Natural treatment of Lichen Sclerosus involves a combination of dietary changes, home remedies and essential oils. Treatments like Apple Cider Vinegar can help heal the condition, while dietary changes like avoiding artificial sweeteners can help prevent future occurrences of LS.
What is Lichen Sclerosus
While a somewhat uncommon disorder, lichen sclerosus is a skin condition that affects individuals, particularly women, worldwide. The condition is typically characterized by patchy, white skin that appears thinner than normal. Lichen sclerosus can affect any part of the body, but it most often involves the genital and anal areas.
While several common symptoms have been identified in recent years, lichen sclerosus may present indirect or even unapparent symptoms. As such, it is often difficult to diagnose and is even often misdiagnosed. When symptoms do occur, the most common symptoms include severe itching, discomfort particularly when the condition is located in the genital or anal region, smooth white spots on the skin, blotchy or wrinkled patches, easy bruising and tearing, bleeding, blistering, ulcerations and pain during intercourse. It is important for an individual to seek treatment if she feels she may have symptoms similar to that of the condition or if she has previously been diagnosed with the condition.
Lichen sclerosis is often a pervasive condition that progresses and can lead to further complications if not treated. Persistent or recurrent lichen sclerosis in a particular location may increase an individual’s risk of skin cancer. The condition is also extremely painful for women. It often causes intense itching and scarring and can even narrow the opening of the vagina. The condition may involve such severe blistering that even the slightest pressure is unbearable. Treatment is crucial for preventing these issues.
Home Remedies For Lichen Sclerosus
Effectively treating Lichen Sclerosus often requires a combination of treatments. At any rate, treatment is possible and using home remedies often offers relief and healing. Natural options including apple cider vinegar, calendula oil and castor oil relieve soreness, redness and discomfort. Lavender oil, evening primrose oil and essiac tea also treat the condition.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar, diluted with water, can help relieve inflammation and itching when applied topically.
Neem Oil, a plant which comes from the Indian subcontinent and is made by pressing fruits and seeds into an oil, helps to heal the condition and prevent further progression of LS. Neem Oil can be mixed with Green Tea extract and applied topically.
Dietary changes are very important in healing this condition. Changing the diet to eliminate artificial sweeteners and avoid wheat and gluten is very beneficial.
Lichen Sclerosus is a pervasive condition that can progress and lead to further complications. Holistic treatments that focus on relieving inflammation and itching can play an important role in the healing process and can help prevent further progression of the disease.

[NAY] 09/18/2013: Geri from Kentucky: "This is in regard to Lichen Sclerosis:
I see where some say that a candida diet or taking Essia Tea will be of help, but I don't believe it for one minute. I have had no sugar for 6 months with very little bread and have been on a strict anti candida diet for 3 months (no nothing) along with drinking that tea and I just got LS."
[YEA] 12/02/2012: Tina from Sydney, Nsw Australia: "I was originally dianosed with Lichen Sclerosis in the late 80s (my early 20's) with extreme redness, swelling and white stripes on my labia minora. Treatment with cortisone via skin specialist was painful and did nothing. A naturopath put me on a Candida diet which we extended to wheat free whilst also using homemade golden seal pessaries nightly. In 9 months I had lost about 10kg (healthy weight for me) and all symptoms. My skin in that area has been thinner since and prone to minor splits, usually during times of stress and my periods. I'm not sure if it's related but I have also developed 4-5 largish subserosal amd pendunculated subserosal fibroids (up to 11cm) in the last 5 years.
Recently I have had a flare up of intense itching in the crease areas of the groin, also due to stress and can easily remove skin if I scratch even firmly. I will get it checked but am looking at the original solution to deal with it. I'm also looking at Red clover tea and will report what happens."
07/14/2011: R.l. from Fresno, Ca., U.s.a.: "I have vaginal Lichen symptoms and have had chronic vaginal candidas for many years. I am wondering if vaginal yeast infection is THE precursor to vaginal Lichen Sclerosus? Has anyone had the Lichen problem without a pre-existing candidas problem? Just trying to locate the possible origin of my condition. Thanks."Replies
07/22/2011: Kim from Effingham, Usa replies: "I have LS , never did have a yeast infection or bladder infection. Mine started after I had my hysterectomy. Then dx with hypothyroid. I have found a relief in my own concoction - through many trials... and think I might have gotten rid of it."
