[NAY] 07/16/2010: Janelle from Omaha, Nebraska, Us writes: "I got two ingrown hairs that I picked at and became infected within a day and turned into a boil. I searched this website for a cure and immediately tried the 1/4 tsp turmeric in water three times a day, it didn't seem to be working, though the pain had lessened a bit. It wasn't until I popped it squeezed it a few days later that it got better, though the turmeric did lessen the inflammation. I am still wondering if I had just left it alone would it have popped on its own? I don't think it would have despite all these claims that they do, what if its very under the surface?"

[YEA] 06/28/2010: Samantha from San Diego, Ca, Usa writes: "My 18 yr old daughter had these weird pimple like things in between her breasts and thighs. I've never seen anything like them and the DR said it was from sweating but they are like really big hard pimples with black heads at the top. GIANT! So she's been taking Turmeric internally 400 mg (3 times a day)that I bought in bulk and put in empty capsules. PLUS I bought a bottle of Almond Oil and I just dumped a bunch of Turmeric in it. She puts that on externally every other day. With in a couple days they were scabbed over and clearing and yesterday (1 week)they were healed and just fading away. NOTHING has ever worked that well and I'm not even sure what the heck she has but I figured it's in the boil, pimple something aisle (LOL). Turmeric also instantly faded my under eye darkness and two age spots on my face. I put the oil mixture on and then I spread some Turmeric on a bandaid and put it over the spots ALSO and go to bed. The only downside is Turmeric STAINS and my bathtub has yellow spots everywhere but we all know it's Turmeric so it doesn't bother us. LOL! Plus it works tooo well - small price to pay - a fair exchange isn't a robbery!"
06/28/2010: Rickeyjackson from Southwest, Az, Usa replies: "I concur about the forgiveness for tumeric's "footprint". I have remedied my stain problem a great deal by mixing the tumeric with antibiotic ointment and applying it with a cotton swab, then covering the area with gauze and the appropriate tape. I wipe with ACV after the treatment to remove most of the remnant to avoid further staining."

06/06/2010: Db7pdx from Portland, Or, Usa writes: "OK This is getting out of hand. Boils on butt, in butt-crack, occasionally "down under", situation amplified by the draining of energy affecting sense of well-being, mood, and mental state. Un-broken and growing they poison my bloodstream, give me fever & headache, and the added frustration of having to explain my mood somehow when friends glare at me as I appear self-concerned & uncaring, though I "look o.k.", or I "seem fine", yet I feel like true crap and cannot focus on anything because of feeling infected. I've had it. One hospital lancing, IV anti-biotics w/follow-up cost OVER $3000 !!! (un-insured)
They really only began last fall, 2009, (age 54 male), after a nice, extended, clear warm-hot summer. The weather switched up dramatically and almost instantly one week and that's when big #1 costly boil began rising. I remained mostly a passive witness until I felt on the verge of passing out, not as much from the intense pain but the inner infection in my bloodstream, fever, and dizzyness.
I now have one that has gotten almost that bad.I had squeezed it and probably forced poison back into my bloodstream. Borrowed some amoxil, taken it for days now, have caused it to finally break an opening, and gauzed it with neosporin & campho-phenique underneath to keep drawing it out. It has drained: wonderful, disgusting, relieving, putrid discharge. But I'm still not myself in many ways and I need more weaponry.
There hasn't been a week that's gone by in the past (aprox.) 9 months that another 1, or 2, haven't been wanting to rise up. I use medicated wipes constantly, apply the "triple-antibiotic" (neomyicin type) when one rises, under gauze if it shows signs of growth, bathe in epsom salt hot water, drink lots of fluids, try to eat fruits, veggies, get enough rest, and de-stress. After that any natural remedies all turn to a blur when you read stories, see "a hundred" different wonder-cures, herbs, juices, spices, teas, poultices, and so on.
I've scared my self with reading about intestinal diverting and resulting toxicity; imagined parasite infestations, and more.{At the most imaginaary point, I even wondered, since, due to situations, I've been celibate for over 3 years now, maybe my body is not used to expelling, shall we say, certain ingredients, that they are trying to find a way out after turning toxic internally! Now that's NUTS! No pun intended! :-) } ANY..WAY.... I THINK it's more likely a staph deal, and maybe MRSA as it is now recurring. The hair follicle thing would just be a random incident I believe.
So, to conclude, I am just about to step out and see if I can find any turmeric at 9pm Sunday aside from grocery spice shelf. Food-4-Less has bulk spice I believe,or ethnic sections, and are open 24hr.Yeah. I'm headed there. I'm writing all this now, I guess, to vent. (SIDENOTE: Be careful of "friends" who are there when they need something but are nowhere when you have something going amiss). And to record my results with the turmeric. So many reports are pretty convincing but I want personal experience and I will note it here as to how it works.
Thanks for reading and good luck."
06/09/2010: Merryanne from Orange City, Florida, Usa replies: "Ok the way I see it there is something you are eating, drinking, or washing with that is making your system sick,,,,1. check your foods and oils and do not eat any soy,,most prepard, boxed, baged foods have soy,,do not eat it,,checke your pets food also-no soy
2. checke for conola oil,,google 'what is canola oil made from' you do not want to eat it.
3. For about a week eat only fresh cooked vegtables with salt and olive oil, bread, fruit juice, fresh fruit, salads, with light oil dressing and herbs, and leamon juice,,,no meat, no animal products, no sodas, only juice, water, black coffee, unsweet tea. After one week your digestive system and blood should be better, if not I suggest you continue the diet for another week,,also eating a lot of garlic is good,,it is called the Russian antibiotic. Eat natural, healthy, quick fixes in food preperations will make you sick."

