Yesterday I had several hours of strange, quite intense pain in my abdomen, around the gallbladder. I decided to try Ted's lemon and baking soda alkalizing formula. Within 10 minutes the pain was down 50%. Within an hour it had all but disappeared. I am guessing this was perhaps a gall bladder attack. That was the fastest response I have seen yet with a home remedy. No wonder Ted considers this one to be the best of all the alkalizing formulas... AWESOME! Thanks, Ted

Sodium "tightens", potassium and magnesium "loosen". If your bp is going up, you may have too much sodium in proportion to potassium and/or magnesium in your system. Try supplementing, especially with magnesium, which is a classic bp regulator.

Baking Soda

Hey there, I have actually been doing this myself here lately. I haven't had any issues, I add a couple of pinch's to each glass of water. I can't say yet whether I have noticed anything but I do know when I add a little to much. So usually I'll add a little more water and then my next glass would be straight water. Usually 3-4 times a day.

Honey, Lemon, Cinnamon, Baking Soda

★★★★★

Honey, lemon (lime), cinnamon and baking soda

2 x per day

1 (very big possibly 0,5 liter) glass,

add half a small teaspoon (not too much) cinnamon and stir with 1 cm water ( to prevent lumps),

add 2 cm honey, again stir well,

add half a tea spoon sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)

add slowly to control and end fizzling of the baking soda, 2/3 cm lemon juice and again stir, if you are on a low carb high fat diet 1 cm is better,

fill up with cold water (never hot or hotter than 40C to protect honey ingredients),

drink half of the glass first thing in the morning and other half just before sleeping, Cheers!

Baking Soda, Citric Acid Formula

I want to know how much baking soda and citric acid I have to take. My weight is 110kg.

At what moment do you preconize to take these citrates ? Is it possible to have an e-mail from a person who has used the citrates successfully ? Thank you for your answers, Andre.

Lime Formula

Hi Ted,

I have started taking 1/2 fresh organic lime with one tsp of bicarb soda on an empty stomach in the morning yesterday and today to alkalise. My urinary ph went up immediately so it definitely worked. Thank you!

What confuses me is that it seems to really aggravate my vaginal thrush. On both days of taking the remedy in the morning I immediately felt itching, burning and vaginal discharge.

I have specifically not used the ACV as I heard it can be bad for thrush. Any ideas on why this happened?

I am low on magnesium and potassium (supplementing both at the moment).

I also suffer from irregular periods after coming off the pill after 16 years. We are trying to have a baby and so far nothing has really worked.

I have done Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture every week for the last 1.5 years and a few months ago the thrush came and I can't seem to get it away with anything. I started using the borax and it seemed to help immediately until I tried the lime and bicarb soda thing...

Please advise.

Thank you, Judy

Ted's Carbicarb Formula
Posted by Pone (California) on 07/04/2014

Ted's book PH Balanced for Life includes an alkalizing formula named "Carbicarb" that is:

  • 1/2 tsp sodium bicarb
  • 1/4 tsp sodium carbonate
  • 1/8 tsp potassium carbonate

Does anyone know of a food grade source for the two carbonates? I have read that these are both very irritating to human tissues, so I have a concern is this formula even safe?

Is there an alternative alkalizing formula that will cross the blood brain barrier and alkalize brain tissues?

I stopped taking since I could not tolerate the taste plus the immediate rush to the bathroom. I drink lemon water alone which raises the ph as well. I juice daily and changed my diet and is now vegan. I cut off the crappy foods which I thouhgt I could not have lived without but was robbing me of my health. I eat mostly alkaline foods, take a wash out(purge in diarrahoe form) and enemas. I am determined to get my health back. The power is in our hands and what we put in our mouths. Repeat positive thoughts like my body is the temple of God every time u think of putting some crap in your mouth. It is hard, but it can be done. Many others have done it and is doing it. Alex, for mercury toxicity, look into Andy Cutler protocol. Also, be cautious with chlorella and mostly cilantro. This stuff is so powerful at mobilizing mercury, many people experienced adverse side effects, re-toxifying themselves... I did a lot for mercury toxicity: 5 brands of zeolites, chlorella, cilantro, glutathione supplements, none-scheduled ALA, modified citrus pectin, etc. And nothing helped as much as Cutler protocol... Safer too. Sweating also helped a great deal, making my own NEAR infra red sauna. Good luck!

Here is a study that was done saying that Vitamin C will alleviate mercury toxicity but that Iron will exacerbate it. So if you eat a diet high in red meat you may want to rethink it.

Title: Interactions of vitamin C with lead and mercury.

Author: Hill CH

Source: Ann N Y Acad Sci, 355():262-6 1980

Abstract
Ascorbic acid has been found to interact with several elements in such a manner as to render them less available for animals. This property of the vitamin has a negative effect on the animals fed a copper-deficient diet, but a positive effect on those fed toxic levels of copper, selenium, vanadium, and cobalt. The effect of ascorbic acid in alleviating cadmium toxicity has been attributed to the effect of the vitamin on iron metabolism, since ferrous iron will also alleviate cadmium toxicity in the Japanese quail. The results of studies reported here indicate that iron will alleviate lead toxicity but ascorbic acid is ineffective. Ascorbic acid will alleviate mercury toxicity, but iron exacerbates this condition. For these two elements, the effects of iron and ascorbic acid are independent of each other.

