, there's got to be scores of pest removal/mold remediation companies either online or in the Yellow Pages. You could call them or e-mail and ask each how EXACTLY they gas a contaminated building once the moldy parts are removed and replaced. I believe they call it 'tenting', and it's similar to the way they gas out termites and cockroaches."

[YEA]  04/05/2010: M.s from Athens, Greece: "So here it goes!

I am 18 years old and i had a mole on my cheek 5mm in diameter and slightly elevated. I wanted it desperately removed since i got it(5 years old), so when i was 15 i went to the dermatologist to have it removed. The dermatologist performed a shaving of the upper layer and then an electrocauterization(pretty painful). She told me to revisit her in 15 days. Well i went there after 15 days and guess what, the mole was still there.

She told me to come back in 3 months time because it was summer and she couldnt repeat the surgery again due to the sun. Because it would make my mole worse. I watched it over the summer getting a bit better. The swelling had gone away and it was a bit lighter. So i went to my dermatologist some days before the school started. The same procedure except for the shaving occured and i must admit that it was much better than before. The swelling went away after 1 month but i realised than not only the mole was there, under my skin this time like a big sun spot, but it was formed like clusters of small moles that looked like a melanoma, a condition also know as pseudomelanoma. In the following year i went to several plastic surgeon and all said that they couldnt remove it without leaving a very visible scar. I was so depressed, i had tried everything. From internet remedies such as lemon juice to expensive creams containing hydroquinone and other harmful chemicals only to leave my skin swelled.

I kept fighting my mole desperately till on month ago. I was doing a project on chemistry for the school. My research at that day was on oxidisers, so i came across hydrogen peroxide. That molecule was so fascinating. So i decided to research more on it. As i was searching a came across some articles about hydrogen peroxide and moles. I told my self, here is someting i havent tried yet. I searched on google and i found here at earth clinic may testimonials about mole cures and hydrogen peroxide. I was so amazed! It could even cure melanoma! So after extensive searching i decide that i should give it a try!

I went at the pharmacy and bought 3% hydrogen peroxide.

I then went home and soaked a piece of cotton a little bit bigger than my mole and kept rubbing it on the area for 10 minutes. Then i rinsed the area with water and applied a cotton soaked with aloe vera juice. I did this for 3 days 3 times a day and kept a cotton soaked with aloe juice overnight. At first hydrogen peroxide seemed that it did nothing but after the second application the area started to bubble and at the second day it started to sting. As i woke the third day a scab had formed. I decided not to mess with it because it would increase chances of scaring. After 9 applications of hydrogen peroxide for ten minutes then aloe(as much as the cotton soaked with aloe stayed wet) and then overnight applications of aloe i stopped using hydrogen peroxide. I kept using aloe overnight though until day five. Then i started applying petrolium jelly on the scab as often as i could, sometimes overnight to minimize scaring as i works like silicone sheets which are very costly(i also used petrolium jelly on the area everytime i would bath). 3 day ago(15 day after the treatment with hydrogen peroxide started) i woke up and noticed i had little to no scab and that at the place where the mole was i had skin which was a bit pink. I was stunt! I said, wow it actualy worked! And here i am 18 days after the first application completly healed :D. I am very thankful for earthclinic because it changed my life my this remedy!

Thank you earthclinic!! :D"

[YEA]  08/16/2010: Lera from St Petersburg, Fl: "2 years ago I was exposed to toxic mold in a building. I went to this building on a bi-weekly basis for 18 months and kept getting sicker and sicker. I was diagnosed with asthma (at a free clinic) and put on 2 meds. One for maintenance the other for emergency. My lungs became inflamed and I was using the inhaler constantly... I finally weaned myself off the inhalers and other meds. After doing research I did a cleanse with H2O2. It took me over 6 months to reach the full dose and then I reduced and am now maintaining at 22 drops per week. 3 months into the "detox" I also began oil pulling. My gums were receding and I had no energy. I bought 3 bottles of sunflower oil, within 2 weeks the sensitivity left my teeth and my gums began to reattach. I finally was regaining energy and I have not stopped either therapy, Now 2 times per week I use coconut oil, I love the taste and it seems to help my lungs stay clearer. I also inhale the H2O2 as shown on this site several times a day. My treatment started over 1 year ago. I refer many friends here and have even cured my dog of heartworms from your pet site suggestions. Thank you and please continue helping those of us who can't afford health insurance or doctors. QUESTION

