GENERAL FEEDBACK

09/21/2011: Linda from Dublin, Ireland writes: "I hope this doesn't sound mad but the other day I stubbed my finger and straight away stuck it in my mouth but weirdly it tasted of mold. Since then I've noticed it again but it seems to be gone now. I'm madly curious as to why your finger would taste of mold. I dont think I have candida but maybe I do!! . I would love to know-am I alone or does this suggest that I have a fungus or mold problem. Any feedback back would be great. Thanks."
Replies09/23/2011: Sara from The Beach, Canada replies: "I have been doing a candida clean up for the last few weeks, and I am just starting to introduce acidophyllis back to my body plus enzymes, the last few days I have noticed a taste of mold occationally. I too found that weird, but assumed it was part of the prossess because it can take a very long time to be rid of candida. I went the coconut oil and creme of tarter route to cause the die off, lots of skin rashes, but they are calming down now."

07/06/2011: Codexaureus from Columbus, Ohio writes: "Bad infection between the little and fourth toes. Dragged what may have been fungus to the surface by electrifying the skin with a puls generator (1-2mA at 5V, 30kHz pulse). The electrodes were two small pieces of copper tubing, the negative electrode placed between the little and fourth toes, the positive between the big and second toes. Removed some small 'white wires' that came to the surface.
After the skin healed up a small metal pin was placed between the little and fourth toes. The negative electrode was connected to the pin, the positive electrode was placed in the mouth with enough saliva to increase the area of conductance. A small protrusion of pus came to the surface. Charge flow was increased to 20-25mA at 5V. White staphylococcus aureus necrotizing fasciitis became visible right below the surface of the skin.
This infection would have and probably has gone unnoticed for years. Antifungal creams sometimes with corticosteroids were prescribed in the past never completely curing the infection. Possible eczema and sensitivity to fungi were the only conclusions.
For the necrotizing fasciitis a 10 day course of 30 amoxicillin/clavulanic acid pills (500mg/125mg) were prescribed. To increase treatment effectiveness a blue light-emitting diode was directed at the site of infection (blue light phototherapy kills Staphylococcus aureus).
P.S. Treatment with lytic bacteriophages is also possible but mainly for multidrug resistant bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus resists human defensins by production of staphylokinase. Fungi evade the immune system of their hosts by secreting extracellular protein 6."

05/13/2011: Kathie from Houston, United States writes: "I struggled with sinus infections for years. Many antibiotics later, I had sinus surgery (they basicly scraped out my sinus membrane to allow a new healthy one to grow back). Unfortunatly, because I had taken so many antibiotics for the issue, fungus had taken hold in my body -this, I did not find out about until several years later. So for two years following my sinus surgery, I experienced a "smell" inside my sinus that smelled like old trash (as I reflect on it, it was a sweet stink much like you would smell from a trash can at the circus or carnival). I was cured of the sinus infections, yet emotionally miserable (I contemplated suicide because I was smelling trash 24 hours a day). I kept going to doctors, even an infectious disease Dr. and they kept putting me on more ANTIBIOTICS!!!
At this time I was also having some hormonal issues so I went to a Dr. that perscribed natural hormones and put me on a wheat and sugar free diet for two months. It worked wonders for my hormones as well as my sinus "stink". However, several years later, the stink came back and I did not have the discipline to follow the diet again. One day, shortly after the "stink" came back I blew my nose and a big BLACK CHUNK of something came out. Luckily I was able to save it in a sterile container that my Dr. had given me at an earlier date. I took it to my Dr. and she had it tested. It took about a month and a half for the specimen to grow. However, the wait was worth it... It was CANDIDA ALBICANS. (Note that it is very difficult to test positive for Candida Albicans because it is rare to get a good sample.. Most people do not just happen to blow a good sample out of their nose like I did! ) Fungus or yeast had been growing in my sinuses because of all the antibiotics I had taken. This makes sence why the wheat and sugar free diet worked.
After the diagnosis of candida, I began nasel washes with probiotics in my nasel wash solution of 2 parts salt to 1 part baking soda (about a quarter to a half teaspoon to a cup of warm water). I also added lavendar essential oil to the baking soda and salt (before adding it to water... I would mix up about a half cup of the b soda and salt and add two drops of Lavendar eo. - it is important to note that you should not use regular table salt... It has anticaking additives, use pickeling salt). I also took extra B vitamines. Lavendar and B3 are great antifungals (see the following links). Turns out that many cronic sinus infections were fungal related as studies are showing that most are...

