Doctors aren't of great help and I feel a kind of pain over my left diaphragm and in my back. When I wake up in the morning, my tongue is coated with white thing ( Candida probably), and when I eat a food the white coat goes away and then comes back. I put oregano oil directly on my tongue and I saw in the mirror the white spot loosing its form ( Candida dying??). I started with hydrogen peroxide but sometimes I vomit. I don't know if there is a solution to this side effect. Also sometimes I do experience heart palpitations and I don't know if this is due to Candida or something else. I realized before that when I used to eat the jelly pudding, I felt that somethings is squeezing inside my esophagus and stomach. Could that be Candida or somethings else? It is from gas/bloating, and also having so much tension in the area over years. You may wish to go see a doctor or naturopath about the vomiting and palpitations. You may also want to do an endoscopy. Thanks for the tip about the oregano oil. Good luck"

I have all those symptoms and my doctor doesn't believe me for Candida. I have a coated tongue in the morning. I wonder if there is a test to see what is this white coating in the tongue?

09/27/2010: Brenda from Morganton, Ga replies: "I have read that a simple test for candida is as follows: First thing in the morning, before brushing teeth or drinking anything, spit into a cup of water. Allow it to sit a while. If the spittle remains floating on top of the water, you do NOT have candida. If it gets "stringy legs" going down into the water, you DO have candida. When I have had candida symptoms, this test has proven true. Also, I have read that if you have a white coated tongue, you have candida. Period."
09/28/2010: Lisa from Waynesboro, Virginia replies: "The candida diet is the most important thing you can do. (no sugar, yeast at all in any foods; no fruit or juices). I have been on the candida diet for 61 days now and have seen much improvement. I'm almost through all of the symptoms. Of great importance for me was undecylenic acid, caprylic acid and a good multi and probiotics. The undecylenic acid was the most critical element; detox can be tough at times, but use hot teas and epsom salt baths. You will feel better!"
11/19/2010: Michael from Ny, Not Selected replies: "Its true so no more SUGAR because it's the most important of the avoidance foods to limit in your diet as it directly increases the amount of Candida in your body when it is consumed. There is no way around this one, if you choose to continue to eat sugar on a regular basis you will continue to develop Candida in your body. This includes not just the obvious forms of sugar but also white flour and breads which convert to sugar in the body. Fruits unfortunately need to be removed too, however when you are finally healed from candida cures tips I strongly recommend you get back to eating fruits regularly again. As well as the YEAST because consuming more yeast in your diet when you suffer from Candida will directly encourage Candida growth. This is arguably due to the fact that some believe Candida is capable of assimilating other yeasts and using them to further develop Candida growth."

My eyesight is getting worse and my eyes are sensitive to light, I have this woozy feeling in my brain causing me to have vertigo, forgetfulness, and a limited vocabulary. For some reason I can't seem to remember the names of things. Like I'm trying to explain something and I completely blank out and can't find the word I'm looking for.. I've developed an allergy to dairy and I believe it has to do with it causing mucus. I had tingling feelings in my toes, I started getting yeast infections once a month (they have since stopped). Heart palpitations, feeling drunk, not coordinated, anxiety (never had it before), toe fungus, constipation.. I think there's more but I believe I'm forgetting a few symptoms (damn candida).. I went to my doctor and they found nothing, I went to the neurologist had my brain scanned and they found nothing, went to the ENT and same thing... NOTHING!

So I started doing my own research. I googled My brain feels woozy.. And I found some forums where people were talking about vitamin deficiencies.. So I started researching vitamin deficiencies... I found that I lacked magnesium, D and B-12. So I went to the store and bought them on my lunch break. Took them and OMG I felt a shift in my brain. Very weird. Everything seemed to look very clear. And I had more clarity to my thoughts. I have started doing many different things. I took dairy out of my diet. Eating way more fibrous vegetables, Lots more fruit (candida friendly). Started with Ted's Lime bicarbonate (not so sure its working). Taking Selenium, Probiotics, Oil of Oregano, magnesium, garlic and I just ordered Grapefruit Seed Extract."

You are absolutely right about brain fogs related to the deficiency. The main cause of B12 deficiency is a damaged intestinal mucosa. The damaged mucosa could be attributed to many thing but the parasites are the big problem. The parasite infection leads to Candida. And I read so many people who suffered from white tongue that their tongue became normal once the parasite was gone. So you should test for a parasite infection. Best regards, Jean"

01/16/2011: Aleena from Dallas, Tx replies: "You can't know the relief that I felt knowing that I found someone like myself. I don't know how long I've had candida, but seeing as how it can occur when hormones change, it could be that I've had it for 7 years. I was put on birth control when I was younger to regulate my hormones, but it seems to have caused more damage rather than having fixed anything.

My symptoms are as follows: I became constipated. And I don't mean occasionally, or having a few less BM, at my worst I had a single BM every 2 weeks. My memory started to falter. Being a person who has photographic memory, this was incredibly evident. My joints ached. I had been very athletic and suddenly I found myself moving slower and struggling to keep up with my fellow athlethes, where I had previously had been on varsity. My skin changed. I have olive skin, but over the years, my skin lightened, and rather than getting a nice tan when I was outside, I began to develope splotches. My eyesight, seemingly overnight, got worse and all of the sudden each eye doctor says that I must have pre-mature glaucoma because the pressure in my eyes is very high. I have a white coated tongue. At one point in time I fell incredibly ill and the symptoms that worried me most were the constant sulfuric burps.

Now what may be a little shocking to all of you, is that I'm just 20. I never had any say what we ate because we ate what my father could afford, but I think that may be one of the main contributors. I want to get rid of whatever it is I have. I hate feeling this way, and if I knew that I had had some sort of infestation I would have done whatever means necessary to cure it. I love this website and I will begin treatment immediately, however I have a concern. I have receieved the wonderful news that I'm pregnant with my first child. What treatments can I do while I'm pregnant? Please, help from anyone would be great and very much appreciated."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  01/19/2011: Cured from Houston, Tx replies: "Hi, I don't normally post to bulletin boards but I've cured my condition and want to share what I did. The symptoms I had were dry mouth with a rough surface, white and yellow coating, little red spots, and a deep split in the middle. Also tiredness and brain fog. Worst of all constant bad breath. I had this for years and would brush often and chew gum but it didn't help.

