EGG WHITES

31 YEA
2 BETTER BUT NOT CURED
1 WARNING!

[YEA]  04/04/2007: Ginger from Seattle, WA writes: "Egg Whites (remedy) on Small Burn (ailment): I acquired a small burn to a finger through a cooking mishap. I specifically googled for ways to stop the pain of a (not-third degree) burn, and found this website. I folded up a paper towel, dipped it in the albumen (white) of one egg, and then rested the paper towel directly on the burn. Every five minutes, I resoaked the towel with the egg white and reapplied it to the burn, keeping it moist. I did this for 25 minutes, carefully washing my hand afterward. There was a small sting for another 15 minutes, but it was nowhere near as ferocious as initially experienced. I don't suggest applying ice afterward, for the sting returned when the burn was moistened. Let it dry and air freely."

[YEA]  02/28/2007: Annita from Myrtle Beach, SC writes: "My mother has told this story many times in the last 30 years. When I was about 4 years old I got a severe burn on the inside of my forearm. Apparently, it was a 2nd degree burn as it was evident to her that 2 layers of skin had been burned. My mother immediately applied egg whites mixed with alum to the burn and covered it with gauze. (Alum is usually found on the spice aisle at the grocery store and is used as an ingredient in baking powder, as a crisping agent for pickles and to harden gelatin.) She says that the following day I was outside playing with other children and fell - forearm down on the ground. She was amazed that I immediately got up and began playing again with no indication of any pain from the burn. I'm not sure of the significance of the alum but I'm now 35 years old and, within my memory, there has never been any sign of a scar on my arm."

[YEA]  08/18/2006: Erin from Kalispell, MT writes: "I burned my hand baking cookies and was in some really bad pain. I put ice on it, but nothing would get rid of the sting. Finally, I found this site and tried the egg white thing. I just lay my hand in a bowl of egg whites for about 20 minutes. When I washed my hand off, the sting was gone and it didn't come back! I would recommend this cure to anyone."

EC: Egg whites happen to also be one of the best cures to lower a fever. Read more about it here http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/fever.html

[YEA]  06/20/2006: Darrin from Kennesaw, Ga writes: "I burned one of my fingers while cooking and put it on ice immediately. After an hour and a half of uncomfortable chilling and almost out of ice, I googled "heal" and "burns" and hit this site. I read about the egg white technique and gave it a try. I soaked some egg white in a folded-up paper towel and wrapped it around my finger. After 20 minutes I took the paper towel off and I don't feel any pain any more. Egg white really works! Thanks guys!"

HONEY

9 YEA

[YEA]  02/09/2009: Julie from Greeley, Colorado writes: "I burnt my knuckles while ironing; the skin was red and painful and it hurt really bad. I'm against using medications and really needed some relief. I looked up some remedies on this site, but being a poor college kid I didn't have most of the stuff people listed except honey. I was also told to soak my burn in warm water. I decided to try both. First I put honey on the burn for fifteen minutes then I soaked my knuckles in warm water. I did this for about an hour. The redness had gone and it hurt less. The pain is almost gone and I don't think it will scar. Thank you to this website and all the helpful hints."

Well, I apply it directly to both areas and cover with a bandage before bedtime every night and within a week or 2 I saw it disappear. I also applied it to my keloid scar after surgery. It does wonders. I thank God. God is good."

[YEA]  10/06/2006: Joni from Grafton, OH writes: "Honey is also great for BURNS. The other night we were burning some brush in the fire pit and being stupid I grabbed for a stick that wasn't in the fire, but instead grabbed a red-hot end of a burnt stick. OUCH. I ran to the house and put my fingers in ice water. I could tell I burned it deeply (the finger-pad of my forefinger) the other was small burn on the side of my thumb. Then I thought about what I had seen about burns and honey, so I put honey in a measuring cup and dipped my fingers in that. It took the pain right away, but it came back again quickly. So I alternated for an hour and a half between the ice water and honey. The next morning the blisters were unbelievably small and did not hurt AT ALL. In fact the burn felt less deep than it had the night before. Just the surrounding skin looked a little dry. The one on the thumb was completely healed. I have no doubt the forefinger would have been semi-serious if I had not applied the honey. Today (2 days later) you can barely see the blister, as it is flush with the skin and the skin all around the burn looks completely normal again. In fact I can see my fingerprint! I first found this website looking for honey cures and found a wealth of other things too. I love this place!"