I have a 12 yr old son and he had what i thought a pimple on his back. he asked me to look at it and it did have the typical white head on it so i tried to squeeze the pimple and when i did so much pus and blood came out that i realized this was not a pimple. I felt around and under the pimple was about a one inch ball, looked on earth clinic and read about tumeric, i placed a tablespoon of tumeric in a shot glass and mixed with a little water (regular tap)to make a paste, applied it to the pimple and covered with a 2x2 bandaid by morning it had drained completely. I still did it for two more nights just in case, and it has not returned. Thank you Earthclinic."

[YEA] 04/15/2010: Vee Jay from Washington, D.c. writes: "Turmeric remedy for boils
I am taking a teaspoon of turmeric in warm water three times a day and getting very good results. Today is day four and the three boils have reduced in size by one-half. The largest one was the size of a 1/4 cup measuring cup.
My question is how exactly are the toxins eliminated from the body and how do I know that the toxins are not just going to another part of my body?"
04/15/2010: Rob from Manhattan, New York replies: "there is a study out of University of Michigan that shows that Turmeric's effectiveness may be due to it's ability to cause cells to line up in an orderly way making them more resistant to infection...
04/16/2010: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi Vee Jay,Toxins are eliminated through our urine, our bowels, our nose through mucus and out of our skin through sweat or skin outbreaks. You want to keep all of those clear and moving to help the body eliminate toxins and work to keep toxins out. That is not easy today considering the toxicity in our daily environment so it must be taken care of on a daily basis. Eat organic food or wild harvested, drink pure water, do not use chemicals for cleaning but rather natural cleansers, cut out processed food which often has many additives and preservatives and do work on your diet. And remember too, that our skin is the largest organ of our body! So, whatever you put on it- cleansers, soaps, etc. goes into our system as well. This is how you can keep the toxins from building up thereby leading to illness.
If you are not opposed you can also take colonics or enemas to help clear out old waste and toxic build-up which really helps the body and helps ease the liver's work too. You can take foods that help clear the liver so that your liver can be more effective in helping your body. The liver loves water with lemon, dandelion and anything bitter in nature. And Spring is liver's natural time to detoxify!
That's a beginning. I hope this info helps you. And yes, if you don't detoxify then toxins will go to other parts of our body causing other problems.
Take care,
Lisa"