First, here are the things that didn't work when I tried them individually: drinking lots of water, stopped caffeine, stopped social smoking, stopped social alcohol drinking, gargling with mouthwashes(hydrogen peroxide made it worse), consuming apple cider vinegar, taking herbs(fang feng tong shen wan), eating more veggies, brushing w/baking soda, selecting food/drinks based on pH, stopped using steroid nasal spray.

In the end, I feel one key practice did it: use tongue scraper w/hard edge(but not too hard) then mix few drops of oil of oregano and grape seed extract in 1 cup hot water. Swirl mouthful for 30 sec and swallow. It will be bitter but repeat as often as you can, all day if possible. I saw results after 1 week and by 2nd week my tongue was red again and moist and slippery. It was a feeling I had almost forgotten. The split is not gone but getting smaller all the time.

Here are some additional things that I did in conjunction that may or may not have helped: reduced usage of steroid nasal spray (instead rinsed nose with water and little sea salt daily), stopped all caffeine and soda(even diet), drank only hot or warm water, took supplements milk thistle, coconut oil, multivitamin, and royal jelly.

I'm so much happier now! Thanks to everyone who posted on this problem and good luck!"

However, just couldn't get rid of this recurring yeast infections. After further research I kept on hearing about capryllic acid, and what a powerful anti-fungal it is. What I didn't know is that you have to slowly build up the quantity (the lady in the store suggested 3 in the morning, and 3 in the afternoon). Long story short, 7 days later I had a Herxheimer reaction, also known as a die-off reaction. Mine was pretty crazy though, very scary especially if you don't know what the heck is going on and have no one to talk to about. For about a week prior I noticed red, hot burning checks, especially after I came out of the shower. Then my cheeks started becoming really dry and started slightly peeling. As mentioned, 7 days later, I woke up with extremely itchy palms in my hand and feed. Within hours the itchiness spread throughout my entire body. Something was obviously in my blood stream. It was a weekend so I went to Urgent Care as I started noticing really huge hives showing up. I was told to take Benadryl, which somewhat helped. I broke out in hives and rashes for the next two days. On day 2 and 3 both my eyelids were swollen. The doctor simply called it allergic reaction and prescribed steroids. Somebody told me to go and get hydro colon therapy for 3 consecutive days. I had my second one today. Most of my rashes, hives and itchiness are almost gone. And my eyelids are almost back to normal. In retrospect I found a lot of online information how capryllic acid can cause a herxheimer reaction, which is why you need to slowly build up the potency over a couple weeks. I'm so glad I didn't take the steroids. Well, hopefully I rid my body of the candida by now :-)""

I fought candida, heart palpitations, fatigue, muscle symptoms, fibromyalgia, headaches, neck pain, foggy thinking, stomach problems, trouble swallowing, and so much more for a great number of years.

I believe in limiting carb intake and eating only complex carbs, along with fresh healthy vegetables and protein. I believe in exercise and stress reduction and prayer or meditation. But the thing that finally took away the remainder of my symptoms was to eliminate msg and free glutamates from my diet. Also aspartame! These are excitotoxins which do great damage to your body!!!

They said no, but they suggested I take caprylic acid, which is in coconut oil and helps cure yeast overgrowth. I purchased it to help cure my athlete's foot and stomach discomfort.

I purchased it and I took one 350MG tablet daily as per directions. It did not cure my athlete's foot like I wanted, but I felt less hungry, less tired, and my stomach felt better. I also lost weight without serious effort. I've been taking it for two months now.

Warning: I experienced two things while taking this: stomach discomfort and a slightly yeasty odor coming from my body for a week or two.

The yeasty smell rubbed off on my washcloth and towels. I discovered by accident that putting a capful of hydrogen peroxide (the regular kind from the pharmacy, not the food grade kind) in my bathwater stopped this. It stopped me from emitting the yeasty smell and from transferring it to my wash cloth and towels."

12/07/2008: LuAnn from Rapid City, SD replies: "My local Walmart carries organic virgin coconut oil 16 oz. I prefer this over expeller pressed coconut oil. It has a different tast. So cold process or virgin does taste better. I use it in my teas. I cook my eggs with it. I use it in my hair as a conditioner. I have even used it up my nose for the sinus issues candida cause. I put some each nostril and lay down with a warm compress on my eyes. If you were congested you will get up and blow your nose and it feels great.

I have friends who have exemia and most of them said it is gone in 3 days.
I just tried the collidioal silver tonight in a nazal spray bottle. What a wonder full relieve not only 2 hours later, the 4 day headache is gone. Still have pressure by no where like before. Thanks"

I started back on caprylic acid capsules last night and today I have die-off, so I know that it is working. I also take oregano oil capsules with it--the double whammy. As for colloidal silver, I saw a man who took that and his skin turned silver and it will NOT go back to it's regular color. Stay away from that stuff!"

Then I began experiencing numbness and tingling, first in my hands and feet, then my lips and tongue, then pretty much everywhere! Doctors had no answers for me and any "solution" they suggested would have been worse than my condition. One day I was in a health food store, and noticed that the symptoms for systemic candida were identical to what I had been experiencing. The book also said that caprylic acid killed yeast, so I bought some right away and the yeast infections stopped and the numbness and tingling went away gradually. However, I didn't take probiotics at first, and I did have some reoccurence of symptoms when I couldn't get caprylic acid, so I began taking an enteric-coated probiotic blend (which ensured that it maked it through the stomach acid to where it was needed in my lower tract). Caprylic acid has a rather nasty burp aftertaste (a little food to chase it down helps) so I much prefer the probiotics and have been symptom-free for many years now."

[YEA]  05/23/2011: Bobbie from Sydney, Australia writes: "I suffered from candidiasis after I had had 4 days of iv antibiotics (in hospital) for a bowel infection - and then, while my intestines were quite vulnerable (flora imbalance), I ate a mouldy pancake (unknowingly of course). Huge, itchy red welts spread over my body withins days. I even had white fungus growth in my ear canals (my ENT specialist showed me on his video screen). I tried most of the remedies on this site with some success (oregano oil, bicarb in drinking water, kefir and h2o2 etc). With each remedy that I tried, I got better but found it was true that I had to make sure I was trying new anti-fungals and alkalining remedies to keep on top of the infection (apparently, it mutates very quickly). It wasn't until I drank Chamomile tea that all my symptoms finally disappeared.