[YEA]  01/05/2008: Robert from Naples, Florida: "The question of whether Vicks Vapo-Rub works on toenail fungus was the subject of a University of Michigan study about a decade ago. Their conclusion was positive; they isolated the specific ingredients that worked, and received U.S. Patent 6,361,785 (look it up to see the results of the research).

Also note that 90% of toenail fungus is caused by four dermatophytes that are the same culprits in athlete's foot and jock itch. (Therefore, to prevent re-infection, one must get the fungi everywhere - nails, feet, & crotch. Also change towels regularly, and don't dry your feet first, then transfer the fungus to another place.)

The formula (based on the research study, (which I've adapted for a more natural cure) is: 1 part Menthol oil
1 part Thymol oil
1 part Camphor oil
1 part Lemon Eucalyptus oil
1 part Tea Tree Oil
5 parts DMSO
5 parts Aloe Vera
5 parts Rubbing Alcohol
(the oils can be bought on e-bay, DMSO in a health store)

Apply twice a day to nails and feet. I've suffered from this vexing problem for 40 years, as did my mother and grandmother. It works."

Replies
01/06/2008: Ellen from Redwood Shores, CA replies: "To Robert: Were you successful in fully eradicating the toenail fungus? Btw, it was Michigan State University's patent, not University of Michigan. I did look it up and skimmed the Doctorese. I was familiar with the Meijer's Chest rub study. Thanks for providing this information!"
01/20/2008: Robert from Naples, Florida replies: "Robert's Fungus Saga – Vicks Update

Part One: Feet

Q. Do the ingredients (camphor, eucalyptus, thymol, menthol) work?

A. I've applied the solution on my nails as well as to my entire foot to get rid of all the fungus that might eventually cause a reoccurrence. The results were obvious after 4-5 days: first, the athlete's foot symptoms between my toes rapidly got better and were healed in about a week. Then, at the seven-day point lots of skin started sloughing off all over my feet where the fungus was obviously in hiding -- including the heal callus. I was surprised to see so much sloughing of the skin around the base, sides and top of the toe nails -- this area apparently had been deeply affected by the fungus, but just looked like tough skin that I had become accustomed to expect. Within 2-3 weeks the unaffected new toe nails could be seen at the cuticle. Now, several months later, there is a clear line of demarcation between the old fungal nail, and the new clear nail. I expect that it will be 3-4 more months before all the old nail has grown out and gone.

Q. Is the formulation the right one?

A. After much research and playing kitchen chemist, I learned that coconut oil is a good anti-fungal as well as a great emollient. DMSO doesn't need to be at 25% concentration. 10-15% is sufficient. Oregano Oil is composed of Thymol and University of Western Australia research proved tea tree oil's anti-fungal capability, so I added it as well. The essential oil amounts are at least or a little more than what bio-chemists call the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). The formulation I like and use now is:

Revised Formula
1 part Menthol oil
1 part Thymol oil or Oregano oil
1 part Camphor oil
1 part Lemon Eucalyptus oil
2 parts Tea Tree Oil
2 parts DMSO
12 parts Virgin Coconut Oil

There is probably a synergistic (i.e. harmonious working together) effect of anti-fungal herbs, which has been demonstrated in several studies. In one test of ten plant species whose oils were anti-fungal, researchers noted that "combinations of the anti-fungal essential oils increased their activity remarkably." In a similar study, researchers stated that "in all the oil combinations, the anti-fungal potency was found to increase over individual oils."

Part Two: Adult "Acne"

This is where the "saga" starts to get interesting. After my adolescent acne should have cleared up 35 years ago, it got slowly worse. All over the bearded part of my face, what appeared to be sacs of hardened oil under the surface of the skin had been forming nodules. These didn't get infected,' each just grew larger. Over the years I've seen dermatologists who said, because of my otherwise great health, "you're just a middle aged adolescent," blaming it on high testosterone, etc. The apparent acne problem continued and worsened.

