Cold Shower Benefits: Ancient Rituals and Modern Health Boosts

Migraines

I first started taking cold showers as a suggested remedy for migraines. It more than worked. It also helped alleviate skin breakouts, regular muscle cramping, and some blood pressure issues (I changed nothing else in diet or exercise to be sure this was what was having the effects) I find it's best to start barely warm and slowly get to cold. If you can't stand ice cold at first just go "on the cool side" till you get a tolerance. You don't have to *freeze* to get the benefits. Also I find cold baths do *not* have the same therapeutic effect as cold showers (anyone else?)

It definitely helps with cold weather. I've been taking cold showers for 5 years now (I'm 27) and it is rare that I have more than a short sleeve shirt under my jacket during the winter. People say that I'm crazy and that I'm going to catch a cold but the last time I had a cold was 6 years ago. To be honest, I'm a little scared of my addiction to cold showers. It is my morning "coffee" and it gives me the energy throughout the day. Now -I'm very resistant to cold weather but I became more sensitive to warmer temperatures. I often find myself in a room with others wearing 2 or 3 layers; I'm wearing a shirt and I'm hot. Not to mention what girls tell me: "your body is on fire" or "you're burning" ..:) I actually decided to do a google on "cold showers" to see if there is any harm, and that's how I found this place ps: yes...it does help with weight loss. Combine that with some exercise and you'll have a beautiful toned body.

If you get a flexible shower head with a long extension you can spray the shower walls before and after you turn the water to cold and it helps to get used to it. I just started and am hoping to not have as many colds this year.

I have sinusitis and used to sneeze frequently. I had been having cold shower since the last four weeks. It was hard the first time, but never so subsequently. My sneezing has significantly reduced.

I just wanted to share with all of you that I started taking ice cold showers out of necessity. During my pregnancies I've always had problems with circulation in my legs, bloating, soreness, etc. Well, where I live at the moment I can't find any support hose and I heard that cold showers were good for improving circulation. Well, I cannot begin to explain the benefits, "good" just doesn't cut it. Before the showers, I couldn't be on my feet for long during these hot summer days and the pain was unbearable. Now, after my ice cold shower in the morning, I'm on my feet all day and have absolutely no problem. Never felt better. I do take a catnap, but that's normal when you're preggo!

Definitely try the cold shower along with the cold bath to lower blood pressure. My wife knows this Russian secret for youth and longevity. This is it. I am more vigorous, awake, and relaxed after a cold shower or cold bath. Also, try the cold warm rotation method. Sit in the cold bath for a few minutes (yes, submerge your head for a few seconds) and then have the shower fairly warm and do this several times. WOW!!

Recently I have just started taking cold showers. Now after 3 months, my mood and health feel incredible! I'm addicted to cold showers, they feel so refreshing and relaxing, it feels like i'm under a waterfall. Before I started taking cold showers, I used to suffer from fatigue and after the first cold shower my mood and health feel 100%.

My friend Calvin told me about cold showers a few weeks ago. I thought "out of his mind!!!" Though as the weeks progressed he kept exclaiming how great they are, so today I tried a cold shower. Cold showers are totally awesome. The best part is when the body adjusts to the temperature of the cold water and once that happens, it's a totally enjoyable experience. Once you finish the cold shower, no matter how cold the bathroom is, you will forever appreciate the temperature of the room. It's the warm tingly feeling of your body adjusting to the room's temperature, which also feels good too! After having a hot shower, the bathroom always feels so cold, now it's the opposite and it totally rocks!

I have been taking cold showers for about five years now. I can't imagine starting my day without it. All my friends think I'm nuts, but I feel revitalised and everyone always comments on the sheen on my hair. (I'm not sure if this is related or not). However, I love it and thoroughly recommend it to everyone.

Taking a cold shower was recommended to me by a friend and I forgot about it until 2 days later. The idea came to me and I figured it was worth a try. After my first cold shower, the feeling was incredible! Very invigorating! It seemed to give me more energy and I noticed how much it was helping my skin. After the second day of taking a cold shower, I told my roommate that I was convinced that one of the secrets to success is to take cold showers!!! I explained to him that the effects of taking a cold shower last the whole day where a hot shower lasts for a half hour and makes me a little drowsy. He continued to laugh at me but that invigorating feeling still came after each cold shower. I get so much more out of a cold shower than a hot one. That's the bottom line. Its great to hear that so many other people benefit from cold showers too. Its been 5 days and I'm hooked!!

My family and I like to visit the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, a National Park in Missouri yearly. In this park are some rivers, the Black, Current, Jacks Fork to name a few. These rivers are fed by natural springs along their courses which makes the water 59 degrees year round. It is so invigorating to swim in this water although it takes a while to get used to it! I always have felt that this water invigorated me; I just couldn't and can't get enough of it! After reading your web site, I will try the cold showers here at home and hope that I will have the same feeling that the Current River gives me. Thanks for the information.