I had 3 cups of hot and v strong chamomile tea within a couple of hours (I used tea bags, although I imagine loose leaf would have been better). It gave me a big headache but I kept it up with at least 2 cups per day, for the next week.

I have been free of candidiasis for 2 years now and feel that the combination of exercise, healthy eating (alkalising foods), rotating anti-fungals and especially chamomile tea helped me enormously."

At work my eyes are dry and my lips seem dry, but because I talk all day on phones, I can only sip or drink on breaks. There are times when my tongue actually sticks to my mouth when that dry. Awfull. Wondering if this is a something I need to worry about. I do have Systemic Candidiasis. So I am apt to have a whole lot of syndromes. Hoping this is not one to add to the list. Are you on medical drugs? Toxins often make your mouth dry. Pesticides on plants, herbs, etc. also can cause dry mouth. Ny dry mouth goes away when I stop taking food or herbs that cause dry mouth. (I don't take "meds," since many are too toxic.

For DRY EYES, I juice about half a small onion with other vegetables, which makes my eyes quite moist. (Recall how you tear easily when peeling onions?) Also, for dry mouth, I eat mung beans SPROUTS. It naturally cleans my eyes and makes it moist. This might work for dry mouth. too."

On here I've found the cure for so many health problems from sore throat to eczema. I am now writing because I've started using VCO three weeks ago and I am loving it. The reason why I wanted to try it is because I think I have mouth candida. For the first two weeks I felt a huge difference in my mouth. It felt cleaner, fresher and that horrible white coat completely disappear!!

A few days ago I started to have an unpleasant taste in my mouth. I can't be sure if it is the metalic taste that some people describe but I can assure you that it is not nice. My tongue is not as pink as it was when I started taking VCO but not as bad as before I started taking it. My question is: Could the bad taste in my mouth be a symptom of candida die off or is it just that the oil worked in the the first two weeks and is not working anymore? Thanks very much"

Although, as I had started to take Chlorella and Spirulina at the same time I am not sure which one is causing this! I don't know whether it is the die off effect as I think that I suffer from Candida or whether my liver got overloaded because this is the result when you take or eat something that doesn't agree with your liver! No idea what to do now.... yesterday I didn't take the clorella spirulina powder or the coconut oil but nothing changed."

Francisca, a few random thoughts here ... Candida is known to accumulate in tissue that contains heavy metal deposits as the heavy metals in some manner seem to protect the Candida. Chlorella is well known to help the body excrete heavy metals by any channel available. I suspect your ingestion of the chlorella started to remove the heavy metals which accounts for the bad taste. With this start to the heavy metal removal, the Candida felt somewhat threatened and in its movement, was exposed (white tongue).

[QUESTION]  07/07/2010: Joyful from Memphis, Tn, Usa writes: "I've cooked with raw/organic/un-refined virgin coconut oil a tad, and I use it liberally in my personal care products. However, I gag whenever I try to injest it. Aside from the overall health benefits, I am curious about this oil because I am dealing with candida overgrowth. I am currently taking probiotics and enzymes from a reputable company, using raw ACV in my water daily, and I will start taking garlic (with allicin) capsules soon. Would it be necessary to consume VCO if I'm doing the other things mentioned above for candidiasis? Are there even coconut oil capsules out there?! Thanks in advance!"

I take Boron (3mg a day) Magnesium 400mg a day, and a Calcium MAYBE every other day... Maybe. I also be taking Organic Virgin Coconut oil at 3 tbsp a day (starting at one tablespoon, and working up to three tablesoons, SLOWLY so as to not upset my digestive system too much). Boron builds bone, and Magnesium is needed by so many bodily functions... VCO is a GREAT thyroid balancing agent. I also add turmeric to my coffee / VCO (coconut oil) concoction every morning.

Aside from that I also take ACV at one ounce (a shot glass full) in a glass of water and a splash of orange juice every morning.

You might want to also look at taking DIM (google it - DIM) and a good natural progesterone cream. Just suggestions per what you said your age and symptons are... Great for balancing out those damned estrogens that can make our bodies get so whacked out.

I am turning 50 this month, and these are the things I have found helpful for me.

Also - a great (beyond great, and AWESOME book actually) to read is "Breakthrough" by Suzanne Somers. Yes, Suzanne Somers.... The woman is VERY intelligent!!!!!

Good luck to you, and if nothing else, just "google" the individual elements I have mentioned to see if they look like something your body may be needing.... One of them may just be something you will be very happy to have found!

11/19/2011: Sims from Branson, Missouri replies: "I was having a hard time with my health and couldn't quite figure out what I had going on, and after some reading I figured out I had candida in my intestines (I fit the symptoms to a T ) so I started with the cold pressed coconut oil about 2 to 4 spoons a day and I am all but cured of all of my symptoms, I also started taking Apple Cider Vinegar at the same time and a strong probiotic... My health is great and I lost 5 lbs which were those last 5 that are so hard to shed, lost some puffy-ness too :) VERY happy... Thank you Earth Clinic!"

I use extra virgin coconut oil internally and externally on body every day, I regard this oil as far more curative even than olive oil because coconut oil is a stable saturated fat, whereas olive oil is a monounsaturated vegetable oil, therefore less stable and much more prone to quickly oxidise.

03/17/2010: Bill from San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines replies: "Hi Maria...It took a year to cure my candida. And coconut oil wasn't the only remedy I used. I also used the following.

* Ted's lime/lemon plus Baking soda 3 times a day for alkalizing the body.

* Occasionally Ted's ACV plus BS or BS on its own on in water to provide more energy and to provide more bicarbonates respectively.

* Teaspoon of Blackstrap Molasses in my coffee for minerals.

* Milk thistle to support my liver throughout the cure.

* Kelp tablets for iodine.

* My own homemade decoction of Tinospora cordifolia, Phyllanthus niruri(Chanca piedra or Stonebreaker) and Tumeric, all of which grow in my garden. I took this for liver, kidney and intestinal support throughout the cure. I have recently included Neem leaves in this decoction, because I found a Neem tree in my neighboorhood the other day. Neem, amongst all its other highly beneficial properties, is also highly alkalizing.

I had terrible constipation for about 7 years and usually had a bowel movement once every 4 days. Not good. The coconut oil had an immediate effect on this, my stools became smaller and softer, and eventually I started to have regular BM everyday. I cook everything in VCO now, even use it on my salads. I have banned all other polyunsaturated veg oils from my diet now, since most of these are highly processed chemically and suffer oxidation too quickly which is bad for the body. VCO should be unprocessed, stable and it takes 2-3 years to oxidize this oil.