I found your site and thought I would give turmeric a try. I went to the grocery store, bought some in the spice section and took my first dose in a bottle of water on my way home! I mixed a teaspoon with water 2 times that day and 1 time the next morning and after just 3 times I had absolutely no pain in the boil!!! It took about a total of 4 days for the boil to completely disappear. I was so amazed!! Glory to God for giving us nature to heal our bodies...if only the media and government would recognize it. Thank you for your site!"

[QUESTION] 03/02/2010: Swanner from Cumbria, Uk writes: "Hi
This isn't a Yea or Nay for Turmeric, more a question.
Many people say they have seen great results when taking Turmeric, but did it make the problem worse before making it better?
I ask because I am taking two 800mg capsules per day, I can't stomach the turmeric powder, I have tried various ways and it makes me sick, so I have to use the capsules.
But it seems to be bringing out more boils, I have two on my inner thigh, a huge on under my arm and one on my stomach.
I have been taking Turmeric for 3 weeks maybe a little longer.
I also take one garlic capsule a day.
My hub says maybe it works by bringing them all out first, but I haven't read that mentioned on here anywhere.
Please can anyone give me some advise :)
Thanks
S"
03/03/2010: Dj from Pdx, Or replies: "Swanner,
Check the lable for the potency of the product you are taking. Some have reported turmeric capsules that have fillers and aren't as potent. You want to find as potent as you can or get empty capsules and make your own.
Also putting a turmeric paste on the boils will help them heal sooner. But remember turmeric stains so use oversized band-aids and wear your grubbies to bed.
I hope you find some relief."
06/28/2010: Samantha from San Diego, Ca, Usa replies: "I recommend buying Turmeric in the spice section in bulk and then buying empty capsules (they have vegan ones really cheap) then PUTTING ON GLOVES BECAUSE TURMERIC STAINS and making capsules that way. I do that with Turmeric and Cayenne Pepper and take them with food or else you get a weird taste in your mouth. Those supplements could have ANYTHING in them. They aren't regulated and most of the review sites are just "pretending" to be reviews and actually promoting their supplement."

I added 1/2 t. tumeric powder to 4 oz. of hot water and drank it three times a day for two days. By the third morning I decided the boil was well on its way to dissappearing so I ended my "treatment" at that."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 02/12/2010: Angel from Birmingham, Uk writes: "I don't think I have got MRSA, well when I went to the doctor about my recurrent boils he didn't mention MRSA. But I tried turmeric for about 5 weeks, the dose I took was 1tsp twice daily in 1 glass of water. Some days I took only 1tsp and some lazy days I didn't take any turmeric. Nevertheless, I didn't get any large boils on my chest and back like I used to and I didn't get any on my face. I did stop the turmeric and the boils are coming back, but I will restart the turmeric, probably for a longer period. Im a 20 year old female and have been getting recurrent boils since I was 14!! I just wanted to ask one thing, will I have to take turmeric everyday for the rest of my life to prevent boils? Would 1tsp twice daily be too much? what doses would you recommend? thanks."

