I was quite fascinated when I read about oil pulling and decided to try it out for my migraine. I could not find sesame or sunflower so made do with VCO and Safflower oil. 1 tablespoon every morning. It worked the first time I tried it! No migraine. It also helped to ease my achy jaw, which was a result of clenching my molars for long periods, to bear wit the migraine. I sleep better too! Will continue this for as long as I can!

Oil pulling is supposed to cure anything from angina to warts. While I can't say I've noticed any great bodily "health" benefit from oil pulling, my teeth are sparkling.

I'm a smoker and I have several crowns and an inlaid bridge, and these types of porcelain teeth do not respond to typical whitening methods at all.

The first time I tried oil pulling, I could actually see the difference after one 10-minute session and folks have commented on how much whiter my teeth look. In a week I noticed improved gum color. At my last dental check, my dentist wanted to know what toothpaste I was using, because I barely had any tartar (needless to say, he was incredulous when I said I had stopped flossing, which I have never been good at anyway). He also commented that my gums not only looked great, but had actually improved.

I simply can't stand the taste of sesame, so I mix it with either safflower, sunflower, or flavored olive oil. Teeth are then brushed with a good castille soap (soaps made with oils rather than animal fats) which does NOT taste soapy, by the way, then rinse with a little salt water. I am brushing my teeth only slightly more than normal -- twice a day for two minutes after oil pulling, and then a quick scrub with toothpaste just before I go to bed.

Other folks I know who have tried oil pulling have also remarked about the improved appearance of their teeth as well as improved oral health.

Oh....just make sure you don't spit your (now somewhat hydrogenated)oil down the sink drain or toilet or you'll be calling in the plumber or septic guy. And be careful NOT to swallow!

I was fortunate to find out about Dr Karach's oil pulling therapy over 16 years ago, and my objective was to improve my immune system, as a preventative. And it certainly has done so, for example, the number of colds has gone down a lot. Plus, my digestion has improved very much. Also, I can go on for more hours without feeling the need to eat.

I mostly use sesame oil, peanut oil, and sunflower oil: Once per day, one table spoon in the morning, before breakfast, 5-7 days a week. I have found that it's very important to rinse the oral cavity and tonge with baking soda/salt in warm water, and brush all of the same area - including the tongue, after applying just a little baking soda and salt on the toothbrush.

Basically, my opinion is that oil pulling is one of the very best ways to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities, and that includes detoxification. 15-20 minutes in the morning of oil pulling regularly, while taking a shower or shaving or ... - is one of the wisest things we could to, healthwise.

I learned about OP from a nurse at my VA. I thought about it and searched the internet for info.
The reason I used it was to remove the bacteria and poisonous toxins I was sure were under my teeth. I also have diabetes and that causes teeth problems. When I started I was in pain from an exposed nerve.

I used 1T seaseme oil and 1T sunflower oil combined w 5 drops black walnut, 5 drops pepperment and 6 drops cinnamon oils. The peppermint for pain and the cinnamon for the antibacterial. Note: oregano as far as I know is an anti-fungal, not an anti-bacterial.
Regardless I swished my mix for 15 min, keep in mind I was in pain at the time. The first effect I noted, there was no pain even when I drew cold air through the area of my mouth. I could eat hot or cold food w no pain. Needless to say I am hooked for life. Teeth that were rising and becoming loose over the next week returned to near normal and tight in the gum. I don't know about the rest of my ailments. My teeth are much better.

A side obsevation I would like to mention is directed to the lady in India who tried OP for her wrist and arm metacarpule. I had metacarpule and the thing I knew that allowed me to over come it is this. The nevre when damaged will swell in its pathway and this is what causes pain when the joint is moved. Nerves continue to swell if they continue to bump bone which causes more pain. The wrist has a very small passage for its nerves. The swelling that causes the pain is closer to the thumb than the elbow (I mean the swell is trapped). The nerve for the thumb and forefinger extends thru the arm up to the armpit. To releive the pain from my wrist I reach up on a door frame as high as I could. Held on to the frame and dropped my body slowly down streaching my arm until it was fully extended way over my head. At first fire was running up my arm but when I reached full extention of my arm I felt a pop in my wrist and all pain vanished. Now I stretch to insure it doesn't happen again.

I hope this can help someone. It worked for me.

I started oil pulling 4 days ago and immediately noticed some differences. First I tried Safflower and I slept better then I had in years and my gums did not bleed at all when I flossed that night. Also I am noticing my teeth are whiter and that food I eat after OP tastes better. I don't get food bad breath (after you) anymore. My sister noticed her dark circles under her eyes is gone after only 3 days. We are both using Sunflower oil and Safflower but only when I have the time to get a lot of sleep.

I have been oil pulling for 2 months 1 to 2 times daily. I have noticed several benefits: Immediately my gums stopped bleeding when flossed. My teeth felt more firmly seated in my gums.. and they are whiter. After a month, my skin on my neck and chest improved in smoothness and elasticity (chicken bumps gone). I have a few moles on my body that are shrinking! My elbows are so smooth. Improved morning breath odor. Cravings for caffeine diminished. Improved joint mobility. I had a fingernail that I had mashed in a car door 25 years ago that never fully grew back and it is almost fully reattached! Dandruff is gone after 2 months of regular OP. I use a variety of oils and switch between Virgin Coconut Oil, Cold-pressed Sesame Oil, Olive Oil, and Flax Oil.I can't wait to see further improvements on my body. Keep OP. You're worth it!

