[YEA] 08/27/2008: Steve from Toronto, Canada writes: "I laughed when I seen yellow mustard as a remedy to a burn, but so far I've had it on my finger for almost 40 minutes and I feel no pain at all. The remedy says to wait for it to be fully dried so I'll wait abit longer before I took it off but wow it works. I burned my hand when trying to take out chicken from the oven. Turned out there was a hole in the glove, bummer."

[YEA] 07/22/2008: Suzy from Novi, Mich writes: "When I was in grade school a lunch lady told me about putting mustard on a burn after a girl in the kitchen burned herself badly.
I have used mustard ever since and it works miracles. You have to IMMEDIATELY apply the mustard in a thick layer. It will still burn for a few momments but as the mustard dries it takes the heat with it. especially helpful on burned fingers since the burns do not blister!"

[YEA] 06/11/2008: Sandra from Birmingham, USA writes: "A coworker told us that she had put yellow mustard on a burn and the pain stopped right away. Others in the room stated that they too had the same experience. I've not heard of using yellow mustard for burns but, as one who is always getting burned on the stove, I will be giving it a go."

[YEA] 09/16/2007: Jeannie from COSP, CO writes: "I was told about the Mustard remedy for burns over 10 years ago. At first I thought it sounded crazy. However, I had hot grease splash on my right hand, covering most of it. I immediately got the "plain yellow mustard" and smeared in over the entire burn. Today, there is no sign of any scaring at all. You need to put it on failry thick, and the key is to leave it on until it is ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DRY. If you remove it too soon it will not work! Believe me, I've done that."

[YEA] 03/11/2007: Kristina from Waukesha, Wisconsin writes: "Hi, my grandma was a chef for forty years and whenever she got burned she would cut a fresh onion in half and apply it directly to the burn, I am not sure for how long. It would heal very quickly. I don't think she needed to do it more than once."

[YEA] 06/10/2007: Nadia B from Toronto, Ontario Canada writes: "Whenever I've gotten a burn or a bruise, I've used raw pork fat (salo) applied directly to the wound and change the fat as needed. (After 8-12 hours or overnight) It never fails! The key is to apply it immediatly. I go to my local butcher and ask for pork salo. I cut the fat up into thin pieces (0.5 inch thick) of various sizes and then store them in the freezer in case of emergency. That way I always have some on hand. (Pork salo is very cheap, and in some cases the butcher will give it to you for free). DO NOT try this remedy using bacon etc (the salt will irritate the wound)."

[YEA] 07/23/2008: Demetrios (gsd @ es link . net) from Bayonne, New Jersey writes: "If you get a kitchen burn that has not broken the skin, but you know you will definitely get a blister. Apply a paper towel or tissue with rubbing alcohol soaked on it and leave it on for awhile. Keep it wet. The time depends on the severity of the burn. If after 15 minutes or more you take the paper off and it still stings place it on again with more alcohol. What this does it it soaks up the burn and prevents the skin from forming any blisters. I have been doing this since I was a child and was taught it by my Mother, and have never gotten a blister in 50 plus years.
This is an old Greek remedy. Good health to us all. Demetrios."

[NAY] 04/04/2007: Ginger from Seattle, WA writes: "Pure Vanilla Extract (remedy) on Small Burn (ailment): I acquired a small burn to a finger through a cooking mishap. I specifically googled for ways to stop the pain of a (not-third degree) burn, and found this website. I poured a small amount of pure vanilla extract directly on the burn and waited a few minutes. It appeared to have no effect, the pain quite pronounced and unchanged."

[YEA] 06/07/2008: Cyndi from Roethis, Austria writes: "I have always known ACV is good for sunburn, one cup in a tub of water and the sunburn is gone! So, when I was at work alone and severly burned my hand, I put ACV in a sink of water with ice cubes. I had to wait until someone else came into work before I could go to the hospital. On and off for about an hour I kept soaking my burnt hand in the ACV solution. When I arrived at the hospital my hand was bandaged and treated and I was told to return the next day to have this treament repeated. The next day I went back to the hospital and as the bandages were removed, the doctor was shocked! The deep red welt, the blister and all signs of a burn were gone.I had only a pink line. When I explained I had used ACV and ice, the staff were amazed! It truly worked a miracle, where I would have had a scar and therapy, I had onle one day of discomfort. I thank my mother for this."

[YEA] 01/05/2007: Jessica from Raleigh, nc writes: "I burned my hand from the steam on my tea pot (I never knew how hot that can be!). I sat there with ice, and it still hurt. So I went on here and saw the ACV remedy for burns. I first tried it with gauze soaked in the ACV which was fine, but I wanted to type, so I put on some a white cotton glove (the kind you sleep in with moisturizer) and soaked it with the ACV. It took about an hour for the burning to go away. I took a nap and when I woke up not only had the pain dissapeared but there is nary a red spot on my hand! PS. That tea I was making was for a cold, so while I had the ACV out, I poured some into my water bottle & drank that, and have been sipping it all night. It is about six hours later and I am finally feeling a bit better."

[YEA] 10/28/2006: Larry from Saunderstown, RI writes: "Regular vinegar on a sunburn takes the pain out of a sunburn. Growing up in southern Rhode Island sunburns could be pretty severe. I was in a bar one day with a sunburned friend (He said you can't get burned because it was windy out) when the lady bartender suggested putting vinegar on it. Other than smelling like a french fry ( Rhode Islanders put vinegar on their fries) he felt a lot better some quick!"