Hi Gilbertmom... You should be both testing your urine and saliva for a healthy pH of between 6. 5 or 7. This will reveal the acid/alkaline levels of you blood and internal cell environment respectively. Both need to be addressed for an healthy alkaline body state. I take Ted's lemon/lime remedy to alkalize the cells (you can also take his ACV remedy for this if you want to) and I also alkalize my blood everyday with just the Baking Soda and water remedy. People never seem to bother with the Baking Soda and water remedy but, to tell you the truth, I actually use this one the most. This remedy is highly useful for helping digestion and digestive problems, helping to raise energy levels and also for improving intestinal health as well as for alkalizing the blood. And as mentioned already, you will need to alkalize both your blood and your cells with these two remedies in order to achieve a properly alkaline body state and you will also need to monitor your urine and saliva to achieve a proper healthy pH level.

From EC, here is what Ted says about alkalizing when pregnant:

"Most pregnancy can cause extreme acidosis which results in constipation, as a result of the growing baby as it produces a lot of toxic wastes to the mother. There are actually two kinds of acidosis, one where the body is generally acid, and another one where the intracellularly cells are acidic, which is often referred to as lactic acidosis. Usually apple cider vinegar and baking soda is best with lactic acidosis, while lemon and baking soda remedy helps stabilize the urinary pH. Ideally measuring urinary pH around 6. 5 - 7. 5, where 7. 0 I think will cause the least of the problems. Nausea and dizziness can sometime be helped with a drop of peppermint oil, while magnesium usually reduces cramps.

"The constipation, using baking soda and sea salt is taken on an empty stomach. Apparently you were eating food. The body is already in acid condition with more food, will obviously cause the body to vomit to get rid of excess acid, in a desperate act. Electrolytes may help in such instance, after vomiting to normalize the body's electrolytes."

Also, you should be measuring your pH levels before meals (not after) because after eating meals, and for a short time afterwards, makes the body more acid due to the effects of digestion. Similarly, you should also not monitor your pH levels directly after vigorous excercise -- because vigorous excercise tends to raise lactic acid levels in the body for a short time afterwards and will give an inaccurate acidic reading.

If you still get a high alkaline reading while taking both the above alkalizing remedies in the correct way then this could indicate an alkalosis problem and you should get this problem checked out with a doctor.

Hi Bill,

My question is: My saliva reading is showing an alkaline state, in the morning, afternoon and night, while my urine is acidic. I have started with the lemon alkalizing formula since yesterday. No change in the urine pH level yet. Wondering how long does it normally take for the change to happen? I have increased water intake to about 2 liters a day. Also, I'm not entirely sure if I am doing the formula right....Recipe says, squeeze one lemon (I am using 1/2 since the lemons here are really big) and add BS bit by bit till fizzing stops. I'm confused, should I keep adding the BS till the fizz stops, or should I add the BS and wait for the fizz to stop after which I add the water. Is there a video available for the method? Would really appreciate if you can give precise instructions. Dont wanna do this the wrong way..... Thanks a ton!

Hi Cindy... Regarding your constipation issues with salt, if you are using processed salt then switch to using Natural Sea Salt with your cooking and at mealtimes. Processed salt is pure Sodium Choride which usually contains a hydrophobic additive -- usually Aluminium Hydroxide -- which is added to keep salt dry so you can shake it out. Aluminium is also bad for your body. Change to natural sea salt -- contains no additives -- and which will get damp because natural sea salt is hydrophillic(attracts water), so I just sprinkle it on my the food with my fingers. The Aluminium Hydroxide in your processed salt is what is causing your constipation problem -- the Aluminium Hydroxide drives water out of the intestine. Sea salt is much more alkaline and will do the opposite -- drawing water into the intestine, making your stools softer. Sea salt also naturally contains other minerals like Magnesium and Potassium which are also beneficial.

See this link for the yeast remedies that Ted from Bangkok recommends.

Killing the Yeast

* Ted from Bangkok recommends using B Complex everyday to get rid of the yeast. If and when the yeast goes then reduce supplementing to once every 3 days.

* Borax. Add 1/8 tspn of Borax (20 Mule Team Borax is fine to use) in a liter of water and drink this throughout the day. Do this for 4 days a week only. Borax is the ultimate fungal killer. Or you can simply buy Boron supplements at the health store and take the recommended dose but this will be more expensive (Boron supplements all use Borax or Sodium Tetraborate anyway).

* Topically, you can also use boric acid, hydrogen peroxide, Iodine or ACV etc as douches or suppositories. See this link here.

Addressing the Root Causes

Although the above remedies will get rid of the yeast, there is absolutely no gaurantee that it wont come back. The main root causes of yeast are excess heavy metals, excess body calcium(acidity), fluoride/bromide poisoning(acidity), medicinal drugs(especially antibiotics, anti-depressants), bad diet and poor immune system:

* Supplement with Magnesium Chloride, Mag Citrate or Mag Gluconate -- 250 mgs twice a day. This will help remove excess calcium form your body. Excess calcium encourages body acidity and encourages yeast infections. Magnesium helps support your imune system as well.

