HI, I am also looking where I can get unsulphured blackstrap molasses.

Dear all,

I was born in that part of Kenya where sugar cane is the main cash crop. There are several sugar mills in the region producing white sugar (including refined sugar). Also a number of jaggeries. Surprisingly, I have known malasses as a useless waste from sugar production. In fact it is only used by local people who brew local spirits (known as Changa'aa or Waragi, and a host of other names such as 'Kill-me-quick) in un-controlled manner. The brew is therefore illicit and many people have been jailed for brewing and selling it. Molasses is mainly peddled to villagers but I need to research the method of obtaining it from factories. I have found out that this by-product is not a useless waste, but is a goldmine in the waste.

Hi Knyck... You can buy organic blackstrap molasses from Healthy Options -- a supplement and healthy food shop -- in SM Mall of Asia in Manila.

If sugar cane is used to make sugar there, then you can find it, but it may go by another name. It is the third boiling of the cane juice, and the left over after the sugar is made, that is why it is very concentrated with minerals. Good hunting.

Although I'm not sure, I think this brand of molasses, the only one made in Spain, is made from the first boil and is not blackstrap, which means that is made from the third boil of the sugar cane and though it has a high content of minerals but less sugar on it.

The only blackstrap that I found in Girona is from Biospirit, and is imported from Holland. I'm not sure if I can tell you the brand in this site but if you cannot find it I can tell you by mail.

do you mean to say that BSM is the same as roo? meaning if you drink a glass of roo juice everyday it would give same effect??

because the BSM I see on different websites is thick and dark in colour, whereas roo is more liquid and not that dark...?

The molases is made by boiling that sugarcane juice. That juice is boiled then put through centrifugal machinery to extract the sugar crystals from the liquid

Hi, I noticed that most people on this site do not know where to get molasses. Well molasses is found mostly in countries that grows sugar cane for sugar. Jamaica in the caribbean where i come from has molasses in wasted amounts. You could probably ask a friend/tourist or any one you know that comes to jamaica for vacation etc to get it for you. That's the best i can suggest.

In Melbourne you can buy Melrose brand Organic blackstrap molasses which is unsulphured. They are in short supply at the moment but ask at your local health food store.

I bought mine recently both at Woolworths & local Health Food shop (15/08/2015). Woolworths has the Capilano Brand Pure & Natural, on the same shelf as Treacle next to the baking items.

Health food store you can buy The Melrose Brand (Organic) in jar or store brand in 1kg tub.

It is very popular may be that's why you have trouble finding it, when you do buy a few jars It keeps very well in the pantry.

If you are in Mumbai it will be hard to find Black Strap Mollasses. If you can visit any Sugarcane crusher or small farmers in Rural areas where they crush sugarcane to make jaggary you can easily get it. It's last residue of the process of making jaggery. Hope it helps.