[QUESTION] 02/11/2010: Swanner from Cumbria, Uk writes: "Hi
After reading through your extremely informative site I decided it was time to post my first question.
I have been suffering from constant recurring boils for over 4 years now, mostly on my inner thighs but the odd one under my breast and I currently have one on my stomach. I am lucky if I am free from them for even a week.
After reading through your site I decided to purchase some Turmeric capsules from the health food shop. I have been taking them for only 5 days but have yet to see any results apart from a couple of the boils have burst. My question is for those of you that have used Turmeric for this purpose how long before you seen the boils stop recurring?
Many Thanks
Swan"
02/12/2010: Lita209 from Sanford, Fl, Usa replies: "Hi Swan! When I had my boils (from August last year) I tried everything I read on EC; turmeric, aloe, baking soda, etc. I wanted to let you know what really worked for me was the garlic. I think I started with garlic in December since the boils would always come back. I would break a garlic capsule and applied the oil on my boils(the smell is not so great)and also would take them internally. I also bought Hibiclens wash. When I started doing this is when I noticed a big difference. Today I only have the scars but I am boil free. I hope this helps you on your quest. Good health to you!!!"
02/12/2010: Swanner from Cumbria, Uk replies: "Hi Lita209
Thank you for sharing your story. I never thought of garlic, I will purchase soon asap and give it a try, I really hope it works as it is really getting me down. I have 4 large ones on my inner thigh at present. I don't know how the Turmeric is supposed to work, I thought maybe it is mean't to bring them all out initially, but I'm not at all sure. But it does appear to be making them worse :(I have been tested for MRSA and it's not that.
Best of health to you too
Swan"
02/19/2010: Francisco from Dallas, Texas replies: "Swan, hello, I hope that my input helps you some. I had a severe case of these boils and the way I cured it was as follows: I took for about 3 months, 4 to 8 capsules of turmeric, once in the morning, and once at nigh before bed. Also, I drank a large glass of organic-apple cider vinegar and water mix for about the same time, I sipped this glass of water with about three spoons of vinegar throughout the entire day. It has been almost three years since then, and I had one or two very small-pimple-like boils a few weeks ago, which went away rather easily. I learned this remedy in this wonderful site and I still so very grateful. I hope this helps you ... good luck!"

[YEA] 01/16/2010: Brian B. from Grand Rapids, Mi. writes: "I started to get the boils on my butt area last fall. After one would eventually get better another one would appear in a different spot. The doctor I went to suggested soaking twice a day in hot water to help soften it. Without a satisfactory solution I came across this website late one night about a week ago. I immediately went to a local grocery store and I was in luck, they carried turmeric. I have been taking it religiously 3x a day with yogurt and the results have been fantastic. At the time I had one boil at maturity and another close to it. Both have dissipated without much drainage and it looks like they're going to heal much better than the previous ones I had.
I've never used natural products to solve a medical condition before, but I have to say this one has definitely worked extremely well. I'm glad I found your website."

I had found this site by researching natural flea remedies for my new puppy about 2 months ago. And have since used it to help my family and I many times.
What I thought was an ingrown hair on the top hair line in the pubic area quickly developed into a boil in one day. I saw it on Friday morning Dec 19 and applied antibiotic salve,by that night it was so painful I could barely walk. I read the many tumeric remedies and went to buy some. I started taking it that night, 1 tsp mixed into hot chocolate. YUK! I didn't notice any relief but continued the drink twice a day. In the mean time I also tried the mixing tumeric with tea tree oil and applying topically. Nothing. I also ground up garlic and applied that on a bandage, OUCH!! Nothing. The pain had diminished a small amount, but no drainage. FINALLY on day 5 it burst open and I have some relief. It is still draining and very ugly, the pain has gone down drastically. I will continue to take the tumeric twice a day until it is gone!
It is so much better to take it either mixed in my coffee or in hot chocolate. It tastes terrible and the smell makes me nauseous but I don't stop. IT WORKS!! THANK YOU!!!!!!"

[YEA] 11/25/2009: Marie from Orlando, Fl writes: "I've always gotten boils (mostly on my thighs or near my bikini line) though they've never been painful and tend to go away on their own. However, last week I got a large and tender one underneath my armpit. I've always shaved my underarms without any sort of irritation, and have been using anti-perspirant for years. However, when it appeared, I was unable to shave OR use deoderant, which was uncomfortable. I used a hot compress approximately 5-7 times a day, soaked in an epsom salt bath, tried tea tree oil, used natural deoderant, and even stopped exercising for fear of sweat production making it worse. Then I came upon this site and saw that turmeric could be helpful. Interesting is what I thought. I use turmeric a lot as I enjoy curry and Indian foods. I decided to try a paste and applied it over the boil as I slept. I mixed about 1 tsp of turmeric powder with olive oil and honey to form a paste, spread it over the area, and layered with gauze. When I woke up, it shrunk approximately 50% in size and was no longer painful. While the boil is still there and it's still red and slightly tender, it was in no way as bad as it was yesterday. I'm definitely remembering this treatment and will continue to use it!"