Oh MY GOD!! oh my god.. all i can say is wow!! i read about oil pulling this morning went out and got Sunflower and Safflower oil, i've done 2 sessions with the oil pulling, i must say that it did not get as foamy and white as i thought it would. it was still somewhat yellow. but my teeth are SO MUCH WHITER!! only after 2 sessions!! i have a persistant cough that never goes away no matter what i've used, and i've noticed that after each session, i'm coughing a lot more. i feel almost like a heavyness in my chest but when i do cough, i feel like i'm loosening up whatever it is that has been in my lungs that kept me with that cough. it has a funny kind of taste when i cough. i don't smoke either, well i did when i was 19 but that only lasted about 6 months (me trying to be cool) and i'm going to be 25 next month. i was really only trying it for my teeth, but now i'm going to keep doing it in hopes of clearing up my lungs and removing varicose veins. i have 2 kids now and pregnant with my 3rd so they have been a big problem for me. I will be a regular on this site i can say that much for sure, so i will keep you posted!

... I've also experimented with the baking sode for cleaning my face which I liked very much. And the oil pulling, that was weird. When I first woke I tried sesame oil for about 3 minutes before spitting it out. Went back to bed and slept very soundly for another 2 hrs then did it again. Got a bad headache and slept for another 2 hrs then did it again with olive oil. Have been headachey and sleepy ever since, and now my ears are popping and my chest feels heavy. Hope this goes away quickly but I guess it means somethings happening.

I have been oil pulling for a few weeks. The main thing I noticed is the improvement of my skin. But there were two other issues that lead me to try this. One of which is recurring yeast infections and UTI's. And, I must say these two things are doing great. But I have one more issue that I want to know about. Somewhere in this voluminous feedback, I remember reading that some things will get worse before they get better. I was wondering if this was the case with my sinuses. I have had chronic sinus problems. After a week of OP, I felt like I was coming down with a cold. Scratchy throat, lots of drainage down my throat. However I never felt achy or run down. I am still experiencing the scratchy throat occasionally, and my nasal congestion has run a very typical pattern of getting worse, then starting to improve. But all the while, there has been no sinus pressure. And at one point I got a very dark and sticky discharge from my nose (maybe something that has been there for a long time?). What do you think Ted. Oh and I have been pulling with refined sesame oil in the AM, and sunflower oil in the PM.

started oil pulling 20 dec 07. have used olive, safflower, hemp, sesame, oils. also i have had others try the pull also. so far noticed from safflower are teeth got white, gums felt firmer, sinus's cleared, allergies diminished. from hemp i got sleepy. others that tried olive it immediately raised their mood levels and depression. gout pain eased with only one olive oil pull. i also add a couple of drops of peppermint in the tablespoon to kill the germs and open the sinus's too. sesame did not get any immediate results maybe because it is toasted . all in all everyone i have told that used it have been very happy with the results. only problem is trying to explain to them how it works. so i tell them that it works like oil in an auto engine that catches dirt and when you change the oil the dirt comes out. my nephew that is a plumber in oregon relayed that to me when i was trying to tell him to do the pull he automatically understood how the process could work. in his profession he stated that plumbers work with oil and water all of the time. smart nephew i have.

oil pulling cleared my sinus's on first pull.started 12-20-07 it also cleaned the teeth, stopped me from catching a cold, seemed to tighten a loose tooth i had. i was using safflower at that time. i tried olive oil and referred that to 3 of my clients they all reported a mood improvement on the first pull. i tried hemp oil it made me go to sleep. sesame oil i tried it seemed to draw the most toxins into it. to increase the odds for good outcomes i drop about 3 drops of peppermint oil on the tablespoon then fill the rest with the oil. tomorrow i will try the safflower with oregano with oregano being about 2 drops since it is so potent. to get people to do this i had to figure out a way to explain to them how it works and while telling my nephew who is a plumber he finally explained to me how that pulling process works. he said in his trade they deal with oils and waters all day long. he said whenever oil is around it attracts dirt, grime, water, and anything in its path. so when you put it in the mouth it attracts and collects dirt and grime that floats through the body. my reasoning was like an auto engine that uses oil to filter the car engine and other parts of it. but i tend to like my nephews description best about oil absorbs anything in its path.

I've been oil pulling for about a month now. I use Sunflower and Sesame Oil. I like the Sesame (Not toasted) better, but i'm all out so Sunflower it is! My teeth are whiter, my energy is up and my head seems more clear than usual. If you haven't tried this, do.

I had immediate relief from a tooth injury from a bad dentist. I can't really explain how it works, but I also sleep better, too. I used extra virgin olive oil first and then sesame seed oil. When I first did it, the tooth pain stopped. I had a terrible taste of metal in my mouth which is one of the reasons I really knew this was pulling toxins out. I also fell very weak and run down for the first two days and then very energetic! I believe it is very helpful and don't know why I did not hear of this sooner as I am very much into the alternative health. Thank you for posting about this!

I started oil pulling almost 4 weeks ago, I started seeing results of hair softening, teeth and gum health improving, but I after 2 days of the pulling my lungs started filling with mucus and turned into full blown bronchitus, this has gone on for 3 1/2 weeks now and finally I stopped the pulling, the mucus seems less. I started with coconut oil, switched to sesame and then to sunflower (which seemed to be the worst) as far as mucus escalation. The mucus never turned green but it continued to get worse and I was so lethargic I had to stop the pulling. Any advise? I liked the other benefits and my husband is having success.