I have been "stink free" for several years now and only have an occasional sinus problem that a nasal wash takes care of.
I hope that this helps someone struggling, Kathie"
Replies05/14/2011: Randy from Jersey City, Nj, Usa replies: "thanks for these tips Kathie. do you think these remedies could be used for intestinal candida issues? also, the B3 article specifically discusses the vitamin in the form of 'nicotinamide. ' how can I be sure that this is the specific form of B3 used in any particular supplement? I don't see it listed as an ingredient in the ones I've looked at. thanks ;)"
05/15/2011: Kathie from Houston, United States replies: "Randy, Nicotinamide can be purchased as a single ingedient vitamin. When my tongue had turned black from the candida, I began using lavendar "internally" in a way... I would gently scrape my tongue then rub in a couple of drops on my tongue 2-3 times per day. I have heard of people putting the essential oil on a charcoal tablet and then taking that internally, though I have never tried it."

GOLDENSEAL EXTRACT

[YEA] 08/04/2006: Kathy from Carrollton, TX writes: "I had toe nail fungus on one corner of one big toe for a few years. Over-the-counter products didn't work. I read that GOLDENSEAL EXTRACT worked, so I tried that. Used an eye dropper and also gently worked some under the nail with a metal nail file. It tended to stain the nail yellow, but it worked. I sometimes used tea tree oil too. And I'm thinking I may have tried hydrogen peroxide or vicks - can't remember right now. I think trying various of these home remedies helps. I also read that PAU D'ARC extract worked too, but I never bought it, since I got rid of the fungus without needing to try something else. Also, made sure the nail was dry before putting on socks and shoes."

HENNA

[YEA] 08/31/2011: Shelby from Evansville, In writes: "Henna is anti-fungal, thought I'd throw that out there.
I usually use it to dye my hair, but I've been reading up on it, and I'm going to try it on a persistent fungus near my eye. I usually just mix it with hot water and let it sit for an hour, then apply it wherever. Henna can smell pretty strong, but feels absolutely wonderful on your skin.
It has to sit and absorb for a few hours, so don't do it if you're in a hurry, and it can be a bit messy. Now I just need to figure out where to get those tiny little paint brushes to paint it on exactly."

HONEY

[YEA] 01/07/2009: Pineshi from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada writes: "New Topic - For Toe Nail Fungus
I used honey to get rid of my toenail fungus that I had for two years. I tried Vicks, ACV and water washes and one day, I used unpasteurized honey just to be different. I had read that honey is antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial. My fungus was disappearing right away when I used honey. What I did was wash my feet every day with ACV water wash, hot and applied honey to toes and gauzed up with tape to keep covered for over time to keep from reinfecting self with shoes and socks. The skin and nail tissue was coming off in swathes and eventually the fungus has gone. I keep the wash and gauze for another few months until the nail is all grown in new again. I plan on microwaving the shoes to kill any fungus that might be alive there.
Unpasteurized honey has worked for me. "

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

[YEA] 03/20/2009: Bruno from Houston, Texas, USA writes: "I have tried several remedies that would work for short periods of time and then, they didn't seem to be as effective. I didn't just do it for a day or two, but for a week or more at a time. Someone told me about [food grade hydrogen peroxide]. I read all about it and thought that it would not be wise to use it but they insisted that it would work and fast. I didn't want to go through another couple of months of testing, so I gave it a try. You only put it on the nail with a Q-tip - don't let it touch the skin. It dries in a minute and reapply. I did this every day, twice a day, and within 3 days it was greatly improving. I dug the gunk out from under the dead part of the nail and the new nail is growing back beautifully. The old nail is still on but as it grows out I'm cutting the gross part off. I'll bet that within a 2 week period of time, the nail will be completely new and the fungus completely gone. It's cheap and fast."