08/12/2011: Karen from Naples, Fl replies: "Im all ears... What's your concoction? I would love to know. Thanks, ~Karen"
08/16/2011: Kim from Effingham, Usa replies: "Hello,
I have had some success with all the self experiements I have tried.
The ACV completely stopped all symptoms for me, but I couldn't take the ACV as it thinned my bones and bothered my joints. I found a interesting article at Pubmed indicating that acetic acid (ACV) stops MS symptoms, in relation to inhibiting a gene tranference. The following was a conclusion about LS being related to an oxidized state and recommending anti-oxidants - thus my remedy below.
The enzymatic antioxidant defence in LS was found to be significantly disturbed. CONCLUSIONS: This is the first study to demonstrate oxidative damage to lipids, DNA and proteins in LS, revealing a novel pathophysiological mechanism which may contribute to sclerosis, autoimmunity and carcinogenesis. Therapeutic strategies using antioxidants might be a useful new approach in the treatment of LS and could also help to prevent secondary malignancies.
For the Itch, I buy PURE Aloe Vera, mix with Lysine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Cystene, Primerose oil (a few drops), Grapeseed extract and it usually keeps that BAD fire at bay without any flare ups and without the itch. I have had it for 11 years and only have (1) 1/4 inch scar. I do have some atrophy, but that came from attempting to use OTC steriod creme (absolute no-no). The scar over my pubic bone completely resolve using the ACV and above remedy. I thought I was totally resolved when I was taking the Vinegar daily, I had nothing, no symptoms and skin was regaining pink color. I stopped taking vinegar because it was demineralizing my bones - started noticing joint and back issues.
I regained minimal symptoms when stopped so continue to use above mixture with good results to stop the progression. I am going to start adding Hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide to the mixture. I am going to start taking niacinamide (small dose as it can be toxic if to much) I am hoping for a straight out healing!!! I am certain it is related to thyroid issues - that started when they put me on Premarin after hysterectomy - causing my thryroid to fail completely. I will post with results.
TED - HELP!!!!
I want to know if Ted would answer a question. I have been taking Armour Thyroid for 11 years, did an Ultra sound found out the thyroid tissue has regenerated. Is there anyway... somehow I can get off of the medication? Have your ever heard of this?
08/17/2011: Kim from Effingham, Usa replies: "Hello again, I wasn't to clear on the MS and LS connection... According to research taking Vinegar stopped MS symptoms (auto-immune symptoms), when I took Vinegar for LS my symptoms stopped. LS is an auto-immune condition. Acetic acid (vinegar stops the reaction). Has anyone else tried oral vinegar for LS? It worked for me, but again I can't do it because it demineralizes my bones."
02/17/2012: Pincky from Lagos, Nigeria replies: "Try chitosan capsules by tiens. It made those horrible white patches on my vulva disappear completely. I mean completely!"
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 12/15/2009: Mary from Valencia, Ca Usa: "I have had Lichen Sclerosus (LS) for 2 1/2 yrs with almost no itching but lots of inflammation and soreness. The steroid ointments just seemed to make it worse. I tried apple cider vinagar on a little cotton with water and this seems to help the inflammation. I can't wear underwear/long pants as it seems to irritate the area. Does anyone else have the same type of LS? I am tired of going around in my nightgown. Thanks"Replies
01/30/2011: 3unicoyds from L.a., Ca Usa replies: "In 8/2010 I was diagnosed with L.S. After a routine pap. I am 45, on a high dose estrogen birth control pill. So lack of estrogen, confuses me. 1/2 my clitoris is closed up and I had NO SYMPTOMS! Needless to say I am shocked. I have been battling body pain for 2 years maybe fibromyalgia, symptoms are similiar and on several medications. I did recently test for HPV, but they say no connection. I am using steroid, but no change. Yahoo has an excellent support group for this too. But has anyone found anything to reverse the skin closing? I do not want to have surgery, but seriously my clit. Please there are few things in life I am not willing to give up and that is one of them. HELP. Thanks"
07/01/2014: Diane from Perkasie, Pa replies: "Re: Improving Lichen Sclerosus With Diet: I have improved all of my inflammatory conditions through better eating. Everything you put in your body can either cause inflammation or heal it. I am a Wellness coach and have helped others to reverse these conditions through better eating. Start with reading about Mark Hyman or Dr. Andrew Weil, all about how processed foods cause inflammation. Hope this helps"
[YEA] 11/10/2013: Mom from New York: "Hi, I have had Lichen Sclerosus (LS) most of my life, it was finally diagnosed 2 years ago and I had surgery 1 year ago. It helped alot. I have tried apple cidar vinegar, it helps a lot, I also will drink it! This is a life savor. I have recenlty found that applying lavender essential oils made thy itching stop immediately! Try a spot to make sure it doesn't burn. It did not burn me, but was slightly warm. It did not cause any other yeast infections or BV at all, which I was worried about. I am one of those weird people who get both at the same time. Try it! It helped a lot!!!"
