BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  05/03/2011: Cleoppa from Cleburne, Tx writes: "There are a lot of excellent remedies on this site that I use. However, to really halt a cold it has to be stopped early. I thought I had allergies, so I didn't catch my cold early. I tried everything: apple cider vinegar, Jean's famous tomato tea, cayenne pepper pills, colloidal silver... Maybe some more I'm forgetting. Nothing seemed to help and I was definitely sensing that this was a cold that wasn't going to go away for at least a few days.

So, I went back to my favorite site and saw Ted's cold remedy. I didn't follow the whole thing, but I tried a hydrogen peroxide bath. The first time, I read it wrong and ended up putting the equivalent of a cup of 35% hp (about 12 cups of 3% hp). I immediately felt better--could breathe better, wasn't snotting everywhere, etc.

I wasn't totally better, but that was definitely the start of getting better. Went to work the next day, took a few more hp baths. This is definitely my new remedy I'll be researching and trying out!"

[YEA]  09/24/2009: Anne from Chicago, Il writes: "H2O2 in ear for colds: I get sick almost every month, usually with a bad cold during, or right after, my period. I tried H2O2 in my ears right when I was getting that familiar tingle in the back of my throat and tired feeling I always get before a cold. I used about a half a capful of 3% hydrogen peroxide poured into my ears, one at a time, lying on my side and let it sit and fizz for about 10 minutes each before dumping it out. The itchy feeling started disappearing right away and the next day I wasn't sick as I was sure I would be. I normally get sick for a good week or two when I do, so I was really glad it worked!"

[YEA]  01/02/2009: Theresa from Auburn, Indiana writes: "Hydrogen Peroxide kept me from getting the cold/flu I felt coming on. The first time I tried using Hydrogen Peroxide in my both of my ears was when I was visiting my sister in Illinois, about 5 years ago. I had just arrived from the 5 hour drive and could feel that I was getting a cold or flu. My sister suggested placing a few (6 to 7) drops of hydrogen peroxide in my ear, letting it fizz, then let it drain and repeat the process in the other ear. I went to bed that evening after using the hydrogen peroxide and woke up feeling great! I never did get that cold... I've repeated this process each time I felt as though I was coming down with the cold or flu. It has worked 90% of the time. The key is to catch it early! The longer you wait to use the hydrogen peroxide once you have the first symptoms, the less likely it will work. I've shared this with others, but most are hesitant to try it. I haven't had any bad experiences with this method."

I started out with 2tsps in 16oz of water 3x/day and I got a yeast infection. I stopped for a few days until the infection went away then started up with 1tsp in 16 oz of water and sipped thru out the day. After a week I upped it to two 2tsps and I think that is my limit. Still got a cold tho.....boo to that."

Again the spinning started so I endured as long as I could. I ended up getting very dizzy and queasy and lost my dinner. It's now the next day and I'm still feeling horrible. I've had H2O2 put into my ears since being a small child, although generally for wax build-up, and never experienced dizziness or biliousness. I've also suffered vertigo from a middle ear infection and your symptoms mirror that problem."
12/29/2008: Kiti from San Diego, CA replies: "I did that one day and i had a violent dizzy spell it scared me so much but mainly it's the temperature of the peroxide. If you put anything in your ear that is room temperature it is still colder than the temperature in your ear so it causes the dizzy spell you need to warm up the bottle in warm-hot water filled sink before doing that."