* Alkalize with Ted's lemon/lime remedy. One whole lemon or lime squeezed into a half glass of water. Then add 1/4-1/2 tspn Baking Soda(Arm and Hammer brand is fine) until the fizzing stops. Take this twice a day. This will also help remove any excess calcium in your body.

* Two drops of 5% Lugol's Iodine per day. Removes fluoride/bromide from the body. Iodine will also help to support and beef up the immune system.

* Eat salads containing cilantro leaf three times a week and drink green tea every day. This regimen will get rid of the heavy metals from the body in about a month.

* Take Fulvic/Humic acid in water daily. This will help remove and neutralize any other poisons in your body from food preservatives, pesticides etc.

* Diet. Avoid excess sugar, carbohydrates and avoid dairy - no milk, yoghurt, cheese etc. Try to avoid all processed food.

Hi Celou... Whenever people think of salt, people always think of sodium as the culprit. This is incorrect. Salt is Sodium Chloride(NaCl) and this molecule has entirely different properties to something like Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda). For the full explanation of the benefits sodium in relation to salt and alkalizing, see Ted's full description at this link:

Sodium and High Blood Pressure

This link explains the differences in effects between salt and the bicarb remedies from actual research results.

Your body needs salt. The main essential body electrolytes are Sodium, Calcium, Potassium and Magnesium. Sodium constitutes 90% of your body's electrolytes and is essential for life. The problem with salt is the chloride part of the molecule. Therefore, there is simply an imbalance between these electrolytes in your body which can be for various reasons(see link).

The key electrolyte in my opinion is Magnesium. With either low magnesium or excess calcium, then potassium balance will be affected. And if cellular potassium balance is low then sodium content in the blood and cells will rise to excess to compensate and cause problems. So supplementing twice daily with 250 mgs of Magnesium Chloride or Magnesium Citrate or Magnesium Gluconate will help you. Avoid all dairy products, avoid all calcium fortified foods, avoid sugar, cut right down on carbohydrates and avoid vegetable oils(polyunsaturated fats). Excess intake of heavy metals and halogens(Bromine, Fluorine etc) can also affect your mineral balance and create an acidic body. A depressed liver, kidneys or adrenals can also effect sodium excretion and reabsorbtion. And this problem relates directly to your candida too because all this electrolytic imbalance tends to cause acidity which helps the candida to spread.

So... I've done the baking soda and lemon before... But it seems, and this has happened before, you have to wait some time before eating. I think I ate about 10 minutes after drinking my tspn with the juice of half a lemon. My bowl of lentil stew did NOT stay in me, no sir, very bad. Three trips already and now I'm waiting to make sure I'm settled so I can eat again bc I'm hungry now... Any tips on how long one should wait to eat after drinking lemon bicarb??

Cloudy urine after using and alkalizing remedy was once addressed on this "Ted's Alkalizing Formulas Page" by "Bill from San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines" on 02/25/2010:

"Cloudy urine can be caused by many things -- bacteria, excess blood proteins, excess minerals or even lack of Vitamin C. To see all the causes of cloudy urine, just type 'ted cloudy urine' in the search box at the top right of this page and this will show you all the ailments and causes that it relates to in another tab in your browser. "

When you add the baking soda to the lime juice (before adding the water), just keep adding until the fizzing stops. If you are sodium sensitive, try adding just 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in the beginning and build up until the lime juice stops fizzing?

Make sure you're not dehydrated and you're drinking enough water, especially when taking an alkalizing remedy. "Just about everyone experiences cloudy urine from time to time. In some instances, the condition of the urine is simply the result of some type of food or drink recently consumed. When that is the case, there is no cause for alarm. Cloudy urine can also be a sign of a more serious issue that should be addressed quickly, however. See http://www.wisegeek.com/what-causes-cloudy-urine.htm

A couple of weeks ago (after checking my urinary ph, which was highly acidic), I started on Ted's Lemon and Bicarbonate formula. I found that it took only about a teaspoon of lemon juice and a pinch (estimating 1/8 teaspoon) of sodium bicarb to get my pH to an alkaline state, which is much less lemon juice than what Ted recommends. The first week taking the Lemon Formulas was fantastic, no problems. However, last week when I drank the formula I felt my blood pressure rise dramatically. I don't have a device at home to measure BP, so I don't know how much it went up, but I felt odd enough to stop drinking the formula. So others, be forewarned that the high sodium content of baking soda can affect your BP. Instead of baking soda, I am now finding that juicing veggies and adding dark greens like kale or spinach once or twice a day is even better at alkalizing urinary pH. Adding cabbage (purple or green, either one) is also great for alkalzing, but gives me intense stomach pain (gas, I guess).

Hi Robert... Here is a post I put up a little while ago that should answer most of your questions. The first link below represents the original protocol I used to get rid of my candida. With this protocol it took me a full year to get rid of my candida. The new protocol written below -- is the one the I would prefer to use now -- it will get rid of candida much quicker and is wholly based on Ted's recommended candida remedies. Here is the link to the original candida remedy that I used: https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/alkalizing_formulas.html#AH

When I used my old original candida protocol I did not know what I know now -- 3 or 4 years later. My original remedy took a whole year to get rid of my candida, but Ted has said that you can get rid of it in four months. So here is the protocol I would use now:

To Improve your Body Terrain

*Take Ted's Lime/Lemon alkalizing remedies at least 2-3 times a day as recommended. These alkalizing remedies create the worst possible environment for the candida while simultaneously creating a healthy and oxygenated body terrain. Also take the BS with water remedy on it's own one hour before bed - this will help you get a good nights sleep. If you have problems with this, then use Ted's Carbicarb remedy -- this is more balanced and incorporates potassium to balance any sodium issues. Potassium citrate can be taken to more directly aid intracellular alkalization. See this link:https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/candida4.html#TEDS.