[YEA] 08/05/2012: Carol from Gardner, Ks.: "I have LS. Was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago... I was prescribed the steroid cream and it caused atrophy really bad.. Clitoris disappeared.. I no longer use it. I have severe itching and pain when I urinate and it gets on labia. I read on here about the baking soda.. I tried it last evening but I added baby oil. I am simply amazed at the progress I made with this combination... I actually got some sleep... I also have sjogrens disease which is in the lupus family, I am diabetic, and have fibromyalgia... This combination has helped me more than anything I have tried... Any more input would be much appreciated. thanks so much for the baking soda tip...carol"Replies
03/05/2014: Worried from Yorkshre, Uk replies: "I believe the genital warts mentioned are actualy moles, which are common with LS. Whoever mentioned that a 5 year old child shouldn't have genital warts is a scaremonger!"
[YEA] 12/31/2011: Jay from Pueblo, Co: "I am a 67 year old male. I have had Lichens since about age 50. It started with extreme pain in the anal area. It was so severe I used a linament intended for livestock for relief. It was not diagnosed until 3 years ago, and my GP and Dermatologist seemed baffled about the whole thing. I don't think I can describe how painful this condition has been, but at times it felt like I had a razor blade between my buttocks. I have been thru all the steroid creams etc. With no effect. About a year ago a friend recommended baking soda and it has been a lifesaver for me. I soak at least once a day in baking soda bath, and the pain relief has been miraculous. I can usually function for 8 to 10 hours without pain, however I am still plagued by itching. It is best described as like poison Ivy, the more you scratch the worse it gets. I believe that the itch is caused or aggravated by my coffee consumtion, and I am trying to cut back on that. I apply a cream after bathing (Nupercainal) and that usually gets me thru the day. The itch, which is driving me crazy, is usually at night and effects my sleep patterns. I only saw one reference to baking soda in earlier posts, but I can assure you that it has been extremely helpful to me in the relief of pain. I am hoping that eliminating coffee will relieve the itching and in the mean time , I use the same ointment for temporary relief, or just take another bath in very hot water with the baking soda."Replies
12/31/2011: Dud from The Woods Of, Wv, Usa replies: "Jay, why don't you try a series of 30 minute sitz baths using 1 tablespoon of borax washingn powder in the water, You could even throw in some baking powder if you wanted to. the borax is a powerfull fungicide, bacteria-cide, parasite-ide..... According to all reports on earthclinic.com.... Also safe to use. Even works on dog mange. Maybe throw in some hydrogen peroxide into the sitz bath also.
2nd idea: make yourself some garlic oil out of raw garlic infused in either virgin coconut oil, or cold pressed castor oil. Then use it as a lotion on the skin during the day. also a powerfull fungicide bacteria-cide. go to this website for directions on how to make it:
Garlic Oil Ointment
3rd idea - use castor oil as a anti-biotic salve on the area. It by its self is a anti-bacterial, anti-fungal. For some reason this is never pointed out by anyone. even the people who advocate it's use."
