After "googling" diarrhea remedies, I found the only remedy I had the ingredient(s) for; ACV. Now my stomach was a rollercoaster and as soon as I downed the 2Tbsp of ACV (which i think is DISGUSTING BTW)....i feel purrrrrrdy fine and dandy"

[YEA]  10/06/2007: Stella from Chelmsford, Essex, England UK writes: "I had explosive diarrhoea for a period of 4 weeks travelling in China from Beijing to Xian. No chemicals did anything but treat the symptoms. Upon returning home and taking an anti-biotic the diarrhoe went from explosive to less explosive. Test came back a "virus". I was getting really down by this and starting trawling th intenet. I came upon this site and through I'd try the cider vinegar - what did I have to lose. After my first dose I felt a difference right away. My stomach felt "different". I continued with the cider vinegar and 3 months later, I am completely cured. It didn't happen overnight for me as I had 4 weeks in China to recover from. But I am so grateful for finding this site. I'm also thankful for all the comments that persuaded me to give it a try. Thanks to all those who posted comments as you certainly gave me the confidence to give it a go - your comments cured me!"

[YEA]  09/05/2007: Yehuda from Jerusalem, Israel writes: "After suffering from violent diarrhea for 18 days and losing almost 6 pounds that I did not need to lose, I looked here and saw the advice to use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV). I grabbed the bottle of regular grocery store ACV and took 2 Tablespoons with a lttle juice. It was only mildly unpleasant but the results were almost immediate. The diarrhea stoped immediately and the naseau did, too. After spending most of the last 18 days in the bathroom, I was pleased to not have a bowel movement the lest of the day, slept like a baby at night, and then actually had an appetite this motrning. After a gentle breakfast, I was happy to have a small and regular bowel movement. i decided to have another 2 tablespoons this afternoon. if anythign chages, i will post, otherwise know that this has been an IMMEDIATE life saver. I am an avid mountain biker who usually rides 2 hours 5 or 6 days a week. After 18 days of forced rest, I cannot wait to get back out. Thanks."

[YEA]  03/21/2007: Anne from Manassas, VA writes: "Apple cider vinegar cured my diarrhea caused by milk and other foods. I switched to Lactose Free Milk while taking ACV and eventually the diarrhea was gone. I continued to take ACV 3x/day (2 tsp in 8 oz of water before each meal) for 2 months when I decided to see if drinking regular skim milk (as I used to) would cause the diarrhea again. To my surprise, I no longer get diarrhea to any foods, not even to milk. So thank you God for ACV. Another good effect I had as a result of taking ACV is the disappearance of a couple of moles."

I literally went to the bathroom every 30 min or so. I was searching online for cures for diarrhea and I found this website. After reading all the comments, to make sure no one experienced anything bad, I told my mom to go buy me Apple Cider Vinegar. I diluted 3 teaspoons of ACV into a cup of water and I drank it. After 10-20 min, my stomach hurt less and it's been 2 hours since I haven't had any bowel movements. Also, I think what helped was the fact that I ate rice and I drank peppermint tea with no sugar. But ACV definitely played the biggest part."

[YEA]  01/02/2007: Chaka from Gardena, CA writes: "I can't believe it! I had diarrhea for 5 days!!! I had no nausea, no fever and no signs of dehydration, so I didn't want to go to a doctor and go through expensive and time consuming work ups for them to tell me they couldn't find the cause. So decided to try whatever I could at home. Repeated doses of Immodium and Pepto Bismol, but nothing worked. Until I read this page and tried the Apple Cider Vinegar. Amazing! Immediately, the cramping stopped and after 3 doses, I was cured the same day!!! The suggestion to mix with Apple Juice was a good one. It's pretty yucky with just water, but at that point, I was willing to try anything! Can't believe something I've had in my cupboard all along was the answer! Thank you!"