Just to say that intestinal candida is an insidious problem that can be very hard to eradicate. It is insidious because initially you don't notice its effects, they sort of creep up on you and since I'm over 60 y o I just thought it was age...LOL. But then I stumbled on EC and read about candida. I now regard any yeast, mold or fungus as the prime human enemy now, far more destructive on the human body than viruses, bacteria etc. Fungus's are way more adaptable than any other microbe, they are neither plant nor animal, they can hide for years, they can transfer their nucleus via their hypha by penetrating host cells in order to hide and breed when under attack. The overall effect of this is to continually weaken and wear down the body's immune system, and eventually to provide a wonderful acid environment to allow in a plethora of other viruses and bacteria. This is why it takes so long to get rid of and recover from candida.

Simply put, there is no one magic bullet for candida. I still regard Ted's lemon/lime remedy as the prime remedy that hepled to destroy my candida. But I also have a very high regard for VCO too."

1. How much lime/lemon juice and baking soda is you use?

Use 1/2 tspn Baking soda dissolved in the juice of one lemon or lime. Just slowly add the BS to the lemon/lime juice in 1/2 glass of water until it stops fizzing(Do not worry if you use a little more or less than 1/2 tspn BS). Take this at least 2 times a day -- at least one hour before or two hours after meals. Never take this remedy with meals. Take this 5 times a week with 2 days rest every week.

2. Milk Thistle - is this in a form of tea or powder. How much and how frequently do you use it?

I took Milk Thistle powder in capsule form -- Two 1500 mg capsules per day. Do not buy the tablets, buy the capsule form containing powder. I took this every day in order to help my liver cope with the Herx reaction or fungal die-off.

Kelp tablets - not sure I need it or do I?

Kelp contains minerals, but I took it mainly for the iodine to support my immune system. It is always a good idea to support your immune system as much as possible. You can also use iodine foot-painting (transdermal absorbtion) as well as described here if you like:

As you mention it will hid in the body waiting for an opportunity to start growing and a person will never know it. I see fungus as one of the great cleanser of the earth digesting unused material. But what does this tell us about what we are consuming and we get an overgrowth inside. As you know too much toxins and waste. I believe eating clean is a big part of conquering this dis-ease.

I am now for the 4th time in my life dealing with this. I am having great results with EC remedies and your posts. I also used the maple syrup combined with baking 3 xs a day to kick start the clean up. Boy did it do it. I lost 7 pounds from stomach in about 3 days. From what I have researched and read here on the earthclinic site and other websites there appears to be 3 catagories of collidial silver products, those being collidial silver, a ionically produced silver and a ionic silver w/ protein. From what I have read the ionic silver products when ingested and hit the stomach acids react and become a salt chloride which is then eliminated from the body. If this is correct then I don't see where this would be an effective treatment.

My question is would a "true" Collidial silver be effective as a treatment for Candida as my understanding from what I've read is that it is the silver particles that must come into contact with the fungus/bacteria/virus in order to kill it so it can then be eliminated from the body. So far I have only found one website offering research data supporting the internal use of collidial silver for eliminating candida while also concluding that there is a more noticable benefit from ionic silver when used topically rather than internally. I do agree with the post I read here on collidial silver that if taken internally, a probiotic supplement should be used as well. Any comments and insights would be much appreciated as it appears Collidial Silver could eliminate Candida at a much faster rate than some of the other candidia cleanses I've read about that take 4 months or longer. The doctors were baffled. Of course for most of them, candida is a made up illness. In NJ, doctors can't list it as a diagnosis cause it doesn't exist. No, doc, it wasn't Meniere's, or an imbalance in the ear canal nor any of the other guesses that you took, it was the genuine article: Candida Albicans. As a result of their not knowing, I went home untreated (except that the night duty nurse tried to give me the heart patient's medication) and treated it myself: I took a series of 10 colonics followed by ozone rectal insufflations which stopped the yeast dead. The ozone killed all the little nasty buggers hiding internally and flooded them with ozone/oxygen. I ate no sugar, flour, dairy or yeast products for a year. Two weeks ago I had my first dose of regular whole wheat yeasted bread and bada bing: no swelling, no itching, no bags under my eyes, no tingles. I recommend a few colonics a year followed by the ozone insufflations, just to make sure!"

I also get tired, have gas, diahrea, joint pain, sore eyes, and many other problems when ever I eat foods with sugar. I tried the oil pulling starting about 5 weeks ago and at first had itchy rashes for a few days. This went away and I continue to oil pull twice a day for 30 min each. All my symptoms have decreased substantially, particulary the thrush (or whatever it is). I've been to doctors all over the country, have had tests from A to Z, and none have found anything. i have used this for people suffering from rashes, etc. from any yeast related problem. cream of tarter, comes from the making of wine, so it is mostly made from grape skins pulp and seeds. it also does not have the salt of baking soda so is a better choice for high blood pressure. for thrush just swish around in the mouth and swallow. also great for acid reflux."

(You can test your saliva with Litmus paper to see the difference), but the Cream of Tartar powder also kills yeast all by itself! What a great combo to help with the battle! Most folks need between 1 to 2 tablespoons of the powder daily depending on the severity of the infection. You can mix it with water or just plop the powder in your mouth and swallow water to wash it down. (Don't breathe in while the powder is still dry in your mouth as some of the still dry powder can go down the wrong way). You can divide the tablespoon into 3 teaspoons to take less at one shot. Expect to have the runs for the first few days using the Cream of Tartar as the initial die off of yeast happens.

So take the cream of tartar then at a seperate time take the I Flora (2 capsules 3 to 4 times daily with or with out meals) and the Inulin powder (one teaspoon 3 to 4 times a day) as well. These days I've been using the Inulin from NOW (www.nowfoods.com). It is significantly less expensive that the stuff I used to use as it is from chicory and not artichoke hearts, yet all of the studies done by the German researchers from the University of Leipzig who first successfully used Inulin used the Chicory kind, so why spend more when the chicory Inulin will more than do the job and for a lot less money!

Most docs and patients who have used this program have put a considerable dent in their Candida Infections in 30 days without the problem of compliance to a restrictive diet. The program will work regardless of what you're eating!"