06/12/2012: Mo from Totnes, Uk replies: "Yes, I use castor oil. I agree with this. I use it in tandem with "Argile Verte" from France. This is green clay it comes in powder form. You mix it with clean water. I use spring water. And a wooden spoon. It has to be wooden. Mix it into a paste and apply. What a releif. It cools down takes the inflamation down and each time I go to the loo I wash and apply some more. If at home I wear no nickers. If at work I wear a pad. Et voila. I have lived with this condition for 20 years. I tried all sorts. I suffered undescribably, but never ever used sterpoid cream. One day I went along with and got the cream. It sat on the shelf after a year I took it back to the chemist. I know this condition is here for a reason. For me my reason is because I hated my genitals. Plus I loved myself less. Now I love me and my genitals. And I know I am getting closer and closer to healing this very stubborn conditions. Last of all. Go to the dead sea for 28 days. If you do not heal completely at least you will feel sooooo much better. I sat with my legs open facing the sun. 8 hours per day. Hard work but worth it. For releif I also have used ice packs. And what about colloidal silver? it is so good this spray. Helps stop the itch. Keep spraying. Above all don't give up. And don't "beat yourself up like I used to do. I still have LS but I've learnt to love my condition as it tels me when I do not take care of myself. Put yourself first. Love yourself you're not a freak. Tke care of it because you love yourself not because you are afraid it might get worse. It's all in the mind. I was 42 when I first was diagnosed with it and now I am 62. I couldn't be any happier in my life because I can say that now I love myself. Thank you for reading this."
07/25/2012: Mommywantstomakeit Better from Lebanon, Missouri, Usa replies: "Hello. Thank you for this website. I did not know how serious this condition was until reading comments. My five year old daughter was recently dx with Lichen Sclerosus at her five year well check up. Before that, she was always complaining about it itching and hurting. I assumed she was getting a bladder infection, and gave her cranberry juice, since she always complained about it when she urinated; or, that she had pinworms, since she seemed to be the only one of the kids who got them. Her vagina always looks irritated. After the doctor diagnosed her, he gave her some Elidel. It helped with the itching at first, but it would make it hurt worse. I don't know what to do. I just want to make it better. Also, she had a genital wart and it went away, and the dr thinks that is how she got the LS. Also, I have hypothyroidism and heard some of the comments say it is hereditary and a possible cause of LS. Please help me. She is only five, and I don't know what to try for such a young age afflicted by LS. After reading your comments, I understand the pain she is going through. I just want her to be healthy and happy. Please help me to make it all better."
11/05/2012: Lydnatmom from Jeffersonville, In replies: "My daughter is 4 and recently diagnosed. I don't know much about it either yet. Just wanted you to know you aren't alone and it's nice to know (even though I wouldn't wish this on anyone, ESPECIALLY a child) that me and my daughter aren't alone either. I know with my daughter I have stopped making her wear underwear and just have her in sweat pants most the time. NEVER in jeans and that seems to help a LOT. Also her doc prescribed Lidocaine in addition to the clobetasol and it seems to really help too. The doc told us not to use any soap "down there" and only soap free products for the rest of her body. I hope something in here helps you! Good luck to your daughter!"
01/21/2013: Youngandhavels. from Lansing, Michigan replies: "I saw this post and wanted to respond to it! Mommywantstomakeitbetter post in July! I hope you're still on here! Genital warts are a sexually transmitted disease! How is it that your 5 year old has a genital wart? I would be freaking out if my child had that! How is it that your Dr. did not call social services on you? And you do not get L.S. from genital warts! It is an autoimmune disease! I have LS and got it at age 28 and my Dr. didn't think that I had it. She kept telling me it was an old lady disease. I researched it and found out what I had on my very own and made her do a biopsy and sure enough I was correct! I ended up doing tons of research and changed my diet and used clobetasol propionate along with emu oil and ended up having it go into remission and now it is back at age 45! I have been under alot of stress and I do think that can bring it on. I am now back on my special diet and trying to get it under control and am praying I can get it back in remission again. I also pray my girls never get this! I really pray that your daughter's goes into remission. I have learned that it usually does when young kids get it. However I am really concerned as to why a 5 year old would have a genital wart and can't believe that no one on here has asked you how in the world she got that! And why your Dr. isn't wondering the same thing? I would be freaking out if I was you I am freaking out and I am not you! And I would use Emu oil in addition to clobetasol propionate on your daughter. I am praying for her! No child should have to deal with this horrible disease. The itching is enough to drive you mad!"
01/21/2013: Christina from Winnemucca, Nevada replies: "Maybe the child got genital warts from the Mother through birth."
01/22/2013: Ladywolfdg from Somewhere, Tx replies: "A 5 yr old that has GENITAL WARTS and neither the mom or doctor knows that this is transmitted through sex! Someone is LYING! Someone gave that poor girl a disease! I would take her to another doctor, because the former doctor may had sex with her when the mom was NOT looking! Get real!! She would NOT have gotten it from birth either!"