[YEA]  04/10/2006: Lucy from Blue Island, IL writes: "After burning, cool burn by running under cool water. Immediately thereafter, cover burn with honey. Keep burn covered until burning sensation eases. You may keep burn soaked in bowl of honey if easily accessible. I have healed even severe burns that have already blistered. By the next day, the blister will be gone and the skin above the blister will return to normal if the blister had not ruptured before using the honey. My whole family uses honey for burns."

A couple of hours later when he got off he reached out and grabbed the exhaust pipe to get off. We immediately poured Raw Unrefined Honey on it & wrapped it in a clean 'T' shirt. Took the pain away very fast & the next morning when we unwrapped it the hand was perfect. No sign of a burn at all!"

LAVENDER

1 YEA

[YEA]  03/18/2008: Doris from Murfreesboro, TN writes: "Lavender Shower Gel for burns. The best thing I've ever used for a burn is Lavender Gel. I had heard that Lavender oil was good for burns, but when I burned my hand all I had was a tube of the shower gel. I put it on my hand and the pain went away in a couple of minutes and the redness was gone the next day. This has happened several times and the Lavender Gel never fails. My husband, who was a skeptic, burned his hand but when he put the gel on he couldn't believe the immediate relief he got. He's now a believer."

LOCAL MEDICINAL OIL: MOW SUN MEDICAL OIL

1 YEA

[YEA]  05/19/2006: Tze Kang from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia writes: "This is one of the few traditional medical oils that I found in Malaysia that has very good healing power on minor burns like hot water, hot oven, fire burnt. It really surprised me when i first used it because you will not get swollen finger or hand with fluid inside if you apply on the surface immediately after the burn. Furthermore, the pain will disappear in less than 5 mins. And, your skin will not rip off however, when the skin totally recover it will just peel off naturally without any pain. Please be sure u apply it immediately after the burn, else the effectiveness will be lower."

11/10/2009: Mei from Penang, Malaysia replies: "Hello, I need to purchase this Mow Sun Medical Oil and would appreciate info on where I can buy this in Penang.
A telephone number would be very helpful.

Thank you,
Mei"

MILK OF MAGNESIA

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/21/2009: Jodi from Bowmansville, NY, USA writes: "My friend told me about Milk of Magnesia for burns. When her daughter was little she has rashes so bad on her bottom that she had to leave on the diaper quite often because of her acidity level in her urine. One day her mother was watching her and she told her mother to be very careful because of the rash. She left for a few hours and when she came home the rash was gone. She had applied Milk of Magnesia directly on her granddaughter and not long after the skin rash was gone.

My friend also told me about using it on burns, so I have tried it. My daughter and I have both burned our hands so I tried it and it worked. You need to soak it near an hour but it leaves no red marks and it feels better."

MUSTARD

6 YEA
1 NAY

[YEA]  02/24/2009: Tehani from Los Angeles, California writes: "My mother was bottling peaches from her garden and in the process, the glass jar slipped from her hand and the hot boiling water from the stove splattered on her left arm. She burned almost half of her arm, from the wrist to the elbow. She called me immediately and asked, if I know a good remedy for burns. She didn't have any medical insurance yet, and her burn needed medical attention. I told her, to use Frenche's yellow mustard, the classic yellow one that you put on hot dogs. I learned of this remedy living in Tennessee, when I burned my finger and a friend said to use mustard. I would assume you can use any mustard however, that's the one that she had in her refrigerator and it is also the one I used for my burn. I wasn't quite sure if it would work on her, since her burn was severe. So, she applied it and covered all the burn areas generously. Immediately the burning sensation had diminished. She just kept applying and reapplying and her burn healed fully within 3 and 1/2 weeks without a scar. I guess the scaring part depends on your skin type because I tend to scar easily. Just make sure the mustard is on the burn area until it's healed. The mustard will dry and flake off but just reapply more. At night, she would reapply several coats of fresh mustard and waits for it to dry. Then she used a white roll of sterile gauze that you can buy from any pharmacy, and wrapped it all around her burned arm, to prevent her bed from getting stained. Truly the yellow Mustard performed like a champion."