[YEA]  06/09/2007: Regina from Seoul, South Korea writes: "I really can't believe this. But I'm an insulin dependent diabetic so my immune system is compromised and I get more colds. I felt a cold coming on but I have two finals next week and a thesis due the week after. In addition, I'm working and have my job duties to attend to too. Basically, I CAN NOT get sick. I found a great apple cider vinegar cure when I got a bad bout of food poisoning from this site and decided to see if there was anything on how to prevent that developing cold in its tracks. Well, I found the hydrogen peroxide remedy. It sounded completely crazy, but I figured what the hell - why not try it? It's cheap and at least my ears would be cleaner ;-) I tried it. I bought some peroxide on the way to the library. I set my cell phone timer for 10 minutes, had some tissue handy, tilted my head to the side, poured the peroxide in (I bought a small bottle with that has a nozzle so it was easy) and let the peroxide go to work. I switched ears and then did it again on both sides for about 5 to 10 minutes for each ear. It worked! That itchy throat I had is gone. That feeling that I was going to wake up sick tomorrow is gone. I truly can't believe it but I'll be doing this again at the first sign of a cold. This is great!"

[YEA]  05/27/2007: Toomba from Kuching , Malaysia writes: "Source: http://www.purestcolloids.com/no-cold.htm Cure for the common cold?

Just about everyone gets a common cold from time to time, though some folks never seem to get a cold. I used to be someone who got at least one cold every winter, sometime two or three throughout the winter and spring months.

Colds are now part of the past for me because I have learned how to become one who seems to never get a cold. What is described below is a very simple method that enables you to never get a cold again (NGACA). This was described to me many years ago by a physician who used it successfully for decades with his patients.

While this method is simplicity itself, it is very important to be alert to the signals your body is constantly sending you. If you pay attention to those signals it becomes clear that there are certain reliable and repeatable signals your body produces to signal the onset of a cold.

For most people the signal is a slight sore throat, scratchy throat causing a cough, runny nose or congested sinuses. These signals which will vary from one individual to another but will generally be recognized as the cold onset signal which precedes the actual cold by usually one day or so.

The onset signal is caused by the body's immune system attempting to counteract the virus and producing an inflammatory response.

The NGACA method is applied on the day the onset signal is recognized or as early as possible once the onset signal is recognized. If you wait until the cold sets in the following day, it will have to run its course and which usually lasts seven to ten days.

Here is what to do when you get the cold onset signal.

1. Get a bottle of hydrogen peroxide (3%) from your local pharmacy.

2. Tilt your head to one side and fill one ear canal with hydrogen peroxide using an eye dropper. Fill the ear canal completely. This assumes you do not have a ruptured ear drum!

3. Within one to two minutes you will notice bubbling in the ear. This indicates that the peroxide has found something that should not be there. Let the peroxide stay in the ear until it stops bubbling. If the bubbling has not stopped after five minutes, drain out the peroxide and refill the ear with fresh peroxide. When the bubbling has stopped, drain out the ear.

4. Repeat the procedure on the other ear.

That's all there is to it! It is important to perform this procedure at the earliest signal of cold onset. If this procedure is done in a timely fashion, the symptoms that signaled the cold onset will subside within a few hours and you will not come down with a cold.

As an added bonus, the hydrogen peroxide dissolves ear wax and will leave your ears free of wax and free of disease causing pathogens.

Why does this work? This method works because the rhinovirus which causes colds enters the body through the ear canals and the hydrogen peroxide kills the virus before your body gets infected.

In 1928 Richard Simmons, M.D. hypothesized that colds and flu virus enter through the ear canal. His findings were dismissed by the medical community. According to Dr. Simmons, contrary to what you may think or have been taught about how you catch the flu or the cold there is only one way that you can catch the two, and that's via the ear canal not through the eyes or nose or mouth as most have believed.

In 1938 German researchers had great success using hydrogen peroxide in dealing with colds and the flu. Their data has been ignored for over 60 years."

Replies
08/30/2009: Kari from Phoenix, Az replies: "Actually, organisms do enter through the ear canal, but also through the eyes, nose, and mouth. Any orifice in the body is capable of transmission. That's why it is best not to touch anything on your face without first washing your hands."

[YEA]  03/22/2007: Jens from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada writes: "We mix H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) down to 1%. At the first sign of a cold we put an eye dropper full into each ear, one at a time. Do one ear first while lying down so the solution does not run out. After about 10 min turn over and do the other ear for another 10 min. This should nip the bug before it starts. This is safe for children as well. Be careful with the strength. You will hear bubbling which is the H2O2 working."