*Take at least 2 tablespoons of Virgin Coconut Oil(VCO) per day to help constipation and intestinal issues. VCO contains mainly medium chain saturated acids, very protective for the intestines, liver and blood. Contains lauric acid, capric acid, caprylic acid and myristic acid -- these act as anti-microbials helping to destroy the candida as well as protecting the intestines from any further external microbial invasion. See this link:http://coconutoil.com/coconut-oil-research/. I don't use vegetable oils anymore, I cook only with VCO now.

*Take herb supplements like Milk Thistle or Dandelion because the candida die-off (Herx reaction) will create a big strain on both your immune system and the liver which will have to clear the dead candida debris and toxins from your blood -- so you must protect and strengthen your liver during the protocol. Think of this simply as taking out the candida trash. This die-off will give you flu-like or liverish symptoms and perhaps some diarrhea. Accept this and work your way through it as it should disappear once your body gains overall control again.

*Detox and get rid of heavy metals from your body. Due to diet and if you've taken medicinal drugs for any length of time you will have an accumulation of heavy metals. This is a direct cause of acidity and therefore a direct cause of candida. To get rid of the heavy metals just drink green tea 2 or 3 times a day and eat Cilantro 3 times a week in salads. You can also use Sodium Thiosulphate (bought cheaply at any aquarium shop) to get rid of heavy metals, arsenic, cyanide and chlorine. These will get rid of heavy metals over time and the dosage is 6 drops a day in a glass of water. Heavy metals create an ideal acidic environment for candida as well as for many other auto-immune and immune-deficient illnesses such as arthritis and cancer. See this link: https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/sodium_thiosulfate.html.

Remedies that Directly Attack the Candida

*Drink 1/4 teaspoon of borax(1/8 tspn for women) in a litre of water throughout the day. Take this for 4 days on then rest for 3 days. So, 4 days on, 3 days off with the Borax. Borax is the ultimate anti-fungal, also good for bones and helps to balance the hormones as well as leeches out the fluoride from your body. Borax ups and helps rebalance your hormones, which is why you must rest for 3 days -- to avoid gland over-stimulation. Read about Borax here: https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/borax.html#TBF

*Methylene Blue(MB). You can buy this at any aquatics or fish supply store. Used to get rid of fungal and bacterial infections on fish. Also used throughout the last century as a successful anti-malarial. Taking MB on its own will turn your urine green and the whites of your eyes blue, but if you take at least 1000 mgs Vitamin C with the MB, these side-effects will not occur. Dosage: Two drops of a 0. 1% solution of MB in a full glass of water once or twice a day. Do not take MB after 3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon - it gives you alot of energy so you will not be able to sleep!! (I learned this the hard way... LOL) MB is a deep acting anti-fungal that is able to penetrate the blood/brain and blood/bone barriers of the body. MB is also a marvelous mitochondrial super anti-oxidant for your brain -- gives you lots of energy. Read about MB here:www.earthclinic.com/remedies/methylene-blue.html.

* Supplementing with at least 12. 5 mgs of 5% lugols iodine per day -- two drops a day in a glass of water(you can use more). Read about proper dosages of iodine from the Iodine Project(most current research) here: http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-02/IOD_02.htm which are over 100 times the RDA recommended daily dose of 0. 125 mgs. Iodine will also help to balance your hormones and is also able to remove dangerous halogens like fluorine and bromine from your body. Iodine is, historically also a very effective candida killer.

* Hydrogen peroxide(food grade) -- I just use a capful of 3% HP in one litre of water a day when I need it. Sometimes I splash 3% HP all over my body, this kills everything bad topically as well as being absorbed quite well transdermally into my body by this method. Very potent against all forms of bacteria, viruses and fungus. See this link for more on HP:https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/hydrogen_peroxide3.html#CF

Additional and Useful Vitamin and Mineral Supplements

* Vitamin C -- Taken in the more alkaline form of Sodium Ascorbate -- at least 1000 mgs twice a day. Vit C is an anti-oxidant and also chelates heavy metals as well.

* Magnesium -- Taken as Mag Chloride, Mag Citrate or Mag Gluconate. Dosage: 250 mgs twice a day. Magnesium is involved in over 300 major enzyme body processes and also gets rid of any staph or strep bacteria quite well. Magnesium Chloride is the best form of magnesium in my opinion. See this link: http://curezone.com/art/read.asp?ID=49&db=5&C0=74" ?>https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/candida_questions.html" target="_blank">http://curezone.com/art/read.asp?ID=49&db=5&C0=74

* Natural Sea Salt or Fulvic/Humic Acid -- Both of these will act in the same way as absorption synergists as well as help create a healthy intestine and help to supply other much needed minerals to your body.