I've been using oil of oregano on previous boils and it seemed to work ok, it did not cure the pain but it seemed to help them pop faster. But this, wow, all my pain has been reduced by a huge amount in a tiny amount of time.

[YEA] 11/07/2009: Martha from Neodesha, Kansas writes: "I have been battling a string of boils for about six weeks now and thanks to this website I found something that really works! I tried the tumeric and found it to be amazing, if only I had found it when the first boil reared its ugly head I most likely would have been over this much sooner. I am taking 1/2 teaspoon of tumeric mixed in 1/2 cup soy milk internally 3 times a day as well as using tumeric mixed with diaper rash cream containing (zinc and magnesium sulfate) which are both supposed to have healing properties. Something I found really helps relieve pain or itching is getting into the shower and spraying hot water (not so hot it burns the skin but as hot as I can stand)directly on the boils then alternating with cool water. If I have a boil that is draining I cover it first with a waterproof bandaid so as not to spread the infection. I am allergic to tape and bandaids so I remove it as soon as I get out of the shower and dress the boils using cotton rounds and clean white cloth such as cotton feed sack towels or diapers that can be purchased at dept. stores, laundered then cut to size. Something else one might consider since tumeric stains, if you wear dentures you might take them out while drinking the tumeric. I take mine out then drink the tumeric with a straw. If you do get tumeric on clothing it can usually be removed by soaking in a cleaner that contains oxygen. I had 8-10 boils on my backside and now none are open or oozing but I do have reddish purplish scars and varying sizes of lumps under the skin where the boils were. The lumps seem to be getting smaller though and hopefully will disappear in time. I am so thankful I found this website. My husband had a boil with numerous openings and ended up having surgery on it leaving him with a hole the size of a baseball in his backside. Too bad I didn't know about tumeric before it got so bad. I might add our boils do contain staph but not the resistant kind."
11/30/2009: Martha from Neodesha, Kansas replies: "This is an update to the turmeric notation made 11/07/09 - As of 11/30/09 I have continued to take tumeric and all lumps from previous boil episode have completely disappeared and scars have lightened with no further outbreaks! My husband developed a second dime sized boil which seemed to appear overnight and in a very unfavorable location. He began taking tumeric at once and I applied a paste of tumeric and triple antibiotic ointment covering it with a dressing which was most difficult to keep in place, a jock support was very helpful! It drained then sealed within 3-4 days at which time I switched to turmeric and diaper rash cream. Within 10 days I couldn't even see where it had been! Much better than the baseball size hole he ended up with from surgery on the previous boil! He says he will take the tumeric over surgery any ole day!"

I've come to this website for other issues so I decided to see if there was anything about boils...and of course there was! Thank you sooooooo much! I've had the boil for at least one week, but it started getting more irritating within the last few days. I took a hot, hot bath Sunday evening thinking that the heat and moisture would loosen the puss and eventually begin to drain. It helped, but not much. Only a tiny bit of puss came out and after a few hours it was painful again. I tried the 1 tsp of turmeric in a half glass of warm water last night around 10pm. I woke up to go to the restroom around 4:45am and my gown was wet in the spot where the boil was. It was disgusting, but it was AWESOME all at the same time! Remember, I've had it for at least one week and it was getting bigger so all the puss didn't come out at once but it is so less painful!!! I'm at work and I've been feeling it oozing for the last 30 minutes or so. I'm also on my second glass of the mixture. THANK YOU GUYS SOOOOOO MUCH! HOW DO I SPELL RELIEF? TURMURIC!! :)"