[NAY]  Ted from Bangkok, thailand replies: "Dear Karl: Yes, I have looked on that issue for many years and for me it has always left me in the gray area, or one that I prefer not to recommend. It must be noted that it is with great pains that I not use this, despite many temptations. Why I am never tempted there are many reasons.

Of course you are free to try the remedy and I might be wrong. However, let's look at some of my complaints on such use.

If I have a choice between cream of tartar and potassium bicarbonate, I would choose potassium bicarbonate (and baking soda) for the candida problems. Another form of potassium is potassium citrate, which is free of the problems also. However, people whose body are high in nitrates (and I know because I had experience with this), they can sensitize to too much potassium, causing heart beat problems. At least this is my experience. A safer form is the citrate, or sodium citrate, which is superior than the baking soda. Basically sodium citrate is nothing more than citric acid mixed with baking soda, until pH reaches 8.0, in which case the resultant reaction in a water solution, will yield a sodium citrate. As a simple home remedy, it is a lemon and baking soda formula. If you simply wanted more citrate, than its likely to be a more baking soda is added than the original one which were (8 teaspoon of lime plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda) to be a pH of about 7.5.

Also, I could not confirm the original source of information of Dr. Tom Revis, other than that one quote that it was taken.

The other problem I have is the acid pH of the initial solution, which is taken to be about 3.5. It's the same problem I had with apple cider vinegar, which must be neutralized to a basically more neutral solution to a pH of 7, otherwise you get burning sensation of the esophagus at pH below 7.

The other issue is that when we prepare the growth of a yeast medium culture (which I might be wrong, but candida is yeast too), one patents uses (Nitrate reductase from yeasts, the preparation and use thereof Document Type and Number: United States Patent 5294539):

3. An NAD(P)H-dependent nitrate reductase according to claim 1, wherein the synthetic nutrient medium contains essentially:

0.04 g/l m-inositol, 1.0 g/l potassium dihydrogen phosphate, 1.0 g/l magnesium sulfate, 4.5 g/l potassium hydrogen tartrate, 1.5 g/l potassium nitrate, and 20.0 g/l glucose.

The cream of tartar is the potassium hydrogen tartrate (other synonyms are potassium hydrogen tartrate cream of tartar, potassium acid tartrate, monopotassium tartrate and potassium bitartrate).

Also in autistics and certain people with a problem of leaky gut, it was found that tartrate to be high and would be toxic to them. While it is true that tartrate is part of the Kreb's cycle, it is also true of citrate, acetates, and malates. The most results of energy increase, and hence, the immune system appears to be the acetates and the malates. While my own experience in achieving superior soda loading (a term atheletes used to achieve lower lactic acidosis), involves either or both maintaining a stable alkaline pH, or getting cells rid of the lactic acid. Now, maintaining alkaline pH, I found that citrates work better than bicarbonates in general. While the body rids of lactic acidosis best with acetate. The problem about acetate use is it won't achieve effective alkalization as with the citrates. So in my opinion the citrates and acetates are preferred to raise the immune system best. As to the problem of tartrates many people with bacteria, or toxins, the bacteria or other organism tends to produce too much tartrates, causing the body to be in excess of tartrate whenever people do get sick. This is especially true of leaky gut syndrome and autistics. A small study attached, below on autistics can be read for your perusal. There are many others.

A book excerpts on tartaric acid (from http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/bookstore/autism.asp#biologicalTretments )is as follows:

"A toxicology manual (3) indicates that tartaric acid is a highly toxic substance. As little as 12 g has caused human fatality with death occurring from 12 hours to 9 days after ingestion. Gastrointestinal symptoms were marked (violent vomiting and diarrhea, abdominal pain, thirst) and followed by cardiovascular collapse and/or acute renal failure(3). A gram is approximately the weight of a cigarette. This compound especially damages the muscles and the kidney (4,5) and may even cause fatal human nephropathy (kidney damage) (6) which was of interest to me since the two brothers with autism initially evaluated had the extreme muscle weakness as well as evidence of impaired renal function."

One more problem is the level of tartaric acid in autistics is so high that it reaches toxic levels in autistics. The problem about this autistics quite often get yeast infections, whether they are candida albicans or not I don't know. And yeast infections as a result have high heavy metals.

Tartaric acid is not recommended for people with either chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia. It decreases the malic acid, and reduces the energy levels. Again if you don't believe me, here is a quote, source (http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/book/bk5sect2.html):

"A large percentage of patients with the disorder fibromyalgia who have high amounts of tartaric acid in the urine respond favorably to treatment with malic acid (11-13). I presume that supplements of malic acid are able to overcome the toxic effects of tartaric acid by supplying deficient malic acid. Fifty percent of patients with fibromyalgia who also frequently have elevated yeast metabolites also suffer from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) even though their diet may have adequate or even excessive sugar(14). The reason may be due to the inhibition of the Krebs cycle by tartaric acid. The Krebs cycle is the main provider of raw materials such as malic acid that can be converted to blood sugar (Figure 6) when the body uses up its supply. (The technical name for this process is gluconeogenesis or "new formation of glucose".) If sufficient malic acid cannot be produced, the body cannot produce the sugar glucose which is the main fuel for the brain. The person with hypoglycemia feels weak and their thinking is foggy because there is insufficient fuel for their brain. If adults with elevated values of tartaric acid in the urine have foggy thinking, have little energy, and are so depressed that they may seek out Dr. Kevorkian, imagine what a young child who has some of the same toxins and who has yet to form a clear concept of the world must feel like."

One other that is not mentioned is heart palpitations, diarrhea, excess sweating, and fainting more likely I think from the excess use of potassium than anything else as this basically skews your blood biochemistry and it is a waste product of yeast."

I even wonder if I already have damage from using it before (in much lower doses than suggested here, and for arthritis).

My favorite remedy for candida is Huang Lian Su, a chinese herb available at Chinese pharmancies, but not where I am currently living, which brought me to your site. I did take some GSE--grapefruit seed extract--before heading to the grocery to get other remedies to try, and realized as I was shopping, that the symptoms were already subsiding. So GSE might be at the top of my new list of favorite helps for candida.

The toxicity issues around cream of tartar as documented in the "nay" article were very surprizing, and I will never use it again. The levels recommended by someone else posting on this page sound potentially extremely damaging, when compared with the information that follows in that entry. I hope you will remove the suggestion of cream of tartar as a remedy given the extreme hazzards, and the poor public awareness of these hazzards.