01/22/2013: Feelbetter from Phoenix, Az replies: "Did anyone in the family have any warts or even recent vaccination for genital warts? I believe that they are very contagious and can transfer to the genital area by touch by the child itself. I am in no way ruling out that the child has been abused, but I just remember reading that somewhere. You might want to research that possible route of transmission."
01/22/2013: Kitty from May's Landing, Nj replies: "Yes, the doc should have had red flags raised, my goodness! One other possibility is that it was molluscum cantagiosum and not a genital wart. MC is very common in children (they get it on playground equipment) and can look like genital warts. Here's an article I found about distinguishing between the two: http://goaskalice.columbia.edu/how-tell-mollusca-genital-warts"
01/24/2013: P from Anon replies: "We need to be very careful in making this sort of acusations. I say this as a male who has had anal warts (but no anal sex). I removed them with ACV then took care of my health to up my immune system. They never returned. I also tested negative for herpes.
Just be careful not to destroy someone's life and career based on "modern" science that at times is, at best, questionable, and downright criminal other times. That being said, you should explore all possibilities."
01/24/2013: Christina from Winnemucca, Nv replies: "@ladywolfdg - it is rare to pass on hpv or genital warts to your children through birth but certainly not impossible."
03/02/2013: Aphrodite from Miami replies: "@youngandraveld: I was a nanny and the newborn I took care of had genital warts. It's something u inherit even if both parent don't have signs or symptomes! It's something ur actually supposed to know and learn in school, obviously not in amerikan schools!!! Now she is 7 and its been gone. Aint non to freak out about so chill out, ur a growen woman!!! To all the others suffering from LS. I am 28 years and suffering for it for good 7 years. I know abuse and rape and the stress within triggered it. I got diagnosed about less then a year ago. I heard emu oil is supposed to give great relieve. Local health stores don't carry it. So I got neem oil, coconut oil and I will get a bottel of liquid lysene capsulas, which I will open and apply direct of the vulva. These are some great natural remedies. I do not support steroid creams, they will make it worse on the end with thining the skin over time."
05/06/2013: Cazza from Sydney, Australia replies: "I use pawpaw ointment. It stops the itch immediately. It won't cure the LS but it makes the pain and itch go away immediately."
09/15/2013: Ls Is Not G Warts from Knox, Tn replies: "This is not about people with genital warts! Lichen Sclerosus (LS) and warts are not related. LS is also not related to hpv. I think these posts may cause unnessary stress to parents."
03/16/2014: Daniela from Victoria Australia replies: "I am a 45 year old woman who was born with the herpes simplex virus, passed to me whilst my mother was giving birth. Though this is a rare way to contract the virus; it is not impossible.I have been on antiviral drug therapy most of my life so please be careful when making comments about sexual abuse. My mother and grandmother both have herpes simplex. I have genital herpes and nil hearing from my right ear."
[YEA] 10/28/2011: Angela from Tehachapi, Ca: "I have LS my condition has been very severe. I read on this site that someone used Baking Soda in there bath. So since all the other remedies seem to be costly and hardly effective I tried it. Let me tell you IT WORKS. I used 1/2 a box of Baking Soda in the tub and soaked for 30 minutes. I know that sounds like alot of Baking Soda but I was afraid less would not be as effective. After my first soak I did not itch for 3 hours. After 2 weeks I visibly look close to normal. I use 1/2 a box every other day. The itch is still there I am working on my own mix of oils and shea butter to stop the itch and restore myself to 100%. I will write more if my mix works I am still waiting on the supplies."
12/05/2010: Anna from Toogoolawah, Queensland Australia: "Asian ladies report that LS is caused through the non washing of new under garments before wearing. I worked in China for 10 years and developed LS whilst there and went to see a doctor (Western man) he had no idea of what it was or how to treat it. I went to a pharmacy and the old gent told me the cause was due to new clothes unwashed first as they were contaminated with all sorts of chemicals. Same applies to chain store(cheap imported clothing) clothing.