I've seen doctors, dermatologists, pharmacists, herbalists, laser specialists, and spiritual healers. I've bought every acne ointment known to man. I took pills, vitamins, and herbs. I changed diet. I get plenty of exercise. Nothing worked. I had extensive surgery to correct the problem three years ago, and within 18 months it looked just as bad as before. As a public speaker and author in my profession, the skin condition was emotionally upsetting and stressful.
Having conquered toe nails, I started researching down the path that maybe the acne was caused by a fungus (although the symptoms didn't look like my feet). Was I surprised when I found:

" Tinea barbae is a superficial dermatophyte infection that is limited to the bearded areas of the face and neck and occurs almost exclusively in older adolescent and adult males. Symptoms include inflammatory, deep, kerion-like plaques and noninflammatory superficial patches and lumps resembling bacterial folliculitis. The hair breaks off below the skin surface. It is caused by several dermatophytes. Trichophyton species are most common. Infection of bearded skin may be the result of autoinoculation from tinea pedis or onychomycosis."

In other words, the mess on my face that had caused me so much grief and been misdiagnosed for decades was caused by the same fungus that gave my feet a problem. Apparently the dermatophytes enter the hair follicle (nails and hair are similar biological structures), then attack the sebaceous gland, feeding off the body oil; then the body's immune system reacts with scaring and hardening the facial oil, leaving an oil nodule. The dermatophytes then migrate to the next follicle, and eventually dozens of affected follicles link as a nodule the size of a pea.

Now it became obvious what had happened: The athlete's foot I got as a teenager went to my toe nails, and, because I was ignorant of the relationship of using a towel on my face that might have been used on my feet or crotch, the fungus got transferred.

Not a single dermatologist who examined my face ever bothered to ask the question: "Do you have toe nail fungus or athlete's foot!"

Using the same solution on my facial outbreaks as on my toe nails (the revised formula with coconut oil), the facial condition is clearing up. Just like with my feet, skin is sloughing off and the nodules are beginning to eject. This is the best result I've seen in years. I expect it will take a few months for the problem to be cured, as the fungus is down below the level of the base of the hair follicle in the sebaceous gland.

Part Three: Chronic Sinusitis

For the last 15 years I've had chronic sinusitis, post nasal drip, clogged nose, etc. I was constantly clearing my throat, and sometimes coughing. I snored a lot, which my wife didn't appreciate, and the snoring actually would wake me up in the middle of the night, leaving me tired in the morning. I seemed to catch colds more easily than before, but I attributed this to my very frequent plane travel.

Doctors prescribed antibiotics, but I they did not fully cure the problem and when I stopped the treatment, every symptom returned. (And I just don't like unnatural treatments.) Others said it was allergies.

I wondered: Could my sinusitis be a fungal problem? More exploring on the internet found the answer:

In 1999 Mayo Clinic researchers found the cause of most chronic sinus infections to be an immune system response to fungus, and that this may kick off a secondary bacteriological infection. It is not an allergic reaction, but an immune reaction.
Again, I felt betrayed by the medical profession. Why hadn't anyone told me this?

I went to the health and vitamin store to look for an anti-fungal nasal spray, and nothing met my requirements or budget ($10-15 for a one ounce bottle of ingredients seemed way out of line.) Here's the formula I "invented:"

1. Rinse out a 1 ounce nasal spray bottle
2. Add one eye-dropper (approximately 1 ML) of Oregano Juice (NOT Oregano Oil –it's too strong and will not dissolve in water)
3. Add a pinch of salt (approximately ½ ML) (Iodized salt is OK – iodine is a good anti-fungal)
4. Fill the rest of the sprayer with distilled water, and shake well until the salt is dissolved.

Spray as frequently as once an hour until symptoms subside. For me, this solution began working within an hour; most symptoms were gone in three days. And the price of the ingredients per bottle is just a few pennies.