The comments posted for this one intrigued me to do some more research on cream of tartar. Here's what I found. Cream of Tartar is NOT the same thing as Tartaric Acid - although some try to use the names synonymously.

The technical name for Cream of tartar is potassium bitartrate which is not exactly the same as straight tartaric acid. It is formed during the cold stabilization process in wine making and happens when the potassium that naturally occurs in grapes binds with the tartaric acid which also naturally occurs in grapes. Thus diluting (neutralizing) the tartaric acid and making a white crystalline substance called potassium bitartrate.

Let's also note that cream of tartar is a food grade substance which is regulated by the US FDA. It is widely used in baking, as well as some sodas and lots of other foods. If it were that toxic to the consumer, I sincerely doubt the Food and Drug Administration would allow it to be freely used in foods available to everyone!"

These neurological symptoms may be due to a severe B-12 deficiency. Please find a way to obtain B-12. I recommend sublingual methylcobalamin, (a very effective active form for nerves) and or injections. (injected methylcobalamin if possible). For most people, symptoms can return in a few days even with injections, so I recommend daily supplementation.

Daily supplementation with the best B-complex you can find is also critical for healing. I suggest trying the lower dose type of B-complex, then add extra individual B's. For instance, extra Folate may be needed for GI trouble. B6 is also very helpful for IBS, but in good measure because it can irritate nerves in amounts above 50mg daily. B12, Folate, and B6 also aid neurotransmitter formation, good for depression, anxiety, irritability, and logical thinking. On the top of that I am a vegetarian and I am completely lost off what I will be eating in the future.... My breakfast was normally fruits.... or porridge or muesli but now what could I eat???any suggestions?

I eat veggies (nothing starchy), eggs, yogurt and lil bits of cheese. My breakfast is an omlette with different types of veggies and salsa for taste.

Once I omitted fruits and grains and other sugary items, I have been feeling much better but I still have some ways to go.

I also consume lots of raw garlic with food 3 times daily.

And I drink 2 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar in 8oz lukewarm water 3 time daily.

Diet is not the greatest way to deal with infectious disease anyway. Fasting helps if you don't have diabetic/hypoglycemic problems.

Part of the answer to the question you asked is: If the infection occurs following a round or two of antibiotics for infectious disease the most likely culprit is candida albicans, which normally is kept under control by the good guys who reside in our intestines, but run rampant when these good guys are killed off by those antibiotics for some other infection. The reason why diet is good for this infection is because candida loves the acid environment caused by lots of sugars and other sweets and dislikes the alkaline condition of a a better and more nutritious diet. When you read EC you will learn
about alkalinizing your body to get rid of candida and other fungi/molds because they don't like the alkaline condition either.

Eating more nutritiously also makes your immune system healthier & stronger which makes it more likely that you won't need antibiotics for infections, because your immunne system is the hero in keeping you healthy. I was just reading on line recently about the effect that sugar has on your immue system - they knock out your white blood cells which are the ones that fight off the invaders that cause infectious disease."

It is an amazingly complex problem that if solved could cure many other secondary diseases and deserves the serious attention it gets here. We should all have this information, yet medical professionals remain largely ignorant of how widespead candida is.

There are a few remedies here that have some obviously unintentional errors. First, colloidal silver should never be mixed with bleach, however it is safe to mix it with hydrogen peroxide. Second, although lemons are acid they are converted to alkaline by the body and are highly beneficial.

I also wonder at times if the people who critize the Atkins diet have ever read the book. Atkins does not ever recommend a no carb diet, he recommends a low carb alkaline diet. Prepackaged food, refined grains and sugar put profit before people and that message is Atkins real contribution.

A high meat diet even with adequate carbohydrates (in their healthy form) is toxic. First problem; Refined grains falsely appeared cheaper to buy because refining increased the volume of food but decreased the nutritional value. Second problem; Then about 200 years ago someone learned how to refine sugar but the body has never learned how to handle the tremendous load of carbohydrates that flood directly into your bloodstream just like a drug. Third problem; Mix refined grains with refined sugar, and hey maybe add some yeast or milk, and what do you get?...You get the perfect food for yeasts, molds and fungus and a product that is not fit for human nutrition or consumption.

Dr. Atkins was a humanitarian cardiologist who came under attack in 1973 and was charged with fraud by the AMA and the FDA for suggesting to the public that our commercialized diets of refined carbohydrates was killing us with obesity, heart attacks and diabetes. He recommended cutting out sugars and refined starches to cure heart disease and he proposed that all major diseases have one thing in common and that is a "metabolic imbalance that causes carbohydrate intolerance".

In his book he opposed a diet predominantly composed of refined carbs and called our culture of "coke-cake-catsup-cookies-candy" a "killing culture". Atkins also wrote in his book that "candy bars and soft drinks should carry a warning on the package the same as on cigarette packages stating that the product could be dangerous to your health". The Rockefellers, Coke, Pepsi, Kellogg's etc. took offence to these statements and lobbied the gov. to charge Atkins with fraud in order to suppress and manipulate his information and went on a campaign to discredit his ideas. The vicious attack worked, most people still won't actually read the book for themselves but still feel they are qualified to criticise it based solely on the AMA's and FDA's propaganda.

Obesity and heart disease now affects over 35% of the population; some of our youngest generation will die before their parents and 40% of us will get cancer during our lives and yet the AMA refuses to relate the increasing rates of disease to our nutritionally depleted and toxic commercial diets.

Atkins was not rigid or dogmatic in his food recommendations as long as they where low carb. He recommended eggs, cheese, fish and shellfish in addition to lamb, veal, poultry and beef and those who have read the book would know that Atkins states in his book that the "best source of protein is EGGS". He also recommends that you eat mainly watery fruits and vegetables as opposed to starchy ones and even in his most restricted carb diet which is short term and intended to repair your metabolism he recommends using lemons.

Why was the Atkins diet really attacked? You might as well just ask yourself why America is the only advanced country in the world that does not have universal health care and why medical professionals are not trained in the bodies nutritional needs or detecting nutritional deficiencies. You might also ask yourself why the gov. has tried to ban the sale of vitamins and natural health products...could it be because it's just more profitable to keep you sick and keep you using dangerous and expensive Rx medications forever and lure you into falsely believing that commercial food products are safe and healthy.