I use Neem 100% pure oil after I have soaked in a small bath (baby bath if you can fit lower end in it) in Magnesium Chloride flakes once a week for about 20-30 minutes. 2 table spoons to half a bucket or 5 litres of warm water. Relax and read a book or something. Wont cure it but it brings relief and you wont be using dangerous/harmful drugs."Replies
12/06/2010: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "It was either last year or early this year there was a report on a TV show (Landline I think) about the amount of formaldehyde that is in imported clothes that are made overseas. 700 times (and no the 700 is not a misprint) the normal level of formaldehyde was found when they tested them. It is used to help prevent creases and prevent insect and rodent damage whilst in storage. So who knows what other chemicals are used as well. I know of many people (myself included) who cannot even touch new clothes or any new material. It used to take 2 or 3 washes before I could use anything new. I used to have my mum or a friend do the 1st wash for me and then we could have it in our laundry. It now takes 7 - 8 washes before I can touch them. This includes soakings in bi-carb soda before washing. The last pkt of knickers have been washed so many times and left out in the rain but I still cannot get them clear. So it looks like the pennies will need to be saved to buy organic underwear."
05/27/2014: Wendy from Canada replies: "I have had LS for 7 years. I always wash my clothing, etc before wearing them."
12/06/2010: Victoria from Wichita, Kansas: "Has anyone tried Coconut Oil for this condition (LS) ?"
[YEA] 05/18/2013: Ann from Kennesaw, Ga: "Have had LS for last six years. Severe pain and itching. Some days could hardly walk. I starting using cold water in a sitz bath every day what a relief. Every time I urinated poured cold water from tap overVJ. Also take evening primrose oil two or three a day. At night open a gel cap of the oil put on VJ. I am 90% better. I have tried everything. Cold Water is working for me."
[YEA] 01/21/2011: Lori7nty7 from Nashville, Tn/usa: "For Lichen Sclerosus, eliminate diet drinks, Soda and Crystal Light sweetened with aspartame from your diet. Aspartame is made out of wood alcohol, a toxin. When Aspartame 1st came out many years ago, I had the same symptoms, they now call Lichen Sclerosis. My doctor worked with me eliminating foods and drinks I was ingesting. We found my symptoms would elevate after aspartame drinks. After eliminating aspartame from my diet, I felt relief within a few weeks. Although it took a year to clear up all symptoms. I have been free of all symptoms for many years now. I read all labels, I do not eat or drink anything with aspartame."Replies
05/22/2014: Rita from United States replies: "I have noticed a lot of comments about artificial sweeteners being suspect. Not true in my case. I am 45 years old and have always avoided artificial sweeteners due to the controversies. I have found that less sugar, in general, has helped with mine. When I was first diagnosed, I was given Clobetasol. At the time, my vulva had scarring but nothing like it does now. I won't be graphic but I do believe the steroid cream/ointment is what has caused even more narrowing/scarring at my vaginal opening and various other important areas. I also, strongly believe, I have an undiagnosed thyroid issue."
[YEA] 07/23/2009: Kerry from Wenatchee, WA: "I was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis 4 years ago in genital area and my eye lids. What I found that helps the most is to eliminate dairy from my diet. For a year or more, I had to eliminate all mammal products too. So no dairy, pig, cow, lamb, etc. So first, figure out if you have a food sensitivity. Second, DON'T eat foods that bother you. Gas, diarrhea, bloating, constipation. These are all signs that your body can't tolerate what ever you ate. Symptoms can be fairly immediate to 24 hours later.
Third, take a high quality fish oil. For me, 4,ooo mg seem to do the trick. I don't have any vaginal itching and my eyelids don't stick to my eyeballs at night as long as I unless I indulge in cheesecake on my birthday or forget to take the fish oil.
As a side note, as of two years ago, I have adrenal fatigue too. These measures help with that too."
09/24/2009: Jackie from Houston, Tx replies: "Hi Kerry,
I noticed that you mentioned you had this Lichen Sclerosis on your eyelids. Can you describe what the symptoms are on the eye? I believe I have LS in the nether regions but noticed that my eyes have been very dry and itchy. I thought that maybe there is a connection.
Jackie : )"
09/29/2009: Paula from Garrison, Ky replies: "I have noticed the same thing, all meat, dairy and even sugar acts up my LS horribly. Ive basically went Vegan since the perscribed cream did nothing for me and my dr ran out of options and I was told to "learn to deal with it". I went on an all juice diet thinking it might be linked to my thyroid or something else so I juiced daily, then I noticed I felt great during the 7 days of all juice, when I added in food back in its when I noticed the symptoms back with in minutes of eating certain food. The only time my LS goes away is when Im sick then I have No LS at all until my cold/flu goes away then it comes back with a vengance!!!"