If the oregano/saline solution is too strong for you, dilute in half with water. If you want, you can add a drop of eucalyptus oil with ½ ML of glycerin, (which will bond the oil to water). I now spray once or twice a day, just to prevent any recurrence.

A very dear friend, who is 75, has had awful sinusitis for years. He heavily cleared his throat every minute or two. I told him of this simple formula, and two days later he called me to say it was working. He then said with amazement: "I don't believe it, we've been talking for over 15 minutes and I haven't had to clear my throat once!"

There are articles and books that claim that some cancers are caused by fungus. If this is true, taking action on fungus early may be very beneficial in the long run. It's time we gave fungus a deeper analysis."

01/21/2008: Ellen from Redwood Shores, CA replies: "To Robert, Thank you for sharing your research with us. It is fascinating! I no doubt transferred my toenail fungus to my face and I also have Rosacea--do you? I did read somewhere recently that the oils are the best remedies and it certainly sounds like they are, judging from your research. Regarding your recipe, I do have a question. With coconut oil being a solid, how do I mix it with the other liquid oils? Thanks again for sharing! I am hopeful to see the line of demarcation, too!"
01/22/2008: Robert from Naples, Florida replies: "Coconut Oil melts at 80 degrees F. If it's solid, just run the container under warm water. The essential oils, when added, lower the melting point to below room temperature.

Regarding Rosacea, the following information may be helpful from internet research: "The Rosacea diagnosis includes a range of inflammatory events in facial skin. The range is so broad that it is reasonable to ask if Rosacea' is too fuzzy a term that can apply to diverse immune-mediated events in the skin with different causes.... Seborrhea is a related condition that involves the hair-bearing skin of the scalp and face, all expressions of infection with the fungus, pityriasis ovale. Seborrhea can involve the central forehead, skin under the eyebrows and beard and may contribute to or be confused with Rosacea."

Hope this helps."

09/18/2008: Amanda from Gainesville, FL replies: "Robert, I have been suffering from chronic sinunitis for years I am going to start trying your remedy today, I have also been suffering from abcessed boils for the same amount of time that I have had the chronic sinunitis, now I am wondering if they are related, the funniest thing is I never had a problem with any of this stuff until I moved to the state of FL, moving here from Bangor, ME. I thought it was from the mold counts here... I am not sure, let me know if you think your essential oil treatment would work on abcessed boils. thankyou so much for your information."
[QUESTION]  01/19/2009: Patty from Sioux Falls, SD replies: "Where do you find oregano juice, I have the oil but have not seen the juice.??"

MOLD IN YOUR BUILDING

[YEA]  03/30/2008: Nicole from Chicago, IL: "I wanted to say that if people have extremely chronic respiratory or nervous conditions, they ought to find out if they are living or working in a moldy building. Nothing cures that but getting out or fixing the problem in the house!"

[YEA]  09/18/2008: Renee from El Dorado, KS replies: "8 days ago two small, painful, splinter-looking bumps appeared just under my chin. To help the foreign particles escape, I poked a small hole in each. Instantly I recalled my toes* and sought to ward off infection... applying 3% H202 on and around. OMG!!! Second Degree burn from the bumps to the base of my chin and two areas of my neck. No reaction from 3% ever before.

*5 months ago both big and little toes became extremely infected... one 1/2 hard the other 1/2 gushy - and they really hurt. After 3 rounds of anti-biotics my toes still aren't quite right. Approx. 40% of each big toe remains numb. Forget standing for more than an hour or two... makes the toes scream!

First I thought I'd picked up Scabies. Nope. Then found a site called Morgellans and the Federal Government's Center for Disease Control. Talk about depressing! Kept looking. Parasites? Something is coming out of my skin... nasty looking too, especially under 30-times magnification! Rid Worm by Hartz (smile) didn't do anything and this seems to be getting worse.

While I check in on this site periodically (found numerous treatments here already when medical field left me desperate), it wasn't until early this morning I found my way back here. And boy did I come running back! Check out the Image Bank at drfungus.org. Yep! This seems the most likely fit to my symptoms... could be wrong though but worth a try.