Diet

Avoid the following -- all sugar and sugar foods, dairy, all polyunsaturated vegetable oils, aspartame, sucralose, saccharine, MSG, soft drinks, junk foods, fried foods, baked goods containing white flour, red meat and anti-biotics. Use coconut oil to cook everything with and use only Stevia as a sweetener. Your diet should contain low amounts of white meat like chicken, turkey and fish with high amounts of vegetables. Rice is OK.

There are other methods of helping to get rid of candida, but I've taken a blanket approach -- I always assume, from my own experience with candida, that other problems caused by other resident bacteria, viruses etc will arise because of the candida and these also need to be addressed at the same time and so this are incorporated into the above protocol.

Ted from Bangkok will have many more remedies up his sleeve that will certainly work -- such as BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene) and Azoxystrobin (agri fungicide), but these substances are hard to obtain and I've never used them so I can't really comment. But I have used(and still using) all the above recommended remedies now and I haven't been ill -- no colds, flu or any other problem -- for well over 3 years since I cured myself of candida and I'm over 60 y o now. I've tried to keep the candida remedy relatively simple yet potent. See this link for more descriptions from Ted on Candida https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/candida_questions.html.

Hi Joe...I have always preferred the lime/lemon and baking soda remedies myself, although I also use the ACV plus baking soda remedy fairly regularly. I alkalize normally 2 or 3 times a day, usually using 1/4 teaspoon BS. But if I'm ill, then I will always increase the baking soda to 1/2 teaspoon 3 times a day with the lime or lemon juice in half a glass of water.

Most of Ted's alkalizing remedy dosages are not set in concrete and are normally based on size or weight of the person involved -- Ted's remedies are all based on a 150 lb person. But I'm 200 lbs, have a large frame -- so alkalizing 3 times a day is OK for me. If I weighed less, then a reduced frequency or amount might better suit me. You will have to find your own level here.

The ACV alkalizing mix contains malate and acetate salts -- good for energy and a good antimicrobial. But the lemon and lime remedy contains citrates and at least 5% vitamin C -- the citrates help to regenerate the bicarbonates in you body, which therefore aids cellular respiration and also helps to further alkalize your body as well as aid digestion. Out of the two, my own preference is the lemon/lime remedy because it seems to me to be more balancing and complete -- and not least because it helped me to get rid of a longstanding intestinal candida problem that went on for years and therefore this alkalizing mix is a very effective anti-fungal. I have also lost over 20 lbs using this remedy and I'm now down to a more reasonable weight.

Regarding your weight problem -- alot of people would give their eye teeth too be thin...lol. Still, perhaps taking a magnesium supplement such as magnesium chloride, mag gluconate or mag citrate would best suit you. You can even take it transdermally using mag chloride or mag sulfate(epsom salts) as bath salts. Magnesium is a wonderful hormone balancer and is involved in over 300 enzyme reactions in your body. My own favourite is Mag Chloride, because it seems to have the most healing qualities of all the magnesium salts. Check it out here:

Magnesium Chloride -- Early Medical History

Magnesium Chloride -- Modern Research

I've also been using borax for over a year now. Borax is perhaps the ultimate anti-fungal, also good for proper bone growth, hormone balancing and also very effective against mycoplasma and nanobacterial problems. I use borax regularly -- 1/4 teaspoon in a liter of water -- taken for 4 days and then take three days break.

The Iodine/Vit C is also an essential daily protocol for me. I've done much research on this and from Max Gerson's research, it appears we need only micrograms of iodide for the thyroid but milligrams for our major organs. Most of this research has also been covered by Dr Guy Abrahams:

Hi Sunshine...Taking 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda(sodium bicarbonate) with ACV should do you no harm. But taking 1/4 teaspoon of sodium ascorbate at the same time might well overload your intestines with sodium. So best take these two at different times in the day -- at least an hour apart.

Taking Vitamin D and selenium together should be OK. But I would take the Digestive enzymes on there own or at mealtimes. I use digestive protease enzymes to aid my immune system, so I take them on their own, outside mealtimes.

And be careful with Manganese supplements, these should not be taken on a daily basis, but should be taken on an "as needed" basis ie not every day. Check Ted's opinion here:

Manganese Dosage

Overdosing on Manganese can cause some strange, Parkinson-like symptoms. So be careful not to overdose on this mineral.

Here is a link to an interesting research paper regarding metabolic acidosis and potassium/sodium balance, etc.

http://www.saeure-basen-forum.de/pdf/symp2001/frassetto.pdf

In brief it recommends potassium bicarbonate supplementation, and a total potassium : sodium ratio of 10 : 1.

Peter...Just add the sodium bicarbonate powder to the lemon/lime juice until the fizzing stops. If it doesn't stop fizzing you can drink it as is or simply add more sodium bicarbonate until the fizzing stops. I just do the latter, for two reasons. First, lemons/limes always come in different sizes, small and large, so their juice content will vary. Second -- Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is body friendly and is about as poisonous to our bodies as ordinary salt. Here is further evidence of the body-friendliness of Baking soda:

https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/alkalizing_formulas.html#TEDS

In the old days -- the 1920s -- Arm & Hammer was used as an antacid and, internally, for relief and cure from colds and flu. The starting dose, as advertised for colds and flu by Arm & Hammer in 1924, was 6 HALF-SPOONFULS IN A GLASSFUL OF WATER A DAY AT TWO HOUR INTERVALS ON AN EMPTY STOMACH, which is a much larger dose of pure baking soda than is advertised on this site. See the link here:

http://sodiumbicarbonate.imva.info/index.php/administration-methods/arm-hammer-soda-company/

I just usually squeeze one lemon or lime, add the water and add the baking soda until it stops fizzing. That's it. Then I just drink it. In other words, if you add slightly less than or more than 1/2 tspn of baking soda to this remedy -- it won't hurt you.