Tried to lance the one on my face. It would drain then become painful again. I tried ice (has worked to reduce swelling in the past and bring it to a head), tea tree, lavander, alcohol, bentonite clay etc etc. Found turmeric on EC and immediately tried it. I had to adjust a couple of times because it seems to make me light headed (not bad, but different) and stomach upset. This is what I ended up with and continue to drink 1-2x daily. Each time I drink, it causes boils to tingle. They are not completely gone but are in the process of disappearing daily.
2 cups water
1 tsp. turmeric (bulk organic from health food store)
pinch powdered ginger
pinch cinnamon
3 cardamom pods
1 tsp. coconut oil
Heat until steaming. Add 2 Tbs. half and half and 1 tsp. honey.
I am a big tea drinker and this is not bad at all but I cannot do more than a couple of cups a day as I stated light headed and weakens stomach. I am going to try and continue this through winter to see if it also helps with arthritic symptoms."

Then on the left side near my hairline there was a lump that would fill then go away, but would never drain until a3 months ago it just started to get bigger and bigger and more and more painful.I then decided I needed to turn to hollistic healing and found this site and read about turmeric. I have been taking it since july 28 and I was hoping it would help me with this problem. I drink it in my water 2 teaspoons in a half cup. I soon as I drank it I could feels sharp tingling where ever there was a cyst. Some filled and drained, others just went away. The big seemed to just get bigger .Then on august 16 after continuing with drinking it and putting a salve I made with the turmeric with milk. It drained on its own and is still draining, the pain is gone and I can move my neck again, there is no more pus, just a liquid the color of the turmeric. I encourage any one who suffers from these to try turmeric and do it faithfully for while, even if you think it is not working, give it a chance you will be amazed like I am."

I took 1 tablespoon of tumeric three times a day and notice that it did not get as bad as the first one. After two days the boil came to a head. I soaked myself in a hot bath for about 30 minutes and the boil drained. it healed shortly after. I think putting a band aid on the first one caused further infection so on the second one i did not put a band aid on it."

I have tried boil ease, the stinky black tar stuff, hot bathes, heating pads, etc with no relief. Last night as I was literally crying from the intense pain I found your site. I immediately hobbled to my local gorcery and bought 2 actually! I came home and drank it at 9am. I was off to work and praying to whatever God would listen that I would make it through the shift. By 1:30 I felt a relief I cannot begin to explain:) I forgot to mention I also very carefully made a paste and applied directly to the boil at around 11AM. (not the least worried about the yellow stain!!!) I am a believer and am so thankful to be feeling better. I plan to get the supplements and will now be a faithful follower of this magic herb!! For any of you thinking about this method-DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!"

[YEA] 07/24/2009: Taffy from Phillipsburg, NJ writes: "Thank you, thank you, thank you. Yesterday I awoke to a boil that literally grew over night, it was the size of a golf ball, and in my groin. It was so painful to sit, stand, and walk.I suffer with boils ( boils) continuosly, and have an antibiotic from my doc, on hand at all times.Yesterday was worse then ever, I could hardly breath with the pain. I called my pharmacist, and asked him if there was anything he could recommend to draw the boil, he said there was an ointment called ___, but they didn't carry it, so I called around to every pharmacy in my area, noone had it, but they could order it.Mind you "I NEED IT, LIKE NOW" So I decided to use the black salve, all day, the pain was there, and then I'm worrying of breaking of the skin and infection, as I am a diabetic. Then I decided to look on line, which brought me to your web site. Hallalluja, I thought what the heck, anythings worth the try, not to have this God awful pain, so I did the 1 tsp of turmeric to warm water, I can honestly say I still had the pain, but literally felt it easing approx a hour after taking the mixture. This morning I woke with almost no pain at all. I am so grateful. Anyone out there, that's suffering, hear this Turmeric and warm water, it WORKS. Thanks"