I believe my home is sick. Mold in the bath room seemed contained behind shower wall. Kitchen sponge doesn't mold when I leave it full of soap to dry out. Other usual precautions when living in an old, moldy home. It gets worse. Two dogs have pee'd on my kitchen and living room carpet so many times that I've literally went nuts 3 times ripping out carpet... swore I wouldn't replace until they were gone. Finally this year... Fidos are gone - ruining my son's apartment carpet now.

Anyway... though I'd scrubbed all the yukky stuff from the sub floors... a dark gluey substance remained behind in numerous places - nothing I could think of touched it. I've just been throwing area rugs here and there to hide.

Was going to brush my hair - to check if scalp was red, bumpy, etc. There were things growing on my brush! Upon magnificatin, no doubt some form of mold has completely taken over when I wasn't looking. So here's I am!

Not really thinking, I picked up an area rug and poured H202 on the mysterious black tar/glue substance. Ahh, the trusted bubbles went to work. Within one minute I could see white spores beginning to appear from the blackened floor. Couldn't help but notice some of the disgusting particles I keep finding on my skin is also in this bubbling puddle of burn-the-damn-house-down mess. What is in the ceiling? Behind the walls? Under the other floor coverings? Ughhh!

http://aromatherapy4u.wordpress.com/2008/08/05/974/ has a doctor claiming Baking Soda kills Cancer which is really Yeast/Fungi. What the hell? I've already this in my home thanks to Earth Clinic! Rubbed it all over, head to toe... letting the crumbs fall where they may. Appears the mold on the floor will be much easier to remove than the re-dried mess the H202 left behind. Of course I'll be needing a Haz-Mat suit!

Hey, the burning itch hasn't bothered me in a few hours and one of my big toes is beginning to have feeling again!

No doubt will try many of the great ideas I've read this morning from all of you. Thanks! Oh... I'm pretty sure it is the Systemic Candidiasis I'm up against. Maybe I won't have to watch all my skin and hair rot off only to welcome the finalle of painful death.

Really folks, take a look at drfungus' "Clinical" pictures of Fungi/Yeast. The medical communities around the globe have no excuse for no education or treatment. I take their silence as a personal attack on all of us who have ever had, have, and will have to suffer from any type of fungi. Accountability is long over-due every where I look up, for this and for that. Thank God we've still got one another!"

09/18/2008: Renee from El Dorado, KS writes: "Duhhh, forgot my question.

How do I keep this out of my eyes? The yeast over-growth inside of me is apparently on the march and I've got white particles coming out of my skin and my eye socket tissues aren't exempt. Several times I've felt a pain/burn in an eye and upon looking I've got what now appears are small spores penetrating the actual eye ball... or maybe they're coming out of my eye balls!!!!

Blindness can be one of the end-effects!!! HELP!"

09/20/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Rene, Google SSKI (potassium iodide) and pull up one on Tahoma Clinic. SSKI was the first thing used to treat systemic candida. Dr. Wright has some excellent information on SSKI, how to use it, and what it does. Cutting out sugars & syrups from your diet also goes a long way toward getting rid of it. Please don't make the mistake of replacing sugar with aspartame (nutri-sweet) as it is a neurotoxin & damages the brain & central nervous system. Stevia is a safe substitute if you just must have everything sweetened."

MULTIPLE REMEDIES

02/27/2012: Frederick from Davenport, Iowa: "Hi, I have been reading and experiencing this symptom, not sure how I got it. I work in a grocery store, I have been in 2 abandonded houses and a dirty basement that are at the apartments I manage on the side. I also took 100 years of wall paper off my walls and re did the original plaster. I used 2 cups of bleach to disinfect, peroxide to open pores, borax to clean, and epsom salt to sooth an provide sulfur in a tub of hot water for 30 min. With a window vented and air dried. I found this topical containing 50% permetherin liquid with aloe and lanolin. It is for repelling flies, ticks and stuff. So far I feel good tonight I have tried tea tree oil and dermatitis creams and bag balm w/ sulfur. And a bleach water spray down which helped. I had also tried vinegar diluted and all that seemed to do is burn."