[YEA] 02/02/2009: Tom Winegar from Hakalau, HI writes: "hydrogen peroxide for toenail fungus -YEA
i tried Lamisil but it was too expensive.
i tried Vinegar, and it made the skin on my feet feel great (baby smooth), so no more foot fungus - but it didnt help my toenails.
I tried Vapor Rub but it was stinky and sticky and didnt work well, but maybe helped a bit.
Then i tried Hyrogen Peroxide. It worked! I went on daily foot baths with Hyrogen Peroxide and I am winning the fungus battle. I was diluting too much. Now I use straight 3% and soak as long as I can.
There is no increasing infection, there is only spreading PINK nail health. My 'good' nails look great. My bad nails are improving slowly.
I highly recommend Hydrogen Peroxide for toenail fungus.
I was so happy to find something that worked, the doctors had no good solution.
I want to have pink toenails by the time I am 50!"

[YEA] 09/04/2007: Jesse from Granite City, IL writes: "After reading many of the suggestions available on this and other sites I added some of my own thoughts to the process and formulated my own treatment method.
The major problem with toenail fungus is that once you get it it is hard to get at it because the nail itself protects the fungus. So I took a dremel tool with a fine grit sandpaper bit and ground the toenail completely away. This is relatively painless as long as you do not hold the sandpaper in one spot for too long as it will generate heat and burn you (not severely but painfully).
After sanding away the entire toenail surface the nailbed is almost completely exposed. Since then I have been treating it with peroxide and after about 5 treatments (just once or twice a day) the peroxide no longer bubbles when applied indicating that the infection is gone. I have let it grow out a little and ground it down again a couple of times for good measure but when the nail grows out it looks healthy and normal. I will have to see what happens when the nail is completely replaced but so far it is working! Just be careful and use your head when you sand off the nail so you don't hurt yourself."
Replies11/21/2008: Richard from Santa Ana, California replies: "WARNING! I tried using the Dremel tool on my thick odd looking toe nail (didn't realize it was a fungus problem). In doing so I released the fungus in a cloud of dust while grinding away at the toe nail. Within a week I had the problem in every toe and in every finger nail! It's now been three years of trying all kinds of remedies without much success. I have learned that this is extremely contagious. It will jump from one finger/toe to another quickly. Do not use the same clippers, file, etc on more that one nail. Thanks for this site. I plan to try several new remedies that I have found here."

[YEA] 08/25/2007: Ron from San Jose, ca writes: "There may be two prevalent forms of nail fungus so I am qualifying my comment. Nail fungus that causes delamination starting along the edge with the nail weakening substantially may be cured with Hydrogen peroxide. I needed to pry up the nail at each treatment being careful to pry up only the discolored portion. The nail began to regrow from the root. It looks good. I noticed some foaming with the initial treatments and the color was bleached a little. The healthy growth is quite clear."

[YEA] 02/27/2007: Towanda from Philadelphia, PA writes: "My toenails were turning brown and was very dry to the point that the nail was lifting and chipping all over. It was disgusting. The doctor put me on Lamisil which had to be taken for up to two years and even then, you weren't guaranteed results. I stopped taking the Lamisil after about 6 months because I saw no results, and it could have possibly damaged my liver. I decided to try Peroxide. For the past month, after showering, I pour HP on my toes and let it dry. I then put Tea Tree Oil on my toenails. My nails are absolutely beautiful now. The brown is practically gone, the nail itself is healthy and smooth."