Hi Everyone...I've noticed that alot of people who would like to use Ted's Alkalizing formulas here on EC, seem to have inherent fears of using an unknown or foreign chemical like Sodium Bicarbonate or Baking Soda in Ted's remedies.

The purpose of this post is to put people's fears to rest and to illustrate that Sodium Bicarbonate (aka Bicarbonate of Soda or Baking Soda) is a natural body-friendly chemical.

* The human body needs bicarbonates as part of its homeostasis mechanism to help alkalize the body and maintain body fluids within a healthy pH zone.

* Despite present day fears to the contrary, the body needs Sodium which is a major and essential constituent and electrolyte of the blood.

* Bicarbonates are needed and secreted by the pancreas, to neutralize the hydrochloric acid from the stomach chyme at mealtimes, in order to allow the next phase of digestion in the duodenum, whose medium must be neutral to alkaline for the duodenal digestive enzymes to work.

* Bicarbonates are an essential aid in the human respiration cycle, which helps in the process of swapping carbon dioxide and oxygen during respiration at the cellular level.

* Before the 1930s, Baking Soda in solution and on its own was recommended by Doctors to cure stomach acid problems, flu and colds and was used as toothpaste. The doses recommended in these times were much larger than recommended on this site.

Sodium Bicarbonate is currently used widely in the Medical profession as defined here:

* As an IV infusion as a flush or buffer for cancer chemotherapy.

* For women in labour.

* For Metabolic Acidosis as a serum alkalizer.

* As an alkalinizing agent in prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation and in the treatment of certain drug intoxicants.

* As a hydration agent for Radiographic contrast dyes.

* Supplementation for Renal Tubular Acidosis.

* As treatment for pulmonary hypertension in newborn babies.

* As a treatment for Diabetic Keto-Acidosis.

* As treatment for hyperkalemia (excess potassium)

Adding Apple Cider Vinegar to established dose of baking soda

As I have some inherent metabolic acidosis, my nephrologist prescribed 1/2 tsp baking soda a day, which seems to be working perfectly. How do I add ACV or lemon/lime juice and keep that result?

Hi Serendipity...The various defined methods for using Ted's alkalizing remedies on this site are all quickly defined here from a previous posting by me:

"Taking Baking Soda -- 1/4 tspn in half a glass of water is generally taken after a meal as a digestive aid or outside meals just to alkalize the intestines and blood or extracellular fluid.

One Lemon/Lime plus 1/4 tspn baking soda is used to normalize more parameters because limes and lemons contain many additional useful minerals as well as Vitamin C. Here is where you add the Baking Soda until the fizzing stops so that all the citric acid -- as well as the ascorbic acid -- has been neutralized and converted to its more alkaline salt form -- citrates and ascorbates. These are more easily absorbed by by the intestines. This is also my own favourite way of alkalizing, because its not complicated !!

ACV plus 1/4 tspn Baking soda. Used the same as lemon and lime, but gives you more energy through the formation of malate salts -- which are utilized in energy production -- via the Krebs Cycle -- in your body.

Carbicarb remedy -- Usually this consists of using sodium carbonate and potassium bicarbonate salts with citric acid together in solution. There are variations of this -- using the sodium and potassium citrate forms which are just as good. The reason you use this form of alkalizing is to alkalize both your blood(extracellular fluids) and intracellular fluids as well and is perhaps more useful.

And you should always be very careful with these remedies if you have any renal issues since the kidneys are the main organs that balance the electrolytes held in the blood.

When I took these remedies for particularly my own candida problem, I deliberately upped my doses to 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda(as Ted recommends) and took them 2 - 3 times a day. Here, I was aggressively targeting a higher pH to kill off the candida. But, in general, and just as a regular maintenance dose, 1/4 tspn Baking Soda in half a glass of water is fine.

When you take these remedies, you are generally advised to take them in just half a glass of water because not only should you take the correct amount, but you should also take them at the proper concentrations, so that these electrolytes are fully and quickly absorbed through the intestines into the blood by osmosis between the different concentration gradients. So taking these remedies in half a glass of water provides the best medium for absorbtion into the blood. A weaker concentration -- ie full glass -- would therefore slow down and hinder absorbtion of these important electrolytes.

There are also reports on this site of people with sodium issues -- causing headaches, insomnia, night sweats and kidney pains but when I used all these remedies -- and fairly large doses at that -- to get rid of my candida problem, I had no side-affects at all.

Since your whole body is acid as defined by your ailment, I would also seriously consider using the Lemon/lime, ACV or Carbicarb remedies, as these will not only alkalize your extracellular fluids but will also alkalize your intracellular or cell fluids as well."