Let this stuff stay in your ears for about 10 - 15 minutes and it really has a good effect at killing the ear ache, sore throat and the sniffles. [YEA]  03/07/2007: Michael from Seattle, Washington writes: "I've found 3 percent hydrogen peroxide surprisingly effective in "curing" a cold or flu. I fill an eyedropper with it, like down on my side, and pour it into my ears, one at a time. When I have an infection it will bubble or tickle. (Sometimes it tickles intensely... the first time I used it, I couldn't believe how much it tickled!) I leave it in for five minutes, then drain it out. I've been surprised at how effective it is in speeding my recovery, or even nipping a cold or flu bug in the bud. Oddly, putting it in my ears also helps to clear my sinuses. I also use it as a gargle when I have a cough."

[YEA]  11/09/2006: Cass from Dover, DE writes: "A nurse friend told me this cure 3 or 4 years ago. I use it to fight off colds and sore throats. Your ears, nose and throat are connected- I believe it's through the eustation tube. I keep 3% peroxide in a bottle with an eye dropper so that I can do this myself. Lie on your side. Have a washcloth handy for any mop ups you may need and for when you empty your ear. Fill eye dropper with peroxide. Put in your ear. Lie on your side for 15-20 minutes. Do deep breathing as long as possible so that the affects of the peroxide also reach your nose and throat. When the 15-20 minutes are up place the wash cloth over your ear and turn to the other side. Repeat in 2nd ear. I have found this remedy to be very helpful. It is helpful to me when doing this to use a timer because I either get lost in the book I'm reading or fall asleep."

[YEA]  07/08/2011: Kalki from Kerala, India replies: "I had put hydrogen peroxide in my daughter's ears for mild earache and at the end of 10 mts of fizzing in each ear, she could hear better and the ache was gone. Usually we have to go to the clinic to get them cleaned.

The bonus is that I did it too too and it cleared up my cold. (The first drop you put it in is a bit of a shock and the unfamilair tickly feeling when it fizzes takes a bit of getting used to. ) I had a stuffed nose and itchy throat which normally leads to a chest infection. I had mucus (greenish in the beginning and then clear later) coming down into my mouth from the nose area for three days afterwards. It was a totally new experience for me, feeling the back of my nose from the inside (I can't explain it better! ) and I was wondering what was happening. It was only after my daughter told me that H2O2 is used to cure colds also that it clicked.

So here's a fan of hydrogen peroxide - for earaches, wax and colds."

[YEA]  04/21/2007: Grant Greene from Lafayette, Colorado writes: "I have been using the following method to treat all colds for the past 15 years, and since first trying it, use nothing else to treat colds. I use the cap from the peroxide bottle and put 1/4 cap of peroxide the rest of the cap is filled with water dripped from the faucet. I put a finger over one nostril and sniff the mixture up the other nostril. I repeat this with the other nostril. One cap full (1/4 peroxide 3/4 water) usually will treat both nostrils. When the solution drain down the nostril passage to the throat I spit it out and blow my nose. Guess what? Instant relief then and there not ten minutes later but then and there. When you blow your nose you will be amazed at what come out. This is especially great for head colds, but also sore throat and stops coughing colds as well. I usually only have to do this twice at about 8 hour intervals. After that or by the next morning were talking, what cold? I have not tried using the inhaling through the mouth method since I have discovered that the cold always appears to be in the nostril passage. Even the sore throat symptom is in the nasal passage between the nose and throat and you will feel where it is when the mixture drains down the nostril passage. If you find that a 1/4 peroxide to 3/4 water too strong, i.e., stings too much, use slightly less peroxide and more water. I sniff rather than spray the mixture as I found that spraying does not atomize and coat the entire nostril passage as well as when the mixture is sniffed. Try it and you will also be amazed."