[YEA] Daisy from Elk Grove Vlg. IL writes: "My BIG toes are victims of injuries from "new" shopping carts 2 summers ago. I was wearing sandals both times. Our visiting podiatrist said that due these injuries I may have a nail fungus. But, my nails are NOT yellow. They were only bruised and the "mother cells"/half-moon seem to be helping them to grow to the "free edge." The podiatrist removed the loose nails and now the left toe "new nail" has nearly reached the "free edge." The right toe was re-injured accidentally and only has grown 1/2 way to the "free edge." My Dr. said the remedy he had in mind would be unaffordable for me. I have resorted to "peroxide" treatments and my toenails look like they are healing.
Peroxide seems to help the "mother cells" grow a new nail. I apply it once every day with a cotton ball saturated with the peroxide. Naturally it dries it out, but I do see some growth on the nail. Time will tell and I will keep in touch with the results.
I don't know if it because I have a 9 1/2 shoe size that my wonderful grand kids keep stepping/jumping on the "trying to heal" big toes of mine ..........or what. But, it certainly slows it down.
Also, my primary Dr. didn't know how to cure a "root type" ....which could be a cyst on a node on my ring finger. I used a prescribed ointment called HYDROCORTISONE CREAM USP 2.5% strength. The sac became irritated again. I use this "lightly" as directed about 3 times per day with the results that it has cured the irritation although I can still see the dried up tiny sac. The cream I use is comparable to the "off the shelf" hydrocortisone cream USP but, it has a stronger effect on the affected area.
Hope this feedback helps and you can pass it on. These are only my ways of curing and rather experimental."

[YEA] 03/01/2008: Don from Lakeland, FL writes: "I shoved a wood splinter under my finger nail and ended up with a fungus under the nail. After finding this web site, I started the peroxide/white vinegar/ tea oil treatment. I cut the old finger nail way nearly down to the cuticle; soaked my finger in hydrogen peroxide, then white vinegar and then applied tea tree oil/vaseline (50-50%). I did this for about 3 months and then went to just soaking with white vinegar morning and evening. This worked and the finger nail is well and nearly grown out completely and looks great. It takes time for this cure to work, but it sure does work!!"

INFARED LED INSTRUMENTS
12/26/2011: Muriel from Sydney, Australia writes: "My son manufactures infared LED instruments one of which I plugged in and directed it on to my thumb nail fungus, which has a hole in the nail. I used it today for the first time, three sessions of a few minutes at a time. There was a stirring sensation under the nail and the throbbing pain and itch on the skin side of the cuticle got much ease.
Is there any chance I am doing more damage than I appreciate?
Or any good?
Thanks."

[YEA] 05/12/2009: Mel from Orlando, FL writes: "I cured (and am still curing) toe and finger nail fugus using decolorized (white/clear) iodine. In combination with simply eating a banana and active yogurt (yogurt that promotes digestive health), I apply the ioding every day to my affected big toe nails, left thumbnail and right ring fingernail. I acquired nail fungus in my left big toe a year ago from a bad ingrown nail. I had a partial nail avulsion to remedy the ingrown nail and then later developed a fungus when the cauterizing had healed. I couldn't afford prescriptions at the time so I started using home remedies such as vinegar gel, over the counter topical lacquers, vapo rub and mouthwash. Everything under the sun. Then I saw this website about 6 months ago. Until I read about decolorized iodine, the fungus in that left big toe had only stabilized using other remedies. Which was good-but I wanted it gone! During that time of trying everything else, it spread to my right big toe and then my left thumbnail. This was all probably because I was not careful in cleaning in treating and spread it due to my own carelessness. Anyhow, I lost those other two nails then it started in my right ring finger. I was determined at that point to find my cure. I started using the iodine on my right ring finger and it stopped the fungus dead in it's tracks! My nail has since grown half in and healthy and is still going. As for where the fungus first started, in my left big toe-that's almost completely grown in and healthy! My right big toe and left thumbnail are well on there way, but taking a bit longer to grow in. Either way, iodine (2-3 drops) 1 or twice a day, a banana and a live active yogurt overy day have been my cure. Promoting digestive health, providing potatssium to help nails grow quicker and healthier and iodine to kill the fungus topically ahve been my miracle workers. The only down side to iodine is that it can be somewhat drying so I suggest using cuticle oil in between treatments. Do not use peroxide in combination with decolorized iodine. It will turn your skin orange! I only used alcohol to clean the affected areas before applying iodine and to sterilize the instruments I am using as well. What really sucks abou this whole thing, is I developed dyshidrosis as a secondary skin disorder from the fungus. That's a whole other story, but dishydrosis is like eczema in a way and it will resolve on it's own once the fungus is completely out of my nails and body."