But taking just sodium bicarbonate will only alkalize your extracellular fluids(blood) and if you have sodium issues, the Carbicarb remedy will provide sodium/potassium balance as well as increase the alkalinity of your blood and cell fluids as well.

As defined here, my summaries of Ted's alkalizing protocols are just quick and simple. For a complete and more accurate description, see Ted's alkalizing page at:

https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/alkalizing_formulas.html

This might also interest you. In the old days, sodium bicarbonate dosages were much larger than recommended today, have a look here at an original Arm & Hammer advert from the 1920s concerning a flu cure:

Hi Peter...Whenever I've taken any of Ted's alkalizing remedies -- whether its the Lemon/Lime remedy plus Baking Soda or the Carbibarb remedy or just Baking soda on its own, it's very important to understand just why you are taking these different remedies.

Taking Baking Soda -- 1/4 tspn in half a glass of water is generally taken after a meal as a digestive aid or outside meals just to alkalize the intestines and blood or extracellular fluid.

The reason you use this form of alkalizing is to alkalize both your blood(extracellular fluids) and intracellular fluids as well and is perhaps more useful. When I use this remedy, I sometimes add a 1/8 to 1/4 teasoon of magnesium sulphate or mag chloride crystals to help balance the potassium and calcium. Useful if you have sodium retention issues.

And you should always be very careful with these remedies if you have any renal issues since the kidneys are the main organs that balance the electrolytes held in the blood.

When I took these remedies for particularly my own candida problem, I deliberately upped my doses to 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda and took them 2 - 3 times a day. Bill,

Need your advise. Would you say the Carbicarb remedy is the better way to alkaline since it does alot more !
(Per Your email-Carbicarb remedy will provide sodium/potassium balance as well as increase the alkalinity of your blood and cell fluids as well.)

To make Carbicarb, let me know if I do this right.

I assume Ted wants us to mix 1/2 sodium bicarbonate and 1/2 potassium bicarbonte togather and add them in the lemon juice until it stop fizzle. Is this what Ted meant when he wrote 50/50 ?

Another question regarding Ted formula for people with sodium isssue, could they just use sodium free Baking Soda, would that solve the problem ? Thank for your expertise !

Answer to Peter about carbicarb

In its strictest definition, the carbicarb is the mix of Sodium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate.

See for example http://circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/77/1/227

As I recall. Ted'd first mention of carbicarb was here
https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/asthenia.html

Read the page to understand why the sodium carbonate was considered.

He later on developed a more elaborate formula that included potassium in the form of either a bicarbonate or citrate.

A carbonate is a salt formed from the bounding of a mineral with the anion -CO3 see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/(CO3)(2-)

A bicarbonate is a salt formed from the bounding of a mineral with the anion -HCO3 see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hco3

He also developed an alkaline formula in which sea salt is one of the component. Search for the keyword ORMUS in EC.

The use of Sodium and Potassium insures a better equilibrium of the Sodium/Potassium ratio. It also depends how someone is deficient in either. See http://www.naturalnews.com/024539_potassium_sodium_blood.html

The use of an alkaline salt with a weak acid such as Lemon/Lime juice or ACV or citric acid ... makes the solution more neutral so that is neither acid nor alkaline when it enters the stomach. It does not mean however that the solution is not alkalizing. Such formula might be easier to digest.

One should always be careful when using these formulas that use salts. The urine and saliva pH should be monitor to see how effective a formula is.

I hope these info may help in better understanding some of the concepts.

Good Luck

Alain

Alkalizing with Herbs

Hi everyone...I was taking Ted's Lime or Lemon or ACV and baking soda alkalizing formulas plus my own decoction of herbs -- Tinospora cordifolia (Ind. Gudduchi), Phyllanthus niruri(The Stonebreaker) and Tumeric -- for my intestinal Candida two years ago. This regimen was completely successful.

A by-product of this daily protocol was that I eliminated all my gall- and liver-stones. I had very hard stools(constipated) which become soft and regular again. I know these stones were being expelled because it felt like hundreds of small peas were being expelled whenever I went to the toilet. This continued over a period of 6 months until they were all gone. I also simultaneously lost weight and got rid of my belly!!

I cannot say for sure whether it was Ted's alkalizing formula or whether it was my herbal formula which caused the expulsion of my gall-stones. But this was much easier than drinking Olive oil with epsom salts everyday!! And I am very glad it happened!!

Hi Johann...I alkalized 2 times a day with mainly lemon/lime and used between a half and a quarter teaspoon of baking soda. If I was low on energy I would take ACV Baking Soda. Usually I would have a rest from the alkalizing, taking it for 5 or 6 days then take a couple of days off.

My external symptoms were very bad nail fungus(feet), athletes foot, eczma and psoriasis. Inside my body I was perpetually constipated, going to toilet once every 4 days if I was lucky. Low energy. I was also constantly feeling bloated, my diet was also not good.

I have little doubt that I had Candida and feel so much better now, with much increased energy. All these symptoms have now disappeared and I have regular daily toilet now. I put all this down to Ted's simple alkalizing regimen that I followed for just over a year. I still take this remedy now though not every day, only when I'm not feeling so good or after I've eaten something I shouldn't !!

Hi Moi...If you have sodium issues, then use either 1/8 tsn Baking Soda plus 1/16 tspn potassium bicarbonate plus 1/4 tspn citric acid powder.