Unfortunately, suggesting that people who are sick should focus on controversial environmental and political issues is too demanding when you understand that Candida can make life not worth living even if it doesn't kill you! Of course we should all try to reduce or eliminate our beef consumption just as we should our consumption of pollution and war fuelling oil/gas products and even those mislabelled 'friendly biofuels' that waste millions of acres of agricultural land. If you accept political/corporate explanations of global warming targeted at gaining your willingness if not your eagerness to pay billions in carbon taxes without examining the science then you are ignoring the reality of HAARP, the fact that Europeans have been attacking the northern ice shield with icebreakers for over 30 years in order to create a northern shipping channel, and that this winter 08/09 was the coldest one on record for over 30 years. The truth is that long term the earth is headed for another mini ice age cycle and political and corporate controls that only serve to manipulate and withhold information were designed for ensuring profits and raising taxes and make for extremely bad science. Just try to explain why our gov. is currently spending billions on bailing out car manufacturers who still insist on producing more gas guzzling environmentally polluting vehicles and bankers who have taken record profits and bonuses based on fraud.

The reality today is that about 97% of N. Americans are carnivorous and about 1% are strict vegans who use no animal products and about 2% are vegetarians who do not usually use animal products except for eggs, milk and cheese. Any vegan will find a low carb diet almost impossible unless he lives almost entirely on nuts but 'vegetarians' who eat animal products can easily substitute eggs or cheese for meat protein with full approval from Dr. Atkins. Many people including myself believe it's hypocritical for 'vegetarians' to condemn those who eat chicken or beef but feel it's perfectly acceptable to eat a chicken embryo and wear leather Birkenstocks. Vegans who are hostile, dogmatic and radical against all meat eaters or Atkins but have never even read his book also naively play very nicely into the secret agendas of the commercial food producers.

It is estimated that up to 80% of the population suffers from Candida related diseases and a low carb diet is absolutely necessary for a sustained recovery. There are many good low carb diets and the main point is to be aware of your consumption of carbs by getting a carb counter and then counting them. While the average N. American today consumes 200-300 grams of carbs per day, a low carb corrective diet should consist of from 10 to 50 grams per day depending on individual tolerance levels.

The Dr. Atkins diet can quickly and easily teach you how to stay on a low carb diet, for weight loss or carb restriction diets-but first you have to actually read the book!

After you have carbs under control, are feeling healthy and happy, maybe then you might like to investigate the vegan lifestyle. I have talked to sooo many people over the years that claim to have read it and actually never did. What a funny thing to lie about. Anyway, I was a runner for about 10 years, started after I quit smoking in 1990. In the 90's of course, is when everything you heard was about how fat makes you fat. So, as long as it didn't contain any fat you could eat it and not have to worry. Pasta, bread, coke, potatoes, sugar, and on and on, the wonderful world of fat-free products was born. How many hours I spent reading labels in the grocyer learning how much fat was in what. Well, in about the year 1999 I came down with severe arthritis in one of my knees and after trying to nurse it back over a year the orthopedic told me I would have to give up running. In case you didn't know, telling a runner he can't run any more is pretty devastating. They did tell me I could find something else to do such as biking, walking, swimming, etc. I tried several different things and everything seemed to still bother my knee. So, I wasn't really getting much aerobic activity. For the first time in my life I started putting on some weight and I didn't like it. Keep in mind I am still eating the fat free lifestyle. A lot of pasta, bread, all that good starchy fat free stuff. I decided to try the Atkins diet. I worked with some rather large people at the time who had gone on it and had lost significant amounts of weight. So, I bought the Atkins book and read it from cover to cover. Absolutely the most boring thing I had ever read in my life, but I did read it. In the year 2000 I started keeping a daily journal of how much I weighed and what I ate. I went on a strict diet, using the atkins method and the weight started coming off. Keep in mind I am not a big person and had only put on maybe 15-20 pounds. But, if you are not a very big person that can be quite a bit of weight. Anyway, this many years later I have gone on it and gone off of it. It doesn't take long if I go off of it that I start putting on some unwanted pounds. If I start eating pasta, rice, potatoes and sweets I start putting the weight back on again. In a couple of months probably 15 or so pounds. And, no I don't eat large amounts of food if I go off it. I am very conscious of portions and I am not a snacker. So, after many years of analyzing this subject I will still get into arguments with people about what has caused the world to become so fat. And rightfully so when you "still" today have nutritionists who preach to the world that fat is what makes you fat. Now keep in mind that fat is not good for you. And that is why the original writer's post is so right on target. The people who have never read the Atkins book think you are going to live on eggs, bacon and cheese for the rest of your life. This is so absulutely untrue. I explain it to paople like this where anyone can understand it. Fat makes you fat on the inside not on the outside. In other words fat does clog your arteries, cause heart problems and on and on. But, it is the sugar and starch that people consume huge quantities of that is killing so many people. My theory is if our government would make it illegal to sell flour and sugar this nation would be much healthier for it. But, of course, that is not going to happen. So, people ask me well what do you eat. I tell them, anything I want except for flour and sugar. And, when I feel like splurging, which we all have to do once in a while, my poison of choice is pasta or a homemade scratch dessert. Lean meats, veg's, fruits, nuts, seeds, grains are the way to go. Even potatoes and corn once in a while aren't going to kill you. The amount of starch and sugar that the average overweight American takes in in a single day is staggering and they can't figure out why they won't lose weight. One of these days this country is going to realize that when you go to a fast food joint it is not the fat that is making the world so overweight it is the buns-flour, fries-starch, giant coke-sugar, fried chicken-the flour coating, the meat and cheese were the best part of the meal. The best diet that I have found that works for me becuase I will be the first to admit, I love sugar and starch, is: meat, veg's and fruit during the week and pizza or pasta on saturday night. Again, I ask you: Have you firsthand experience with Candida? Because I have, and cured myself...and learned SO much in the process about the complexity of the thing... Millions of dollars of research haven't exactly been thrown at the thing like it's a Pink Ribbon cure you know.

And, I'll have you know that it was the Yeast Connection book that did help immensely, along with independant articles/research put into very disciplined practice. I also connected many dots from the book as to causes, which would not have been well understood or examined without the education found in that book. And talking with others (for one, a naturapathic physician who also had Candida) further helped to validate my findings.

Yes, this is such a complex situation, and I am only one unique individual with my own unique health record. I do believe there are other methods that could be helpful than what I did; that there is no 'black and white' cure all, that lifestyle changes may be necessary for the duration needed to achieve cure, and there is so much still to learn. Wow, big surprise!