NYSTATIN

11/30/2011: Max from Chemainus, Bc Canada: "Thank you for the informative information regarding fungus and mold removal (internal and external) will follow up with your suggestions. curious I am though years ago a physician friend suggested I might have yeast build up (too much wine- he scoffed) his past included research on nystatin which he recommended I try. A diligent dietary regime followed, for 6 weeks culminating in the most violent headache, while out canoeing, I have ever experienced. Expected, warned by my friend but forgotten that day it was due he said to yeast die off in the brain the final frontier he used to joke. I never felt better following his "treatment"

My question would nystatin work for mold as well?"

Also Borax is a chemical- ingesting it is only putting more of a burden on a system that's already overburdened not the mention the possibility of poisoning yourself."

[YEA]  12/24/2009: Sammy from San Antonio, Tx: "Oil of Oregano after 3 months long nightmare

May of 2009 it started with sore throat and nasal congestion. 7th day i started feeling just fine. 8th day i woke up with a major sore throat then following 7 days i had chills (no fever) diarrhea, coughs, stabbing feeling all over my body. Then i went to see a doctor (no insurance) he said that my tonsils are infected so i have to take antibiotics and for hardship breating he gave me steroids. 4 days later tonsils still swollen and i cant breathe also diarrhea is full throttle. i was drinking 5-6 quarts of water every day. 19th day i went to see same doctor. listened to my lungs, ordered x-ray which came out clean and he told me that i am ok. BUT I WASNT. For diarrhea he diagnosed me with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) 6 days passed and my symphtoms are same but not getting worse.25th day i went and bought a humidifier for my room hoping to be able to sleep better. and also i wanted to close the a/c vent in my room. Right at that point I FACED THE REALITY. MOLD!!! my a/c vent was black in color. Very next day i called a company that tests homes for molds. Results came back in 3 days after i spent $400. my a/c unit had Aspergillus (high levels),Cladosporium (elevated levels) Penicillium (high levels). i went to see the doc again. he told me that its like impossible to prove that my health is bad because of those mold species. And addition to that he told me that skin prick test for this issue is expensive and i dont have insurance so he told me to just rest and pray that i will get better on my own. For the following 2 months i started getting worse. I quit my job. I was hopeless.

Then i read it somewhere on the net that OIL OF OREGANO will do the trick. I cut of eating anything that has yeast and started taking 4 oil of oregano capsuls every 8 hours and taking 1000mg vitamin c every 8 hours.Sublingual B12 25 drops everyday. 2nd day diarrhea gone. 7th day i am almost back to normal.

I hope this will help someone out there. I am a believer of oregano oils antifungal, antiviral, anti bacterial properties."

[YEA]  10/28/2008: Sarah from Ccworth, Georgia: "In response to the mold problem: You must kill the mold/fungus that resides inside of you. You must starve, kill, and remove.

#1.Fact. Sugar FEEDS mold and fungus inside us.

#2. Corn and wheat feeds them as well. Oil of oregano kills, Put as many drops as you can fit into a gelatin capsule. The taste is awful. But not when you take it like this. Take two capsules of this 3 times a day, till bottle is gone, remembering to stay OFF THE SUGAR, CORN and WHEAT. Mayo clinic findings has determined that there is nothing stronger to kill mold, fungus, bacterial and viral infections. i know this works. Check out Doug Kaulfmans web site. Garlic kills pathogens too. Research!!! many things kill these bastards. It may be essential to rotate. Garlic for 1 week. And I mean RAW, chopped up garlic,(with food in your tummmy before swallowing).etc."

OZONE TREATMENT

09/17/2010: Srindge from Melbourne, Fl, Usa: "My husband is an acupuncturist & we live in Melbourne, FL. We recently had our air conditioner upgraded. Unfortunately since our previous one was barely operational when the new one kicked on so did the mold that had accumulated. We used many of the methods so noted but also added ozone treatment. It took a couple of days (we ran ours 8 - 12 hours during the day)and there is no further sign. Unlike all the internal bodily solutions the ozone treatment attacks the problem at source within the home and behind the walls. We found the following for a friend in the Chicago area where one can rent the equipment. Consider renting equipment or having professionals ozonate your home for you."