You can also use the lemon/lime remedy with baking soda, which also normalizes many more parameters and, according to Ted, is the best and easiest one to use.

I've never ever had any problems taking these remedies myself, and I've been taking them for 3-4 years now. As to whether you should take these formulas, that's really up to you. If you have renal or kidney issues, then seek advice from your doctor.

As far as I'm concerned, baking soda is body friendly and is a natural body chemical, because bicarbonates are used widely both in digestion and in essential respiration processes within the human body. Sodium is also a major body electrolyte, which you body needs.

Sodium bicarbonate(baking soda) on its own, before the 1930s, was regularly prescribed in solution by doctors for colds and flu, and was used as a toothpaste. Today, Sodium bicarbonate is used by the medical profession as an IV buffer or flush during cancer chemotherapy as well as for women in labour.

Sodium bicarbonate, according to the MSDS standard, in terms of toxicity, is technically less poisonous to your body than ordinary table salt.

Hope this helps...

Thanks Bill for your responses! Odd for me to read this today because I have been doing some of the alkalyzing formulas and have recently started to have swelling in my gallbladder/liver area. I started to have a lot of belching and lost my appetite, I thought it was a die-off reaction but my hand and feet turned yellow. I thought that perhaps there were gallstones blockign a duct or something, so I did a few liver flushes and started doing enemas more regularly. With the gallbladder flush I passed some stones, and passed a few more the next day.

I upped some of the herbs then felt better after adding sea salt to my alkalyzing drink. I noticed the edema was better after adding the sea salt! The funny thing is, or not so funny, is that I have suffered from extreme insomnia and when I added the sea salt, I have started to sleep better. Yesterday sleeping for six hours, HUGE FOR ME! I'm not wondering if the electrolyte balance has been the cause of all of my problems, including candida and seizures, specifically since my sodium levels are so low and potassium and magnesium levels were high on the hair analysis.

I had stopped doing the magnesium baths for a while because my feet was swelling afterwards, although I like using the sea salt, I'm not sure I should continue that and will instead try upping my sea vegetables/kelp to see if that does the trick!

I also noticed that when I use bentonite clay, the yellow hands and feet are better, but they are also better when using the sea salt!

Thanks!

I have pasted a post from Bill of the Philippines below. He talks about using bicarbonate and citrates to neutralize acids and thereby help the kidneys, and whole body. I know that my body has been overly acidic for a long time. When he talks about bicarbonate I think he's referring to baking soda, I Don't know what he means by citrates. I've read his post over and over and looked up citrates on the internet and haven't found much at all. He talks about takiing citrates, but warns Against citrus fruits! Does he mean taking certain minerals? Fortunately, I am able to take bicarb in water. But I am one of those people who cannot take ACV, or citrus fruits, or citrus fruits with bicarb in water. With the Citrus and bicarb the body gets too alkaline, quickly... then the urethera burns.

I'm working on getting off of that blasted omeprazole. Finally found out that when you try to stop omeprazole and replace it with something else you get an acid Surge. I got the surge mostly calmed down, and I'm now taking sodium alginate (forms a raft to protect the esophageal sphincter, I think) I'm supplementing with this with Tums, as well as marshmallow root, DGL, raw okra juice, and cooked okra. I started using calcium carbonate instead of tums in order to avoid the dies or other additives. But the body really does seem to become more alkaline with calcium carbonate than tums. Does that even make sense? and I run into the overly alkaline problem again. Any suggestions?
Thank you, Denise

Alkalize

Hi Everyone... One fact that seems to scream out from the research regarding kidney problems is that a major cause for this condition is because the body is already far to acid, resulting in dangerous erosion and damage to the kidneys themselves caused by the acidity in the blood. Ted from Bangkok has said this time and time again on EC.D

Kidney disease and high body acidity also means that the body will havegreat problems digesting acid foods like raw Apple Cider Vinegar(acetic acd, malic acid) and citrus fruits(citric acid) which are normally beneficial to people whose bodies are not so acidic and who have sufficient stores to neutralize the citric acid to citrates and acetic acid to acetates. Ingesting these raw acid foods -- when the body is already so acidic and body bicarbonate stores so lacking -- are not beneficial to the body because in people with already acidic bodies and in order for these ingested acids to be converted to useful alkaline salts, these acids must first be neutralized by our bicarbonate stores during digestion. Excess blood acidity caused by a bad acid diet and a resulting lack of bicarbonate stores is what damages and erodes the kidneys. So if you have kidney problems then this essentially means that your body's bicarbonate and citrate stores are heavily depleted and also means that you are eating way too many acid foods -- so you cannot efficiently neutralize these damaging acids in the blood or within the cells themselves.

Therefore the common sense approach would simply be just to take Ted's Alkalizing Remedies to increase bicarbonate stores(alkalize the blood) and citrates (to alkalize the intracellular environment) within the body. From the research, bicarbonates and citrates are particularly useful for the kidneys in this respect.

So for some people to advise, as I have already read on EC, taking acidic foods like raw ACV and citrus fruits when someone is suffering from kidney disease caused by a lack of bicarbonate alkali in an already acidic body would seem to be absolutely crazy and completely the wrong advice.