Compared to other conditions, the info on Candida is extremely sparse. It is only yet begun! How can you come here and claim to know it all! (Notice there is no question mark at the end of my statement. You don't need one when you know the truth: that your post is bankrupt)

To be honest I was perplexed too at phoenix's post questioning the candida issue being as widespread as it is. I have done quite a bit of research over the years and have helped people overcome it and really believe it is a major problem here in America. Perhaps, in Australia you aren't seeing it. Maybe your diet's are better there. Not so here in the US. Candida is a very serious problem but, yes there are people who could mistake it for other imbalances in the digestive tract.

We should look at this. What can lead to C. ?(for brevity's sake I will call it C.) It is caused mainly from a combination of way too many carbs in the diet, sugar, processed foods, really anything not close to original source, rampant use of antibiotics here in the US and also poor environments too such as molds or fungus growing home/workplace.

C. is a yeast or mold form itself. It can affect the skin, throat=thrush, organs and in women manifests as yeast infections. It is this alone that women are more affected than men due to our delicate balance that is apparent when it is thrown off. Everyone should know that there are candida tests that one can find all over the internet. If you question it in yourself I would recommend going over the test.

Symptoms that must be present in order for it to really be C. are: abdominal gas, headaches/migraines, excessive fatigue(and I mean really gassed-out type), serious cravings for sugar and/or alcohol, high anxiety- a strong indicator, vaginitis, rectal itching, the inability to concentrate/think clearly, hyperactivity/mood swings, itchy skin, diarrhea, acne, eczema, depression, poor memory, low sex drive, muscle weakness, toenail/fingernail fungus.

Now, understand that I named all of these because many of them are present for it to be truly C. They may not all be present simultaneously but you will swing through many of them. And there just may be all of them at once! It can get worse too once it infiltrates organs leading to leaky gut, nervous disorders to name a few. That's when life becomes unbearable and there are many that have this.

Phoenix mentions Dr. Andrew Weil and his caution about overreacting to C. due to a single book but that single book made people aware of this major issue that the medical community still does not give credibility to. Weil is a part of that community and often, though he is "open" to alternatives is to me a "safe player" trying to make himself look good in both camps. I find he plays the line often. Don't get me wrong- he definitely serves a purpose- to wake those up who totally swallow the medical community's not-so-sound advice. Because he himself is an MD, it turns their heads and at least gets their attention to perhaps question some things. So, in that sense, he is doing a good service. Then, there are some of us who question everything and have for a long time so we don't need his authority to "have permission" to do this. That being said, I say that C. is much more rampant than the medical community gives credence.

Now, here are some key players in helping the immune system fight C. Remember, acidophilis is a natural enemy of candida. But, there are other wonderful herbs to help that are very powerful and can only help the body. They are reishi and chaga mushrooms which are from Chinese medicine and are adaptogens. Also, horsetail and pau d' arco which can both be taken as teas and can wipeout candida as well. I would also recommend an alkaline diet or at least adding in rawfoods as vegetables, and green juices.

The die-off can be a problem as it can occur in layers. You can file through symptoms and then stop and then another die-off will occur and more symptoms, etc. Drink plenty of water and on 1-2 pinches of sea salt to one liter of water. It is important to re-establish a healthy terrain in our body. Remember we are an ecosystem within our own body and we must help it flourish properly. Eat whole foods, take herbs that can heal and help the immune system, exercise within reason, rebounding is excellent to clean the lymph system, find peace within (which could be difficult if you have a serious case of C.!)

Some other healing key players: colloidal silver, zeolites, msm, coconut oil and there are more but I just feel that to get this info out is a must.

And I applaud "Hi Someone Who Cured Candida Naturally" for challenging this post as I was bothered by it but was going to blow it off. I woke up this morning feeling I had to come here and say something on this. I hope it helps someone out there. I have watched people really suffer from this affliction.

02/11/2010: Someone Who Cured Candida Naturally from La, Mi replies: "Hello again pheonix: i admire the way you handled my post. That's strength of character for sure!

I understand where you are coming from. Encouraging people to get a second opinion, or a third or fourth, as well as really listening to their body and gaining more insight into that 'intuition' is key. But i think that goes for anything on this site, (or for anything in life?)

But, suspicion that it's 'real', and insinuation that people may be making up the condition or being hypocondriach, seems only to detract... That is the main 'beef' i had with your post. I feel that may not have been your intention. i'm here to learn too. I'll move on.

To answer the questions:

I noticed candida symptoms in may 2008. It came on suddenly and i believe, after my research, that my main contributing factors were: 1)viral (had mono earlier that year) 2) worn adrenals (main trigger of elevated symptoms?) 3) slight vitamin deficiency from taking bc pills (was off them for many months, but have always struggled to maintain sufficient iron) 4 )i had taken antiobiotics in my lifetime, though not in years. Just to throw that in.

Slowly i noticed more and more things as time went on (about a month).

I did not go to a doctor or anything like that. I researched symptoms and somehow narrowed it down to candida. This was not overnight like most ailments i've had; this was much more digging and re-evaluation. But, i had some very tell-tale unique symptoms which fit the bill. It was not easy to pin this down. I had to put the puzzle pieces together of the very minute and 'odd' symptoms i was having.

But i am familiar with this process. I have cured myself naturally many times and know to listen to my inner voice or higher guidance, and this has brought much success. This is important to note as it is certainly an element.

I got rid of it basically by following the diet in the yeast connection book to-the-letter. Eventually i added more protein into my diet (just my own idea...i certainly needed it). I also followed a garlic (yeast killing) regiment, and then a probiotic regiment. I have other posts here that describe that in detail.

Around september of that same year, i was feeling recovered and began to introduce the 'forbidden foods' back into my diet slowly, and to drink wine again; things like that.

Been feeling fine since then with no relapse, no attention to special dietary habits (i eat raw, but i can eat honey, etc). Basically, it's forgotten.

This is all I can say and please do with it what you will. If it wasn't candida, whatever struck me sounded just like it, and following a combined, puzzled together regiment banished it away. It certainly was no 'vague-cure-all' type of thing. This was an intense strategy that took immense patience.

I do see your point about possible 'fad' ailments being tacked onto any complaint. But i think that advice for people trying to steer clear of that is to be thoughtful and mindful, do tons of research, get professional assistance...and read lots of earth clinic : )
