Boiled Milk

YEA

[YEA]  12/19/2008: Carole from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia: "This quick, safe and easy "cure" for diarrhea is ideal for adults, children and even babies. It is a remedy passed down through generations and never fails. I've used it myself, for my son, my husband and just about everyone I've ever known has found relief. What is it? Boiled milk. Simply measure out a cup of regular milk on the stove (not in the microwave) and bring just to a boil. Allow to cool and remove the skin off the top. You can drink it while it's still a bit warm. Ideally you would use 2% milk or even homo (skim milk might be too 'thin'). If you have diarrhea with gas, nausea and/or lots of gut noises, add a few pinches of ginger powder to the milk while heating it. For babies, they should be at an age where they can drink cow's milk. A cup of boiled milk should be enough for anyone at any age and you can drink as much as you want. Why the milk works only when boiled is a mystery to me - but it's easy enough for anyone to try and tastes good too. Results should be within an hour or less."

[YEA]  06/27/2006: Nicole from Jacksonville Florida: "My mom told me to try bread pudding for my daughter who was 5 at the time for diarrhea. I had no idea how to make so I just winged it. My mom told me the milk had to be scorched so I boiled enough milk to cover the bottom of the pot until it seemed to be over cooked and cubed a piece or two of bread, crust and all, put some cinnamon and brown sugar in, mixed it until it was thick and gooey and not only did she love it, her diarrhea was gone. Even my mom was shocked when I told her it worked. Any time my daughter has any signs of diarrhea, I make it for her and it's worked every time. I hope this helps!"

C. Diff Diagnosis

03/08/2009: C.S.M from Vero Beach, FL: "Another thing--

C diff colonizes in the bowel and should not be treated unless she is having symptoms (abdominal symptoms, fever or diarrhea).

C. diff is a bacteria--it couldn't hurt to use turmeric per the advice here on Earth Clinic.

According to The Peoples Pharmacy --
http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/archives/herb_home_remedy_qa/coconut_saves_patients_life.php

"Shredded Coconut and coconut macaroons can be lifesaving for relief of diarrhea from several conditions. The response can be immediate or can take several weeks"

From the same source--consider adding pineapple for inflammatory properties.

In my experience, C diff can cause lactose intolerance at least for a while after the infection. Try a lactose free diet.

Earth Clinic-- Would you please add my response to any diarrhea treatment forums you have? C diff should be suspected in any case of diarrhea now (because of the use of antibiotics in man and animals) and, according to MSNBC, a superstrain of C diff may be in 40% of grocery store meats.

Thank you. And thanks for offering this wonderful resource for people! CSM"

Calcium

[YEA]  11/24/2010: Janet from Cincinnati, Ohio: "I started getting diarrhea during menopause. It would only be after lunch but it happened nearly everyday for a couple of years. I tried eliminating dairy, wheat, fructose, splenda and anything else I thought might be the problem but nothing changed. I tried every home remedy too. Finally I came across a book that said calcium stops chronic diarrhea. I had already been taking calcium but apparently if your calcium has a high dose of magnesium in it, it will only make the problem worse.

When I started taking pills with 600mg of calcium and only 50mg of magnesium it was an answer to my prayers. After the first full day of taking this I have not been bothered with this ailment since. I just make sure that I have one tablet with breakfast and one with lunch and that seems to be sufficient for my situation. I know you're not allowed to say brand names but to make it easy for people what I took was Caltrate 600-D Plus."

[YEA]  10/05/2006: Shannon from Kansas City, MO: "I have suffered from chronic diarrhea for sixteen years due to having Crohn's disease. I read on your site about using cayenne pepper for this. I went to GNC and bought cayenne pepper capsules and it is working great. I am concerned though that this may cause ulcers? Also, I have a colonoscopy scheduled soon and the bottle says to stop taking two weeks before surgery. I am wondering if that would apply to my procedure as well. I also wonder why I should stop taking it before surgery."

Cinnamon Treatment for Diarrhea

Cinnamon tea can quickly cure a case of diarrhea. Break up a couple of cinnamon sticks in a mug and pour boiling water over it, then drink. As an alternative, you can also add a teaspoon of powdered cinnamon to a piece of toast.

[YEA]  06/01/2008: Jeffrey from Little Rock, Arkansas: "I have been experiencing very rough diarrhea the past week, and haven't been able to sleep in four days because I was kept away from my bed. I saw the remedy of cinnamon and made my own meal, simple toast with cinnamon sugar on top, and immediately my internal system calmed down. It's a very easy process that has helped me get back into a routine life."

He was throwing up and using the bathroom around every 5-10 minutes. It was to the point where he had nothing left to expell but water and bile. I finally convinced him to drink a tea mix I made. I used- 1 cinnamon stick, broken up with a scissor a big pinch of ground ginger pinch of ground mustard a pinch of ground cloves (or 2 whole) I let it steep from boiling to drinkable temperature. He started getting better almost instantaneously. It stopped not only the diarrhea, but also the throwing up and the incredible pain. I never saw anything work so fast!"

Clay

[YEA]  12/01/2008: Kjell from Los Angeles, CA: "Diarrhea Remedies: Use of calcium montmorillonite clay, especially with silver nitrate can be a very good way to resolve the bacteria, and bowel irritation and help absorb extra fluids to form a more consistent stool. Use a premium, food-grade product that is made in the USA."

[YEA]  10/19/2009: Siafulinux from Savannah, Georgia replies: "Just wanted to agree with using clay for diarrhea. After getting a severe case of gastroenteritis one year that kept me on a couch for a week, I vowed never to get it again. After doing some research clay, activated charcoal and olive leaf extract became my line of defense.

I always keep Bentonite Clay on hand, along with some pills containing a mix of clay and charcoal from our local health food store."
[YEA]  10/19/2009: Robert Henry from Ten Mile, Tn Usa replies: "I agree, and have found that a once a day shake containing 2 teaspoons of Psyllium, 1 teaspoon of flax meal, 1/2 teaspoon of Bentonite Clay,1 teaspoon of Inulin and 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper is enough fiber to keep my stool firm and my bowels regular. Two things we need to take care of is our bowels and our liver. Those are priority # 1.

The inulin feeds your good bowel flora. The cayenne make it all work more better. The clay is an electrolyte which cause it all to flock as it passes through, giving you bulk. It you are a wine maker, you know this is the way you clarify your wine.

I am also in the process of making a green walnut tincture and a poke berry tincture here in East Tn. This is my first attempt at this chore. Naturally, I'm using white lightening from a moonshine friend of mine. That's the way we are here in the ridges. Just glad the auto was invented before my time least I would have had to marry a cousin up the hollar."
12/24/2010: Siafulinux from Savannah, Georgia, Usa replies: "Just wanted to give a quick update to using clay for diarrhea. I am still using it, but found a simple way of drinking clay in it's powdered form as apposed to using the pills. I mix a half a cup to a full cup of milk, a half a teaspoon of blackstrap molasses, two or three level teaspoons of sugar (just to sweeten) and 3 or 4 teaspoons of clay or more. I put all this into one of those metallic "water bottles" and shake! Normally clay sticks a lot and is hard to get mixed well; you end up with clumps that's not a lot of fun. Doing it the way above mixes it evenly and it's just like drinking a milk shake; a dark, cloudy, evil looking milk shake, but a milk shake none the less. The taste is pretty good too. Works well for me! :-)"