09/12/2010: Frannie from Wilsonville, Or replies: "Kerry from Winatchee....... I also suffer from both ailments - adrenal fatigue and lichen schlerosis. I had the lichen schlerosis under control with steroids, but now it's back worse than ever a few years later. I'm looking for a better solution. Natural if possible."
09/12/2010: Rob from Manhattan, New York replies: "Some herbs to address adrenal fatigue are, Ashwaganda, and Rhodiola.... I would add to that a good mushroom formula with Reishi... Or AHCC if you can afford it. Also the B12, B6 and Folic acid to low homocysteine.. You will notice a difference with the above... But most importantly, exercise, (yoga) and meditation (walking, breathing)"
[YEA] 03/21/2013: Suzzie from Portland, Oregon: "Eating Wheat was what was causing my Lichen Sclerosus symptoms. The symptoms I had was shrinking labia minor, horrible drive me crazy itching of my clitoris and the area to the entrance to my vagina was not supple at all and was painfully tight. When I quit eating wheat, the itching completely stopped after about a week. (It may take longer for someone else to experience total relief, as the effects of wheat can stay in the body for 6 months) After a month off Wheat, the tissue in my labia minor has started to plump up again and the entrance to my vagina is now supple and stretches like it should. No more pain!!! Halleluiah!
I encourage everyone to read the book "Wheat Belly" by William Davis MD. Modern Wheat has an inflammatory effect on the body, whether you feel the symptoms or not. There is a myriad of diseases that disappear when wheat is eliminated from the diet. Modern Wheat has more in it than just the gluten that causes allergies and doctors do not test for these. Even whole wheat bread (thought to be healthier than white bread) will raise your blood sugar higher than eating a candy bar! There is an episode of Dr. Oz where they showed this is true. This is true even if the bread is made from organic wheat.
To add to the inflammatory effect on the body of Wheat, here in the United States, 90% of the wheat (including corn, soy and canola) produced is "RoundUp Ready". (Only a few years ago that number was 60%) It has roundup poison molecule inserted into the grain so the fields can be sprayed to kill only the weeds. Then the whole field is sprayed with RoundUp, which is absorbed into the crop adding more poison which is later ingested by animals and people. In the US they do not have to label any food that is GM. Every time it goes to vote the industry uses scare tactics about the cost of food going up as a result of new labeling laws. This is simply not true. Many grocery prices have doubled in the past 5 years regardless. You can't put a price on our health, because the alternative is costly for sure! * * * I believe we are already seeing the health consequences from these genetically modified foods, but we can't yet prove it is due to them. I think we are going to see more illnesses that used to be rare, and see new unexplained illnesses due to GM RoundUp ready foods."Replies
09/03/2013: Effingham from USA replies: "Well, it is 2013... Just wanted to let everyone know, I have managed this disease very well with the "Curezone". After careful research and self experiments... I must agree with Suzzie from Oregon. I have read Wheat Belly, but realized this before the release of the book. Found out that eating GMO chips (corn) would send my LS through the roof. I also noticed other products - milk, breads.. They all have in common the GMO.. Round up toxified stuff. I made an honest effort to stop all these and my symptoms clear up. I rarely use the curezone, unless I eat these poisonous foods. Check out all the research on "hyperimmune" and "autoimmune" also "genetic transfer" of the altered DNA in GMO's.. Which could cause permanent changes in our DNA in turn which constantly triggers above responses. Stop the insanity of this food. Why is it that other countries outlaw it but not the USA. This has to be the culprit like the "immune" issues the Bee's are presenting with... Food for thought. Peace."
[YEA] 02/11/2012: Relief At Last from Toronto, On: "Hello, I have had LS for about 5 months now. It went from a patch of white skin to scaling skin in very quick order. As I did not want to use steroid creams I researched the internet for alternate solutions. I have added a probiotic to my diet, drink more water, and generally try to keep all sugars and processed foods out of my diet. After trying a few alternate solutions that only temporarily stopped itching, I ordered some Pure Emu oil and although I have only been using for a week I am pleasantly surprised. No itching, the skin seems to be returning right back to normal-texturewise. I will have to wait to see if the white patch returns to its natural colour.
I plan to check in here in a few weeks to update on my condition.
Good Luck to all. This is a horrid thing to live with."Replies