[YEA]  12/31/2008: Anonymous from Milo, Maine, USA replies: "I too had a bad case for 4 days with no other symptoms - well, other than tremendous gas. It would build in my belly until it was painful to touch and then when it was released you would think you were standing in a wind tunnel. I tried Pepto and Immodium to no avail. I talked to my doctor after office hours and he told me the only thing they would do at the ER is put me on an IV for dehydration. I trusted in google, found the site, and tried ACV. Unlike most other accounts, I didn't find immediate relief. My stomach was still playing the part of a cement mixer churning out gas but once that passed an hour or two later, I have been relatively symptom free. 2 Tbsp in some water seems to have trumped the marvels of modern medicine."

[YEA]  02/11/2006: Louise from Ocala,Fl. writes: "I had diarrhea ( including blood ) almost constantly for 8 1/2 weeks after a " holiday " party at work. I received the advice of 6 MD's, 1 nurse practitioner,& several public health nurses. I had lab tests done. Besides all that , I am a registered nurse. No one knew what was wrong with me ( and yet they wanted to do even more expensive and invasive tests ). I could eat only certain things. When I would take prescription medication - I had to keep taking it. Over the counter medication stopped the diarrhea but left me in constant pain and drowsiness. This week I was blessed to remember something I heard a long time ago about apple cider vinegar. So I tried a few mouthfuls. I had already had about 6 bowel movements that day. I didn't have any more problems that day ( to my surprise ) even though I had eaten alot. My only problem now is to figure out what should I eat first...a pizza ?, chocolate malt ?, grilled cheese with tomato ? I am very grateful to the Almighty for creating such a thing as apple cider vinegar."

[YEA]  "I was on my fourth day of extreme diarrhea and was becoming concerned because of no relief. I had recently completed taking antibiotics for a tooth infection and had started taking a probiotic with a high concentration of L-acidophilus. I'm sure that was helping. But when I started taking raw, unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar with the "mother" I saw immediate results. I also stopped eating any diary products such as milk, eggs, cheese, and also sugar. I always rejoice when I don't have to go to the doctor!"

[YEA]  02/09/2010: Chris from Romeo, Michigan writes: "My mom, 82, has bouts of diarrhea every month or so. This last for hours and hours and then slowly it subsides and next day she is okay. I remembered reading about taking ACV for this. I asked her if she would try it and she said yes. I mixed 2 tbsp of ACV (with the mother), and 1/4 tsp of baking soda (without aluminum from health food store) and about 8oz of water, and she drank it. She said immediately that she felt better. I checked on her about 15 minutes later and she said she was 100% better! I'm just elated! And so is she of course. Thank you EARTHCLINIC and TED! And thanks to all who posted their experiences about ACV and diarrhea."

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, COCONUT OIL

[YEA]  08/13/2011: Jennifer from Sunrise, Fl, Usa writes: "I went to Morocco this summer and was not as careful as I should have been about avoiding contact with the water. By the end of the trip, I had a classic case of traveler's diarrhea (caused by the presence of E. Coli in the water). My stomach started to bother me and a few days after I left Morocco, I was experiencing excruciating cramping, had liquid bowel movements about 11-12 times per day, had a burning/queasy feeling in my stomach, had chills, could not eat, and was generally miserable. Every anti-diarrhea medication that I tried or was prescribed (I tried 5) had absolutely NO effect on me. It wasn't too long before my fiance's parents knew ALL about my bowel problems (to my embarassment), so my fiance's mom gave me apple baby food which seemed to help a little. I suffered for another 3 days, and on the final day I had to travel home for over 24 hours, including a 11-hour flight, and with my condition it seemed like it was going to be a disaster.

the trip I looked up remedies on EC and bought some ACV (couldn't buy the kind with the mother, because I was not in the US at the time). I took the ACV about 3 times that day and the cramping and nausea disappeared and the frequency of my bowel movements greatly decreased. When I got back to the US I was able to take some ACV with the mother, took some coconut oil in chai (which contains cinnamon), ate some applesauce with cinnamon, and in one day my problem was completely GONE, finally putting an end to my 10 days of suffering. Thank you EC!!!! And readers, PLEASE do not drink the water in developing countries ;)

N.B.: Coconut oil might have been effective in my case because my diarrhea was caused by a bacterial/parasitic infection, but coconut oil generally has a laxative effect on most people, so use with caution!"

[YEA]  01/12/2009: Chris from Dighton, MA writes: "Terrible diarreha as of late. Doctor thinks it is a form of colitis. It got so bad I couldn't leave the house. Took Apple cider vinegar 2 teaspoons in water 2x a day. Then Tumeric 1 teaspoon in water. 2x a day. pow! It stopped. Then went on to make sure. Kefir fortified with 10 billion acidophilis 2x a day. No more rumbling and colon sensitivity has subsided. Then went on to a pinch of allspice in warm water before bedtime. I went after this think with both barrels. Have not been bothered since. I think that it was a yeast infection in the intestines. They can not screen for a yeast infection unless it has gotten into the blood stream. At which time you are in serious trouble.

Manifested:
ringing in ears
diarreha
sensitivity in colon
outbreaks of eczema
skin rashed that came and went.
Itching in the ears. A nagging cough.

Cough is still there, it has only been 2 days now, but it is subsiding. Oh yes, outbreaks of atheletes foot, from time to time."

I have not been bothered since. I do not have to take these any more and have not after about 6 weeks."

Over the years we have used this method for this purpose. Start out by using about 1/3rd of the inner skin and increase if needed .. It really works .It has a slightly stringent taste, which can be masked by mixing it with peanut butter or jam."

[YEA]  12/30/2009: Kathleen from Chicago, Illinois writes: "Briefly, I wanted to share with you a family remedy for diahrea. As an infant, my nephew had a severe case and mentioned it in front of my Irish immigrant grandmother. She suggested barley water. My sister, of course, ignored her and got a prescription which didn't work. She then tried barley water, and it worked like a charm. Barley water is simply boiling barley (you can buy it dried at the grocery store) and using the water. Do let it cool off a bit before you give to baby or anyone else for that matter!"

[NAY]  10/17/2006: Steph from Jacksonville, FL writes: "I'm responding to the claim that black tea cures an upset stomach. Whenever I drink black tea, I always develop painful gas and bloating and sometimes diarreah. My grandmother said she has the same problem and that it may be caused by tannins in the tea. Maybe some people just aren't able to break down the chemicals? What does help me when i get a "gas attack" is to get on my knees and stick my butt in the air, focusing on relaxing my abdominal muscles. The posture is a bit ridiculous, but it does help expel the gas after a couple minutes. For an upset stomach, i make a tea of grated ginger, mint, chamomile, or a combination. to that i add organic milk and honey."

Raspberry or blackberry-leaf tea is also said to be effective, but should be avoided in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. You can make your own tea with leaves and fresh fruits. BLACKBERRY BRANDY

[YEA]  04/12/2008: Molly from Madison, USA writes: "For SERIOUS seemingly intractable diarrhea, take one shot glass of blackberry brandy. I learned this decades ago from a neighbor whose grandmother would but one-eighth TEASPOON, an infintesimal amount in the baby bottle for youngsters whose diarrhea hung on for many days.

The stuff is STRONG, it's an old folklore remedy which almost always works, for anybody, any age, any reason.

For long term loose stools with intermittent diarrhea, try a wheat-free gluten free diet for a month. Research this online, as wheat is hidden "everywhere," for instance there is apparently only one spice company which does NOT add wheat flour to its spices --- SO, you see, it's VERY easy to be exposed to wheat gluten in processed foods or eating in restaurants, no matter what one orders.

HIGH dose biotin can be "miraculous" for some folks -- get the FIVE-MILLIGRAM bottles at the health food store. I was amazed the first time that I swallowed 25-MILLIGRAMS of biotin, as that "expensive" bottle of this B-Vitamin was certainly cheaper than the many medical tests.

For a long term solution, massive supplementation with very large amounts of acidophilus has been successful."
